I am both confused and curious , depending on the endings ,do you see engineer and darkiplier become a couple sort of ? Or is it complicated ? Since engineer is either actor or the true engineer guy

That's a really good question. And I'm glad to answer it early on rather than later, because I've actually thought about Darkhenge being read that way ahaha, and it's not exactly my intention, but I'll get deeper into that because it's more nuanced

Short answer:

I'd be fine if people see it as anything, honestly. My AU isn't fleshed out to the point where it's entirely removed from the source, and the nature of the source is... you can project onto it! Canon Captain and Head Engineer are depicted as a friendship, but people can easily ship them if they want to. So that's how I feel about my AU as well- except it's much different in genre of ""romance"" or ""friendship"" LOL (due to Dark HATING Mark- But that's the catch- this isn't the "same" Mark!)

Long answer:

I'll get into exactly what I think Darkhenge to be. First, before getting into it: The AU name Darkhenge is structured as a ship name, but I don't really ship within the binary of romantic nor platonic, it is just a duo/pairing system to me pretty much. ISWM is a story that goes heavy on the platonic emotions, and tends to be unconventional/bizarre in ways, in the storytelling, characters, etc. Such bizarre things as killing your friend or having your friend try to kill you or seeing your friend as hundreds of different people. It's fun. I think I held onto that aspect more than a concept of a standard relationship. I guess I happen to be unconventional in my tastes.

Now, I will dig into Darkhenge as I conceptualize it. It's kind of making me nervous to finally put an official description of it out O__O" alongside my art of it! I've talked about it a lot privately but never spilled the beans on what it IS...? (a little excited)

Dark is put into a compromising situation, though not like he isn't used to that, and he has to fend to secure his position of power. So, it is fortunate that he's a Captain with Mark as a self-sacrificial subordinate. That's Dark's comfort zone, to have control. But, (to have (Actor) Mark as his friend,) it's not his normal. But for us, The Viewer, it is. So that creates a dichotomy internally that Darkiplier has to account for. ... Darkiplier doesn't typically share the emotions that The Viewer does, and if he did, I think he has a fair chance of it not getting in his way, since he's always repressing conflicting emotions anyways. But that depends. If Darkiplier "wins the game" like I explained in my previous post... He witnesses the story of ISWM. This might not influence him- as explained! Why would it? But there is some more weight to the experience for him, regardless. It's something he would think about for at least a moment, maybe yet another thing that weighs him down forever, even if it doesn't subtract from everything he has going on canonically. (The whole revenge and hate thing) ... So finally, the weight in question: Head Engineer, in my AU, is Actor Mark, but not exactly- his character is modified in this story specifically, just like how The Viewer/Darkiplier is modified to have fused for the duration of ISWM in my AU, and then would split after they finally resolve the paradox; so everything canonical still applies in the overarching universe & stories. Head Engineer is an Actor Mark who, unlike the other Marks, hasn't just deluded himself into "believing the story he acts out..." or wanting something in the House... -- he's literally a different Mark. That's how it was written canonically, and I'm reading it this way for fun: He's Actor Mark, but an AU version. I know Actor Mark transcends the AU logic like Warfstache, but before Mark was an Actor he was Mark- and that's the idea. Maybe you get it, maybe you don't... so here's a list:

Damien and Mark were good friends, until Mark was taken by his ego and the influence of the House.

The Viewer and Mark have a deep friendship.

The Captain and Head Engineer are on good grounds to have a close friendship as well, thanks to whatever circumstances of their respective characters preceded the story of ISWM.

Darkiplier hates Actor Mark, and his hate is hinged entirely upon what Actor Mark did in WKM, via influence of the House.

The Head Engineer is Actor Mark, except before he would do any of that in WKM.

The Head Engineer is Actor Mark before he became Actor Mark, so just Mark- except an AU version: he's evidently a space engineer instead, with a humbled ego and no awakened desire to act. Yes, Head Engineer does have a smaller ego than Mark had, I imagine Mark was a bit egotistical and theatric even as a kid. Head Engineer is Mark if he turned out different. "I could've been an engineer..." haha And this can be circumstantial or "genetic" - but I like to think it's mostly circumstantial, because I still see the other Marks' traits (including Actor) in Head Engineer's character, especially with how carried away Head Engineer can get about the warp core. It's the same phenomenon of the house. And I know that's just the House, but I like to think that there's a theme shared between Actor and Engie that they're both the type to get carried away with a creative vision or incentive of investigation and revenge... (Kind of like Abe and Dark, which is why I see that it can be just the House's global influence) ... It's a hc of mine that I find enriching to the AU Engie's character.

