Aranuir's a very honest drunk, and an affectionate one. He likes to cling onto people quite a lot, and insists on telling them things that he thinks they should know. As a consequence he drinks, especially around people he doesn't know - or at least he doesn't drink for a Dúnedain. So imagine Boromir's surprise when Aranuir suddenly comes up to him, and immediately buries his head in Boromir's chest. The whispered words would be romantic if they weren't a mess of Quenya (he was trying to be romantic), Sindarin (raised speaking it through most of his childhood), and Westron (for obvious reasons). With constantly changing grammatical structures, of course. Boromir's more flustered about the proximity than anything else. The night generally ends with both of them cuddled, either asleep in their room or on a larger chair.

Interestingly, I was actually just about to ask your opinions on weapon choice for Aranuir. At the moment I'm thinking of setting him up with the Tolkien-ified equivalent of a montante (youtube link). Only problem, it'd be fucking massive. Around 6'6" of just sword. But anyway-

Aranuir has quite a body-guard-esque approach to fighting, and favours weapons that specialise in crowd-control over individual sparring. As such he picks one or two people - and no-one is getting near them. Boromir found this endearing for all of six seconds, and now spends his time trying to actually fight his own opponents. Does Boromir come slightly too close to Aranuir on occasion? Yes. Is it because a montante's short-range isn't great and he's protective? Also yes. Their styles compliment each other quite well, in the end.

You'll receive my official report before this reaches you, I suspect. But I know you'll miss me. I've never left not at home with rangers before, I still don't - but I'm going to blame you for it. We should've practised being apart from each other for longer.

The rangers share good stories about you and your brother. And they're also laughing at me for writing a love letter to you. Except, if this was truly a love letter, I promise you I'd write it with much neater calligraphy. Stanza's would be devoted to the fact the fire here is not as warm as your eyes are, that the night sky seems to shine less when I can't show it to you. Have I incited blush

Try not to miss me too much, and simply tell Aragorn I'm doing well even if he hasn't got a letter.

🏆 aww, Aragorn's reaction is adorable. And I agree, very few things better than seeing someone else genuinely enjoy their win - and then I'm Sairiniel, because the only thing better is me winning. The retaliation from both is just great.

🚓 chapter! chapter! chapter! But no, I love this for the both of them. As you so rightfully said, everyone in Tolkien is a chaos gremlin.

🧸also adorable, with just the right mild pinch of angst in there. I love both of them have the same reasons, and they'll support each other.

Aragorn: Oh, my sweet man. He's absolutely competitive, and he hates to lose. Oh, does he hate to lose, but he loves to see Sairiniel get lost in the game, watch her mind work, watch her grin in victory. He will, however, playfully taunt her and be playfully retaliatory.

Sairiniel: She's definitely the more competitive of the two. She will treat most games as quite high stakes ordeals, but that's in part because of how high stakes her life has been to date, and in part because of competitive she is. That being said, she does recognize it is nothing more than a game. She will take losing just fine, but she may also retaliate with something silly like tickling Aragorn or throwing a pillow, or something of the like, at him.

🚓 | which one is most likely to get arrested: Both? Honestly, both. They're chaotic individually, and more chaotic together. I could absolutely see them trying to sneak out of the city because they can't handle being closed in and tailed by guards all the time sometime in the fourth age, and someone calling for a guard because they see some people they think are acting suspiciously, and they're worried it's a thief...only to find out they've just called a guard on the King and Queen (aaaaaaand now that might have to be a chapter)

🧸 | which one is the little spoon & which is the big spoon: I think that depends on the night and who needs the security of being held. I think there may be nights that Aragorn might need to lay on Sairiniel's chest to hear her heartbeat and have the solidity of her beneath his head to ground himself to the fact that she's here and whole, and vice versa. I think some nights that Sairiniel might need the comfort of being held to block out the past, and I think that some nights she may need to cling to Aragorn to feel him in her arms and know that he won't slip away.

I completely forgot that I'm still trying to get one about Steward, and the use of a diminutive for Steward.

-incë is the diminutive suffix, and Arandur is Quenya for Steward (of Gondor) - but I'm not show how I feel about Arandurincë as an affectionate nickname. It feels too long.

We also have Aranincë/Araincë, which I think is a contender. (king-diminutive). Araninco also comes with this, which I'm fond off.
