These are all new images with three of these looking to be concept art: the presumably Orlesian woman looking at Andrastian themed items, the antaam spearman preparing to throw a spear, and the table setting of what looks like it might be for Rivain or Tevinter based on the aesthetic. Though I lean more Tevinter due to the snake on the basket.

The bowl and platter look to maybe be prop designs, and they are distinctly bird themed with what looks like feathers around the base of the bowl and then mirrored crows on either side of the platter with a dagger etched in the center.

The red bear shown here is new, though it is similar to a mural in Dragon Age: Inquisition in the barn where there is a green-ish bear with stars on its muzzle breathing what might be fire, while holding the white silhouette of a figure with antlers. (Couldn't attach it due to there being a photo limit.)

Then to further note that the dark blue building image looks similar to some concept art/Development images from Dragon Age: Dreadwolf (DA4)

Final Thoughts and Implied World State

Overall the world state makes a lot of sense I think, they went with the one that would be less quantum - so no one is dead or could be dead and is in an important role; hence Cassandra being Divine,

Summary

Inquisition is disbanded

Grey Wardens are divided; though as of the comics and Tevinter Nights we know regardless all Wardens have been called back to Weisshaupt. Unclear if the civil war mentioned in DAI is actually happening.

Morrigan has Kieran and he doesn't have the old god soul anymore

Cole is human

Josephine had her personal quest done.

Leliana wasn't killed in Origins, she is fully human and now retired.

Alistair is king

Cassandra is Divine, no clear answer on the state of the Seekers.

Cullen is retired and established the sanctuary for former templars.

I think another spin on what may or may not occur with daemyra in future seasons has to go all the way back to the "we were meant to burn together'" phrase. Im seeing on twitter and some tumblr posts that the showrunners can take that and the ' it's us against the world' story as a way to represent that they get actually grow closer as the war progresses. sure, it might not be the case bc rhaenyra will get traumatized as it continues but literally how that is going to be portrayed on the show will be up in the air by the writers (not you sara hess) and not to mention how the actors are going to translate the script on their own interpretation. I'd really like for them to go down this route of their bond strengthening because it'd make the "two sides of the same coin" thing stated by emma d'arcy and the "strength of being slightly outsiders" by matt smith to make sense.

some people are also playing with the idea that they both go down in a way that parallels each other, so either daemon will die by flames during the battle over god's eye and rhaenyra with sunfyre or maybe if they tweak it that much then they both die in flames with each other.

just wishing upon a star at this point but it's fun to play around with this instead of the other idea which involves a storyline that is the book. I mean the show has already added in so much stuff that wasn't in it and to completely go back and fully adapt the book version would contradict a lot of the plot that's being set up right now in season 1.

in the end, it's completely irrefutable that daemon did die with the vow to protect rhaenyra, his family, and the house. that they cannot take away no matter how they spin it. whether or not their love story remains splintered or strengthened in the show, time will tell.

I would like to tell you that they are really going to do what you and many people have theorized, but because of how they have built the main characters, it is very possible that Daemon will start the s2 lost in the mountains looking for dragon riders while fucking women, man and goats, only thinking about the war because his almost 60 year gediatric ass can only think about the adrenaline of battle and not about his family.

Meanwhile Rhaenyra will be in Dragonstone crying for Alicent holding that stupid crumpled up sheet of paper against her chest.

Forgotten Light: Chapter 6: Enchantress

A/N: Hey everyone. Going to start uploading at night so I can focus better during the day. Enjoy this short bit. Kendra isn’t going to get a lot of action at this point, so it’s training for her.

Chapter 6: Enchantress

The following morning, Kendra had Ronodin’s bag of gifts organized on the craft table in the library. Ronodin had added little labels, listing the general source and possible magic properties of each item. The ingredients were kind of icky. Fabric that was various blends of cotton, wool, hair of zombie, hair of Litche, milkweed, nettles, and deathknell spider silk, was in the first section. Wood blocks were in the second section, varieties of elder, damnation redwood, wood from the heart of hamadryad trees, blinding pine, and some from the Dedona forest of insanity. Paint mixtures in the third section, they came with various combinations of fairy blood, unicorn blood, phantom tears, poison, and reverent spit.

