Hello everyone! I've been in the RP scene off and on for the last ~20-ish years (invisionfree and proboards babey), and have done just about every genre you could imagine. So why did I make God's Country? Because while there are a plethora of incredible Southern/Appalachian Gothic boards out there, and many wonderful slice-of-life, small-town, real-life boards, what I found that I wanted was something that was the horror of the everyday: the realization that humans can sometimes be the monsters lurking under beds and in shadows. I'm typically drawn to stories with characters that feel deeply human -- weak in all the ways people can be weak, strong in ways that might surprise them and the viewer (or reader), flawed or broken and terribly, beautifully imperfect... but all the more human, vivid, real for it. I do my best to write these kinds of characters -- ones who make selfish decisions, who try to do the right thing but end up making things worse. For God's Country in particular, I am drawing a fair amount of inspiration from True Detective (season 1, specifically), Prisoners, and the non-science fiction aspects of Stranger Things... as well as crafting something of a love letter to Eastern Kentucky and Appalachia, taking a deeper look into the way things are there and how they came to be, the cycles of trauma and pain... and, I hope, the hope that can still live in spite of all of this.

Staff Intro - Sorrow

Alias: Sorrow Age: 31 Pronouns: She/her Time Zone: EST RP experience: Closing in on 20 years. JCINK experience: About 10 years, give or take. Favorite supernatural creature: Witches. Why Savage?: Savage is a concept that I've been sitting on for probably close to two years now. The primary reasons for sitting on it this long are: 1) The topics it encompasses are sensitive ones that need to be treated with care and respect. 2) I wanted to be certain that this was a world that I wanted to share with others.

For a very large part of my life I have struggled under the weight of my mental health. In the last four years I have attended an hour long therapy session every week, where I have learned so much about both mental health in general, and how my mental health effects me. I've also come to realize just how large of a roll it plays in so much of the world's population.

Along with my own experiences with mental health, I have known and loved a large number of people who had their own mental health problems, were addicts, or were otherwise disabled in some way. I have both personal and second-hand experience with the negative way people that fall into these categories are often treated by others around them. I've even experienced and seen other people who fit into these categories treating one another poorly - usually when one of them is "higher functioning" than the other.

I can; with total honesty, say that I have many, many times spent hours bawling my eyes out and wondering who - or what - I pissed off to end up with a brain that doesn't function "properly." It can absolutely feel like you've been cursed when you don't fit under the umbrella of society's standards.

By their very definition supernatural beings do not fit under that umbrella. And yet - despite some tropes like the 'tortured vampire' - most supernatural publications/media (that I am familiar with) either completely lack characters with disabilities, or only very lightly brush on the subjects. Maybe this is because supernaturals are supposed to be "superior" to humans in most people's minds. But quite often supernaturals are also considered to be more human-like than not.

I like the idea that supernaturals struggle with the same kinds of things that humans do, and that's where the concept of Savage comes into play for me.

Hello there,

Welcome to my blog.

I’m Redley. Relatively new to Tumblr still, but I’ve been finding that I’m comfy here. Though it still feels awkward (thanks, dysphoria), I prefer she/her pronouns. I don’t mind they/them, but… meh. Note that Redley is neither my legal or chosen name; it is solely a handle, and I will only tell you my chosen name if I feel comfortable with you. Here’s the main stuff I’m comfortable sharing or want you to know about me:

1) I’m transfem, but haven’t had an opportunity to do much actual transitioning yet. Dislike my voice, adore my hair. My luscious, glorious, flowing hair.

1.5) I am likely pansexual, but I haven’t done enough research to know for sure. All I know is, people are… well, people are hot.

2) I live in Florida, but was not raised here. The climate and scenery are nice; the local government sucks ass though. Also, I miss snow.

3) I’m a diagnosed autistic, falling somewhere on the high-functioning end of the spectrum. I’m on prescribed antidepressants, but have not been able to find a psychologist/psychiatrist yet because it’s fucking Florida.

