Hi Bones!! Thank you for you hard work on this project and for sharing it with us!

I've seen your posts about weird representation of society (regarding the "natural order of things") in xenofiction, especially in lion king, so I wanted to ask:

could you recommend any xenofiction media that has all (or most of the) animal species sapient? Or is the only solution to make just one or two species sapient while the others (especially prey) are plain animals?

Really sorry if you've seen this ask from me before - my account had a weird laggy period when I couldn't send or receive messages and asks, so I don't know if you got the previous one! I just know that now it's fixed so I double all the asks sent haha

Honestly I'm not totally sure! If any 3rd person has some good recommendations for "every being is alive" xenofiction types, feel free to weigh in.

If you want to jump in with me though, I am following the webcomic Africa. It updates every Wednesday. Africa is about a mother Leopard on the verge of a great ecological disaster, the relationship between her children and the animals around her, and the strength of both instinct and choice as the characters face an uncertain future.

Since it's ongoing, I still don't know how it's going to end and can't judge it as a full work! But it's absolutely fascinating and I think the author is doing a fantastic job so far. Bonus points for the way it portrays humans, btw.

No more spoilers though, if you're interested, it's on Webtoons.

(I'm also planning to read Oren's Forge soon. Ask me about it again in a few months over on Bonebabbles and I'll give you my thoughts)

As an aside though, funny you mention it because like... ever since I was a kid I've had a story I want to tell with the premise. It's a scintilla I've kept close to me for well over a decade but haven't done anything official with. So this is actually a theme I've thought about a lot.

It's rare to see it done well though because like... its very premise butts heads with reality. The "natural order" that an animal follows is not something it moralizes. A tiger doesn't have the capacity to think about how fucked up it is to kill to stay alive, the deer doesn't know that if its population isn't controlled it will destroy the forest.

They're animals. They don't HAVE that agency. Your dog does not care about being sterilized. A snake doesn't differentiate between a pinky and an adult mouse except in terms of if it will fit in its mouth. But the minute you put human morality in there... they have the ability to reason, create and agree on the rules of a society, make choices about MORALITY.

If nothing is going to change about their world, you just end up putting human arguments about "natural order" in their mouths and, well... start telling a parable justifying this "natural order."

(Genuine) Does what I'm saying make sense? Animals DON'T rationalize or negotiate. HUMANS do.

So the minute you're approaching a world with that logic, like it or not, you are invoking those "arguments from nature." And you're putting them in a being that is not fully an animal or a human, but an anthropomorphic mix which CAN rationalize but WON'T make an effort to change their world.

(Which is why tbh the best examples i know of are works with a theme of "change.")

OH WAIT I also remember another that's interesting!! Leafy: Hen into the Wild actually has a fascinating take on it. It's not interested in "moralizing" or really being about an animal society. It's a very emotional sort of movie, and it's about joys in adversity, the freedom that choice gives you, how bad things are going to happen and you can never completely prevent them.

INTENSE movie emotionally, the ending will wreck you (especially in the English translation which leaves out a really important theme making it feel abrupt x_x) but it's really good. Check that one out.

OH and also You Are Umasou. That one has more pitfalls imo (it does try to moralize a bit) but it's super unique as a movie. And is about dinosaurs.

Hello! I hope your week has been fine. I've seen some of your Journey to the South stuff. Very neat! I'd like to ask, just as their (baby?) sister have the power to curse immortals to death, what powers did you give Luohou and Qidou? Qidou has a giant inkbrush and Luohou some kind of sun imagery in the back. What do those mean? Are those related to their powers? What personality did you give them?

Also, I hope you don't mind if I insert some LMK ideas (because I know you don't like the show's direction of SWK) but I have a thought that the Macaque character might be more palatable and makes sense as JTTW's sequal character if the character was originally a separate character from the SEM, just a monkey demon with extraordinary hearing who was friends with SWK, who was killed during SWK's journey, something SWK realized too late, then was revived but as a price, SAM'S soul latched onto his and sort of fused together, so now he's being possessed by the monkey that tried to usurp his old friend's life, while his body is slowly changing and his identity is mixing with SAM'S memories and feelings.

Just a ramble of idea here. You may ignore it if you aren't interested. Have a good month, eat your fruits and vegetables at least once a week!