She decided that the wood blocks were the least gross and least possible to screw up. Reading more into their descriptions, she settled on balsa wood from the heart of a hamadryad tree. Hamadryads were nature spirits, connected to specific trees. It seemed a vulnerable wood that would help her craft an amulet for protection.

Without her memories, she felt vulnerable. Ronodin had given her an idea of who she was, but that wasn’t the same as being the person he knew. It wasn’t even the same as wanting to be that person, even though old Kendra sounded pretty cool.

Ronodin had assured her that while her family had disapproved, being an enchantress was her passion. The art of crafting magical items was almost entirely lost, but Kendra was one of the few that could bring it back. Her family had been worried about an influx of magical items falling into the wrong hands though, destroying their monopoly on the magical market. Luckily Ronodin had managed to secure most the replacements for the stuff she had forgotten to take with her.

She and Ronodin had read the how-to chapters together, and he specified which parts she was able to skip due to her status as fairy kind. She didn’t need pentagrams or runes, for example, but she did need to imbue the item with intent.

An amulet seemed like a good start. They were one of easiest since they were meant to be worn, and didn’t have a functionalty/magic property duality to worry about. She wanted a protective amulet, and browsing through her guidebook’s symbol glossary, Kendra settled on one that would make her enemies feel weak and distracted the closer they got to her.

Kendra carefully selected the knives she would need, and sketched out her design. A chain broken in six different places, at the points of a star, would go around the edges, and it would encircle a blob human. Circle for a head, hunched forward, the back at a diagonal, knees bent, hands on knees.

The second half of how to make the amulet was to ‘work the feelings into the material that makes the effect desirous’. Ronodin had explained that part too. She would take a hold of a little part of her magic, not all of it, but a little bit of the flame inside her, and feed it with emotion, bringing out that specific aspect of her magic, metaphysically drawing it into her hand and her tool. Then she would focus on separating that magic from herself, pushing it into an object with every touch, before cutting it off. Negative emotions worked best, because those lasted much longer than positive emotions, were easier to work, and attached themselves more readily to physical objects.

She took fear: fear of seeing people blasted into ash, fear of being stolen away in the night, fear of jump scares, fear of the dark she sometimes felt, pressing in around her. She took annoyance: annoyance with Ronodin’s stupid games, of being stuck underground, or losing her memories. And she took dismissiveness: it wouldn’t hurt them, just make them weak enough that she could escape or disarm them. They were in her way and needed to remove themselves, like Ronodin’s uncomfortable flirting, like the block on her memory, and like that loud dragon that kept yelling at everyone.

With each emotion, she physically made a pinching motion near her heart, and pulled out a thread of her magic and added it to the wood she carved through her knife. Technically she didn’t have to do the physical motion, the magic followed her will not her body, but it helped her focus. How good she was at this part was debatable, because while she should have been focusing on the emotions and pressing the magic into the wood, she kept having to refer back to her woodcarving guide for advice on what to do next.

Kendra cut herself twice, small knicks that stopped bleeding by the time she got the bandages out. She tried to wipe her blood off, but probably didn’t get everything. Hopefully her blood wouldn’t spoil the enchantment. Sanding until smooth felt very satisfying, letting her muscles get used in ways they hadn’t since trapping herself here. The finished product was pretty round (she could fit it into the top of her water glass), a little smaller than her palm, but good for her first try after forgetting everything.

She was a little surprised she wasn’t tired yet. One of the perks of living on your own while hiding out from your family was no one was around to tell you when to go to bed. Still, she didn’t want to throw her sleep schedule off too much, and so one paint job before bed. Instead of trying to paint in the details, she would make it all one color. When she got better at painting, maybe she could add in the details of the chain and the figure, and adding the effects of the paint would hopefully make up for what she couldn’t do in carving.

