Mahershala Ali should come to the DCU, & here's 10 Characters he should play
Tumblr media
Mahershala Ali is a force on the small and big screen, and was an incredible get for Marvel. Not only has he portrayed great characters in comic book media like Titan in Invincible, Prowler in The Spider-Verse, or Cottonmouth in the first season of Luke Cage, but he was set to be the focal point of the mystic universe as the MCU's Blade.
Tumblr media
Although announced in 2019, the film no longer has a script, and as of today, has been dropped from the Marvel schedule.
This is a huge loss for comic book fans but also Ali. This was clearly a project he was excited about, and an actor of his skill has more then enough chops and skill to carry his own franchise, or at least be a major player in one.
Tumblr media
With the DCU on the rise and Marvel success dipping, perhaps this could be a win for DC and Ali by having him join their soon to be flourishing universe. He's an incredible actor, with range, skill, a huge name and a fanbase.
I began to compile of list of characters in dc comics and animation I thought Ali would kill as, but I came up against a very unusual problem.
You see, I did a similar list this year with Chris Pratt, as I assume he will join eventually, with 5 characters I thought he'd be good as. I had every intention to keep this list that short.
But compiling ideas for Ali became difficult because, he is SO good. I ended up with dozens of characters I can see him nailing, both heroes and villains, and cut it down to about ten that excite me.
So let's dive into the DCU, looking at characters I think most likely will appear, and decide who Ali should play.
10. Scarecrow (Doctor Jonathan Crane)
Tumblr media
Mahershala Ali has a feature that few actors do that makes him great for casting. He has an intense strong voice.
This voice can be menacing, and along with his physical prowess, he could make for a terrifying version of the Scarecrow.
Scarecrow is a pretty well known Gotham villain, known for his signature fear gas and mask. He has been portrayed across Batman media pretty consistently, although I think Ali could make him more terrifying and sympathetic.
Scarecrow has been played by Cillian Murphy, making the role desirable to big name actors. There was a lot left to be desired from the role as far as comic accuracy goes, so perhaps we can get a much more intense suit like in Gotham.
Tumblr media
My main problem against this is simple, we've seen Scarecrow, way too often. And Ali deserves a role where he can pop in more than just a car chase every now and then, or worse: one film.
So while this would be fun, I think we can do much better. Speaking of the Bat...
9. The Batman (Bruce Wayne)
Tumblr media
The DCU is likely looking for a big name to take on the symbol of the Bat, and Ali just lost his ninja vampire movie. Kind of feels like a good fit.
Ali is suave, cool and could make a very different Bruce Wayne than we've seen before, but more importantly, he'd be the first Black man to take on the iconic role. An actor of his talents can compete with the already widely loved Pattinson version.
Tumblr media
Do I think he has the chops for it? Yes, clearly.
But one thing that should be brought into consideration is his age. Ali is already 50, meaning he'd be going into a very physical role into his mid 50s to 60s.
While he would be good no doubt, I think his skills could be used elsewhere, and frankly a lot of people want and could do Batman.
8. Steel (John Henry Irons)
Tumblr media
With Superman premiering next year, one of his greatest allies could come with within the sequel, Henry Irons AKA Steel.
Steel is an engineer who creates a suit of Armor after being saved by Superman. When Steel is done right, he embodies the hope that Superman inspires into Humanity.
Tumblr media
Steel has been adapted poorly by Shaquille O'Neal (do not watch his movie) but very well be Wolé Parks in Superman and Lois, and is itching for a debut in the DCU. The Steel / Superman duo is iconic, and could different the DCU Superman from others.
Tumblr media
While Ali would crush this role, and look incredible in the suit, having Mahershala as a side player in a Superman trilogy doesn't feel like using him to his full potential. Plus build wise, Irons is more coal miner than lean build.
7. Martian Manhunter (J'onn J'onzz)
Tumblr media
Martian Manhunter feels like the most obvious choice for Ali if he wanted to be a hero in the DCU.
Manhunter plays a critical role in the Justice League, often acting as controller of the Watch Tower, and is extremely loner figure.
