From the looks of Sahed in the flashback it seems like he was still a little kid when he got taken in by the circus. Do you suppose they waited until he was older so they could bind him to the circus or something happened to him and it was used in an emergency?

oops sorry forgot to respond but i never considered that they might have waited to bind him! that makes so much sense though, considering that people bound to the circus don't age. i feel like i'm leaning more towards the latter option because while i can see tonny perhaps wanting sahed to grow up and have a life outside of the circus, i don't know if grown-up sahed would come back and agree to be permanently bound to the circus, especially due to the limited range of motion

What do you think of the half Ak’Kon child? Poor kid. The kind of things she’s going through. She was a result of an affair between some government scientist and some poor Ak’Kon and we’re not even sure how consensual it was if any. Her mother probably took extra precautions to keep her third eye hidden so she barely played with other children. The man she believed to be her father outright rejected her the moment he learned the truth. Soon after both bio parents get executed and she’s left alone being hunted down like an animal. Though from the looks of the previews Julia will probably act as her adoptive sister and protect her with everything she’s got.

my heart broke when i learned of her backstory, and even more so watching julia's face change over the course of the story as she realizes if she goes further with sahed, then this could be them. the pure disgust of her father too when he was retelling the story...

as for the kid, i only hope that her age has shielded her from the harsher truths and she can still have a carefree childhood, hopefully with the circus, and be able to confront it when she's older

my biggest sorrow is that the spotify version of cure doesn't have the instrumental that plays during ivan's last moments--it's an absolute banger and my fav part and im so sad the song just transitions to the ending vocals

With this kind of thinking makes you realize just how dystopian their way of life is? I mean really they can’t even read novels?

omg i completely forgot about this but yes, this really showed how patriarchal their world is! i mean we see this with kamille and with the scientist lady (forgot her name) (rip her husband), i think dotty too, but it's so easy to forget considering how removed the circus is from it all, with everyone being so free. seeing how energetic/critical the other girls in the panels are, perhaps it's more so the older generation, with the younger generation starting to break free of it?
