How to Protect Your Falling Stock: Strategies for Mitigating Losses
The article “How To Protect Your Falling Stock” offers strategies to help investors protect their portfolios during market downturns. The first strategy is to diversify your portfolio by investing in different sectors, asset classes, and geographic regions. This reduces your exposure to risk and can help mitigate losses during a market downturn.
Another strategy is to use stop-loss orders, which automatically sell your stock if it falls below a certain price. This can limit your losses, but it’s important to use stop-loss orders wisely and set them at a realistic level.
Investors can also consider investing in defensive stocks, such as healthcare or consumer staples, which tend to perform better during economic downturns. Another option is to invest in bonds or other fixed-income securities, which can provide a steady stream of income and a hedge against stock market volatility.
Finally, investors should avoid making emotional decisions based on short-term market fluctuations and instead focus on their long-term investment goals. By staying disciplined and sticking to a well-diversified investment strategy, investors can weather market downturns and come out ahead in the long run.

Curious that in the wake of Süleiman's first campaign, both Hürrem and Hatice are scared of forever losing the people they've come to love and have latched onto in order to keep going and find new meaning for themselves after their seemingly dealbreaking past and recent losses, all the while Hafsa reveals her intention to marry both of them off all in the same episode, thus reinforcing the alienation they would feel in Süleiman and Ibrahim's absences and threatening to fully cement it, cutting them off from their actual loves and bringing misery to them both.
#they think the possible permanent losses would happen far away where they can't see it and can't do anything to stop it#they simply learn it's happened and have to forcibly suck it and move on#thus the cause is just outside forces they can't reach#and not that both of them won't experience stuff like that later (heey some Nenni Desem parallels!)#but now the people they know are the ones who'll challenge the comfort they lean on so much#it's happening right in front of them on their watch#of course there're also differences like it all happening more slowly for one and more suddenly for the other#and Hürrem striving to stop her marriage at any cost because if she doesn't save solidify her position she'll be done for#while Hatice not even thinking about opposing it as that would mean disappointing her closest#and standing against what she believes and should adhere to no matter how much it breaks her#there's also Hafsa wanting to marry Hatice off out of genuine yet misplaced care for her well-being and happiness#and Hafsa wanting to marry Hürrem in order to nullify the threat she represents and *pretends* to show care just to achieve that#(there we go - the first instances of people thinking they know what's best for Hatice while not knowing what Hatice herself thinks at all)#but you get the idea#magnificent century#muhteşem yüzyıl#muhtesem yuzyil#hurrem sultan#hatice sultan

Something that's been on my mind recently has been the ways in which hair is such a major part of Ranma 1/2. It's a major plot catalyst in at least 4 arcs (Ryoga's introduction, Super Soba, Dragon's Whisker, and Porcupine-Genma). And obviously I feel like this is thie case because hair is a gendered signifier that effects how the characters move through the world (whether or not it remains a punchline).
For Ranma and Genma, the loss of hair is tied to a loss of masculinity. For Akane, the way in which she does her hair defines her performance as a woman. This is why even as the manga progresses, and the arcs become more ridiculous, over-done, and lack the early introspection of "A Bad Cut," these themes never really go away.
In that early chapter Akane grapples with accepting herself for who she is, rather than pushing herself to adhere to a standard of femininity that both promises social acceptance and the "reward" of heterosexual affection from men. Her unwanted haircut (lining up neatly with her unwanted engagement to a woman) forces her to confront the ways in which she does not conform. It's also a visual tool to explain the thematic concerns to the audience. Despite the devastation she feels in the moment, it's truer to herself, and she chooses to start accepting that side of herself and stop trying as hard.
However, obviously because it's Ranma 1/2, the effort never totally goes away, in her nor in the other characters. The threat of her growing facial hair is just too much deviation from the norm for Akane to deal with, just as the threat of Genma and/or Ranma losing all their hair is too much. The audience is asked to accept these concepts as simple truths, and not to question them as plot catalysts in the way we do Akane's haircut "A Bad Cut." Though the later occurrences lack the nuance of chapter 13, they are very revealing about the gendered pressures all the characters experience moving through the world. The emphasis on hair in a comedy about gender really shows the ways in which, even though deviation is not consciously explored past the second book, hair defines these characters as means of expressing and conforming to their gender/gendered stereotypes.
#like its actually crazy the way ranmas hair stops growing as a woman and its no longer something he fears#and its revealed that as a man he has been hiding the whisker for months in a desperate attempt to conform in order to prevent hair loss#what was going on#ranma 1/2#shut up urbs

