the only south park episodes ive seen are the starvin marvin one and the one where they get lost in the rainforest. only those two because my parents felt like i was missing key cultural information by not having seen them and it just made me uncomfortable

Thanksgiving Review: South Park episode "Starvin' Marvin in Space"

What is it and where can I get it? The second South Park Thanksgiving special, currently streaming on HBO Max.

What's it about? The sequel to the previously mentioned "Starvin' Marvin," it begins with an alien spaceship crashing near Marvin's African village. He manages to fly it, picks up the main cast, and then looks for a new planet that his people can move to. Some Christian missionaries serve as antagonists.

How Thanksgivingy is it?: Not really at all! I only mention it here because TPTB sometimes classify it as a Thanksgiving episode, for marathons and such, but it's not. It just features a character introduced in a Thanksgiving episode. I'm mostly including it for completeness.

Is it good? Eh? It has some jokes that SP fans will find memorable (the Marklars, mostly), but it's not particularly festive or clever. Also, while I often say that SP is one of the best mainstream shows when it comes to depictions of religion, I would not say that about this particular episode.

Anything else? I'm tempted to rewrite this whole review to be in the Marklar language, just for fun.

For those asking about the fire-damaged Circus Playhouse band, here's a great up-close-and-personal check in video by funtownfollies, who has also offered to send us some photos of the gang too!

On one hand, it's sad that these guys have little chance of restoration. On the other hand, though, I'm beyond grateful that they're in safe hands and can still be appreciated (in public, too!). I'm super glad Starvin' Marvin is there as well (albeit out of reach); he's my favorite!

It's still phenomenal that these guys survived, both the fire and time itself passing from owner to owner. They're incredible pieces of animatronic history!