Looking over her selection of paints, which Ronodin promised were fairly sourced, she tried to feel out her options. When imagining the effect she wanted to have, it involved people turning pale, like the moment you stand up too fast, and you feel weak and can’t move.

Looking over the whites, she had three options: a silvery one of primer mixed with unicorn blood, a creamier one with magic goat milk and naiad tears, and a standard white that used Hemlock and Lethe water. She didn’t want the creamy color, and Lethe water was all about forgetting important things, which she had enough of to last a lifetime, so Kendra selected the paint with unicorn blood.

It was so fascinating what contained magical properties. Tears, blood, milk, poison, hair, it was said something about sacrifice and DNA and where magic comes from that was absolutely fascinating. She was starting to understand why she had been obsessed with it before.

Painting didn’t take nearly as much concentration as carving, and from the first dip of the paintbrush she focused on weakening those who wished her ill. Whatever she had done, the person occupying this body couldn’t be responsible for the past. Imagining her magic travelling from insider herself, down her arm, into the paintbrush, it smeared and soaked into the amulet. Harm her body or harm her spirit, and the enemy would start falling apart before they could touch her. Celebrant, the dwarf that took her memories, they would fall to the ground before they got close to her, too weak to do anything but watch her escape.

When she felt good about the paint coating, she went to the library and hung it over her fire to dry. Tired after that little bit of crafting, she picked up the book she had been reading before to take it with her to bed.

Kendra settled into bed and tried to find the page she was on before Ronodin made her drop it. She had been ending a page, and…the next page had been torn out. She hadn’t noticed it on her first read through. She had liked this book! And the gray areas those pages talked about were exactly what Ronodin had said she was interested in that her family wasn’t. It would have been nice to learn about it from another source.

The next page picked up on what was known about the Fair Folk, the Forgotten Crown, because while they were equal to the others in power technically their neutrality limited them so much as to keep anyone from caring about them. In modern times, people only ever referred to the Five Crowns, or the Five Thrones, but they shouldn’t discount the Fair Folk…

08/08/2021-Green and Wood Sandpiper and more along the Titchfield Canal path and a look at Hill Head

We made a visit to another place we have known for years and was influential in our early birdwatching today with a walk along the Titchfield canal path by Titchfield Haven national nature reserve the first one we ever visited when we began birdwatching in 2007. We had come to see some bird species reported on the Bridge Street flood by the Bridge Street car park at the Titchfield end of the path where we parked. I took the first, second, fifth and sixth pictures in this photoset here looking lovely on a great afternoon. Walking along to begin with it was great to see some butterflies on a mostly sunny afternoon and I managed to as I’d hoped do my final Big Butterfly Count survey of 2021 with it ending today. I saw one Red Admiral, winning the first one for me this year and possibly ever three Speckled Wood, one Small White one of the stars of my counts this year, two Gatekeepers another star and a Peacock. I have had such immense fun counting butterflies for the last three weeks. It’s one of the Big Butterfly counts I most anticipated this year knowing what it was like last year working from home just how many I could do on Lakeside lunch time walks and I did so many here again I didn’t miss many days when doing counts over the time. I just loved getting lost in meadows and other habitats looking for butterflies and counting them and pitting these glorious species against each other and seeing which one could come out on top. I found it truly engaging and captivating and a fantastic activity to throw myself into during these crucial stages in my butterfly year and key time for wildlife generally. It’s such a positively addictive activity and I have felt so lucky in one of my most extraordinary years of butterflies to see so many of these smashing species very locally, elsewhere in Hampshire and even once in Dorset. I hope my previous post earlier this evening explains how this has been a Big Butterfly Count like no other for me.

I saw a nice array of flowers this afternoon too including bindweed which I took the third picture in this photoset of teasel as shown in the fourth picture in this photoset, comfrey which was a lovely one to see which I took the seventh picture in this photoset of, nettles including one in the eighth picture I took today in this photoset, ragwort and dock carpeting the landscape in yellow and red nicely, hawksbeard/catsear type ones, mallow, great willowherb and the smashing riverine species the purple loosestrife glowing especially nicely in the sun.