In Book IV of Virgil's Georgics, Aristaeus (god of beekeepers) has his bees returned to him after he carefully observes a sacrificial ritual (bugonia). In doing so he is contrasted against Orpheus, who fails to obey instructions and loses his beloved.

trying to gather my thoughts on unruhe. something about this exchange is so vital to me…about how scully maybe isn’t as natural a seeker as mulder. about how her work as a pathologist is focused on “how” rather than “why…whereas mulder’s profiling is the inverse. a woman is dead and a man killed her and no amount of probing the inner workings of his psyche, his dreams, his nightmares will remedy that situation. discovering the why doesn’t bring about any deeper sense of justice or peace. because really, no why could ever really explain the mundane horror of a woman’s abduction and murder. if anything, it just more starkly reveals the ugly simplicity of the human capacity for cruelty.
but i also love how later, she leans on the why. she channels mulder and his profiler brain. schnauz even picks up on it (“great. now they got you talking like sigmund freud,” in reference to him calling mulder freud during his interrogation). she asks him why he does it. why her. why this. why did his sister kill herself. why did his father do what he did. part of it’s to keep schnauz talking but it’s also another example of how she reaches for him, even metaphorically, in moments of fear and difficulty.
i also love how this episode, with its themes of unrest and strife and trouble, focuses on scully. mulder is usually the more restless character, always searching and seeking and chasing and moving. but scully is just as, if not maybe even more so. her mother’s remaining daughter. her father’s disappointment. a catholic to her bones, even as she lapses. a woman in a man’s job. who imagines a life to be a husband and kids and big sunday dinners, but who can’t stop following the mad man in the basement. who always insists she’s fine, who locks it all away, who chafes and squirms and explodes in impulsive incendiary bursts. who is always always trying.
there are just some things we don’t or can’t look too deeply into. if god is real, or why the woman in front of us is dead. scully will dig and scrape for proof and explanations for many things, but some interrogations aren’t worth the effort, or the fear of what might be found. some things just are, and they’re too big to move or change or overcome. women die because men kill them. what the hell does it matter?
#the x files#does this say anything at all? you decide.#to me this is especially a specific moment that points out the difference is gender dynamic between mulder and scully#which is not to say that mulder fails to grasp the depth of vulnerability women particularly face - he often does#but there sometimes feels like there’s something a little more…academic? to his approach? as a profiler and an investigator#in the sense of like. seeking out reasons and building out the psyche of the perpetrator even once he’s caught#like there’s a woman lying dead on the road and her killers in custody so why are we talking about dreams and nightmares and psychic photos?#scully as a woman who has experienced gendered violence doesn’t need to go probing because this is how the world is#men kill women because they can.#there is something vital about living in a violent world as a woman that mulder cannot fully understand#idk if i’m articulating my thoughts on this clearly at all#like there’s so much here…the fact that it’s lobotomies…the loss of the mind and sense of self#and scully is or at least likes to think of herself as cerebral so that’s terrifying to contemplate#and then being confronted with how restless she is and refusing to look at it….#also i know at the end she says she sees the value in looking at why monsters do what they do in order to understand them#and ultimately stop them#but i think that still troubles her and#doesn’t come easily to her#IDK i’m just saying stuff ok bye

