I want to see Katie in a Star Trek. Seeing her as a Vulcan (preferably in a tight Starfleet uniform....) with the pointy ears and doing the eyebrow (she'd do the eyebrow SO WELL!!!!) would be more erotic to me than seeing her in another nude scene, honestly.

Hi, you’re gifter again, I got sick so I’m running behind, but I’ve got 5.5k so far and I’m almost at the smut but I realized I have reference Spock being like pre-bonded to T’Pring a few times but u made it clear he doesn’t want her, doesn’t even feel drawn to her with his pon farr and fully only loves Jim. is this ok?
Hi Anon, honestly I feel you I'm running behind myself after a recent medical incident so don't worry about it. I don't think I specified that I wanted no mention of Tpring or spock's feelings for her but as long as it ends with Kirk and Spock together honestly I'll be happy ☺

Good Soup, ever think of writing for Tom Paris, I was going to send this into your other blog but it didn't allow me to for some reason, tumblr is being odd for me, also when are you going to post more fics on that blog the @im-a-doctor-not-a-dragonslayer blog.
Good Soup Indeed anon, I haven't thought about writing for Tom but if people were down to see him than it is a possibility, no worrys it's fine sending it into this blog if my asks on my other blog ain't working which is odd they should be, maybe it is just your tumblr who knows.
I'm thinking of becoming more active of the Star Trek Blog in the New Year as the stuff I have planned for this blog is quite a lot, i have to finish Fotfictober, then I have Request November, maybe i have time in December who knows I have family coming over and are fairly busy at that time of year, but I do have a Data series I am working on, my new years resolution would be be having a stable balance of Tolkien Content and Star Trek Content coming out on both accounts.

Captain Christopher Pike's outfits in STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS → Season 1 - 2 (requested by anonymous)
(Young Lieutenant Pike in the field jacket and red operations uniform is from a 1x06 "Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach" deleted scene on the Season 1 dvd. It's a little flashback scene with Pike in a shuttle. It ends with him beaming back to USS Aryabhatta, the ship he served on at the time with Number One/Una.)
Star Trek: Discovery outfits here.

Happy Valentines Day Shana!! 💕💕 Sybok and Jim contiuation? I wanna see more of Sybok teasing the shit out of Spock for his oblivious crush
a continuation of 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
It's rude to speak in a language not everyone present speaks, however Sybok became immune to social niceties around the time his father stopped bringing him to official functions. He switches to High Vulcan to say, "We can tell her I picked you up off an Orion slave ship."
Uhura's right eye twitches.
"She can understand you," Jimmy says. "She's a xenolinguist."
Bones's eyes narrow. He's so much more indignant in person than in the background of Jimmy's video calls. "What are you going on about now? I hate when you do this. I always feel like you're planning how to dispose of my body."
Jimmy had told him that Bones had started studying Vulcan. He'd also told him that he was incredibly bad at it, but not everyone can be Jimmy, which was realistically probably for the best.
He drops down to standard Vulcan to say, "Ah, so you have a talented tongue," since there's really no way to say that in High Vulcan that's a double entendre. It doesn't help that most of their potentially risque phrases are hand rather than mouth oriented, but he's learned to make do.
Spock turns an unhealthy shade of pale as his eyes widen the tiniest amount in abject horror.
Uhura raises her eyebrow in a way that reminds him of his brother. "To master a language is the study of a lifetime. I would be most appreciative if you were to give me a hand in achieving this endeavor."
Spock's skin flushes and he looks around like he's seriously considering running away from this conversation.
Sybok is delighted.
"Uhurua!" Jimmy shouts, hands on his hips. "Come on! I say that to you and you don't even let me buy you a drink, but you'll just proposition Sybok in the middle of the hallway?"
"She did what?" Bones hisses.
That is one possible interpretation of her words.
"I might have gotten around to propositioning you too," she says, "if you hadn't gotten your ass beat."
"Okay, I think I did okay, actually," Jimmy argues while Bones's face morphs into an expression eerily similar to Spock's.
He loves Earth.

Picture this; Bones holding Joanna, rocking her to sleep and the part in Beautiful Boy where it’s like “The monster's gone, He's on the run, And your daddy's here” is playing. :,)
Fatherhood gives you certain... skills. Coincidentally, this is also how Jim finds out that Bones sings.

