Six pathways to sustainable development.

UNCTAD calculated the costs along six key “transition pathways” that can amplify efforts and speed up progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

Climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution: Includes strengthening commitments under the Paris Agreement, improving ecosystem management, reducing the effects of disasters and integrating climate and biodiversity actions.

Energy transition: Includes transitioning to renewable energy and improving energy efficiency, providing universal access to affordable and clean electricity, including clean cooking.

Food systems: Includes action to eliminate hunger and malnutrition, shift from environmentally harmful practices, protect biodiversity and achieve climate neutrality.

Education transformation: Includes investing in education, early childhood development and care, and enhancing scientific research.

Social protection and decent jobs: Includes providing universal health care and social protection, promoting gender equality and inclusion in society and decision-making, advancing decent jobs and driving prosperity.

Inclusive digitalization: Includes progressing towards universal digital access and use of digital resources, equal access to banking and financial services and higher technology activities.

In addition to these six pathways, UNCTAD is working with UN Women to estimate the cost of achieving gender equality for certain SDG indicators.

Headcanon #400: Heart & Mind are usually never a neutral temperature. The area around them is like the sun & moon. Mind's being hot and Hearts being cold. They're body temperatures however contrast that with Mind always feeling cold like metal/machinery and Heart feeling warm like a literal heart.

Do you remember when the job progression quests had dialogue cutscenes and difficult quests? Each town had its own gear and you'd have to drop blue-background items to upgrade it. And it was character-specific too. Ice statues had to be crafted, and the ingredients would just pile up in your inventory. There was Unique equipment for every region you had a chance to drop after a boss battle, and it'd be shown in the chat. Plant Overlord's accessory was the top trending thing. Rena was blonde and did a flip when she double jumped. The first field introduced was the one between Hamel and Velder. The level cap was 40 and it was *hard* to get there.

I sure don't miss a lot of this stuff, but looking back, it feels like a wholly different game.

i played around when the game was still like this for the most part, except the level cap at the time was 70? and then over time it jumped to 90 but my middle-school/high-school ass couldn't keep up. actually, i remember seeing the new UI the game has for the health bars and that was already enough to throw me off. not that it looks bad, but i remember seeing this UI for the longest time:

like as much as i miss the one i got acquainted with, this new one is a lot simpler and cleaner? yet it retains that cartoony vibe with the slanted bars so thats neat. and then there's THIS:

i'll admit i havent played during this era but man this looks busy af. it was simple yea, but something feels off about it. like i love the look here too but it kinda clashes colors-wise. there's not too much of a difference between the original UI and the one after it but i could tell it needed slimming down.

while i was gone i also learned that the previous privately-hosted server VoidEls was shut down but was eventually replaced by another, which is fair enough i guess.

this was both cool and annoying, for me personally at least. it's cool in that every town having gear gave you a way to progress before getting even stronger gear. sort of like a jumping-off point for every town you got to as they handed you their own version of stuff you could use. and you could emulate their aesthetic by wearing their gear. the annoying part is that constantly switching gear means item management is necessary to prevent your inventory from maxing out, and not every item looked good on you. if you didn't have skins? tough luck. (my memory might be wrong here so please correct me if i messed something up)

THEY GOT RID OF THOSE!? maybe im jaded but as a writer, i liked seeing the player-characters' personal struggle as they progressed through a job-specific mission. those short cutscenes let us see what they're really like. even if some of the requirements really were trash. i still remember spamming the same dungeon over and over hoping for a quest drop (or multiple) so i can move on. but after hearing the story was consolidated to be one singular, linear path regardless of who you played, maybe they streamlined the job class progression system too?

update: yea it seems you still have to spam dungeons to upgrade to Master Class but it looks less tedious than before for previous class ranks.

boss accessories were the bane of my existence so this makes sense. it seems like it's unobtainable, as many overworld zones and dungeons have since been removed based on what i just looked up

Happy Spookiween! - October Magma Drawings!

