For the ask game - would your oc ever take advantage of someone's romantic feelings in order to manipulate them?
This felt like quite an interesting question, and if I may expand on it slightly, how high would the stakes have to be for your oc to do this?
Hmm, are we talking about Aranuir or Samiel? Because they have very different answers. So I’ll give both (and sorry for the wait <3)
Samiel :
Definitely. I don’t say this in an entirely cruel or callous way - because she isn’t - but she also doesn’t see anything wrong with doing it a little. When she was a performer in the circus she’d definitely flirt a bit to get a spare copper, or silver, thrown her way. Although that was much more obviously a part of the act; so she doesn’t feel like it’s really leaning on romantic feelings because they’re built on falsehoods. Similarly, a free drink in exchange for a few words is something she’d be down for (she doesn’t have +7 (I think??) in persuasion for nothing). Stakes are very, very low for her to do this - because she doesn’t see it as a big thing to do.
Once you take the show and acceptable settings out of it? Her stakes are lower than most people, but for her it becomes a ‘do the ends justify the means?’ situation. If it’s for what she deems a genuinely good reason - like flirting to be let into a town in Barovia - then she has no qualms. Because someone's heart being briefly hurt is not as important as her life.
Samiel would never truly lead someone on for an extended period of time. A week, at most, if she wanted to be wanted. But Samiel is also a hopeless romantic themself - so she understands how hard it can feel. And doesn’t want other people to suffer with a pain she can feel.
Aranuir :
In modern days? He’d certainly flirt, enjoy a few things that could be a relationship. But he’d never lead on for too long, it would be a laugh and a wink and nothing more.
In both times he’d marry for politics - which I suppose could be seen as manipulating romantic feelings - but Aranuir would be open about it to the person he was marrying. The stakes for this? Getting a crown for his brother, or getting a significant step up.
I feel Aranuir in lotr is honestly more open to a hint of romance than modern day, but Middle Earth doesn't really allow that. Romance is to be confined to courting, and courting is really to marry. And Aranuir doesn’t want to trap himself in that - because he wants to marry for love.

Hey there! Numbers 2, 5 and 12 for your fanfic ask game 🥰
First of all hi! Thank you so much for asking 🥰
Second of all, your answers <3
2. Which of your fics is your pride and joy?
Honestly, I feel it’s constantly changing in a way. Sometimes I’ll look at most of my work and dislike it, but most of the time I’m pretty proud of all my work. The one that shall (hopefully) become my magnum opus is King’s Silver, which currently appears as snippets, as segments, and scenes that play constantly in my mind. But the one I’m most proud of that you can actually read is (Don't) Notice me, a hurt/comfort Faramir fic. I think I did well on it, and I’ve touched on themes with a writing style I couldn’t have achieved three years ago. I’m also rather fond of both Warmth and Dance with me (found on the other account).
5. What’s something you learned while researching a fic?
A lot about burns, how they’re formed, and their aftercare. A medical journal on the stuff, and a trawl through various first-hand accounts. It was incredibly insightful, and I genuinely enjoyed my time researching it. On a lighter note, I now know how to calculate how long your montante (a type of german greatsword) would be depending on your height. And just generally a lot about montantes (for which you can thank King’s Silver).
12. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Oh, those are some repressed memories. The first fandom I’ve written for - and is currently attached to my name somewhere - is BBC Sherlock. On a fic that is long abandoned, and very unfinished (and still gets hits occasionally, for some reason). The first fandom I ever wrote for was Warriors by Erin Hunter. I do not miss my writing style then, but it was my first jump into the world of fandom - and for that I’ll be thankful for it. Even if I’ve (very much hopefully) evolved from it.
The first fandom on my account - and that I'd say I've truly fallen in love with, and engaged in the most - is Lord of the Rings. And I think it's a fandom that'll stick for life, or at least I hope it will.
(here is the original game, and thanks again for your questions <3)

This is a significant week, calendar-wise, in the life (or, rather, the death) of Théodred, and so let me take this opportunity to point out the evidence for why he was clearly the best, wisest, and most effective ruler in Rohan at the time.
Most significantly, unlike his father, Théodred was never successfully manipulated by Wormtongue/Saruman. UT tells us that they explicitly TRIED, but he NEVER fell for Grima’s bad counsel and he NEVER took the bait to be turned against either his father or his cousin. The fact that Saruman essentially had Théodred murdered then (it was via battle, yes, but a battle that was fought only to achieve his death) shows that Saruman knew Théodred was incorruptible and that it was only a matter of time before Théodred unraveled the whole plot and wrested control of things away from Gríma. He was already acting “without orders” to oppose Saruman, after all. So Saruman’s only chance to succeed REQUIRED that he get Théodred off the board before that could happen, and he committed a truly absurd number of resources to get it done. Again, he sent THOUSANDS of troops just to ensure the death of one man — that means he viewed that one man as an EXISTENTIAL threat, which is just not how he felt about Théoden or Éomer or anyone else in Rohan.
No less important, though less discussed, is the fact that Théodred passes with flying colors on Tolkien’s #1 test for whether someone is a good and wise person: he trusts and supports Gandalf. In the drafts, when Gandalf first shows up in Edoras warning about Saruman, it’s Théodred who is favorable to Gandalf while Théoden (and Gríma, of course) is not. We see this over and over again in the story — the best and smartest people (Aragorn, Faramir, Frodo and Bilbo) trust in Gandalf while those who are corrupted (Denethor, Gríma) or just a little ignorant (many of the hobbits, people of Bree, etc.) view him as suspicious or even harmful. Théoden ends up on the right side of that eventually, but Théodred was there from the start (also a noted and consistent Gandalf supporter: Háma! ❤️)
Finally, just a minor note that is less about his role in the story and more about his personality and his view of the world… after Théoden has told Gandalf that he can take a horse from Rohan’s stables as long as he gets the hell out (at which point Gandalf selects Shadowfax), Théoden, urged on by Gríma, considers changing his mind and reneging on that offer. It is Théodred who tells him that he has to honor his word and that he should do so EVEN IF GANDALF WERE ONLY A BEGGAR. It doesn’t matter to Théodred in that instance whether Gandalf is powerful and important. It matters to him that a king keeps his word and treats even the poorest man in the kingdom equally to the strongest or most influential. Be still my heart…
Anyway. Prepare for lots of Théodred thoughts over the next few days!