So, to Dark, other than any potential heartstrings it could tug on his very dead and perhaps nonexistent heart, this is a surprisingly uncomfortable situation. But The Viewer makes it more tolerable by eventually resolving the situation, regardless of how much Dark might have wanted to fight those routes, or how many mistakes each of them made to get bad endings. If the Captain and Head Engineer never made up, the story would likely never end- because, well, we tried every other route, and it didn't really end there... So, The Viewer is essential. Mending the friendship is essential. If Dark has any heartstrings pulled, it's probably Damien's... but I think this Dark is rather muddy in his "original" identity by now (plus the addition of the D/A as The Viewer... Damien isn't even getting the chance to talk to the D/A in headspace, I feel like ISWM feels super fast for them all, barely conscious), so it'd be vague and buried. I like the hc that Dark and Warfstache both forget, but Dark remembers a bit more, and he's sentimental, but very reserved about it and would only stop repressing it only around people he trusted. That's a complicated thing, and I think ISWM is not about resolving Dark, but is about resolving the story and nothing else. But you could argue otherwise if you wanted to. Maybe part of him could have been happy.

A silly analogy would be taking a criminal to a class meant for teaching toddlers to play nice, and not letting them argue with the teaching, just teaching them the lesson until they submit and actually succeed to be nice. Then the criminal is let free from the class to do whatever he wants, again. The memory of it might be uncomfortable... or maybe irrelevant, because it could be happening all the time! Maybe this isn't Darkiplier's first rodeo in the multiverse, nor the last. ... I like to think that he explores, since everyone technically can within the illusory world in the House/Mansion. Stuck but free all the same.

Ah... I like to think how ironic it would be if Darkiplier had to go to this universe & possess this body of all possibilities just to get the warp core... It's funny.

The most important aspects of the dynamic to me is the duality of comedy and horror/tragedy, and the anomalous third act is the profound sappiness in the original media that would not at all fit Actor and Dark's dynamic- it's the contrast and impossibility that I love about the situation.

If I had to romanticize them, I think it could be done nonromantically, for the record. I, myself, am not traditional with the genre of romance. I guess I fit into the grey area, and that influences how I think of Darkhenge, as well. I also think the word "romantic" doesn't necessarily have to mean dating, since you can romanticize pretty much anything in life. And I think this AU is a pretty good example of how I can romanticize things! A lot of fiction is a kind of romanticization, but the romanticization doesn't usually indicate what you would feel about it if it happened in real life. So yeah, I think I do a lot of that... A lot of media I read can have villains or dark themes that I will play around with conceptually, knowing that if they were real, I'd hate them. Lol.

I like love stories that go like this. I mentioned Madoka briefly before, and that's honestly my top inspiration to even my own surprise because it nails the nuance perfectly- it's commended as a great Yuri but it's not actually a Yuri, it's just written so well around those two characters that it can be commended as a great story with Yuri characters/undertones in it.

So yes, I like stories like this, and they tend to be best written as love stories... but they don't necessarily have to be love stories. They can just be tragedies... but I think love is an important element when writing about the bigness of life. Whatever form that love might take. So whether it's platonic, romantic, or neither, is none of my concern nor consideration, because it's about something more nuanced, bigger... Everything and nothing is taken into account at once, if that makes sense.

Even some of my Darkhenge art ideas (that haven't yet come to fruition) seem a bit romantic, it's just a grey area. I think I am in love with the AU itself, and that's why... I hope it makes sense why I am in love with it- if not, I'll just keep trying to show why...!!!! ( •̀ ᄇ• ́)ﻭ✧

Well, I think I have explained it properly...? Feel free to ask more questions, though. I'm a little sleepy while typing all of this, so I could have missed something.

For the record! If someone shipped my AU characters romantically, I would likely be fine with their headcanons/interpretation, but I encourage them to ask about boundaries if they plan to post about it.

