another good bit from the subreddit that I wanted to share. I don't have much to add because I've talked about all of these things and more, but the way they pointed out how hosie treats each other next to both Josie and Hope's previous romantic histories...
Tumblr media
also I loved this reply too because.. yeah. Hope's inexplicable softness for Josie but not other people is so wild
Tumblr media
like she had a hot temper, was slow to trust and quick to shut out, etc... but she instantly forgave Josie (and idek if I can call it forgive because for her there was nothing to forgive almost? it was that serious) for so many things and even one of the offenses made her basically start cheesing and kicking her feet. like she was so enamored with Josie that she didn't care she'd done anything wrong and it's just adorable coming from Hope? She would put people in boxes for even thinking about hurting Josie. She couldn't even insult Josie with her humanity off without looking hesitant and saying just kidding. The second Josie's real face was in front of her, she couldn't hurt her and put her peacefully to sleep. She doesn't reserve this unrelenting softness for any of the other characters. The fact she even gifted Josie the talisman in the first place speaks to how she quietly noticed and pined for her, too. It's shows a reciprocation of interest and energy there, which was something Josie always wanted from someone. It was even one of the key reasons why she was hurt with her sister. Josie has longed for that kind of attention and care both platonically and romantically forever

I want to be supportive of polygamy because the bonobos make it look so viable but why is it that every time I come across a polygamous person on the wild internet they are always defending infidelity

Wound. Something based on the plot of a comic that now exists only in my head, haha. I'm obsessed with comic ideas lately. Even that's why I drew it in 4 colors
Btw, I have headcanon that Johnny has constant anemia and during the race he endured the symptoms and didn't show anything

