Tumblr reblog chains are in danger.

It seems that the staff is actually going to go forward with their decision to remove reblog chains, where reblogs will basically work like regular comments on other websites.

This doesn't just make the site completely unusable, it removes the soul of the community that has managed to build up here over the years, and that I'm so happy to have recently joined.

It makes impossible the creation of great posts where many people build up a single thing, until it is a gem of expressed human creativity.

There will be no more world heritage posts, no more messing around with your mutuals, no posts worth remembering.

There will be no more Tumblr, and the Tikblr or TumbTube or whatever monstrosity is born from its corpse will soon die, as is probably the best. And then there will never be another place like this on the internet, no place anymore to run to, no more fun, no more community.

I recommend a simple course of action. When these changes get imposed upon us, stop using Tumblr. Get your mutuals' discords, your favourite artists' websites, and leave. If the Tumblr we have once known returns, we well too. If not, better let it die quickly than suffer a long and painful decline.

I beg you to reblog this, for the more people see it, the higher chanses are for this to work.

And add something, so we can show them what Tumblr is really for.

If Staff ever implements the editing method from Mastodon, we'd be fucked.

Currently, on Tumblr, if you edit a post, all the former reblogs stay exactly the same.

On Mastodon, editing a post changes all the boosts and simply notifies the people who interacted with the post prior to the edit.

Now, can you imagine that on Tumblr?

Surely giving the OP the ability to edit their post after hundreds of thousands of people have reblogged it would be a perfectly balanced feature that I'm sure the Tumblr' userbase has never abused before.

PoA AU where Sirius hangs out at Hogwarts as a dog. The students love him. Sirius is getting treats and cuddles and he can spend time with Harry without anyone freaking out, which is very great.

The staff is aware there is a dog in the school. The staff Cannot Find The Dog. Remus is Sweating™. But like, he heard Harry talk about the dog, and he's obviously fine and alive, so either the dog isn't Sirius or Sirius doesn't want to kill Harry, right???

(the whole thing ends up when Remus is getting out of class or his office when he sees a rat shrieking down the hallway, followed by a big black dog, and he has a moment thinking uh, feel like a déjà-vu, before his brain catches up and he starts swearing and running after them)

It feels like @staff and @humans have really lost the thread on what tumblr actually is, because tumblr is theoretically not a social media site

Back in ye olden days having your own personal blog with like blogspot was all the rage, it was clunky to find other blogs since they were entire other websites AND THATS WHAT TUMBLR IS

Tumblr is a hub that lets you look at all the new content from your blogs in one place, that’s why it’s so different fundamentally from what I’ll call the MySpace model of social media, that’s why I think redditors as forum users fit into the ecosystem so much faster than twitter people, because Reddit is tumblr but for forums instead of blogs

Trying to make tumblr look and or function like twitter, a fundamentally different product, will just end up making people leave en masse like we did in late 2018 to find greener pastures, and especially pastures that don’t roll out updates in vague corporate speak and with no specific prior notice (because staffs recent post was worded towards shareholders and not Us)

My most loathed coworker has taken up residence on what used to be my favorite work day. Mondays were just me alone in the bed box, but now he splits the day with me and just incessantly talks. Even if I hide across the room or put on headphones.

Not only that but he usually shows up an hour early and hangs out before his shift and I have started dreading my Monday shifts beyond all reason.