Was talking to my partner about BPD and I mentioned that BPD and DID have almost exactly the same symptoms and they were like "What no that's not true" so I looked it up and the first thing I see is a person with DID complaining about the DSM because BPD and DID have almost exactly the same symptoms
#pwbpd 🤝 pwdid#having episodes of acting entirely differently usually able to be categorized into specifc states#having dissociative derealizing or depersonalizing episodess#rapid and extreme changes in personality often based on situation#all of this being atttributable to childhood trauma#afaik the only big difference is memory loss vs impulsiveness#i think i remember a psychiatrist proposing unifying them and just calling them 'dissociative disorder with memory loss' and '#'dissocative disorder with impulsive behaviour' or something#which i support because apparently it's a common experience on both sides of the aisle to have an unclear diagnosis between the two#especially since if you have both memory loss and impulsiveness... i mean fucked if i know what you have. super disorder#i guess to be fair in order to get diagnosed with bpd you don't have to have all the symptoms that would get you a did diagnosis#especially memory loss. i've looked into it and apparently memory loss is one of those things that's associated with bpd just not a criteria#i definitely have some memory loss after especially bad episodes#somebody described them as comorbid and i was like what does that even look like.#how would you distinguish betweenhaving comorbid bpd and did vs having just one#you can have impulsiveness when you switch alters and you can have memory loss when you have an episode#so like#how can you even know if you have both vs just having one#idk i think the next edition of the dsm is probably gonna change em up something fierce#can't wait to be rediagnosed with There's Something Wrong With Your Personality: Crossover Edition#i guess this is why psychiatry is so ehhhh as a field though#everyone is different and there really isn't a hard line between disorders#fucking. i forgot. the fucking community parlance for having an episode is literally almost the sam#with bpd it's 'splitting' with did it's 'switching'#is there... is there any community overlap? like are there communities for both pwbpd and pwdid?#anyway#gonna stop rambling about psychiatry in the tags#incoherent rambling

i've been watching mike flanagan's movies in order (mostly out of spite) and ouija origin of evil is easily the most disappointing. so many cool concepts and the potential for a social commentary on nazis in post-war america which i've literally never seen in a movie and they completely fumbled it by swerving hard into generic mid-2010s horror movie, including the not-so-subtle conservative themes in mainstream horror
#he's too interested in 'family dealing with the loss of a loved one' and does it over and over#ignoring the MUCH MORE INTERESTING IDEAS that he brings up and drops#and ends up with an extremely confusing message#like this movie kind of implies that in order to stop literal torture victims from haunting this nice nuclear family#you have to silence them by replicating the torture inflicted on them by a nazi like what the fuck#it doesn't work in the end which makes the message more confusing but why did that make it past the first draft???#you can't hint at social commentary and then do that shit#ouija origin of evil

my default interpretation that i will reference in regards to mrs. afton IS her separating with william and, unable to earn custody of michael ( and evan/liz if it applies, though i lean towards her leaving after their deaths due to the grief and continuous deterioration of everything ), leaving hurricane. of course like a lot of assumptions made for my bio this is flexible based on interpretations and plots, but whenever i talk about her these are the events that i'm referring to
#it's been on the brain for?? No Reason so i figured at least clarifying this was in order bc its vague in my docs lmao#i just. i GET why her possessing ballora is so popular but i don't go with her dying as my default#warning the rest of this is just me delving into hcs lmao -->#i don't think she WANTED to leave michael there but william is the one with the stable income and residence and as terrible#as mike and william's relationship is i DO think in theory william would fight for custody if need be out of spite and possessiveness#and both michael and his mom knew that..... he just has REALLY complicated feelings about this and it makes me sad..........#watching his mom grieve (which he feels responsible for) and suffer as everything falls apart and KNOWING she had to get out#but no amount of acknowledging this stops the loss from HURTING. nothing stops the sinking realization that is is Just Him And William Now#as it will always be for years and years to come.... and he can't help but once again think it must be deserved#everything about him makes me insane i'm sorry#⁂ ・゚: i was looking for a job‚ and then i found a job‚ and heaven knows i’m miserable now ➛ ooc