4) There are a lot of things and people I don’t understand, but I’m always open to learning. Trying new food is a special passion of mine, and I’ve met some quite fascinating new people since starting this blog. (*eoughck* @potentially-a-poser *aucghk* @analogue-system *ahem*)

5) I will not tolerate hateful behavior. You will be immediately blocked for shit like denying any of the shades of aro/ace individuals as being part of the LGBTQIA+ community. If you see me spreading misinformation or saying something that excludes members of the community, please tell me. I’ll research the matter, as well as review any sources you send me.

5.5) okay so I think I’m demiromantic

6) I do not mind being tagged or sent asks or otherwise brought into conversations. People who abuse that will likely get blocked, but whatever your social anxiety is telling you probably comes nowhere near ‘abuse’ in my book. Anonymous asks are enabled, but that can likewise change if the feature is abused. Hate asks will be blocked, naturally.

7) I would prefer being asked before you directly message me. If you don’t, there is a possibility you’ll be blocked, but it’s not a guarantee. I don’t want me and my friends’ conversations getting buried by anything.

8) If you consistently and frequently post tiktok/reddit memes with little to no commentary, I may block you simply out of annoyance should you repeatedly show up on my dash. It’s not personal. If something about you makes me suspicious or uncomfortable, but not outright offended, I’ll most likely notify you of my reason before I block you.

9) Age: pick a number between 1 and 100 because it’s none of your fucking business. None of you are entitled to any of my personal information, regardless of the reason. I will share only what I want.

My Behaviors

There are certain things I gravitate towards or away from on this site. Here’s some:

1) I am most likely to follow people who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community, are mentally ill, or are dealing with some variety of personality disorder. This is mostly just due to the fact that I find the most common ground with those people. But even those who I have little common ground with, I’ll tend to find very interesting.

2) I don’t mind things like roleplay and hornyposting on my dash, but will almost certainly not interact myself, or make original posts in that category. More extreme examples won’t necessarily get you blocked or unfollowed, but… well, my filtered tags list may grow.

3) I don’t always tag reblogs. This may mean that my followers will see random things that caught my interest. It could be art, shitposting, tender affirmations, politics, or just goofy-ass Tumblr shit. If something I regularly reblog/post about bothers you and isn’t properly tagged, let me know.

4) I am discovering that maybe, I might, perhaps, be a little bit nosy. When I see someone receiving hate or suffering and stressed, I am likely to take it upon myself to do or say something to try to make them feel better. If I bother you with this, I will not be hurt or offended if you block me. In general, I will do my best to be respectful of it when people draw boundaries, so don’t hesitate to draw any you feel necessary.

5) If your intentions are pure, you will likely find that I try to be forgiving and/or understanding of your mistakes, at least in regards to interacting with me. (The /or is a very important distinction.)

6) I will often be attracted to dark, tragic, or dystopic works of art/fiction. I get a form of catharsis from such media, and some of my writing will reflect that.

That’s about it.

That’s all the important stuff I can think of, aside from tags which are at the end. Still, this post may be updated or rewritten in the future. In general, just be kind and open-minded, and we’ll get along fine. Even if you disagree with me, as long as you are civil and rational about things, I’ll likely have no problem interacting with you.

What are Vidirons?

➤ Vidirons come from a faraway advanced planet called AP-3091, in this planet life is good, the world flourishes with many creatures such as but not limited to the mystical wobbleworms,a vidirons favorite pet, electroberries, a favorite snack of vidirons and features calm and cool weather during the long summer days.

➤Vidirons themselves were placed there long ago by astronauts who were weary of the newfound planet and wanted to gather new information on it, that's why they have creatures in their chests, these creatures are their primary source of energy (with the exception of the plant ones who gather it from the sunlight) once thought to be emotionless and purely fueled by their tasks given this was soon seen as false when the whole space project was slowly abandoned. from this and no tasks they formed emotion, personality and even unique likes and dislikes.