With others we watched the flood and I was delighted to get quick sightings of one flying and then some more prolonged views in the telescope of one of the key targets today Green Sandpipers. We fell short of the Garganeys that had been around but did get a quick view of a Wood Sandpiper as well I was pleased to see it as my second of the year after one on a fantastic Sunday in May at Farlington Marshes with my first White-fronted Goose, Whimbrel and Painted Lady of 2021 and more seen that day. Two smart and beautiful birds to see. Later on around this area I got a smashing and intimate view of a neat Whitethroat on the fence line, saw some Stock Doves flying and then picked out a pair of this sweet pigeon in a slightly distant field and saw some bronze plumage Black-tailed Godwits on the flood. It was interesting to see farm animals goat and ponies which always make a nice sight here in the and around the flood too I hadn’t seen them in the water before. 

Green Sandpiper is a year tick today, one I will often hunt a sighting of at this time of year. As a sighting of one did last year at Alresford Pond it ensured I got a year tick in August to mean I’ve still not gone a whole month without a bird year tick since November 2015. This made me happy as I last year it came a whole month after my year tick prior which funnily enough was a Common Sandpiper, and today’s came not far off a month after my last year think the Turtle Dove at Knepp on 10th July. When I get a year tick in August it can start a surge of seeing a few more as we head towards autumn with things getting busier for birds. I always enjoy seeing the Green Sandpiper so it was great to get it seen this year on a top weekend of sandpipers for me with the Wood Sandpiper and the Common Sandpiper at Blashford Lakes yesterday.

As the sun truly came out we called into Hill Head on the way back on the way and there as we had done on the walk taking in very pleasant sun kissed views I got the ninth picture in this photoset looking into Titchfield Haven. I liked seeing two young or female Moorhens in a piece of water that the road crosses on the way. At Hill Head I added to the nostalgia seeing Turnstone and Oystercatcher both among the first birds we ever saw in the beginning of our birdwatching days here on early visits and on the shore where they were foraging an Oystercatcher walked past a Turnstone and it was interesting to see it dwarf it. A group of shiny white Ringed Plovers and Common Terns flying made a nice sight at this beautiful spot too before we took off back home into a stunning evening in the sun with great views crossing a top spot looking down the River Hamble along the motorway which I always like taking in after spending the time today by the River Meon. Tonight I took in the pretty flowers out the back in the sunshine before getting in with hebe, dahlia and others looking great and a little sunflower which I took the tenth and final picture in this photoset of the first in flower this year in the garden with a couple grown high and developing too which was nice with the yarrow which I also photographed and tweeted on Dans_Pictures tonight and other plants growing outside the fence looking nice too. A brilliant wild weekend of relaxation and nostalgia. I hope you all had a good weekend.

Wildlife Sightings Summary: My first Green Sandpiper of the year, one of my favourite birds the Little Egret, one of my favourite butterflies the Red Admiral, one of my favourite dragonflies the Emperor, Wood Sandpiper, Turnstone, Ringed Plover, Oystercatcher, Lapwing, Black-tailed Godwit, Common Tern, Herring Gull, Black-headed Gull, Mallard, there were a couple of other ducks we saw which we were under the impression was Teal when out there which would be an interesting one as they are typically winter birds but on getting home we found the Garganey there are eclipsed drake so we may well have seen them and mistook them for the Teals or Mallards but I felt there’s no way we’ll know now and with no pictures taken on the birds I just could never be sure if they were the Garganey but you never know, Coot, Moorhen, Canada Goose, Cormorant well, lots of House Martins nicely over Bridge Street and Posbrook floods, Whitethroat, nice Goldinches, Stock Dove, Woodpigeon, Speckled Wood, Small White, Peacock, Gatekeeper, hoverfly and ant.