Though he can transform into anyone, Manhunter tends to prefer the form of a black man in the comics. Ali could be an excellent detective, as he literally was in True Detective, and his alien form as a hero.
Tumblr media
Manhunter at times has played a mentor role to Superman, and at 50 Ali has a wisdom to him that could translate very easily to Manhunter.
Tumblr media
This role is a great one. I don't see Manhunter getting a show or movie, but instead serving as connective tissue between movies and films.
In my mind, Manhunter could transform and be different characters across the DCU, culminating in him teaming up the League by discovering a mystery and needing help to stop it.
Tumblr media
While I like this one a lot, I still have a few a like more. From this point on, it's all just characters I'm very excited about.
6. Captain Cold (Leonard Snart)
Tumblr media
Okay guys, this one is for me. As a fan of the Flash TV show, I love Captain Cold.
A fun thief with a petty grudge against The Flash, Smart would be the perfect introduction villain to the DCU version of The Flash.
Tumblr media
With the signature Cold Gun, jacket and glasses, Ali could make this villain compelling, fun and sympathetic, just like Keaton did for the Vulture.
However unlike Vulture, I'd love Cold to be a recurring villain in the Flash's life, maybe even carry over to an eventual Suicide Squad, and continue to be a thorn in the side of the Justice League, along with his Rogues.
Tumblr media
Could Ali do this? Yes. Would this be a waste of his talents? Maybe. But I'd love it.
It's not near the level of Blade though, so let's look to see what else DC has to offer.
5. The Monitor (Mar Novu)
Tumblr media
Often a bad sign of things to come, The Monitor is embodiment of all positive matter, and the main enemy of his antithesis , the Anti-Monitor.
This makes The Monitor instrumental in the DC event Crisis on Infinite Earth's, as the one who assembles our heroes and plays multiversal chess to save universes.
Tumblr media
I'm not sure if this is the route DC wants to go with it's heroes, but if this is something they want to explore, establishing Mar Novu early as a sort of Watcher figure could help establish him in the universe, and set him up for his eventual fight with the Anti-Monitor.
Tumblr media
Ali can play a multiversal billions of years old God, and bring great energy to the role. But this isn't as sure of a role than the others on this list, so I'd say we can fit him somewhere else.
4. General Zod (Dru Zod)
Tumblr media
One of Superman's most iconic enemies, General Zod will likely eventually turn up in the DCU. And with the trend toward Zod being black, in Young Justice & Krypton, Ali may be perfect for the role.
While Ali has done villains in the past, this would be a much different kind of icon. Zod has already had two iconic performances, meaning Ali would really have to bring it to be in the conversation.
Tumblr media
In the new DCU, Zod could be more than a Superman villain, he may be a Justice League villain. Having Ali's Zod as the opener for the first Justice League movie could make the film a hit, with a character general audiences know in a new light.
The main problem I'm seeing is comparisons to the old DCEU. People already compare Gunn to Snyder constantly, especially their Supermen. Will the comparison to Michael Shannon ruin the film?
Tumblr media
It's tough to say, but I do not want to risk it.
3. Brainiac
Tumblr media
Ideally, this would be the main villain of the first Justice League film.
Brainiac is an artificial intelligence, often from Krypton, hell bent on shrinking worlds to add to his collection. He's powerful, intelligent, and ruthless. While he has been adapted quite a few times, it has yet to be on film.
This is a character fans have been dreaming of coming to the big screen and being adapted right, and Ali could give an incredible voice / mo-cap performance along the lines of James Spader.
It's not the headline franchise he deserves, but the main villain isn't a bad gig. Brainiac's arrival could be terrifying with Ali onboard. And this could be a role he takes on once, and perhaps down the line he get's to do Blade.
2. Saint Walker (Bro'Dee Walker)
Tumblr media
Probably the most different character, Saint Walker is a Blue Lantern and a side character in Green Lantern comics.
Saint Walker is a priest living on the planet of Astonia, a doomed planet. Once he calms his despairing people and gives them hope in the face of extinction, a power ring chooses him as a member of the Blue Lantern Corps, the Lanterns of Hope. With his ring, he sets his sun's age back 8.9 billion years, thereby saving his home planet.
