I simply cannot elaborate at this time but years down the line when Aaron finally makes peace with himself he starts wearing pastels. Like obviously black and darker colors are still a part of his base wardrobe but also his favorite sweater is light pink. His favorite socks are sky blue. The scarf he’s got for when he’s somewhere where it snows (bc he obviously goes to see the other OG foxes play pro exy when he gets the chance shut up) is sage green.

He lets his hair grow out and it flops in his face when he doesn’t have it styled for work.

Just when Aaron finally finds peace he learns to be soft, not entirely and not in the “traditional” way. But he does learn to be softer.

Angst Lu fic idea here-

Wind dies on his first journey and only Tera survived. Ayrll has already been saved but it was the finale battle which Wind didn’t make it out of. This of course leads to many things, but every night Aryll dreams of her brother and her on the beach talking.

Aryll of course can’t see ghost, but Wind, being granted a gift of maybe becoming apart of the wind because of his hero title, is in the wind around the island. Always with Aryll as a reminder.

However one day a ship comes with eight hero’s looking for another which isn’t there. Of which the story can go two ways, one where Aryll tells them the truth and they get awkward or Aryll tells them that she’s the hero(she’s 12 just like her brother was!) and the wind comes with her (Wind teaches her everything at night so Aryll isn’t in danger too much) but refers to the wind as her brother along the trip. This causes many conversations and confusions+ some good old angst.

I think something that sometimes goes undiscussed when talking about being trans or nonbinary (at least in my circles) is the element of realizing what your gender means to you, and accepting that it doesn't mean the same thing for everyone. For me being a man means being a protector, a counselor, someone who listens and thinks before acting, and someone who in the end does act to help others the best he can. Do I think all those things can be applied to other genders as well? Absolutely, I hope it helps others connect to their genders as well alongside whatever other elements they feel. Do I believe there are other men who do not connect to these things? 100%, and that's beautiful. Gender is not strict or forceful, it is how we present who we are to the world around us, even when some try to brandish it as a weapon. It is not real, but through our choices to create it becomes tangible. So often rigid gender expectations separate us, but the more I decide to be myself the more people I connect to for being the same, and yet totally different.

I am a man because that's how I present who I am to the world. It is the tools that let's me be authentic to myself and tell others my intentions and place in the space around me. And I will use it to help others to the best of my ability every moment I live. Sending all my love to everyone whoever you are, or are becoming. Your gender is yours, don't let anyone take it or warp it or use it against you. You decide.

definitely not thinking about making an au where the Watchers are a group called the Universe and the Listeners are a group called the Stars, and the Universe wants what’s best for the Servers, but their methods are questionable, yet they aren’t big bad evil guys. And the Stars want power because they believe they’ve been overlooked for too long, and their goal is to exterminate the Universe and care for the Players, and whilst their main goal isn’t the best at least their methods are better than the way the Universe does things. And some of the Universe find out the Stars want them gone and so they protest that they fight back, but the higher tier Watchers refuse. So then they’re overthrown by their own citizens and the Watchers are now corrupt by a handful of their own who wish to be rid of the Stars. And now the Servers aren’t being looked after properly so some fall into disarray, and some Watchers begin to hide themselves in Servers and take care of them outside their main realm, away from the corrupt governors that their homeworld now has. Now the new monarchy of the Watchers want a war with the Stars and so they make the Life Series, where they can toy with Players, and they know the Stars hate that. And so the Life Series are a constant war, where two sides are stuck, with a singular Watcher and and a fully fledged Listener among the battlefield.

On this episode of "Things in Rebirth than make me insane" Mt. Nibel is genuinely gorgeous. Like full stop one of the best examples of how alien Gaia is and how the Lifestream shapes the environment. I took some photos to yap about :)

So first of all we can see how thick the mako within the mountain is. Nearly every cave has a haze of green and embers of the Lifestream hanging in the air. Materia grows freely in the pools of mako within the caves (we can see crystals jutted from the rock walls and between the roots of trees), and the Lifestream here is so potent that trees and plants can grow underground with barely any sunlight. Sinkholes and cavern entrances are also carved by the mako, yet the trees continue to live and thrive despite growing in awkward positions.

We can even spot how Mt. Nibel was formed in the first place!

Here, and in the background of the first image, we can see exactly why the Nibel Mountains have the strange shapes they do. Mako crystals here have started to turn into the dull grey stone of the mountain with age, and erosion would change the shape of the rock over time. Mt Nibel was forged by the lifestream itself; grown from the very pools within its cave systems or the landscape was changed by an upswell of the Lifestream (similar to how Cosmo Canyon was described being created in the World Intel). There are plants in Nibel that are either partial crystallized or seem to be bioluminecent because of how rich the Lifestream is here.