My Adventures With Superman Season One Spoiler-Filled Review [Part 2]
Continued from part 1
The voice cast is talented. Jack Quaid lent his voice to Peter Parker / Lizard in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and more prominently as Ensign Bradward "Brad" Boimler in Star Trek: Lower Decks. This series marks one of Alice Lee's first voice roles, apart from voicing a character in Mickey Mouse Funhouse. She has played characters in TV series since 2009. Ishmel Sahid has been working on similar series since around the same time. In an exclusive interview with Lee and Sahid, both said they were excited to see fanart, but also said it was challenging to maintain the high energy of Lois and Jimmy. Both noted the writers and producers helped them. They described how they had to adjust their speaking voices to the characters and explained the flair they gave each character through the voices.
One member of the voice cast, Kari Wahlgren, is well-known. She voiced Martha Kent, and young Clark Kent, in this series. She has done dubbing of anime characters since 2002, and has voiced iconic characters in Western animation. This includes Electronique in Kim Possible,  Suzy Johnson in Phineas and Ferb, Tigress/Sheena in Carmen Sandiego, Callie in the somewhat underrated Cleopatra in Space, and Zatanna in DC Super Hero Girls. She also lent her voice to characters in Sym-Bionic Titan, Young Justice, Infinity Train, Dota: Dragon's Blood, The Ghost and Molly McGee, The Owl House, Velma, and OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes.
Wahlgren is voice actor powerhouse in her own right. There are few voice actors, in the cast, who have voiced as many characters as Wahlgren. One exception is Zehra Fazal. She is recognized for voicing Nadia Rizavi in Voltron: Legendary Defender and Halo/Violet in Young Justice. She also voiced Faraday and Shannon in Craig of the Creek, Mara in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Zahra and Sabrina in Glitch Techs, General Yunan in Amphibia, and Tassia in Dragon Age: Absolution.
Reprinted from Pop Culture Maniacs and Wayback Machine. This was the forty-ninth article I wrote for Pop Culture Maniacs. This post was originally published on September 21, 2023.
Others have voiced just as many characters. Chris Parnell voiced characters in Gravity Falls, BoJack Horseman, Elena of Avalor (Migs), Samurai Jack, and Dogs in Space (Ed). Debra Wilson previously voiced characters in Cannon Busters (Lady Day), Final Space (Quinn's mother), The Casagrandes, The Owl House, Star Trek: Prodigy, Black Dynamite, and The Proud Family. Catherine Taber voiced her share of animated characters including Padmé Amidala in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Lori Loud in The Loud House. Lucas Grabeel voiced characters such as Jiku in Elena of Avalor and the haughty scammer Julian in Spirit Riding Free.
youtube
The voice cast includes other prominent voice actors. Vincent Tong voiced characters in 16 Hudson, Ninjago, LoliRock (Mephisto), My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Polly Pocket, and The Dragon Prince (Prince Kasef). André Sogliuzzo voiced King Bumi in Avatar: The Last Airbender and King Verago in Elena of Avalor. He also voiced characters in Samurai Jack, Star Wars Rebels, and The Owl House. Darrell Brown previously lent his voice to characters in Gabby's Dollhouse and Madagascar: A Little Wild. Azuri Hardy-Jones voiced Jade in Deer Squad. Kenna Ramsey voiced various characters in video games.
Apt viewers may recognize Jake Green, Laila Berzins, Jesse Inocalla, David Errigo Jr., Max Mittleman, and Andromeda Dunker. Errigo Jr. is known for voicing Ferb in the 2020 film, Candace Against the Universe. The film is the most recent iteration of the Phineas and Ferb franchise. Inocalla voiced Soren in The Dragon Prince. Berzins voiced characters in indie animations such as Satina, Wild Card: Shuffled, and Monkey Wrench.
Other well-known individuals voice bit characters in the seventh episode: Kimberly Brooks as Jalana Olsen, Osric Chau as Lewis Lane, and Lauren Tom as Leader Lois. Brooks is best-known as Princess Allura in Voltron: Legendary Defender and the rough-and-tough Jasper in Steven Universe. Some may remember Chau as the one who voiced the villainous computer hacker known as The Troll in Carmen Sandiego. Tom voiced Mop Girl in recently ended a mature animation, Disenchantment, and Amy Wong in currently airing Futurama, another mature animation. This differs with actors such as Reid Scott, Joel De La Fuente, Melanie Minichino, and Michael Emerson (as Brainac). All four do wonderful voice work on this show, but have almost exclusively, or exclusively, previously done live-action TV series.
Warner Bros. Animation is a subsidiary of the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate. This subsidiary produced Velma, Harley Quinn, DC Super Hero Girls, Young Justice, Justice League Unlimited, Teen Titans, Justice League, Static Shock, Superman: The Animated Series, and Batman: The Animated Series. Rooster Teeth, another subsidiary, is recognized for RWBY, its flagship series. The CRWBY is doing all they can to ensure RWBY gets a tenth season. The RWBY superhero crossover film (part 2) is coming out this fall. It may include a version of Superman, like part one.
A largely-circulated spreadsheet in which people anonymously described their conditions in animation studios mentions Warner Bros. Animation. In one entry, Warner Bros. Animation is said to have too much work and treat workers badly. However, it acknowledges that each production is different. People on Glassdoor praised Studio Mir for high-quality projects and talented colleagues. Others were more critical.
Whatever the second season of My Adventures with Superman brings, the number of fans will continue to grow (including the  10,000+ fans across two subreddits), regardless of the corporate decision to air it on Adult Swim rather than Cartoon Network, possibly because of "dark moments" in the series. Hopefully the next season goes above and beyond what the first season delivered. Even so, I can't rate this series high enough, as it is just as strong as Harley Quinn and superior in many ways to the sometimes-convoluted Young Justice and mediocre Velma.
My Adventures with Superman can be streamed on Max or Spectrum. It can also be purchased on Prime Video, either as an entire season or individual episodes, iTunes, Vudu, Google Play, or Microsoft Store.

if i have to see people say that princess bubblegum led finn on one more time...like finn was 12 and she knew he had a crush on her 100% but she always told him no.
the only time stuff happened was when she was deaged to 13 and when she was aged back she immediately cut it off with finn once again. like headcanon and say that you like that dynamic but to say with such confidence that she was purposely grooming him or leading him on is false. not once did she ever let him think they were going to be a thing, she always would laugh and be condescending and tell him absolutely not
she uses finn as a soldier for her kingdom, yes. but its not like shes flirting with him for it. she knows abt his crush and knows thats why he ultimately listens to her, but she doesn't encourage it or try to make finn think they will ever actually be an item

I understand that invincible (2021) is at its core a drama series with superhero elements and the fights develop based on what would produce the most interesting conflicts, so there has to be a serious possibility that the protagonist could lose (and that if he loses he could lose in a way that's more emotionally satisfying than if he were victorious, aka the entire season one finale) but like. you can't establish that this guy has the physical capacity to be a superman-level threat and then show him getting his ass handed to him every other episode by furries generic alien stormtroopers a regular human who happened to get super strength from his mutation a viltrumite agent who the technobabble predicts has a ~90% chance of straight-up killing mark in a fight etc without something about the whole premise becoming deeply hilarious. the allegedly invincible mark grayson
gonna have to start calling him vincible