About my experience with Scooby Doo

Okey, if you have seen some of my fanart carefully, you may have noticed that...I'm a Scooby Doo fan. And honestly: who isn't? No matter in what year you were born, you pretty much grew up alongside (at least) one of the many- MANY series and movies from the Scooby Doo franchise. So, even if you are not really a *fan*, you certainly know about this famous gang with a talking dog and the *meddling kids* phrase is probably stuck on your head. Aaand so, as a fan, I just wanted to talk about my experience with some of stuff from this franchise!!

To be honest, my first REAL interaction with the franchise is...pretty blurry. Like, I honestly cant remember which one was the true beginning!! O__O But still, I can say a couple of guesses. First, I own a vhs of the *first* and one of the best Scooby Doo movies in existence: Scooby Doo on Zombie Island. When I saw this movie for the first time I was confused about why they were separated and other things so...I think I wasn't really aware of the gang before that?? Still, I really enjoyed this movie and it remains as one my favorites till this day (P.S: And surprisingly, I didn't get scared at all!? :o)

My second guess is that I saw an episode of the old series (one from the 60s to 90s) on TV one day, though...I cant really say what episode exactly, hehe.

Still, I (kind of) remember when I saw the first live action Scooby Doo movies for the first time! I think...before I saw the first movie, I already watched a scene from the second one, specifically: the one where the gang is knocking at the door of the *villain*s haunted house. Buuut well, back to the first one! I saw (the full movie) on TV one day and I really, REALLY loved it! It had some kind of charm and atmosphere which I can't really describe, but it caught me immediately!! And ooh boy, the Latin Spanish dub was incredibly funny!! XD This movie also remains as one of my favorites of all time!

It took a couple of years (but not really too long) for me to see the second movie. I also liked it, but not as much as the first one, which is curious, considering that aesthetically, this movie is more Scooby Doo like than the first one. Oh, and as a side note! I didn't ship Shelma back then. Actually, I didn't ship anyone inside the gang. I mean, I saw Fred and Daphne kissing and all but I didn't think much about it =__=

Years passed and I grew up seeing all the Scooby Doo animated movies that came year after year. Back then there was also the *What's new Scooby Doo?* series (which theme song still remains in my head), but aside from one or two episodes which I was lucky to see on TV, I couldn't see much of it. That's why the movies were my only Scooby Doo related entertainment.

More years passed and then it came out: Mystery Incorporated, one of the best (if not the BEST) Scooby Doo series of all time. Sadly, I wasn't really interested in it back then. I was in my teen years and since I had *grew up*, it would be very childish of me to watch a Scooby Doo show now. Still, I was lucky enough to watch some episodes on TV. One of the episodes I saw featured Shaggy and Velma as a couple and then I was like *Wait- they can date??*. I stood silent for a few moments, then I was like *Cool* and kept viewing the episode like noting. I still didn't think much of it, but the vision I had of their characters had already changed a little.

Some time later, I found a place where they sold DVDs and along the many of them, I found one with Scooby Doo movies which I hadn't see before. I bought it and then I finally got to see movies like *Scooby Doo and the witch ghost* for the first time. A few months later, I also found two DVDs with the two seasons of Mystery Incorporated, so I said *why not?* and bought them. And Oh-MY, I LOVED IT!! Sadly, the episodes weren't exactly in order and the second DVD didn't have all the episodes of the second season so, I couldn't finish it, but still, it was worth it! here, I kind of started to actually ship Shelma.

Many-MAAAANY years later (now in college), I finally got the chance to see the series as it was supposed to be, and I just have to say: I loved it even more! Although the series itself *broke* the ship, I still liked it and couldn't *move on* from it as I was supposed to...and so, here I am, still shipping it!