AUGH so sorry that I've taken so long to get to this question @angstandhappiness (X_X). Part of it is me still finalizing Quidou and Luohou's whole deal! I'm honestly happy that you're interested in what I'm planning for those guys, though I do want to note that Quidou is the one with the mirror behind him and Luohou is the one with the giant paintbrush. I'll try to get some more sketches out for them soon :D

OUGH some of the asks I've gotten (yours included) have offered some really neat ideas on what could be done with Monkie Kid as it now stands! tbh a good deal of my disappointment with the route Flying Bark took with Macaque was the way they just wholesale threw away everything about his devious and terrifying evil twin self from the og classic in order to make him this angsty oc Shadow the Hedgehog clone, but honestly this suggestions seems like a pretty cool way to let og LEMH have a chance to shine in all his vicious and manipulative glory! As is WOW the scenario you've proposed presents a very interesting body-snatcher-ish chance to really get into how kind of creepy and honestly damaging to literally everyone Macaque's obsession with Sun Wukong is. Like it really lays on how Macaque has nothing defining his life or identity except what happens between him and the Monkey King, which does present a perfect opportunity for og LEMH to come in and be like "okay you clearly have nothing else going on let's try to murder/replace this guy again >:D"

I saw the assassin clone get up after being blown up and being a defiant little shit to Wolffe and was like, "Oh, shit. Is that my boi?" 😨 Overall, I just don't trust the show not to throw him under the bus like this.

First we had the curse of 'by the book' and "Haha, Cody boring! Nobody (Jedi) wants to bring him along on missions because he's dumb!" Then we had the entirely of Clone Wars show where he never once got to use his jetpack or do basically any paratrooper stuff, train anybody, or be part of the breakthrough of clones being allowed to have names/identities (the show literally never explains how this went from being illegal and neigh punishable by death or 'reprogramming' to "All the good guys call clones by their names cuz they're human beings."). History with Bad Batch, nah. Squad Seven, nah. How he went AWOL from the Empire, nah. Then the inhibitor chips taking away any nuance or grey areas of Order 66 ...

At this point, I'm just waiting from them to take the very last shreds of his agency and personality away and basically turn him into the Phase 0 Dark Trooper that I was so afraid I was going to see when this series began. There's a reason why I keep watching "The Solitary Clone" from last season. Not only does it showcase some of the best parts of who Cody is and what he does, but it got to the core questions and subtleties of who the clones are and the problems they face. (basically everything I wanted from this show and Clone Wars)

It's such a weird feeling knowing that a character that quickly grew into more than just a flat background character, and built the foundation (alongside Alpha) for opening the door to all anti-war themes and other clone characters, could be back in the picture purely to receive more punishment as a mere plot device. And, I know that Cody's story is not one that the showrunners were interested in telling at any point, but it's such a bummer for me if this is how they plan on bringing his story to its canonical conclusion. Especially after the absolute gem of his episode in season 2 giving us snatches of these deeper existential themes of war, power, and being trapped in a system that harms people.

In essence, I have a bad feeling about where season 3 is going.

Ok so now ... a general comment about what the show is. Took it from wiki tbh ^^

The series is set in Victorian London and follows a group of people, mostly women, known as the Touched, who suddenly manifest abnormal abilities. Among them are Amalia True, a mysterious and quick-fisted widow, and her best friend Penance Adair, a brilliant inventor.

The Nevers is described as "an epic science fiction drama about a gang of Victorian[s] who find themselves with unusual abilities, relentless enemies, and a mission that might change the world."

At first I'm not the kind of person who loves Victorian London settings BUT this show honestly made me like love it ^^ (sorry youtube for all the Victorian dresses making videos I watched lately and NO I do not plan on creating one it's just ... hyperfixation) I love fantasy, I love sci-fi... so that's why I might like this show. The sci-fi part is the powers but also the big TWIST. (Nope won't tell you about it and yep I was sadly spoiled about it ... I know I shouldn't have went through the tag :D) Oh and also ... SteamPunk energy. I swear, at the start of ep 6 you will be ... Is it the right show I’m watching ? :D

It’s HBO so ... yeah sex and nudity sometimes are a thing. Sometimes it’s kinda dark but it also has humor and amazing lines/quotes. 

There’s some White Old Man™ talks especially in the first two eps where they discuss in their closed clubs about the fate of the Touched ... You know :D Boring talks where you wanna rip their throats when they’re talking about woman/Touched but it’s kinda necessary to get the feel of the situation they’re in.

It’s created by Josh Whedon but after what happened in other shows he decided to leave the show after ep 4 and Philippa Goslett took back the showrunner chair. Then you have  Jane Espenson as a writer ... Buffy, OUAT, Jessica Jones, ...

---------- Soooo the characters ----------

You have Amalia True, the number one main char who has the ability to see glimpses of the future. She doesn’t control it, she doesn’t know when her glimpses will manifest themselves and she doesn’t know when she sees an event that will happen, when it will actually take place. "The most irresponsible, spontaneous, and psychologically broken hero of 19th-century London, and a danger to the British elite. She is dedicated to her cause and never turns down a drink."