Walker is a peaceful powerful monk like character, who I'd love to see interact with our Lanterns either in their show or in upcoming films. While again this is a very small role, Ali could bring strong, peaceful presence to the voice of Walker, likely making him a fan favorite much like he was in the Green Lantern Animated Series. I think it would be very similar to his role in Ramy, which is one of my personal favorites.
Tumblr media
1. Swamp Thing (Alec Holland)
Tumblr media
If we're looking for a role that is mystical, different than what he's played before, and already set to be made, Swamp Thing would be perfect for Ali.
Protector of the Green and Justice League Dark member Swamp Thing is already set to have a film in DC's God's & Monsters under James Mangold.
Swamp Thing is a monster who protects the "Green" and is often a part of the magical side of the DC universe much like Blade. While this wouldn't be a role where Ali looks as cool as Blade, it would be just as iconic to comic fans.
This could be a mo-cap performance similar to Brainiac that keeps Ali in the DCU as a pillar.
While he is consistently in the DCU, he is a character who likes to be left alone in the swamp, meaning it's not a role Ali needs to reprise often.
This is a monstrous tragic role that Ali could bring real pathos too, and under the guide of a great director like Mangold, Swamp Thing could be a huge win for DC.
Tumblr media
Mahershala Ali should be the DCU's Swamp Thing, so both he and DC can make Marvel very angry.
Thank you for reading! If you like this, be sure to follow me on all my socials here! And let me know: Who do you want Mahershala Ali as in the DCU?

Ellie wasn't born a Halfa
So! Jason just found something weird. Or rather. Someone.
A little girl, no more than 6 or 7, crying behind a dumpster in an alleyway. Now, as unfortunate as it is, this isn't that strange a sight in Gotham. Kids are always running away from home, getting lost, being left homeless after a mugging gone wrong, but this time was different.
Because the kid was glowing.
When he found her hiding behind the Dumpster, a medical gown being the only thing she had to protect herself from thr frigid Gotham Winter, he didn't hesitate to give her his Jacket and take her to his nearest safe house.
(Actually it took a little while to convince her to accept the Jacket, and even longer to get her to agree to being taken to his safe house, but they got there in the end.)
When he had finally gotten her set up in a side room of the Warehouse, with the most comfortable bed and thickest Blankets he could find, he tried asking what had happened.
"Daddy lied." She said. "He said he loved me, but then he made another kid and said he didn't care about me."
And, once again, it was unfortunately not that uncommon to see runaway kids from neglectful homes, but the way she said it raised some flags in his head.
"...and, how did you end up in Gotham?"
"I ran. He said I was a spare, and that scared me."
Well, that was even more horrible than he had anticipated. What kind of monster tells their kid that they're a spare?!
"And, I'm sorry if this is a touchy subject but why are you glowing?"
She just buried her face in the Blankets and shook her head.
"Alright then, that's fine. You can tell me when you're ready, or even not tell me at all, I'll accept either or".
For the next few weeks, Jason juggled running his newly created criminal empire and raking care of the kid. He still hadn't gotten a name out of her, but she said to call her "Dp" instead. 'It's the best I'm gonna get', he thought.
It was only after a few more weeks, right before he was about to begin his Plan of confronting Bruce about the Joker still being alive, that she approached him and agreed to tell him everything. He was actually really glad that she finally seemed to trust him enough to tell him.
"Okay Dp, you can start wherever you want."
"...well, I guess I should start with my name..." She started, "...or rather, my lack of one..."
"What?" Asked Jason in a soft voice.
"I, I don't have a name." She explained, "Daddy never gave me one. He just called me DP-2."
"...what do you mean by two?" Asked Jason.
"It-It's my Experiment Number." She said, stuttering a little, "I'm not a normal person, I'm a Clone. I was made to be daddy's perfect child, but I was just the test run. He said that I wasn't needed after he made DP-3, and that all I was good for was spare parts."
Jason felt his throat dry up. Dp was a Clone? Of who? Who made her? What right did that guy have to reject her?! Who in their right mind would make a Clone and then reject the Clone?! How dare he!
