🌻 note: i saw this walkman gif and immediately needed to do a max board!! i personally head canon man as a middle regressor who uses younger gear to regulate - i feel like she regresses to deal with all the trauma from her family life as well as all the upside down drama. steve is her caregiver an they have a father-daughter dynamic but it originally started as a older brother situation before they found this to be more comfortable (steve helps her eventually tell lucas an he becomes her babysitter - steve still has the main roll of cg!!)

I feel like when Robin and Eddie hang out, they're like two parrots just vocal stimming back and forth.

One of them starts and the other responds and then they just don't stop.

Feel like Steve would be less interested in vocal stimming, as in making large and abrupt sounds—pops and clicks and whole phrases, that kind of thing. But he'd maybe hum or toy with Eddie and Robin's fingers as they sit next to him on the couch, talking above his head, just sharing the same sounds and phrases back and forth.

Steve is just checked out and staring in front of him, exhausted.

But Robin and Eddie...they are literally birds of a feather—either ravens or parrots.

autistic steve harrington

i have so many autistic steve headcannons but my favorites are his stimming. i have such a long list of what i think his stims would be.

steve rocks back and forth gently when he’s feeling particularly content or happy. not a big movement, just a gentle back and forth that showcases his contentment in that moment. this happens most often when he’s hanging out with robin dustin or eddie.

when he’s particularly overwhelmed he can’t control most of his movements. he doesn’t want to but during meltdowns he’ll end up hitting his head or leg, or scratching at his skin until it’s raw and red. eddie and robin have helped him out with this a little bit, both knowing the feeling all too well. whenever steve has a meltdown in front of them they know exactly what to do to help him.

one of his least favorite stims happens when he’s really into someone. he has this horrible little high pitched giggle that he can’t help but let out. the first time it happens in front of someone is when eddie comes into family video with a new lip piercing. steve is so overwhelmed by how. fucking. good. it looks that he just can’t help himself. both eddie and robin look at him like he’s lost his mind which he assumes is fair, and he quickly makes some excuse about needing to do some work in the back to get away from them.

one that he doesn’t even notice for a long time is how he blinks. he had no reason to think about it because it seemed so mundane but eventually he notices that he blinks too much and too hard sometimes. there are times where his eyes just feel wrong and he has to blink fast and hard for a little while to get the feeling to go away. the reason he notices it is actually because robin brings it up, worried that he had gotten something in his eye when she sees him doing it one day.

one of his biggest stims is he can’t help but repeat certain noises he hears. this is particularly prominent when he’s around robin or eddie because the two of them will just make random noises that steve can’t help but repeat. eddie finds it endlessly endearing and maybe makes more noises than he needs to, just so he can hear steve’s adorable little reply.

steve’s absolute least favorite thing he does, only ever happens after or during a meltdown. he gets a horrible stutter, and words just get jumbled and so hard to get out. it makes him so frustrated and confused because it doesn’t happen any other time so he just doesn’t understand why it has to happen at all. robin was the first one to suggest he learn some sign language with her for these times, something he is forever great full for as it has helped him communicate so much easier after a meltdown.

🌻 note: i was really into stranger things for the first few seasons and fell in love with eddies character as he felt a lot like me when i was in school!! also the first friday the 13th came out in 1980 so eddie definitely could have seen it!! (he is such a spooky baby in my heart)

I genuinely hate when people write fanfiction and they take away everything that screams 'Eddie' about Eddie Munson. Let him be obnoxious, let him jump and run around. Let him walk on the tables, let him stim !! He is canonically obnoxious !! As an obnoxious person I hate when people take a character with those traits and just take them away!! Let him be annoying !! He yells and makes weird noises, he jumps up when he's excited, he walks on tables, he sits in 'Weird' or 'unnatural' positions !! And let's be honest here , he's probably autistic!! Please stop taking away these types of traits in characters!!