➤Vidirons eventually discovered how to build themselves alongside their journey and they began to form into a flourishing society with buildings,towns,and families. its presumed they got this knowledge due to how they were coded. how they get the species inside their chests now, is unheard of. some presume the newer generations are holographic,some presume their replicated from spliced dna samples. alas we will never know.

also heavily featured in the s4 intro, this is obviously the next Big Thing

however!!! unlike previous intros, there are very few enemies featured, even major ones, besides the opening shots that summarize the previous seasons. either the show is keeping its antagonists very close to the chest, or the main conflict may come from the effect of this artifact, rather than a character with agency

where before there were shots of minor enemies, now there are shots that appear to be from swk's past, which means BACKSTORYYYYY AND I AM LOSING IIIIIIIIITTTT

now THIS ONE I am also VERY interested in seeing. doesn't seem like an enemy, possibly someone that used to be an ally of swk's? obviously theres tension, it looks like someone leaving flower fuit mountain. when it zipped by the first time I watched it, the location and hair made me of the other celestial monkeys, but now that I've got a good look at him, I'm not so sure they would be, yknow, blue with bright pink eyes

here are some comparisons between the character shots from the s3 intro vs the s4 intro (s3 above, s4 below). mei and tang's are pretty similar (mei's has been badass from day 1, MEI is badass from day 1, cant make cooler what is already the fucking coolest), though mei's features a new location (I imagine her great-times-a-thousand grandpa's house), and tang's seems to be hinting toward Tripitaka's story, rather than a generic feature shot

FINAL THOUGHTS!!!!!!!! between the flashbacks and the period-style outfits, seems like that scroll thing's effects have something to do with time travel, and the gang gets blasted to the past. my impression is that they either get powers, or are imbued with their predecessor's powers in the possible case that they take their places, cause of the whole, black goop thing. and it looks like we might even get a full history on swk, before the journey to the west takes place!!!!!

I'm so excited for those more familiar with the mythology to parse far more information than this, such as what artifact that black scroll actually is, the black goop, who is in front of (what I believe to be) the jade emperor in the fight with demon buddies, predictions for how that information might effect the plot, etc

as a bonus, some extra comparisons that arent really important, but I am still very happy to see

Backstory:

Professor Persiania, is a beastwoman from Queendom of Roses. She was raised to be a lady and to be proper. She endured this as of 5 years old. Though, her parents later passed away from a disease at 7, and she was left alone as an orphan. She began to start working and going to school for herself because she wished to stay in her home she lived in. She would countlessly study, work, then back to studying. She later got into fashion and biology down the road, and began to study to be a fashion designer. She made countless designs of biology, aesthetic outfits and costumes that were successful. At 16, she was invited to NRC to study. She refused but realized using magic could be a nice thing for her fashion designing ideas and of course to further her studies. So, she accepted and was put into the Pomfiore dorm. She was announced Vice Dorm Leader, next to the man Divus Crewel who was Dorm Leader. She couldn’t stand him but, she tried at least to do so. Later on, as she graduated her 4th year, she unlocked her unique magic “Tire of Fashion Decor”, where casted, she can create any outfit, fabrics, or even sometimes her own minerals when needed or cast upon. She was grateful of this and began to use it for her fashion career. At 22 years old, she noticed her tiredness was showing but she loved it. She shows her tiredness as all the hard work she had put into her life. She drank around 5 cups of coffee daily, to keep herself awake. Her fashion assistant began to notice her tiredness and recommended another job. She grew furious at this and asked why. The assistant explained, “You grow so tired you ramble on about outfits we know of you try to help us but we are getting everything done…”. Maggie would frown at the fact they were right. So she called Divus Crewel for assistance since yes they argued a lot in school but…they became close friends because of it, funny enough. Crewel would grin and suggest she become his assistant since he knew of her smarts in biology. She would frown about the joke but she took it upon herself to accept. Now 30, she works lazily as Crewel's science assistant teacher. And during that time of them working together, they grew love for one another year after year, she worked at NRC for 8 years.