Aand finally, we come to the fanmade live action Scooby Doo series. I never heard or saw anything about this project until last year, when I stumbled upon the pilot on Youtube. I was curious so I watched it. I didn't have any expectations, but I was gladly surprised with what I saw. I had such a good time that I immediately showed it to my friends! And still now, I'm eagerly waiting for the next episode! (...While creating my own fantasies already, as you know XD)

One thing I wasn't sure when I was first sawing the pilot, was about Chris Villain, who takes the role of Shaggy in this series. As he have said, he doesn't look like Shaggy at all (physically speaking, of course), so I was a little out of place at the start...But as the minutes passed, I got to care and actually SEE this version of Shaggy functioning (it even made me cry at one point for how rough his situation is TT w TT). Now, he is definitely my favorite out of the cast (about both, actors, and characters) and I'm excited to see what else will come across him ^w^/

So yeah, as you can see, I ship Shelma in almost all its forms. It may not be the *right* ship for a lot of people, but I still like them and think they can work together as long as someone cares to do them right.

EXTRA:

To be honest, I NEVER saw the TV movies before. If it weren't that one day I stumbled upon them out of pure luck, I would probably continue to know nothing about these movies. At first, I didn't want to watch them because...lets be real: it didn't look good to me. The cast, the scenery, even Scooby look kind of weird. But well, I decided to give them a chance anyway. The first one was okey, nothing really extraordinary, but enjoyable still. The second was...*particular* to say the least (so much that I had to close my eyes out of embarrassment sometimes). Still, it was nice to know this version of their characters because I think they would be funny to work with!

Something I noticed from Mumblr post tags and the G-Team story is that apparently Cute Guy is kind of clumsy? Mumblr posts had his falling into a dumpster, this one had him faceplanting and missing a ton of shots. I don't think I've ever seen that before and it's interesting? I feel like usually Cute Guy is portrayed as pretty competent in the superhero/vigilante stuff, so having him fumbling with it is actually really interesting.

Eugene is an adult. o__O; This is like comparing cats to kittens. haha I see no reason to be pitting the two against each other. It's not like they have a rivalry going on between them.

Though with that being said, it would be cute to see Eugene teaching Varian things that he learned while he was a thief. The show really gypped us on healthy bonding moments for Team Awesome.

im actually obsessed w ishgard im hoping you understand that asking for my thoughts on anything is opening a floodgate but i will try to reel it in! ok! here we go!

ok i love ishgard.... i love its extremely insular and severe and almost monastic atmosphere. i am a hugeee fan of secluded locations as the setting of a story so when i realised hvw was going to be largely about ishgard i was so excited. i also really love plots where characters are in hiding/have to take refuge in a hidden and secretive place??? and then the fact that the place you have to take refuge in is haurchefants family home??? i started writing fanfic immediately i literally felt like i was being spoiled like they wrangled that from my brain i genuinely couldn't believe i could experience so much luxury all at once. of course that's been ruined after doing the vault which i have been genuinely handing terribly but. moving on!

emmanellain is so funny and i think the contrast between him and artoirel (silliness/overconfidence vs seriousness/insecurity) is really interesting, down to where you go with them on their separate missions. really fun way of exploring more of ishgard. i like their dad too he's genuinely sweet which i thought was a nice surprise. it really stuck out to me this one moment where the war worsens and he says you can't stay anymore bc its become so dangerous, bc i just automatically assumed everyone would beg you to stay and help. that really touched me. i feel like hvw somehow passed my convoluted eq test

also learning haurchefant was an illegitimate son in the way you do w artoirel just telling you really stood out to me o__o not bc that kind of thing is an issue but bc of how you learn it idk backstory on the characters kind of throws me off in a good way bc of how linear the game is. idk i cant formulate thoughts on haurchefant rn itd need its own post. some other time..

i don't believe in things like nobility as an actual moral concept, obviously, and fantasy games let alone ishgard really test my patience with it, but i do love it aesthetically. same w christianity. i really like idk arthurian medieval aesthetics. the high houses + their motifs really got me like i specifically love unicorns and roses if hvw was trying to appeal to me directly it knew exactly how. ishgard's politics too i thought that shit was so interesting i'd love to learn more about the rocky relationships btwn the houses. and we loveeeee toppling the church thank you heavensward