The Pits perked up
He felt the Pits rising a little, but managed to push them down. Dp needed support, not the Pits.
"It's Okay kid." He said, holding her had reassuringly. "It's perfectly okay to be different. I accept you as you are, and I'm sure as hell not gonna abandon you that easily. Or, ever really. You're stuck with me, whether you like it or not."
She giggled, and hugged him. A thoughtful look crossed her face, and she pulled away.
"There is one other thing...you know how I glow sometimes?" She asked.
The Pits felt a sense of dread
Jason felt like he wasn't going to like this. "Yeah?"
"Well, when I said I was meant to be a Clone, I never mentioned who of." She explained slowly. "He's a kid named Danny, and when he was 14, he had an accident where he died and came back as a Half Undead."
No...
Jason really wasn't liking where this was going.
"When Da-Vlad tried to make me, he realized that those powers couldn't be cloned..." She paused here, seemingly gathering the courage to continue. "...they needed to be added afterwards."
NO.
He didn't. He had better not have, for his own Fucking Sake, he had better not have done what Jason thinks he did.
"So one day, he took he down to the Lab, and he put me in a big machine." He voice broke a little. "He locked me in there, and then I think...that I died..."
...
For once, Jason felt completely in tune with the Pits. He was going to Kill that guy.
...
Sorry if this feels a little rushed, I kept going back to add or change parts of it.
Basically, Vlad realized that you can't Clone a Halfa. So, he made a workaround. He just stuck his first Viable Clone into a Portal, and let the machine Kill her. When he realized that it worked, he knew he had no use for Ellie anymore aside from spare parts.
And he told her as much, Vlad is a fucking asshole.
Ellie, of course, got scared and ran away. She ended up in Gotham, and was adopted by Jason right at the start of his Criminal Career.
When Jason finally hears about the rest of his kids' Backstory, he decides that Batman can wait his turn. He needs to go Kill that Vlad Bastard.

WIP Ask Game: I would very much like anything more you have on Specter of Starlight. It holds a special place in my heart, being the writing through which I discovered your incredible works.
Awwwwww .////. <3
So this scene might change, as I figure out how permanently injured Danny is, as this is VERY late fic, but:
Danny leaned forward, just enough to press his fingertips against the thick acrylic of the window. The cosmos spread out in front of them; millions upon millions of stars stretched out in the swirl of the galaxy. He swallowed thickly, taking in the sight. “Wow.” It took Tim a moment to find his voice. His finger slipped off the handle of the wheelchair to brush over Danny’s shoulder. Just enough touch to ground himself that Danny was there and real and solid. “Whenever you would talk about wanting to see the stars… all I could think about is finding some way to take you up to the Watchtower, to show you this.” “This isn’t your way of telling me I’m dying again, right?” Danny teased. Tim’s fingers twitched reflexively, clenching into the starchy fabric of the medical gown Danny wore for a moment. He made himself relax. Danny had the good grace to look sheepish as he met Tim’s eyes in the reflection of the window with a wry smile. “Too soon?” “Just a little too soon. Give me a few weeks, then you can get back to the death jokes. I’ll even be in on them now.”

Soldier Boy x OC!
Summary: Ben, (Soldier Boy,) is fresh out of cryo in Russia, fresh out of the destruction of the building downtown, and he wants his deserts from Butcher. When he asks for one more condition, Hughie expects another name on the kill list. But when Ben pulls an old photo from his wallet depicting his best friend, the first female Supe, the boys understand that there’s more to this situation than they bargained for. Will they find who Ben is looking for, old and frail? Or will they find a gravestone with her name on it?
Follows the boys plot (mostly) with some interludes for my own subplot.

CW: Only other thing I can think of is language and slightly asshole-ish themes. (Soldier Boy being mean to Hughie.)
“If you’re looking to play headsman again, bruv, it’s gonna have to wait this time,” Butcher chimed as Hughie gave him an incredulous look. The boy hadn’t much liked Soldier Boy, let alone think it was a good idea to be indulging him so. Now he wanted another person dead? It was too much for poor Hughie too handle.
