for some reason whenever I see snippets of people's works my brain always seems to have some little goblin/wip-dragon thing going on.

I look at the words in awe, and then revel in the fact they come from secrets only I and a few more people are privy too. like I've wandered into some secret library or something.

no, brain, these are publicly available snippets. I haven't found a new Library of Alexandria. (although to be fair, with some of the writers I follow - I say my reaction to wonderful creation is entirely valid)

One of my favorite past times I like to do is assigning people and characters quotes that sound like they could've said them but are from absolutely different media types, bonus points if the quote is made funnier by assigned person.

The wildest one I made, that a friend believed was an actual line in-game, was a barbie movie quote I assigned to Gaius

Not important in the slightest but everyone needs to know that in Sonic X episode 1, Lupin the 3rd appears as a background character. As you can see this guy has Lupin's facial shape, eyes and hair but he's wearing a piss shirt instead of a dark colored one.

So Lupin the 3rd sort of canonically exists within Sonic the Hedgehog. This is because TMS produced both anime.

Having Ideas™ about a building-grid system in a building game

For the past long while I've been bouncing around some ideas in my head for a Space Engineers-style sci-fi building game - in particular, how the whole "building" system actually works. There's like three/four primary elements I'd love to see combined:

Rust-style building grid composed of both cubes and equilateral-triangle prisms, to offer lots of flexibility

Stationeers-style large/small-grid combo, where the small grid is aligned to the edges of the large grid, and large grid is used for structural stuff (walls, floors, etc) while small-grid is used for pipes, wires, furniture, etc

Building off that, using the small grid for making smaller vehicles & such, like in SE

Some sort of node-and-ellipse-based system (think roads in Cities: Skylines) for making long, linear objects (cables, long paths, possibly train tracks & such) that can have freeform curves and connect grids that aren't aligned

However, points 1 and 2 run into some significant trouble when combined - there'd have to be so many contextual variants of things like pipe/wire junctions to accommodate for the small-grid pattern differences between not just the two types of building block, but the places where they meet (not to mention figuring out how that grid would work with the triangular pieces anyway).

One time I was ringing up this sweet older gentleman at the sex shop. I no longer remember what he was buying, just that he was in his fifties and radiated a bumbling gentleness that I had enjoyed.

He was chatting with me as he pulled out cash to pay, “You know, I always thought it would be so much easier to meet ladies. But then you meet a girl and you start chatting and they’re never as impressed that I know Captain Kirk’s middle name as I expected them to be.”

I took his payment with a grin and said, “I dunno, Tiberius is an amazing middle name, it was their loss.”

He looked at me with utter awe, radiating a disbelieving joy that I’d parried his quip so effortlessly with Trekkie lore. “If I were thirty years younger…” he’d said, absolutely delighted.

I didn’t have the heart to tell him I was gay to boot, so I just beamed and wished him a good day. He went out the door with a spring in his step and I still smile to think about it.

Can you talk to men in a non-sexually charged way for a single second

Sure sure romantic pairings are fine and all. But more people should perhaps consider two characters loving each other to the point of incomprehensibility. To the point that there is no simpler way in english to define or describe it than just to say those characters’ names together, joined eternally by the vague conjunction ‘and’. There’s so many types of love and dependencies and emotions in general thrown in there that you can’t tell what colors they are anymore, they’ve just joined into a giant blobby mess that’s almost black, but when you look closer glistens with more colors than there are names for. Just a thought
