Hehe Pigeon Ace has been rattling around in my brain for a bit, so here’s a little Drabble of him!!! Inspired about how little lovebirds tend to shuffle real close to your neck when it’s a little cold, I’ll like to think that he’s super soft…

There’s something smoothing about the rain, at least for you. The constant pitter patter of each individual raindrop against the window, the fresh, crisp scent wafting through cool air, and the wind shouting with glee as it rustled through the leafage.

You’ve always found rain oddly calming.

Pigeon Ace doesn’t share your opinion, though. He really, really doesn’t like the rain.

Raindrops meant wet wings, feathers soaked to the bone with ice-cold water, his entire lightweight body weighed down by each and every damned raindrop. As if the rain was chaining him down, robbing him of his powers of flight. Not to mention how loud the thunder gets, when he’s up in the cloud. How close the lightning strikes, bright flashes of nothing but ear splitting pain-

Rain means nothing but misery for him. So he’ll be at your window immediately when the first few drops of rain start to fall. Rapping at your door with bone-white knuckles frantically until you let him in. Oh, he’ll laugh his panic off like it was nothing, bantering with you as per usual, but you’ll be hard pressed to miss the way he slams your window shut, feathers all ruffled.

He’ll plop himself on the couch a distance away from you, but slowly as the storm starts getting more intense, he’s inching closer and closer by the minute. Until you’re pressed flush against his shoulder, Ace’s head leaning into the nape of your neck. Straining to get closer to you, in order to preserve the last bits of warmth he has burning in his chest.

It’s an animalistic instinct. Huddle and wait out the storm. He’ll try to play it off as such, but please be assured that those fingers wrapped around your arms would give anything to be intertwined with your own.

Please hold him tight as the lightning and thunder rattles the windows. Perhaps drag out a blanket, throw on some cheesy romance comedy. Rub aimless circles on Ace’s skin, comb through his feathers gently. Watch him melt at your touch, eyelids growing heavy every passing moment.

Soon, he’ll nod off right on your shoulder, cooing constantly despite the storm churning outside. There’s just something about rainy days with you that’s so special.

It’s odd, how being around you makes everything seem kinda’ better… But it’s not like he likes your presence that much, you hear him!

This is just basic observation but, I love how modern japan is depicted in a very standard anime color scheme, the backgrounds and buildings are also very typical anime style

and then when you get to NRC!!! the BURST of COLORSSS ughhh!!! I love how the night scene has purple undertones, given that it's the entrance ceremony and the secondary colors of the ceremonial robes is purple and gold.

like. comparing the above shots of yuuken to these ones. hes so ourpole, I do also love how exasperated he is when he's stuck in twst, it's been a while since i've read the Heartslabyul manga but i think he emotes a lot more in this trailer compared to the manga chapter equivalent.

and u can tell these backgrounds are very much trying to emulate the backgrounds in twst!! like look at how blocky the clouds are AGHSGHGHF but!! they also made it more detailed instead of making it just purely blocks/shapes like in the game, which tbh is a really good decision cus if the background art looked too similar to the games', it'd clash too much with the characters imo

the key art of all the housewardens is also soooo sososo beautuful, and the color design of the anime has got to be my favorite part of it!!! bcs AOUGHHH I LOVEEEEE how nicely saturated everything is!! All the complimentary colors they gave on the HSB crew's hair is also so neato I love how Deuce's and Trey's are very clearly inspired from their ingame chibi sprites. The blues in Ace's and Caters hair is also sooo sososo delicious, the soft pink/purple on Riddle also suits him very nicely!

if i could!! express just 1 fear!! the trailer footage likely only contains episode one.. maybe we'll get a second trailer with later episodes, but we'll see. anyways!! i'm so excited for it!!!