“S’not like that,” Ben riffled through the box of his old keepsakes and belongings, picking up a wallet. He stood from the table as he unfolded it and picked out an old picture, worn at the edges and yellowed with time.
He handed the picture over to Butcher, who thoughtfully held it before him with a smirk.
“Reminiscent, are we?” the Brit teased as he handed the photo to his young friend. Hughie’s eyes widened before his brow creased.
“I remember her,” the kid mused brightly, “that’s Eris, the first female supe.”
“That’s my best friend, dick-fuck,” Ben snapped at the young man before snatching the photo from his fingers. Ben couldn’t help but stare at the printed image of her face, hoping to see her in person again soon.
“Hate to break it to you mate, but Vought said she died in the same explosion you did. She wasn’t in Russia with ya, and we barely knew where you were. How’re we supposed to know what’s happened to her?” Butcher asked.
Ben’s jaw clenched tightly as anger rose in his chest. He had to remind himself to stay calm, lest his new powers took over and brought down another building. It’s was already enough that Stan had sold him out, but her? Oh, Ben would make Stan and the whole of Vought pay for anything they did to her.
“I don’t give a shit how you do it, just get me the info. Or I’m not helping you with home-fucker,” he demanded.
~*~
With the right people being given the right motivation, meaning threats and a beheading, the team was able to track down info on Ben’s new prize.
The bunker was dark, mildew clinging to the scent of the air like a damp unfinished basement. Ben never cared for the smell, not even as a child when he would escape to the root cellar tunnels and find his way to her house. He didn’t pay much mind to it now, with the electric tingle running up and down his spine distracting him from doing anything but looking around the flashlight illuminated space.
The walls were lined with shelves of boxes, files, even books. Some tables, obviously left hastily abandoned judging by their disheveled state, held open folders and spilled coffee mugs. None of the labels on anything looked remotely interesting or useful to Ben as he made his way deeper into the room. There had to be something here.
“Look at this,” Hughie called from behind Ben’s position in a corridor of shelves. The supe turned to see the young man leafing through an open desk file. Ben’s stomach flipped, stalking back to where the curly headed kid hunched over the table.
“This is it, this is the file,” he told Ben with a smile, “it’s called project Phthalo.”
There was not time to read anything more than the title and her name beneath ‘SUBJECT’ on the page when Butcher called from the back corner of the room.
“I’ll do you one better than files,” He grinned as the two men joined him.
Again, Ben’s stomach twisted in his body, seeing the heavy steel door Butcher had found and now stood in front of. There was a keypad to its right, lit up with a red bulb, just like the ones they’d used in the lab in Russia. He knew as soon as he saw it that whatever was behind the door, would be his answer.
“You sure you wanna open it?” Billy asked, noticing Ben’s face fall as he hesitated to move or blink. This seemed to snap Ben out of his daze and let him nod his approval. With that Butcher wasted no time in shooting out the keypad, allowing the door seal to hiss open.
Stepping aside, Butcher gave Hughie a look, letting the lad know he was expected to hang back a second. He would let Soldier Boy walk into a secret Vought lab headfirst. Hughie in return nodded and stayed next to his friend as they watched the supe shove open the heavy steel door.
All three dropped their lights to the floor as a blue glow emanated from inside the foggy room, cast by a large containment tube. As if bitten by something, Ben stirred into action and ran into the room, dropping his shield as he went. Hughie gave butcher one more confused glance before they were following after Soldier Boy.
Ben couldn’t believe it. He had been thinking the worst, dreading what they would find on this trip, begging and silently pleading with every force of power in the universe that she had somehow survived. He wanted to tell her all the things he was to pussy to tell her for the almost eighty years they’d been friends, he wanted to make sure she knew. She had to know how he felt. It had shattered his heart when Butcher’s little twink told him the story Vought had put out about their deaths. Ben knew they’d probably taken her out because of what she’d do to them in retaliation for the Russia incident. He couldn’t imagine they could control her.
Yet, here he was, dropping to his knees with wide, sad eyes as he stared up at this containment tube. There she was, his best girl; suspended in a thick blue solution of god only knows what as novichok gas flowed from the exhaust pipes around it.
