"Happy birthday, Reg." Data takes his hands and softly kisses his knuckles. "You already know you are everything to me, but I will tell you again anyway. Today I am reminded of how lucky I am to have you."
birthday shenanigans ( accepting // @strings-have-been-cut )
Reg's expression grows very soft. "Thank you... I love you."

Crosshair and CX-2
Crosshair’s motivation and display of fear this season isn’t not lining up for me.
Yes, his looming guilt from season one and two have him throwing himself in the line of fire a lot. He feels he doesn’t deserve redemption.
Yes. He was tortured, and put through the CX program which failed but still left him at the mercy of Tantiss and Hemlock.
But basically every episode that has CX-2 coming after Omega and the batch, Crosshair is throwing himself into the path of convergence every time. Extraction and Calvary has Arrived (two times in each), cross is doing everything in his power to keep them separated. Like he knows something that no one else does.
Crosshair’s PTSD can absolutely be correlated to his torture, but in addition what if it’s also connected to losing his brother to the empire’s brainwashing. Hemlock and his terrible methods taking advantage of the smartest and one of the most capable soldiers, his brother who can think his way out of anything who he knows never supported the corruption of the authorities above them, be turned into someone he doesn’t recognize. That fear growing to expand the others. If tech can be reprogrammed, just because Crosshair himself was in the clear doesn’t mean his other brothers are not. We focus on the shot of the four evil batch, and crosshair doesn’t waste any time demanding the others retreat before him. He’s constantly placing himself as a barrier between CX-2 specifically, like we aren’t even looking at Hemlock here.
The big bad scientist that created these guys, that executed Crosshair’s torture for information. But the frame focuses in on CX-2 once again, his hand starts shaking worse and then cuts to Cross immediately demanding that the others retreat. Yes. He’s trying to save his brothers like he knows he failed in the past, but this is just too pointed. Especially with their waterfall fight, crosshair really took that beating, nearly drowning. When they crash down the first waterfall it SO feels like crosshair is just operating on the defensive. Like the knowledge that CX-2 is away from the batch, he’s not fighting as aggressively, the offense is over with.
Dude, I know I joined late in the game. The first episode I was able to watch live for season 3 was Juggernaut. I had finally caught up from s1-2 in like lil over a week. But I saw people spotlighting the moment in extraction where CX-2 is drowning crosshair and cross stops hitting his arm. Instead he grabs it, it like one does when they tap out in sports and wrestling. Literally had my lil brain running in circles fully sold on the idea that cross KNOWS who CX-2 is.
Side note: I am running on like 4? 3 hours of sleep from this morning. But I think i would enjoyed the concept of introducing this dark mirror of the bad batch at the start of the season and the bad discover that they are clones which were reprogrammed on Tantiss. Having the season revolving around saving these guys despite how far gone they appear. Of recruiting some of them to help free Tantiss prisoners. And working with Rex would just naturally be apart of it. Of emphasizing the theme of not giving up on your family, of listening to Omega’s faith in her brothers and in others

THE RED ROPE OF IT ALL THOUGH
Hey Nonnie
the red rope of it all indeed. I am obsessed with the use of red ropes in 911 (and yellow ones but thats for a different reason) and I wrote a meta on it - which I'm going to need to make some additions to I think!
This will be the first red rope we've seen since 4x13 when Buck and Eddie were both on red ropes whilst rescuing Sheila from her balcony (as an aside she was both up in the air and buried and I am very much enjoying the idea that she represents both of their stories in this way - that they both save each other etc etc!!) there were a lot of red rope in that scene - they were glaringly obvious and Buck and Eddie were the only ones connected to red ropes (and connected to the ladder truck).
And now we're getting another scene where the two of them are connected via a ladder truck to red ropes.
The reason I love this so much is that the show has already commented on the red string of fate - Carla in season 4 - almost like it was some sort of set up to put the idea into the viewers mind (I'd already got there by that point but the GA wouldn't have). the Red string of fate story Carla was telling wasn't just about romantic love - it was a bout the idea (which is the more modern way of thinking about them) that we have multiple strings - that connect us to people who play an important part in our story - people who are meant to be together - best friends, adopted children and family. Carla giving this information to the Diaz boys together is important because it ties Christopher into Buck and Eddie as well - the idea that all three of them are connected to each other. I think its fair to centralise this concept on the Buckley-Diaz family because we've only seen red ropes on Buck and Eddie with one exception - Chimney - when he went down into the well to rescue Hayden.
The reason this is relevant is that Buck was on the end of that rope with Chim and they're family - they're brothers-in-law (soon to be legally if we get the Madney engagement we're expecting) and that same line was about to be dropped back down to get Eddie - still connected to Buck. To me that is all foreshadowing - the only ones we've seen connected by red ropes are actual family or the ones the show is building towards becoming an actual family.
And I'm being very very normal about it all!!💜💜💜

Possibly I'm wrong, but the strings are just for people important to you and/or your development as a person. Positive or negative. Macaque thought an enemy string was possible, which is maybe wrong, maybe right.
So. peng and macaque string
Macky would immediately use it to try and choke them or clip their wings. he finally feels in control of who to let in and so he acknowledges that there’s a connection because of their past but also isn’t above clapping back

izanami is such a fucking asshole with Marie that she says—she's TOLD—she's a "spy" on humanity. a little fucking prick decided by the same bitch that lied to her face like it was breathing. I mean, you can't say iznmi's wrong right now because they know that you kept her alive. Which meant they were there at her tomb (BECAUSE THEY WERE THERE TO PERSONALLY CLOSE HER CASKET). BUT this fucking bastard laughs when they notice for the first time that you have the comb. the comb they should be full aware of where it's going, which hands it's being passed to—IF THEY WERE AWARE IN THE FIRST PLACE. if they actually USED Marie as the spy she was made to believe she is. She's the perfect vessel, the perfect walking nanny cam for Inaba, but NO. the ONLY time izanami has ever seen through her was in her tomb. has ever used her. has ever possessed her. in the realm definitely not for humans. the world they were born in and not an external factor to the nature of their birth.
BITCH gives a poor girl, dressed up as the representation of personality and rebellion and her poet aspect showing her loneliness and isolation, a false sense of purpose right when she was born. that she's just a trashcan for fog with a tomb adorned in flowers and memories at its dumpsite. that she was there to watch people and walk around the human world to remember nothing and be remembered by nobody. if yaldaboath can kick an old man out of his stupid blue office, what more than izanami using a child as a periscope in their guinea pig's dreambase of operations and understand the power of Persona and Truth and Bonds and counteract these meddling kids' and their Power of Friendship in stopping the formation of the New World where they can grant the majority's wish to live in lies and their stupid shitfuck fog.
not that I'm saying I do want god to make full use of their powers and have a better advantage at rigging their social experiment that already concluded by this point but like. fucking asshole didn't even need Marie. so why. put her through so much unnecessary grief. why not dispose her form the start when she'd be thrown away in the end anyway. why make her go through this field trip to remember the home she loves and protects if she could only remember.
why make her suffer through this humanity both of you were supposed to have. make her believe she's nothing and have her put herself to sleep quietly pushing away all the people she loves and who love her when you'll just make fun of her entire existence. did you do this to laugh? were the humans you born from give you the template to make people who search for the truth suffer? that anyone thinking of protecting these selfish masses should just die? that developing humanity is a bad thing? that that's your humor? could you not kill her yourself? was this only for your entertainment? a sick representation of the people who gave birth to you truly are?