I really do wonder what Nibel would look like if it wasn't suffering from the environmental degradation of its reactor and all the mako research. Or what other areas of the region we don't see may look like.

There's another cool detail you can hear in the sound design when the music quiets before the mako spring cutscene.

The mako in this cave is so thick that you can hear what almost sounds like a "song" or what is probably meant to be voices we can't decipher. I really don't think it's wind ambience because the other caves don't seem to have sound design like this. Mt Nibel is probably is so associated with death and the afterlife because within these caves you can hear the voices of the Lifestream even without being a Cetra. No wonder people of this region associate the mountain as being a way into the underworld. In many ways, it truly is.

So this is probably unimportant to anyone who reads this but i feel like i need to explain my though process here, I’m a psych major specializing in abnormal psych with interest in creative writing and art. Very much an art, science and history girlie. Im saying this so there’s some context to the way I visualize certain things.

I want to elaborate on my view of the foxes in a less scientific and more artistic view, metaphors and imagery.

I see Aaron very much as someone who internalizes his hurts. My brain conjures up the example that as he was growing up he was the type that every time a piece of him cracked off he picked it up, at first perhaps to use as a weapon. Taking the jagged edge and using it to lash out but that only got him bad things growing up with Tilda. (Who I imagine as the embodiment of catholic guilt, she knows what she’s doing is wrong but she’s so consumed by her hatred and bad choices the only way she can internalize it is through violence. Specifically directed at Aaron.) So as he got a little older he took those edges and hurt himself with them.

Aaron would have known from living with Tilda that physical marks raise questions that cause trouble, so it wouldn’t have been the same form of self harm that Andrew and some of the others used. But he i image he would have taken those edges and used them to hurt himself mentally, self hatred and self harm that doesn’t leave lasting marks.

Then Andrew and Nicky and Luther start getting in the picture. Tilda was always to strung out to notice and the men she brought around didn’t care. So Aaron learn to carefully shave the edges of his jagged pieces down, purposefully cutting up the parts of himself that remain and taking tape to stick it all back together. Trying to form some semblance of a human being that wont make people ask questions. The pieces don’t fit right though, some pieces are still jagged, some pieces are too smooth, some he cut down too much to be able to put them back right.

By the time AFTG is taking place Aaron has probably caused himself so much damage by trying to self internalize he issues that he more so resembles a stained glass piece before its soldered together. Just pieces that loosely sort of fit together that might be something one day but could also just as easily smash into a million pieces. 

Aaron lives his life being one step from the edge. A minor inconvenience could send him spiraling, a change in his routine throwing his entire day off. But he barely registers major incidents. Because for Aaron ignoring the big things is how he survives and yet the things that keeps him alive is focusing on the small details. The little things here or there that convince both him and everyone else that he’s perfectly normal. Sort of like how you can take a piece of glass and drop it from a pretty significant height and it’ll be fine so long as it lands in a way that distributes the impact. Where as if you drop a piece of glass from a small height but it lands on the wrong corner it shaders.

Aaron knows that if he can’t be normal, if he can’t convince himself or others that he is, he’ll fall apart. And if his pieces fall apart there will be no glueing them back together. There will be no getting back up. That’s part of the reason why the foxes put him on edge so much. He’s a unsoldered stained glass piece and the foxes are a swinging hammer. If they collide the foxes will survive but Aaron wont.

If Time falls, so does the chain

(Little Time analysis because why not)

If Time ever falls(not just getting injured in a fight, but dying, getting mind controlled or infected) the chain is going to follow in his footsteps. They are going to lose the strength of a leader and teamwork, the "dad" of the chain. But theres more to it then that.

If Time falls, then the chain does too. It’s not just that Time is the leader, what the boys look up to being. Not that he is a legendary hero, but that he holds the chain together. That if he falls in battle, the chain isn’t far behind to fall apart either. They can all lead, all pull together if they have to, but they’ve never been a part of a team like this(expect Four). Brothers who fight with them and never leave. They’ve never had someone bleed next to them and not leave or let them face their own battles. They are there to patch the wounds and help the nightmares at night. They are stronger than alliances or friends, they are brothers, and time keeps that together. Bring them together. But there's more to it.

Time is what holds the chain together. 

Time is the oldest, the wisest, and most of all, he's the one who made a life for himself. Time is a symbol to them. He shows how even after everything they went through, all the horrors and traumas and loss-that you can still live a life after. He has a home to go back to. Time shows them that they can still have happiness and safety as a hero, not just those they protect.

So if Time falls, so does that life. So do the dreams of being able to have something for yourself.