“Holy fucken shit,” Butcher voiced quietly as he stared up at the girl floating in a vat of blue chemicals. He had been expecting to find a body, sure, but not a live one. The man could barely register Hughie nudging his arm next to him, his disbelief and shock overtaking him.
A thought went through Butcher’s head, one that he was sure he would regret having later. He wondered if this would make Soldier Boy easier to control, make him less on edge. Now, as he watched the man crumble to his knees and stare up longing at her, he thought it might.
Ben was shocked out of his foggy mind when he remembered why he was there. “Help me get her outta this,” he demanded, rising to his feet and rounding to the control panels.
“Oh, uh, yeah!” Hugh shook his head and hurried over to try and open the unit.
“You lucked out big time, old man,” Butcher chuckled as he crossed his arms over his chest, earning an eye roll from Ben.
The supe wasted no time in disconnecting every tube not labeled ‘oxygen’, causing the hiss of novichok to cease. ‘Good’ he thought to himself, ‘we can wake her.’ The more he dismantled the machine, the quicker his heart beat. It felt to Ben as if he might explode, reminding himself to breathe and try to relax before he exploded again.
“I got it!” Hughie called enthusiastically, letting Ben’s heart jump in his chest.
It almost happened in slow motion for Ben, reaching forward as the glass door slid to the side as the liquid finally drained from the tube; the way her body slumped forward into his arms, wet and slimy to the touch. His knees hitting the floor as he brought her into his lap, cradling her head in one hand. Everything was surreal until she took in a breath.
Her chest jolted, air entering her in a way she hadn’t felt in decades. Her lungs burned at the feeling, a cough rising in her throat. Her body seized as she coughed up fluid uncontrollably. Ben still trying to calm her with soft touches and quiet words.
“Hey, I’m here, it’s me! Look, it’s me!” Ben’s hand came to cup her head, thumb resting just before her ear. He couldn’t help but smooth the silky white hair that clung to her face away as he stared into her scared and wide blue eyes.
Finally, her frantic gaze landed firmly on his, her breathing finally evening out as she calmed in his arms. Weakly, her left hand reached up to his face, fingers shakily ghosting over the skin just beneath his eyes. She recognised those eyes better than any other pair she’d ever seen. Those were his big green eyes staring down on her with concern. I don’t give permission to reblog or repost my work
“Benny?” She rasped out, throat harsh and dry.
Before she could say another word, she collapsed against Ben’s chest, her obvious fatigue overwhelming her.
“Benny?” Hugh questioned, looking between Soldier Boy and Butcher.

Marvel’s Halloween Costumes
So, it’s almost October, which also means Halloween is coming up. Who or what do you think Billy would go as? I personally think he would go as Starlight, from The Boys. I think he would pull up in full cosplay, skirt and everything. Let’s say something wacky happens in Fawcett during Halloween too and the Ghost of Halloween pops out of nowhere and stars wreaking havoc and all of a sudden a superhero dressed as a fictional superhero raises their hands and electrocutes the ghost. I can also see Billy either knowing nothing about the show or actually having watched the show. Because if he hasn’t watched it would be funny, but if he has it would be hilarious, because I think Billy would fully go along with the ‘pretending to be in The Boys universe’ thing. (if you don’t know what I’m talking about, go to YouTube and go to the Vought International channel, click any of the vids, then go to the comments and you’ll see what I mean)
Like honestly, I can see an interview like this happening after he defeated the Ghost of Halloween:
Reporter: “Hello, fellow citizens of Fawcett, after our hero’s battle with the Ghost of Halloween, I’ve managed to snag an interview with him! So, Captain Marvel, it appears you’re dressed up for the holiday. Who are you?”