For the fic prompt thing: how about Spock coming out as gay/bi/ace to a pining Jim (who thinks that Spock is straight)?
Merry writing!!!🖖
hello my darling anon! thank you for the request :) this one is very short and sweet. i like to think spock assumes everyone already knows, so he doesn't expect it to matter. i hope you enjoy!
quick side note to the anon who requested genius!jim... i started writing it, hated it, started again, then watched a documentary that made me change the entire plot but it's turning into one of my favorite little creations ever. thank you (and all the others too) for your patience <3
without further ado, let's get spock out of the closet!
(or read here on ao3 if you prefer)
~*~*~*~*~
"Please, Jim. Spock n’ I here are the only ones who know a thing about exes."
Jim, McCoy, and Spock sat around the Captain’s desk in his quarters, enjoying a particularly potent blend of top-shelf beverages. At least, the two humans partook. Spock held onto a mug of tea himself, sipping steadily while Jim continued to tip a vibrant green liquid past his lips. He raised an angled brow at the doctor’s statement.
"Doctor?"
"Well,” he leaned forward, elbows resting on the surface before him, inadvertently nudging a nearby plant dangerously close to the edge. “That T'pring didn't exactly treat you to the warmest welcome, did she?"
"I have exes, Bones,” Jim chimed in, delayed by his moderate intoxication. He reached out to push the plant back to a more sturdy position before Spock could do so, rubbing one of its leaves between his fingers briefly.
“Yeah, but the ones you do got ‘re angels.” McCoy jabbed a finger into the space between them. “Not to mention, they’d all take you back ‘n a heartbeat if you asked. You know I’m right.”
Jim hummed, bobbing his head in consideration and tracing a circle around the edge of his glass.
“Not Gary."
McCoy rolled his eyes. "Gary’s dead."
"He's still my ex, no?” He picked up his glass again but did not drink from it.
"And T'Pring is Spock's." The doctor turned his attention back to the science officer, a smile on his face Spock couldn’t discern a reason for. He set his mug down on the desk and clasped his hands together.
"T’Pring was correct in her assessment that our bond would not amount to what she is likely to achieve with Stonn. Her actions were logical."
"Oh, c’mon now.” McCoy waved a hand. “Logic. She'd’ve been lucky to have you."
"I continue to resist belief in the concept of luck, doctor."
Jim leaned closer then, brushing their shoulders together. Spock turned to address him, watching as a warm expression reached his eyes, flecks of soft pink light reflecting back from golden depths.
“I’ll convince you yet,” he murmured. Spock’s mind went blank in its attempt to formulate a response, making it a relief when the doctor cleared his throat.
He shifted back, centering his posture. “Regardless, Captain.”
“Jim,” he corrected. “Off duty, remember?”
He touched his glass to his lips but still did not drink.
“Regardless, Jim.” In his peripheral vision, Spock saw McCoy finish his own drink in one swallow. “You misunderstand my meaning.”
“Then what did you mean?” The doctor’s voice was harsh from the burn of alcohol, blue eyes narrowed.
“I am not interested in sharing a life with her on Vulcan, as my home is no longer there.”
Jim had propped his head against his hand, swirling his last dregs of green lazily with the other, waiting for him to say more.
“Of course, the issue is compounded by my lack of attraction to females.”
The glass slipped from Jim’s fingers, shattering against the floor. Spock raised both brows as the man then raised his hand toward McCoy and shushed him loudly.
“I didn't say anything!”
Jim leaned in toward Spock with urgency, nearly slipping off his chair in the process. Their knees touched, broken glass forgotten below them.
“Lack of... attraction?" He repeated. Spock noted a change in color to his cheeks, deepening beyond the usual pigment caused by alcohol consumption.
“To females.”
Spock nodded.
“Explain.”
“They do not arouse me,” he answered simply.
“Well, would you look at that?” McCoy was looking down into his empty glass. “I need another drink.”
“But, Spock.” Jim reached out for his shoulder as if the interruption had not occurred, grasping tightly to regain his attention. Spock raised a brow.
"Men." He whispered the word as if it contained some sort of secret. “Do they-”
McCoy turned from where he’d crossed the room to retrieve the bottle of brandy. Apparently too quickly, as his steps stuttered sideways.
"Jim!"
Jim’s hand on Spock’s shoulder jumped away, though he pulled his eyes away with significantly more difficulty.
"What?"
"You can't just-"
Spock interrupted. "It is a logical question."
"See?” Jim was smiling brightly when he turned back toward him. “He thinks I'm logical."
"Yeah, well, I think you're both stupid."
Spock crossed his arms over his chest, but Jim ignored the insult. He attempted not to notice the anticipation behind his expression, the way it pulled at him, made him consider reaching out as Jim so often did.
"Well, Mr. Spock?"
Spock blinked. "Males are, indeed, of primary interest to me."
"That's a whole lotta words to say you're gay."
McCoy had leaned back against the partition, glass to his lips. Jim covered his mouth to stifle a laugh, though it escaped in the form of a huff through his nose, eyes sparkling with mirth.
"I believe, gentlemen, that is my cue to take my leave."
"No!” Jim’s smile fell suddenly and he leaned back into Spock, hand reappearing at his shoulder.
“Stay? Please?”
He swallowed, blinking slowly. Spock was all too aware of the four centimeters his hand slipped down his arm before his grip tightened to stop it, as well as the six centimeter decrease in space between their faces.
“You haven’t even finished your tea, after all.”
This was a correct statement. Jim’s hand slipped another two centimeters lower.
“Yeah, Spock. Stay,” McCoy encouraged, downing the rest of his drink once again. “I’m leaving.”
Spock only briefly glanced at him before looking back at Jim.
“Very well, Captain. If you wish me to remain.”
“Jim, Spock. Jim. And yes. I do.”