So yeah, you've guessed it, she's the perfect anti-hero, absolutely badass (in a corset and dress nonetheless), dark soul/past character. Who ... weirdly (we all know it and love it in our ships) is all soft and loving when one Penance Adair is concerned. Shocker, right? :D I swear the hearteyes I’ve seen x_x She’s also very protective of Penance. She’s got PTSD and doesn’t like large crowds.

She runs the Orphanage where a great number of Touched are gathered and live as a community. She protects them, she helps some others to get to safety and so on.

She’s played by miss Laura Donnelly who’s perfect for the role and amazing at doing different sorts of accents because, you might have recognized her from Outlander (Jamie’s sister), she doesn’t talk the same way AT ALL in both series. Also I’m in love with her voice in the Nevers I don’t make the rules. She’s 40 but honestly looks way younger. MILF am I right? Also Amalia fighting scenes are amazing and Laura has done the majority of it by herself !

You might have guessed ... I immediately thought of Jessica Jones when I saw her face ^^ But that’s kinda irrelevant here. She’s beautiful and messy and my kinda gal.

Then you Have Miss Penance Adair “Amalia's best friend, and a Touched with the power of 'seeing' electrical energy patterns and a skill for inventing. She is both religious and heretically progressive.”

She’s an amazing inventor, creating all sorts of gadgets for Amalia to fight with :D Our own 007 ... She’s her BeSt FriEnD ... When you know, you know. (Xena flashback ^^) She’s her wife right hand man and goes in the field to help Amalia. They also have this cute dynamic where Penance name an invention and Amalia calls it another way (the right way) and they bicker about it lovingly.

She’s THE sunshine character. Amalia is the Sunshine protector of course. But we all know who’s the top in the relationship and it ain’t Mrs. True. All her interactions with Amalia are WIVES™. She’s the cutie, she’s the hope and compass of Amalia. She loves to touch Amalia too ♥ Amalia is her idiotic suicidal wife and Penance has to deal with that but she doesn’t love her less. Like Laura said, Amalia loves Penance more than she loves herself. We all know it’s because she doesn’t think highly of herself but also because who doesn’t love Penance.

She’s played by Ann Skelly and has an amazing, lovely, Irish accent (Laura is Irish too but not in the show). And OMG I just checked and she’s only 25 ? She’s 6 months younger than me and I’m kinda shocked because I thought she was at least 28 :D Listen to her saying ‘fabric of the world’ at the end of ep 1 and not fall in love with her I dare you. You’ll fall in love with Penance way before the end of ep 1 tbh.

I honestly thought they would become canon until Laura Donnelly called them sisters in a IG live ... (Honestly the showrunner might make them canon who knows) but like Astraëlle even if they don't become canon I don't even care. Their interactions are magnificent and their relationship is everything that’s good in this world. Like I said, they have the WIFE™ energy, they’ve know each other when the show starts for about 3 years. “You’re supposed to be inseparable.” is an actually quote from ‘the bad guy girl’ (Maladie) or as I could say the misunderstood woman who’s kinda crazy too though don’t get me wrong ^^ But everybody is his own hero in his story. Maladie = Disease in French.

They both have what seems like male love interests too. One for Amalia who honestly I’m not a fan of. He’s cheating on her wife with Amalia so ... let’s not ship them. And then you have an adorable being as Penance’s LI aka Bird guy ^^ aka Augie. He’s a cutie like Penance and honestly if they go that way I won’t be mad.

Now ... the CANON queer rep ... I give them from the top of my head so if I forgot some sorry and please add them in the comments !

Hugo : pan man, of course we ship him with Augustus (Augie). Give them to me. They aren’t canon.

Won’t spoil it but there’s a repressed (kinda homophobic it feels like or at least not well in his shoes) gay man in the show too who’s as much as a main as Hugo and Augie. I personally am not a fan of him.

Nimble Jack is they/them (probs ?) not sure about it but the person playing them said this : “androgynous trans character” they’re not a big part of the show though so only a supporting char.

I asked because I don’t know about transgender things but I have this disorder and it seemed similar to what you were experiencing. I don’t believe in conversion therapy and would never suggest it to anyone.

This is my last message, I don’t mean to harass you. Just thought maybe if you knew I wasn’t suggesting conversion therapy it might help you feel a little better about the interaction.

Just remember when asking these kinds of questions, you're asking someone who has thought about this. It's a little bit like telling someone with chronic pain to try yoga. I have had chronic pain for a long time of course I've tried or thought about yoga. Surgery is a serious thing, of course I've tired and thought about other things.