Marvel: “Oh, I’m Starlight, from The Boys.” *Gives a little smile and wave.*
Reporter: “May I ask why you picked her?” *Holds up microphone for Marvel.*
Marvel: “I picked her cause she’s my favorite character from the show, and she has lightning powers like me.” *holds a hand up and let a couple sparks dance around his fingers before putting his hand down* “i actually almost went as Stormfront, not show Stormfront though, comic Stormfront. And if you’ve read the comics or at least seen what he looks like, you’d notice that me and him look pretty alike.” (I’ll show a pic of him at the end) “He actually has a lot a my powers, of course on a smaller scale. But you see, sure, he has most of my powers, his suit also looks a lot like mine but of course, he’s a nazi. He’s literally weaker me if I wore more purple and had Captain Nazi’s personality. So… it was obviously an automatic no.”
(Bro doesn’t know this could get him canceled maybe)
And so yeah. I could see this happening. Also, he found out that he and Stargirl were twinning when he went up to the Watchtower to steal an entire box of Halloween themed cupcakes brought in by Canary. (he’s broke and doesn’t want to get an actual Halloween bucket because he knows the rats in his little hideaway will eat it all. The box holding the cupcakes might slow them down enough so that he can wake up before the rodents get to them)(Starlight is a parody of Stargirl apparently too)
Also, also, I think Freddy would dress up as Brightburn, and I think that every time someone would ask about it, Billy would say something along the lines of, “kids will be kids,” or “he’s being edgy,” or “he’s going through that phase.” As for Mary, I actually have no idea who’d she dress up as but for some reason my mind keeps going to Glitter Lucky or Glitter Peace from Glitter Force so let’s go with one of those. (I think it’d be more likely Glitter Peace cause she has lightning powers)

To define Hecate is difficult. Some say she is a sinister force, while others describe her as kind and helpful. In any case, Hecate is a powerful, knowledgable and intimidating goddess. Her variants and daughters are the same; mystical, magical and complex beings who have both light and darkness within them. These women dabble in witchcraft, and/or the spiritual/supernatural.

I want to write an essay on "benevolent misogyny" in media and fandom.
I was going to mainly reference Harley Quinn and Alicent Hightower (and Cheryl Blossom a bit), but I realized it goes past UWUifying female villains and antagonists. This is done to any kind of female character.
A perfect example is Dinah from Starlight Express. I'll save it for the essay, but I have an entire tag of rants on my StEx blog explaining my frustration with this to give you an idea.
If you have any other examples (villain or not), please suggest them, and I may mention them in the essay.

Specter of Starlight - Part 2
Part 1 Mind the CW at the top. (which together will = chapter 1 ones it goes up up on ao3)
WC: 1068
-
He looked around the roof assessing the scene again, then at the other person.
They were leaning casually on the gargoyle now, unconcerned about the height. The new pose did cause them to throw one leg over on the roof side of the ledge, though, and Tim felt the bundle of nerves inside him unwind just slightly.
“Odd place to be then.”
“Maybe. I find height comforting. I’m Danny,” they said.
Tim was a little startled at being given a name so easily.
Danny gave him a lopsided smile. “Not that it’s not obvious who you are, but usually one guy tells another guy their name, they get a name back. There are social motions to go through here. There are expectations.”
Tim tilted his head at that, fighting back a smile. “Are social motions still in place when we’re sitting on a roof at—” His eyes darted to the hud feed inside his lenses. “—three twenty-two in the morning?”
“Hum,” Danny seemed to be actually thinking about that as he picked absently at the fang of the grinning gargoyle. “I suppose we’re exempt from most. In my defense, I think I lost track of time.”
“While star gazing.”
“Cloud gazing. I think we covered that already.”
“Red Robin, then, if we’re pretending to be normal,” Tim acquiesced.
“’Normal’ says the guy in the bird suit. Wait, I’m sorry, that makes you sound like a furry. Not that furries aren’t delightful people, but don’t really think you are one.”
It took some effort not to laugh, but he finally gave into the smile. “No, just a vigilante.”
“Got to say, that’s probably a pretty big step down from furry, sure you want to admit that?”
He was being teased. He was being teased by a random guy on the edge of a roof at three in the morning. This wasn’t at all what Tim expected but he would take it.
“You’re lucky Batman isn’t around to hear you slander the good vigilante name like that.” Mostly because Bruce was dealing with Justice League business. Really, right then, Tim was the only Bat who would be in this particular area to notice Danny (other than Oracle’s all seeing eye, but this high up didn’t have a lot of cameras).