there were a lot of times though where i was really frustrated with the dragonsong war and this is my issue with ffxiv in general but the way it treats beast races is extremely disturbing. i pretend i cant read whenever a character on the "good" side talks about "civility" or "reason/sense". and the ishgard lore being ppl directed by their god to inhabit a land only to find that land inhabited by "savages" (the dragons) that they have to kill now bc as "reasonable" beings they have a religious claim to that land...is an insane thing to write about!!! jrpgs are crazy!!!!!! like i genuinely need it to stop but i guess they at least (???) kind of turned things around with hresvelgr and ysayle offering the perspective of the other side and i think they made it an interesting issue enough for the game but lord it is disconcerting. that being said the foundation of ishgard being a total lie (and being described constantly as a sin) is still a lot of fun to me like thank god. and the quirky somewhat found family journey w ysayle, estinien and alphinaud to unearth the truth was one of the best parts of hvw imo. i loved seeing estinien act almost like an older brother to alphinaud, and for estinien and ysayle to constantly be at odds and alphinaud trying to keep things together. i am so fond of that section of the game.. just felt like you were climbing higher and higher into figurative heaven (i love the title heavensward im glad they used it in such fun ways) and seeing stubborn bastards like estinien question what he knew. he was so funny by the way i was not expecting that even though i knew an estinien was a popular char in the game for a while. i also like ysayle a lot like her passion was very compelling, and when she finally talks to hresvelgr the way her goals would be tinged w a sort of self-serving personal feeling at times i found really interesting. all of it was so interesting whenever the plot strayed from ishgard id be like take me back PLEASEEE. idk i like chars who behave like tools (estinien) or become tools by accident (ysayle). i think those two should hang out and bicker and begrudgingly accept each other forever

also i love aymeric like i already loved aymeric from post-arr idk if you play w another dub but his english voice has this softness to it that i find so cute. idk he's kind of delicate to me maybe not what they were going for but i'm into it. the fact that post-arr to me is just watching aymeric and haurchefant be in a wol-loving contest MAKES ME SICK TO MY STOMACHGHH i love the ishgardians how much they like wol in a place that's notorious for being so cold is so great. i think love is real on earth. and not in the self-insert "i need every char in this game to want me" way i just mean that i like love a lot, and they are not shy about the fact that they love you. its great. also when they revealed aymeric was actually an idealist and that getting jailed as a heretic meant little to him if it could bring about a new ishgard--literal nail in my coffin. i love idealism!! i was really pleasantly surprised that the nobles you come to know decided to care more about bringing in a new age for the region rather than being noble. whether or not that change comes is to be seen ofc.. but considering the brume is a location that exists well. what is with this game and the fantasy cops always being really bad...? like is ffxiv actually down for the cause...? (joke)

ik ishgard has its whole classism thing going on but that seems more like fray's department now which i have yet to dance with.. i mean literally just dissolve the class system...but this post is already very unorganised so. no more. i would pay an infinite amount of money to bring haurchefant back. each time i think about him i slip up and think about his gravestone instead and feel nauseous. great game!

post-next gen plotting!!

hi everyone WOOOOO congrats to all the next gen participants that got signed!! and great work to the admins for everything what a fun event. for those that didn’t read the post (SPOILERS!!) nayoung just signed a contract to sr media, and joomi did not get a contract offer at all.

both muses are ultimately happy with these results!! i think i’m going to do my standard “here’s what’s up with the gang” thing to cover their post-next gen thoughts for ease of plotting.

speaking of plotting, since next gen consumed my life for the past few months, most of the threads i have on both muses are either not super relevant anymore or i’ve lost muse for. because of that, i’ll be dropping all threads unless previously discussed. i’m sorry to do this tbh 😭 but i’d really love to get fresh stuff going! especially trainee threads for nayoung, though i’m still wrapping my head around the new system atm asdfasdgdsg so! like this post to plot, no matter who you are, and i’d be happy to plot w you all again 💗 let me put what’s up with the muses again below!

joomi had this weird moment where he was actually nervous waiting for the last runner up’s name to be called on next gen. early on the show, he had wicked bad imposter syndrome and felt like he didn’t deserve to be there, and he also never wanted to be a kpop idol; he didn’t WANT to be there. over time he grew to just want to do his best, but even by the finale he didn’t want to win or get a contract because he knew there was a 99% chance he’d turn it down. and yet still?? he kind of wanted to be that last runner up, which is confusing to him too. maybe he just wanted to know he was good enough to at least get the offer? but he’s mainly just relieved, and is even happy to go back to working at lotte world again even though he hated it. next on his agenda is ditching the asshole lead singer of his band and starting a new one where HE will be lead singer this time, though, so we can definitely plot around that! and i will probably write a solo. hopefully.