do you have any tips for drawing Kirk? 🙏 TvT William Shatner’s stupid face is getting every single one of my goats
Tumblr media
Ok, so I've never really given drawing tips but! I think one of the hardest things about drawing kirk is his overall face shape. (I am assuming here that we're talking about tos) It is very square as you can see, but the thing is, its also very soft. In many shots he doesn't have a super defined jawline, and in others he does. Also, he also very small eyebrows compared to how most men are portrayed nowadays. He's got hooded eyes so again in various shots they look different depending on how he's holding his face. In some you can see his eyelid, others not so much. I think a lot of people want to draw tos kirk as possibly younger or more defined, but thats not how he looks. He has wrinkles and its part of what really makes his face clearly his.
so here I got rid of the lines of his face, and made it a little less square and a little more sharp. It's still vaguely him but things are clearly missing
Tumblr media
Another thing is his hairline. Push that thing farther back than you think it should be. He's got a larger forehead and we love him for it. Obviously the first part is more screen accurate but feel free to play around with your style. I mostly draw realism (unlike my latest piece) so that's where most of this advice is coming from. In my experience his lips stretch out a little longer than what is typical, a little past the middle of his eyes, especially when he's smiling. I will also say, his jaw will always connect pretty high into his ear. Its something I notice in every ref, that connection goes decently high.
He is also very expressive, as we all know, and sometimes that can be a little difficult to capture, this mostly just takes practice and knowing how the face moves.
In conclusion, Id recommend focusing on just the overall shape, and then the lines of his face. Even if the eyes, lips, and nose are a little off, those lines of his face make a huge difference.
I have no idea if this is going to help literally anyone, but hopefully its at least understandable.

Thinking of Bones complaining to Jim that he thinks he's not rested enough to be running the ship at the moment and he's gonna get them killed or something and Jim just goes "Ugh if you're so worried why don't you sleep with me" and just. Does not think about how that sounds until he says it out loud
man still hasn’t realized what he’s said

Do you have any favorite/interesting short essays? I'm in between semesters and not wanting to fall totally out of practice reading academic writing.
I do! It seems like you're specifically thinking of academic essays, which for me are generally specialized enough that it's a bit difficult to recommend them without knowing what topics someone is interested in.
That said, some academic essays worth reading, which are available on JSTOR:
Julia Prewitt Brown's 1990 review "The Feminist Depreciation of Jane Austen" articulated a lot of my frustration with feminist critics' often rather narrow readings of Austen (it's not anti-feminist, but rather pointing out the short-sighted form of feminism and bizarre hot takes in what was then the established feminist literature on Austen specifically). 11 pages long.
Elizabeth McGrath's 1992 article "The Black Andromeda" about the whitewashing of Andromeda (especially in reference to Ovid's Andromeda) in art and general discourse around her. 16 pages long.
Jacqueline Jones Royster's 1996 essay "When The First Voice You Hear Is Not Your Own." I have a lot of gripes with composition studies, but this one's good. 11 pages long.
William K. Wimsatt and Monroe C. Beardsley's 1946 "The Intentional Fallacy" is very dated, but also very worth reading in terms of the history of anti-intentionalism, especially given how important anti-intentionalism is to modern fandom (usually in reference to Barthes's "Death of the Author" but the basic concept long predates it). 19 pages long.
It belatedly occurred to me that you might be looking for shorter or more casual essays than these, or on less directly academic topics (though maybe not!). For instance, if you're more "here" for SF/F than my other interests, there are some great essays in Uncanny Magazine and Reactor among others (I find Reactor a bit hit and miss, but when it hits, it hits hard). For instance, I recently read and enjoyed "Seven of Nine is a Third-Culture Kid" by Dawn Xiana Moon and "On Learning to Read Generously" by Molly Templeton.
I could also give you some recommendations for essays more directly about history or psychology in some area that I find interesting, but that's likely to be less accessible and I assumed not what a follower of mine was likely looking for.
