Considering how much you struggled with Satan's design, if you were to go back and change it, what would you have done differently?

I don't think anything would have changed in Satan's design, because I'm absolutely happy with the current :D the difficulty was to put thoughts together and decide what I want to see in his style (I wanted to save the glowing veins on his bicep and portray him in more ascetic clothes, but at the same time add some armor details)

So like, been wondering this for a while but how does time...pass in Eden and Sheol? Do they have 24 hours day like on Earth? Do they have seasons? Is it the case of eternal day (for Eden) or eternal night (for Sheol)? Or does time work differently for both afterlives?

Asileverse!AU: about time in general

time is the only constant in all three worlds that is the same, but it's perceived differently

in brief, time in the mortal world is burdened with flesh and rapid completion of the life cycle

mortal humans used to live longer, but over time, everything became... too fast

actually, that's why shedim and malachim (as well as their descendants) perceive the passage of time pretty freely: their full adulthood begins with a standard seventy years (a sacred number), and they live many, MANY times longer than humans, or often even immortal

Charlie was HORRIFIED when she found out that by the age of seventy, mortal humans have time to grow up/have children/grandchildren/even great-grandchildren/grow old/get sick/die: for her, seventy years is the beginning of life!

once Charlie burst into tears when she realized that Husk was the oldest in her gang at the time of first death (he was fifty-three years old)

Husk saw her and was like, hey, chill, I didn't die young, I begoted and raised several children!

...and about Eden and Sheol in more detail

neither Eden nor Sheol have an obvious change of seasons

however, they still follow the annual cycle due to the lunar cycles, harvest time and dividing into months, starting from Nisan (March-April)

the issue of the lunar cycle is ESPECIALLY relevant for Sheol, given that they are cut off from ordinary stargazing! due to the influence of the Moon on water, hellborns determine the passage of time due to the tides in underground rivers, lakes and ponds

also Sheol has no concept of morning/day/evening/night: the locals look at the water and the flowering of moss

in addition, they have astronomers like Stolas or Morax, who officially regulate the calendar

the seasons in both worlds are strongly tied to the harvest season, as in many archaic cultures: during the harvest time creatures of Sheol and Eden celebrate the week of world's creation

in Sheol, on the occasion of the harvest (they have a lot of edible things starting from moss and ending with local crops that don't need the sun), there are always noisy, riotous carnivals and feasts

winter happens periodically, but this is an irregular natural disaster connected with Cocytus, — as a rule, this happens every couple of centuries and lasts a standard year or two

it's quite difficult for mortals to understand the new passing of time, and this is especially true for Sheol: people lose main reference points, like a change of day and starry sky

sinners, until their eyes get used to underworld lighting sources, feel as if they live in constant night

Eden has the change of day and night (yes, the nights here are bright because of the stars, but that's still nights!), so it's easier for mortal humans to maintain their previous life cycle

as a result, mortals in Eden keep their sanity

hellborns are prone to uranophobia; fallen angels miss sky, sun, moon and stars

I like to study the history of different cultures and myths (tbh I'm not a devout Christian, but I'm really interested in this as an important cultural layer) and try to connect characters with many things which seems interesting for me ❤

Do the sins have a specific physical or mental age? This is something I personally keep in mind when designing immortal characters.

physical age is a very fluid thing if we talk about non-human and very old creatures, but I'll try ❤️

Beelzebub: 60+, but VERY active

Asmodeus: maybe ~35?

Mammon: has stopped at ~50

Satan: was born old inside, but close to 40 physically

Belphegor: ~50, such as Mammon

Lucifer: somewhere between 18 and 488

Leviathan: time abyss

Im surprised that your interpretation of Asmodeus is a patron of warriors, considering thats usually portrayed as Wrath's domain.

In my experience, lust is generally more associated with artists, like the Toreador vampire clan in vampire: the masquerade and the chaos god Slaanesh and their followers on Warhammer 40k.

How are Asileverse Satan and Asmodeus different in their attitude a towards violence, bloodshed and rage?

I understand your confusion :D but let me explain!

I took more archaic interpretation of Asmodeus, where he's seen as the embodiment of rage, quite spontaneous and violent; most likely (this is my interpretation) such a representation is associated with barbarian raids; since lust is a feeling that doesn't take into account the desire of a partner, one of its manifestations can be considered a violent sexual act, — war raids, unfortunately, were often accompanied by... such things

The name Asmodai is believed to derive from the Avestan aēšma-daēva, where aēšma means wrath; <...> the compound aēšma-daēva is not attested in scripture. It is nonetheless likely that such a form did exist, and that the Book of Tobit's Asmodaios (Ἀσμοδαῖος) and the Talmud's Ashmedai (אשמדאי) reflect it.

Asmodeus in my interpretation is pretty aggressive, disdainful of the institution of marriage, fidelity and children; he patronizes men who don't want to burden themselves with such a burden and don't have high moral standards (of course, there are not only warriors among his entourage, it's just that this category appeals to him the most)

one of Asmodeus favourite Tainted sinners is Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta; yes, he was a tyrant and condottiero (VERY successful), but that didn't stop him from being a patron of the arts!

if we talk about Satan, they have a fundamentally different approach to wrath: Satan is an adept of cold rage (that is, EXTREMELY prudent, knowing how to specifically hurt a person and bring out emotions), but Asmodeus is a disaster, indifferent to individual fears and guided only by instincts
