vet's going to have a consult with the lab oncologist tomorrow to get her staging and prognosis and a suggested treatment plan, but i'm not convinced she's well enough to go through with any of that, and with the way the vet is such a site of stress for her, i don't know if it'd even be humane to go ahead with that.

i'll get more info tomorrow, but i'm pretty resigned to the idea that a dose of steroids (prednisolone) just to give her a bit of relief and then planning for a goodbye is the kindest thing at this stage

Fell down an old reviews rabbit hole on my lunch hour and once again am pondering the tendency reviewers have to discuss the Gounod Faust as though Marguerite is being punished by the narrative instead of just the world around her. Like, okay, it's not as clear about that as the source material (and Gounod was a conflicted but observant Catholic, whereas Goethe was not a believer), but. I feel like you see this the most from reviewers who really like the baritone singing Valentin, who is the main voice of traditional morality in both the opera and its source material--but while the operatic version of him isn't as nasty as Goethe's, you know a character is in the wrong when an opera chorus tells him to maybe ease up on the slut-shaming. Slut-shaming is like half of what opera choruses do!

half way through the second part of o segredo na floresta. (spoilers) the electric flesh monster thing in the sanitarium just died, and now joui and ceasar are both traumatized, yippee. the fact ceasar developed a phobia of the cold is just the absolute worst since things always seem to get colder where the membrane is thinner so uh. im sure that’ll cause nothing but trouble down the line.
