despite being so headstrong, julia has rarely made independent decisions. in fact, she follows others to the extreme: happily following the route of becoming a housewife to take care of her father, following kamille into the circus, following sahed into his murder plot

and now julia is questioning the person she loves most in the world... her capacity for critical thought and reflection is honestly amazing... being able to look back at an emotional moment and see it from another perspective is such an important skill that tbh more people need to learn how to do...

ALSOALSO guys i say this every time but this episode takes the CAKE in terms of art... like do y'all see all the environment detail and intricate background characters?? i have nothing wrong w artists using 3d models, but it makes me appreciate marionetta even more when i see all the wallpaper-worthy panels... props to miriam's colorist, eiden, as well!!

it's sort of funny sort of fascinating how river consults the diary about Demon's Run in the show (and maybe another big event i'm forgetting) cause on one hand, it's for the audience, to let the audience know what's happening and that she's future river at that point, but on another hand...

i find it incredibly hard to believe that she wouldn't have everything about Demon's Run memorized. river's general feelings about That as a whole are pretty much up to interpretation as she's river and hides the damage and lies constantly (affectionate) and also they (the show itself) never give her time to do so, but that monumental event in her life? yes, i think it's not impossible to say she'd study it. but it's also pretty easy to tell that she uses the diary as a crutch in an emotional way

for her meeting/reuniting with a younger version of the doctor, it's sort of a shield, she's trying to use it to say "look! we have a future together where you trust me implicitly! i've lived it! trust me" (and here i'm thinking of flesh and stone and the library eps)

with the Demon's Run one, she uses it for herself, it's not a shield for the doctor, she even turns around from rory. she's using it to stabilize herself. but she could also be sort of checking through it, like she's double checking, making sure the information she remembers is right

her childhood was extremely up to whatever you could glean from s6 but to be somewhat raised in that orphanage with the Silence without an eyepatch to remember them, along with the fact that she didn't even remember Madame Kovarian makes me want to believe that she probably has memory issues. it sort of adds up, the diary itself, the reason why she "has pictures of all of his faces" and uses that to justify why she always knows it's him (so late in her personal timeline, she should already know all versions of him it's not that hard. also she was raised to kill him. im sure they taught her that too Imfao)

i'm just saying shit atp but i thought that was interesting to think about. you're a time traveller with memory issues, a husband that doesn't know who you are yet, a past you can't remember, and a future that's all out of order. what can you trust if you can't trust your memory? well, what you have written down, i suppose.

Okay SO as you know, I'm writing a fic where President Luthor gets assassinated, and like--I'm honestly fascinated by the whole President Luthor worldbuilding element in the DC universe, ESPECIALLY his cabinet with Pete Ross as his vice President, Sam Lane as Secretary of Defense, and fucking BLACK LIGHTNING as secretary of education. Love it. Lots to bite into. BUT another thing about the President Luthor arc is that during his campaign Lex just... straight up stealth-bombed the hidden estate of his estranged wife, Contessa Portenza, basically because she was a loose end who was too connected to his supervillain career to risk being part of his Presidential bid. And like, they play it off as this really fucked up, "AND he's single, ladies!" bit in his campaign thing in the comics BUT THE THING IS, even if a President isn't married, there is still a role of "White House Host" that is, a First Lady or First Gentleman, and like, if they're not the President's spouse, then traditionally they're a relative of the president--and there are also "acting" First Ladies, who assume the hostessing role if the spouse of the President dies or otherwise declines the hostessing role (like Margaret Taylor who hated that her husband was president SO SO MUCH). SO ANYWAY, this is a very roundabout way of saying President Luthor *would* have a White House Host who's an acting First Lady/First Gentleman and I have no idea who that would be.

And no, it's not Mercy because he handed the reigns of LexCorp over to her.

you should kill yourself if you spend 12 minutes sorting around your notes on your desk, making sure they look messy but also the prettiest ones are on top, posing your textbook open and having the most "academia" looking web page or lecture slides on your laptop screen before taking a picture and posting it on your social media story while quietly scrolling through songs to put with it.

I was gonna say "why am i not fluent in italian yet" and then remembered why and then remembered the insanity i heard after an oral exam a bit ago. Where the prof told me and the girl who was taking the exam with me that because we don't have a complete grasp of the language, we can give off the effect that we don't know the material, so we should "go spend the summer in italy to really internalise the language" and the girl and i just looked at eo like.