WELL WELL WELL I may not have a full art piece, but I DO have...some new sygna suit designs! These were done for @choochooboss 's spooktacular magma! We were tasked to do some sygna suits, and I was HYPED to participate! Sadly...the prince of pasio will have to wait for his flashy outfit...but as compensation, have Hoopa dressed as Lear! (He absolutely stole the shades.) Hope you all enjoy these! Check out below for the concept sketches for Ingo and Emmet!

Sygna Suit Ingo & Chandelure! I'm sure many have done the idea...and I wished to do my own interpretation of the concept! Though, I was almost too shy to do it. Thankfully with enough encouragement from friends, I was motivated to bring this idea to life!

Sygna Suit Emmet & Shiny Hisuian Zoroark! Now THIS was something many didn't expect! Inspired by the chats and brainstorming myself and my close friend would have, I ended up doing an initial idea for a simple outfit inspired by the pokemon a few months back! Now, with the magma, I was inspired to take that simple concept and just dial it up to eleven! I was nervous that it wouldn't be just as cool as the design for Ingo, but I'm glad it didn't end up being the case!

2) I do Not claim the aftermath of the Winter War/timeskip/Lost Agent Arc okay. Power loss arcs/storylines squick me out, okay! They're just. Sad. And I hate 'em. So a 'fix-it', the basis being that even if the Old Man and White Zangetsu were fused, it was the Old Man acting as 'Zangetsu' when Ichigo used the Final Getsuga Tensho, so the backlash went a little. Funky. (Bc yes i go with the theory that the Final Getsuga is a shinigami/Shiba thing not a bastardized Vollstandig and that mattered) so instead of losing his powers, Ichigo's soul started to destabilize (which yeah, did affect his power levels, but more on the his reiatsu is back to where it was before the Dangai instead of. Well. Everything) which to be fair was Very Bad and potentially fatal in the moment, so he had to be placed back in his body and was medically forbidden to leave it until his soul healed (which. for the purpose of the fused au is also how Ichigo figured out about the able to turn into a ghost on command thing-the combination of being forced to transmit spiritual energy through his physical body while he was healing+learning that his goddamn old man was. a shinigami actually shifted his worldview enough that when he was okayed to leave his body he just. Transformed instead). Alas, on account of his soul barely holding together with spit and determination and the teensy little detail of him being part-Hollow (and actual-Zangetsu being the only one awake to frantically try damage control) meant that some wires got crossed as his soul was healing itself, and well, instead of re-solidifying in it's previous state some elements from (both of) his Hollow form(s) filtered in accidentally to his new base state. Which. Yk. Is a super fun thing to find out and absolutely not at all horrifying to learn to live with.

The doctrine of discovery is one of the core concepts used to justify colonialism, especially of the settler variety. This is what the Canadian Museum of Human Rights says about it:

The Doctrine of Discovery is a legal and religious concept that has been used for centuries to justify Christian colonial conquest. It advanced the idea that European peoples, culture and religion were superior to all others.

The doctrine of discovery comes from a series of declarations from the pope in the 1400s that suggested christianity and christian cultures were superior to all other religions and cultures, and basically said that christian europeans had the right to invade and claim land and resources from non-christian people, and also had the right to subjugate and convert those populations. It's literally at the very core of colonial history and the myth of white supremacy and christian supremacy.

When the pope was visiting Indigenous communities in canada last summer, more than an apology for the catholic church's role in residential schools, what people were asking for was the overturning of the doctrine of discovery. An apology is meaningless as long as that doctrine stands.

Today, the vatican formally rejected the doctrine of discovery. It's a symbolic gesture, sure. But it's still a sign that things are changing. Space was held for Indigenous voices, and the vatican of all places listened to them.

Obviously, there's still work to be done, and colonization didn't just suddenly end because of this announcement, but this is still huge news, and it feels like we're a tiny step closer to Land Back.
