I've read this fic twice in the last five days, that's how much I love it. Derek and Stiles are both feral little gremlins (affectionate) in love, and the writing is incredibly witty. Go read it!

Stiles has always been able to somewhat fight off the vampiric hypnotism that keeps the captive humans a docile food source. After a particularly cruel encounter with some of the younger vampires, Stiles takes Scott and breaks free, but is forced to leave the rest of their family behind.

They are fortunate enough to be saved by humans that work as hunters, teaching other humans how to fight against the vampire menace. As Stiles learns to fight, he meets werewolf packs that are allied with the hunters. To save his family, he'll have to decide what personal compromises he's willing to make and if there are any lines he won't cross.

It lands with a thud on the clifftop, hard enough to shake the entire thing and knock Clint on his ass. He barely even notices; he’s too busy staring at the giant red creature perched in front of him. It stares back, blinking slowly.

“Holy stars,” Clint says, staring at him, suddenly remembering the stories he used to read as a kid. “You’re a drakkon?”

The goose, when it materializes, is not something that can be ignored. It’s a hurricane of feathers and smacking wings and a surprising amount of claws, hell bent on murder. Any goose is too much for most people, and an enraged soulmate goose is certainly far too much for Jason’s would-be abductor, who is lucky to escape with the distinctive scarring that a goose to the face will give you, as well as several broken bones from falling backwards down the stairs.

Catherine does not wake up. Jason, who has always slept like the dead (and as such been an absolute delight of a baby), sleeps on, oblivious.

The goose preens at the top of the stairs, self-satisfied, before it disappears.

He doesn't expect the Soldier to imprint on him like a duckling - a duckling whose eyes glow like an animal's in the dark, who swims like a dolphin, who catches fish with his bare hands, and who seems more at home in the ocean than he does on land.

Day Four: Ancient Things

Stiles’ mother had always warned him to keep his name guarded. She had even given him a name so unpronounceable that the average American wouldn’t even bother trying to say it, much less remember it. Sure, a select few knew his name but even they couldn’t pronounce it, save for his dad.

He had only been 18 for a week when Peter started sniffing around. It wasn’t that Stiles wasn’t flattered or particularly receptive, but honestly, it was kinda cramping his style. He knows that sounds harsh, but Stiles had a secret and a birthright to try out, and though he didn’t think it would make any difference to Peter, it was just too dangerous for anyone to know.

After all, the truth is what got his mother killed. It was easy to pass her death off as frontotemporal dementia after that zmora ate her soul and left her body nothing more than an upright and confused corpse.
