im kind of feeling sad know that the dsmp has ended like this has brought our system so much joy when we needed it, end the first introjects that our host met where dsmp introjects. This server has ment so much for our system that its kind of ard to except that it is know gone and that there wont be a season 2. everyone in mcyt fandom talks about bad inventories but i feel like we don't talk enough about the different types of bad inventory & the ways that inventories can be characterizing. i took most of these screenshots but one or two of them aren't by me and i've just had them saved for a few months sorry. i'm taking inventories from various people across various servers (wild life, dream smp, hermitcraft, lifesteal, and 2b2t) to illustrate my point here

like there are inventories that are bad because they're empty:

but then there's also inventories that are bad because they're full:

and, like-- the different ways an inventory can be bad are also characterizing? an inventory can be bad because the items aren't stacked; or because it's empty of anything useful; or because it's so full of building/fight supplies that there's no slots left for doing anything else; or because it's full of random junk. it speaks to a character's position (compare tubbo's diamond sword and empty inventory to ranboo's netherite sword or zam's full inventory of potions) and the rules of the server they're on (tubbo's not wearing elytra because elytra aren't allowed on the dsmp; zam's inventory has chorus fruit and wind charges but no ender pearls because ender pearls aren't allowed this season on lifesteal) and what their priorities are (building, pvp, lore) and how organized vs scattered they are and so much more. another inventory i like:

like!!! that's so instantly characterizing, for both the character and the server!!!! 5 stacks of end crystals + obsidian. 6 stacks of tnt. 3 stacks of god apples and a stack of chorus fruit as your only food. the bucket of lava and bucket of water for lavacasting. the fact that the flint and steel is enchanted with unbreaking. that's a STORY--of the character but also of the server! this is not the sort of inventory you have on most servers! it's so focused around griefing--explosions, lavacasts--and pvp, and the stacks of god apples as primary food source are an instant warning sign for widespread duping. the chorus fruit not for fights--ender pearls are strictly better, and he's got some so he clearly has access to them--which means it's for escaping traps, which means that's a live concern. it's got a lot of pvp supplies but it's so wildly different from the lifesteal inventory in ways that speak to the differences in server rules and cultures. like, horrendous inventory in many ways. also, very good inventory in some ways. also also, delightful inventory! fascinating inventory!!! inventories are such a delightful source of instant characterization i love them so so much

i frankly didn't watch like any of dsmp. i don't have the time to watch streams and dsmp didn't really have a steady source of cut down youtube videos. i saw the ranboo lessons stream, the tail end of disc war, and quackity lore but that was it. i just absorbed everything through twitter osmosis and clip channels.... and i still can somehow summarize the whole plot

Ok, let’s do this. So, this is my main DSMP AU

Jesus, the timeline of this thing so confusing, because most of the content for this AU was written down, it was me and my friend talking in character at 12:00-4:00am, so this probably won’t be fully concrete, and I’m still figuring out the main plot points and what’s canon to the AU. But a basic summary(ish) is: Dream got put back in prison (along with George), but not before messing with Ranboo’s memory book, so now he can possess Ranboo. Lots of shit happened, but I mainly focus on TNT duo (because they’re my sillies and I love them). TNT duo at this point basically just have a rivals with benefits sort of thing going on. Then, one day, Wilbur asked out Quackity, and he said yes. They went on that date, and had a great time, until, Quackity asked Wilbur to join Las Nevadas. Wilbur said he felt like he didn’t think he deserve it, Quackity took it SUPER personally (because of source he did), and then this occurred (I’m only showing the script because I’m not sure how else to describe it) (Wilbur’s W and Dream’s D if you couldn’t tell):

This interaction resulted in what I like to call “Wilbur’s self isolation arc”, where because he thinks he’s the worst person alive, he tries to shut out everyone who he thinks cares about him (which is literally just three people). And this works(ish), until he tries to it Quackity (kind of [I’ll post that script later {probably}]), and Quackity does NOT let that happen. Some time after that, Quackity asks Wilbur again if he to join Las Nevadas, to which Wilbur says yes this time (for reasons that make sense with context, I promise), and the major events after that are stuff that I consider spoilers, which I will gradually post after I post most of the stuff leading up to that. Hey idk if this is the right place to vent about this, and it’s kinda a petty thing in this the grand scheme of things, but as someone with diagnosed DID, we’ve had a ranboo, Tommy, tubbo fictive since 2021, (Tubbo writing this) and I hate what endos ended up doing in the dsmp fandom and to fictives from there. So many endos fluded system spaces that I’ve joined multiple severs and spaces that completely blacklist any and all dsmp alters, I don’t even get a chance. Hell even joined one that let any origins in , but again no dsmp alters. It really fucking sucks that we will never be able to be open about our source with certain people because the shit endos pulled and made people distrust and fakeclaim us just for our source. > Ways they do their role: Niki is a sort of healer, primarily working in fixing up any damages that come to her family, and then hunting down however did it and beating the shit out of them. Niki may like to make healing potion infused food in the innerworld. 

> Inner world occupation or behavior: May own a bakery or other place to do cooking, prefers to work there during the day or during their downtime. They may sell these baked goods in inner, and in fact, the back end of the bakery may be like a portal leading into the syndicate hideout. 

> Possible outerworld behavior: May like cooking and baking, and because of that, may LOVE the holidays. (especially if you have trauma surrounding it, fruit may front for the holidays and make them easier).

thinking about the planned/never executed dsmp timeloop ending again

and how everything makes so much more sense because of it.

thinking about how it explains the way it's a land beyond time, where their technology is still that of crossbows and swords but there's also vehicles (drug/burger van) and screens/computers (las nevadas).

thinking about how tales of the smp makes 100000x more sense with it. thinking about how wilbur didnt have a room in mizu because he could've removed himself from the loop by leaving the smp and going to utah (theory from @/idkwatthehec !!)

thinking about how it actually fixes the nuke ending,, to an extent.

thinking about how every character's story just has that much more impact, because they're so intrinsically Themselves and they've likely lived out similar arcs many times before since it's just the way that they and the people around them Are.

thinking about how such minor details, such as removing one person or object, could dramatically change the loop's course.

thinking about how much more terrifying the idea of limbo is after that. does it reset with the rest of the smp? does it exist beyond the loop? etc.

thinking about how, if wilbur was able to leave and escape to utah, does the loop extend outwards to the rest of the world, or is it just an isolated thing inside the smp? and what this would mean for the extent of drmxd's power

thinking about characters forgetting, but their souls remembering the tiniest things. tommy still getting a feeling of dread when he's near tnt. tubbo still jumping a little harder than normal around fireworks. ranboo getting an odd sense of sick deja vu when he sees obsidian.

eggpire-affected people having a sort of guilt that they can't understand the source of or why it follows them.