nayoung is mostly happy. of course, she wishes she would’ve made the top 3, and she thought if she would get a contract she surely suited lime entertainment best, but beggars can’t be choosers, so you bet she signed that contract right away. she may not think sr media’s concepts suit her the best but personally, she’s a high performance gal and will have decent acting going forward too, so i totally get it. regardless, she’s eager to get started as a trainee again and is thankful for the opportunity!! she’ll work super hard. i think she’s still kind of in shock right now tbh i’m trying to get in touch with her in my head and she’s just like o__o whatever that means SDSDGSDGGD but she has a tendency to fight with other girls because she sees them as a threat or something, but next gen taught her a lot about how to be a team player, so i think she’ll be keeping that in mind going forward and try to be nicer. but it’ll be fun for her to fight people too, i’m sure it’ll happen from time to time, especially since there aren’t cameras around anymore :^)

The latest UtB chapter was so good!!!! We are almost 70k in and this still just feels like the start. I was thinking about the future - eventual heats, mutual lust, feelings realization, all the good stuff... and what rocked my world was the realization that Ef is quite possibly going to drop the Dr one day O__O XD (I'm still *barely* managing to say 'Gary'!) It feels bigger somehow than just the usual switch from last name to first name. Haha. I can't wait!!

(Still the future pondering anon) Hang on, has Ef even gotten to calling him 'Dr Gary' out lout? He calls him that way in his head, but I'm not sure if he actually called him by his name directly. If so, then that's gonna be a nice first, too! I remember Mosk, too, didn't call Eran anything for a good while, and when he finally did, it was such an "ohhh" moment for me :3

It's definitely still early days for these two! Though they have just turned a huge corner together in chapter 19 (and it's twin chapter, 20).

Efnisien I don't think has ever called him 'Dr Gary' out loud, at least not to his face. So Gary's never even had the chance to correct him, lol, and say like 'just call me Gary.' It's going to happen at some point, but yeah that'll be a pretty big turning point too I think!

extended author's notes for the latest fic!

my muse works in such mysterious ways, I, um, dropped all my other projects just to finish this one because 1. I needed to get it out before the movie released okay and 2. Life in the Dreamhouse is my new favorite cartoon to watch while high and I am constantly thinking about these characters now.

I tried my absolute best to keep them all relatively in character, as much as one can when the source material is a kid’s cartoon. a hilarious, well-written kid’s cartoon, but still! the dialogue makes or breaks it in fics like these.

sometimes, in smut for younger-audience-cartoons, the dialogue can reallyyy take me out of it, especially when they curse. I did my best to moderate the amount of profanity, though I do think Ryan would curse if he'd been allowed to lol. hopefully, despite the departure in tone, readers will have minimal “THEY WOULD NOT FUCKING SAY THAT” moments. all of these characters are an absolute delight to write for, though.

I love the Ken & Ryan dynamic, though I wouldn’t particularly say I ship them. my tastes have changed a Lot in the past years and M/M ships are rather boring to me now, but I still think the relationship between these two is really funny and interesting. I wanted to play up their banter, with enough teasing and sexual tension without going overboard into hardcore generic yaoi.

in the canon of this fic... there is Probably an incident in the future where Barbie goads them both into making out and potentially even touching each other's junk, just so she can get off to watching em. they might even have a proper threesome at some point. I have WAY too many ideas for other interactions in this triad, not sure if I will ever get around to writing any of them but I think it's an underrated OT3! Barbie has one boyfriend to cry with over sad mushy romance movies who will go down on her for over an hour, and another boyfriend who she politely humors his songwriting struggles because she knows he wouldn't hesitate to try out a weird new kink with her. she's a queen for this.

in general, though, Ken is still her boy. but she has fun with Ryan, their little flings work because they both get fulfillment out of the physical relationship while knowing they aren’t super romantically compatible— Barbie is way too high maintenance for him lmao.