I just saw a post on the Digital Circus subreddit talking about Gangle's line speaking about how difficult it is to tell if Ragatha is being genuine.
I started seeing some comments talking about Ragatha hiding something or the whole she's secretly a bad person or something.
Are we forgetting that Ragatha is kind of a people pleaser? Or what a people pleaser is?
Ragatha: (high on Stupid Sauce) Yooo, Jax. I, like, hate you. But, I don't want you to hate me. Is that weird?
People pleasers forgo personal opinions and desires in favor of another's personal opinions and desires.
Ep4 was about masks, specifically metaphorical ones. While Gangle is an obvious representation, both Ragatha and Jax wore masks too. Masks that were ripped away from by either the mundane setting of the adventure plus dealing with actual consequences of one's actions (Jax) or a substance altering moods (Ragatha).
Speaking of, while Ragatha's line about Gangle being annoying with her happy mask was indeed mean...remember, she's under the influence of the Stupid Sauce. And while a part of me believes that Ragatha says this because she never liked the Comedy Mask to begin with (it's a placebo) and just blurted out her true thoughts because her nice filter is basically off, I do remember reading comment somewhere that Ragatha could just be saying that because that's what she was thinking at the moment and the Stupid Sauce made her tongue looser. And, really, Gangle was being overly cheery with her Manic Mask, so I can see why.
I don't think that Ragatha is secretly mean. I think she is a genuinely sweet person. However, just because someone is nice, it doesn't mean they're immune to being annoyed, discontent, or losing patience.

I made the mistake of going on The Adventure Zone subreddit to see what people's thoughts were on TAZ Vs. Dracula episode 1 (I just started listening to the season).
Not only is it an overwhelmingly negative and complaint driven community, but the needless hate towards Travis McElroy is just astounding. Like I get that some people are sore at him over how he handled TAZ: Graduation, and that's fair, but it's turned into this culture of the guy being everyone's villain all the time. Makes it basically impossible to engage with the TAZ fandom at all outside of the fan art and similar.

Is your url based on the song Babylon canon?? I recently found the song through a camp that I’m doing and it’s absolutely beautiful :)
Kinda. My URL is based Psalms 137, which the Babylon Canon is quoting. When I first chose this username, I wasn't planning on that account being for writing - I was using it to access the exmormon subreddit. I eventually burned out on them because they were so, so bitter, and I just... I wasn't. I was sad. I would describe myself as very religious, but not at all spiritual. I loved my friends, I loved the ward, I loved all the insane bullshit that happened in scouts, I loved that there were grown men who had busy lives and kids of their own that worked together to give me adventures in my childhood. I talk about the disasters because they're memorable, but these were not incompetent people. For every disaster there were 10 things that just went great.
I wasn't angry. The worst thing they did was hurt people near me, and when people you love do bad things to other people you love, it's just miserable. I wish they'd treated all of my people as good as they treated me. They loved the house, but not its crows.
Anyway, I chose that Psalm for a handful of reasons.
It's a homesick song. And after leaving, I felt homesick. I sat down by the river and I hung my harp on the poplars, and I wept when I remembered Zion.
I know this is incredibly dorky - but the only piece of media I ever found as a Mormon boy that took the religion seriously was Fallout New Vegas. They weren't a punchline in that game. They wrote Mormons that had deep regrets and complicated pasts, who had lived through and did terrible things, and I loved them for it. The most well executed example of this was a character named Joshua Graham, and he spits Pslams 137 at you in a key moment, and changed my brain chemistry. Watch this if you want to get a sense of the character. Or this. Either works.
I had a really, really, crazy seminary teacher. I've got two stories (story 1, story 2) about him, but frankly, I could write like, ten. He talked about Psalms 137 a lot. He had a very strong belief in God's willingness to inflict a terrible vengeance, but he also had like, beliefs on what it took for that vengeance to be invoked. One of the most interesting people I've met in my entire life, and deeply thus deeply entwined with my relationship with Mormonism.
Good question, and well asked! I've had some people just jump into thinking I'm a Zionist. I'm not.