“Okay, but seriously,” Danny said, spreading his hands, “Batman is way more furry adjacent than you. He’s got the wings—”
“It’s a cape.”
“—and the ears.” Danny brought his hands up, holding a single finger up on either side of his head. He gave them a little wiggle.
Tim wasn’t able to help the snort of laughter that time. “I’ll let you bring that reasoning up to him yourself.”
“No thanks, I don’t really want to have a run in with the Batman.”
“But I’m fine to have a run in with?” Tim wasn’t really offended, he knew he wasn’t nearly as terrifying as Batman. Or Red Hood. Or the latest Robin. Not to mention the girls… Okay, so he wasn’t the scariest Bat by far, alright?
“I’m not minding your company so far. Besides, you’re way cuter than Batman.”
He could feel the heat of the sudden blush on his cheeks. Hopefully the the dark night would hide it.
From Danny’s smirk he guess it didn’t.
Tim cleared his throat and grappled for a topic. “So were you hoping to see any particular stars?”
“I mean,” Danny let his head tilt back over the gargoyle, exposing the long line of his neck as he looked back up at the sky. “That always depends on the time of the year.”
If Tim was a less composed person he would have rolled his eyes. “Yes, well, what on this specific March night would you have been looking for?”
Danny’s gaze jerked back down to blink at Tim, but he couldn’t gather what for. Did Danny really think Tim didn’t know something as basic as the constellations changing with seasons?
No, Danny seemed to take a notice breath (why was it so noticeable suddenly) and relaxed again.
“Well, for March, we’d be seeing Orion,” Danny said, returning his gaze to the sky as if they could see anything. “He’s pretty easy to spot even in cities, because of how bright his starts are and his belt. His belt isn’t the brightest stars in Orion, but since they line up people have been spotting them for ages.
“In ancient Arabic they were Al Nijād, also the belt, but in modern they refer to them as scales, which is what the Chinese maybe called them too. They’re also sometimes called the three sisters or the three kings. There’s three stars on it, all pretty bright. Well, we call them three stars, but two of them are actually star systems— shit, sorry, I’m just ranting at you now.”
“No,” Tim said quickly. He hated the way Danny was curling into himself now. “It’s interesting. What do you mean they’re not three stars?”
Tim felt like he was being judged as Danny’s eyes swept over him. Judged and expected to be found wanting. How many times had people dismissed Danny when he was talking about this?
Tim must have passed because Danny started talking again. Slowly, at first, as if he was waiting for Tim to change his mind. “Well… see, the left most star, Alnitak, is a triple, maybe quadruple star system. We’ve known it was a double start since early eighteen something something— I’m not so great with remembering the dates— but then we found another star with the primary later which is super cool. And the right most star Mintaka is also multiple stars and one of them has a unusual metal abundance which is also really cool.
“Now the middle star, Alnilam, is a massive blue super giant. And I mean like, forty times the size of our sun massive. It’s the, twenty-seventh or twenty-ninth or somewhere there brightest start in the sky but even then, it’s only the forth brightest start in the Orion constellation. Like I said, super noticeable. Most people think Betelgeuse is the brightest because that’s one of the larges stars visible to the naked eye. If you thought Alnilam was big at forty times our sun’s size, Betelgeuse is over twelve hundred times bigger…”
A soft smile gracing his lips, Tim shifted to be more comfortable and hear all about Betelgeuse and Rigel and the other bits of starlight that made up Orion.

AN: Well, this decided it really wanted to be written, like now (now being 4am). But to be fair, I did rewrite two scenes of the next chapter of lbfd first. (And seriously, no shade on furries, they really are a wonderful community and the best cons to vend at.) Hopefully not too many mistakes, fresh migraine hell over here.
I hope Danny nerding out about the stars there at the end wasn't too dry? I don't know if I need to trim it down? Fun (?) facts, Orion is my fav constellation and my brother actually helped study the metallic content of starts because he's crazy smart. Anways, I love Danny being able to completely change the mood on Tim just by being his delightful, dumpster fire self. You all stay delightful too, darlings!