I was REALLY tempted to write a scene including Barbie and Ken’s initial discussion about opening up their bedroom, but the fic was long enough as is, plus I wanted it to stay entirely in Ryan’s pov. in any case -- they had an in depth conversation way in advance before asking him. they’re both secure enough in their feelings for each other that they had little hesitation with deciding to spread the love around.

also, my original draft had a second draft where this time they Barbie and Ken ask Raquelle if she'd be down to join them sometime, but then this spiraled out of control and ended up WAY too long. I may perhaps revisit it for a sequel someday if there is any interest!

I do have a lot of other LITD fic ideas though, I have a longform Barbie/Raquelle slowburn that's eating away inside me, I also might want to try writing Ryan/Midge, and maybe even... Barbie/Closet... I have Ideas for them O__O

at the charleston aquarium specifically (the one closest to me!), i always love seeing the dogfish touch tank and the jellyfish. and lobsters. and alligators. and basically everything. i was just there a few weeks ago! i got a plush shark from the gift shop (who still needs a name)

I will get down on my hands and knees and beg you for a tutorial on how you draw. Your lines, cross hatching, it looks so simple but so GREAT you make me want to chew on the walls.

well: i taught myself how to draw over a ridiculous 13 years of trial and error and "messing around".... any appearance of Knowledge or Foundations or Anatomy has basically been hardcoded into myself via the silliest and most literal kind of "style evolution" possible O__O i prob shouldn't go into detail on how i draw specific things/people bc i'd only embarrass myself! but i CAN get into the Technical side... >:D

as probably most ppl know or can guess, i draw everything traditionally with fineliners! more specifically i use a Four Pen System that i devised for maximum consistency/legibility...

0.1mm - shading, detail, tiny stuff!

0.3mm - most things, like characters and lettering!

0.7mm - BOLD lettering, speech bubble outlines, thicker lineart!

1.2mm - panel outlines, VERY BOLD lettering!

(optional: a brush pen for filling black bits in :P anything like that can be done in post though.)

i also use a non-photo blue pencil for all my sketching! VERY useful when scanning finished stuff >:)

as for the linework itself... my hands jitter a lot when i try drawing slow focused lines, so i usually just draw everything as quickly Yet precisely as possible :P it takes a weird kind of care to get right, but drawing on paper also helps - the friction keeps me steady lol! i find my hand just kinda darts and skips across, leaving a lot of messy dots behind, but i still like that look ^u^

hatching is definitely the most fun part... >:P my kinda style was inspired a lot by abby howard, and a bit of mizugiri (and above all, by never thinking to use proper screentones)! the usual straight-ahead hatching is obvs just muscle memory, and praying i don't mess up lol - but once you have that down, then just look around for more creative uses! i love doing curvy crosshatching around complex shapes, and coming up with wacky background shading... i've also tried out a depth-of-field effect, 'drawing' background objects by hatching and layering blurry shading on top >u> (also, i don't usually go for Full 90-degree crosshatching... just slowly raising the angle as i add more layers of shading feels a lot more subtle and natural!)

just never stop messing around!!! that's all i've ever done!! that's how you can keep stumbling upon cool new techniques that you can then suck up and add to your comicking arsenal ^u^

Interested in this one, are we? XD I already answered but I'll see if I can think of any others... hmm...

Like, I'm not really into romance stuff--like, EXTREMELY not into it, if I'm being honest, but I can and have written it on rare occasions (usually on request when I'm open for requests). But as I said before, there's some romance tropes I wouldn't write even then. One that I was reminded of is the hanahaki trope, which kindof goes along with the "soulmates" trope as coming across as weirdly amatonormative. Not to mention just... also weirdly manipulative? I mean, it's all fiction, obviously, but the whole concept of "I will literally die if you do not love me back" does not strike me as particularly romantic. I guess if it were written as more of a horror concept than a romance thing it might not be so bad. XDXD; But still not something I'd want to cover myself. Plus like, IIRC part of it is like, if you have the flowers surgically removed, you'll live, but then you'll never feel romantic love again like that's the Worst Thing in the World is ... yuck. (Though looking into this more, I think that may just be a variant, and that a more common one is that you just lose your feelings for the person entirely or lose the memory of them? Which, like, how is that worse than dying ??? o__O)

If I want to write about flowers slowly killing someone, I'll just write Grim Fandango fanfic. Which I have. That specific concept, too. XDXD;; (Er, flowers slowly killing someone, not the hanahaki thing specifically.)