This got long so I'm putting it under a read more. I just go into the difference between intrusive thoughts and dysphoria. ^_^

I also know you weren't necessarily thinking of conversion therapy bc you did not say conversion therapy. But CBT or DBT being used with the aim of curing/getting rid of bottom dysphoria is going to end up being conversion therapy. It would be an attempt to change the way in which I am trans and at this point i have no interest in doing that.

Therapy can be helpful for learning coping mechanisms to deal with bottom dysphoria (or any dysphoria) until you can find a way to alleviate the root cause! For example I pack.

I actually do have intrusive thoughts as well though. And, the worry about someone clocking me or my bottom dysphoria is very different from intrusive thoughts.

For starters, fear of being clocked is grounded in the very real and reasonable fear of someone harming me for being trans x_x but

Intrusive thoughts, as I'm sure you know, are wholly unwelcomed and distressing. They are founded on our greatest fears or on things that are disgusting to us. My intrusive thoughts about harming someone plague me. Mercifully I'm medicated now and they are few and far between.

My dysphoria isn't so much an unwelcome or distressing thought. The causes of dysphoria and differ from person to person but for me it's a combination of just literally feeling like my body looked wrong and wanting it to look different, and from the expectations put on my body from other people.

Secondary sex traits are gendered. So breast, body hair, voice pitch, and so on are all treated as something that implies a certain gender. A high voice is a woman's voice and a low one is a man's. And while i reject that vehemently there's only so much that rejection can accomplish.

I am a guy full stop. But I'll rarely be acknowledged as a guy if people see traits they gender as woman. So, with this cause CBT would be idk gaslighting myself into thinking this isn't the case. Which would be irrational bc it very much is the case that people gender me based off of my secondary sex traits even if they shouldn't.

As for the wrongness? Well idk my brain just kinda got some sex and gender wires crossed i guess 🤷 there's no amount of therapy that would have "fixed" my chest dysphoria. Just like there's no therapy that can make me not dyslexic. It's just a part of me. I always hating having a chest. Even if i had never learned the word transgender i would have gotten that shit cut off. Didn't want it didn't need it. Therapy telling me otherwise would have been distressing to the point of traumatizing.

And before you're like well what about body dysmorphia, like with people with eating disorders? Regardless of cause this shit can kill you. Dymorphia that causes disorders kills. My dysphoria isn't going to kill me.

Also with dysmorphia, the symptoms dont go away after a surgery. People will still obsess over perceived flaws. After top surgery i was 100% content with my chest. I was elated even. It felt like the best thing i had ever done for myself. 10 out of 10 would recommend 🥰 no regrets.

Hmm i think I'm tapped out for now 🤔 I'm a little tired and have a headache so i hope this makes sense and flows well.

Suffice it to say, if there was a therapy to "cure" bottom dysphoria i wouldn't chose it. I'd still go with bottom surgery bc that's what I want for myself ^_^

Im 5'3,brown hair short hair,chubby,blue eye's with a bunch of scars all around from childhood stuff the most noticeable one being one right above my brow from a rock. Im bisexual and genderfluid but usually go by she/her or he/him or even it/its really anything goes.

I deeply enjoy allot of music including eminem,classical,country,rock so I'm not in fixed music. I also deeply enjoy animals and bugs of all kinds tho i particularly fond of jumping spiders and the common house spider.i enjoy drawing/painting and psychology. I have a high pain tolerance and am a bit <allot> masochist. I have a oral fixation and need something in my mouth like suckers or toothpicks. I also hyperfixate allot and I enjoy more dark topics such as death and gore. I have VERY mild sweettooth but hate cakes,cookies or anything packing to much sugar in small thing. I hate frostings. I also hate loud noises or being touched to often. I prefer to have personal space so hugs as well as most physical touch are usually off the table until i trust them. I don't like wearing stuff with to much color so i wear neutral colors like gray,brown and black but never white. I tend to come off very cold and callous in a relationship and don't ever want children. I enjoy having dogs around often and actually have a dog of my own. I also enjoy having other animals around such as cats which i also own. - My first reason for picking Asa is pretty obvious: your love for bugs/animals! This would be one of the first things you bonded over. It can be hard for him to connect with people but mutually shared interests is a good place to start! - He wouldn't be the most physically affectionate either, so he won't mind if you want to keep him at arms length. Of course if you *do* want affection he won't complain either, though 👀 Especially after you've both warmed up to each other

- Asa isn't going to be the most verbally affectionate person, especially at first, but I can see him expressing himself through acts of service for sure, and appreciates that sort of thing in return (and probably gifts/giving, he'll often give you things related to your shared interests in hopes it effectively expresses his feelings for you)

- His own feelings are also expressed through fixating on you a lot. It might be unconventional but I think he'd like staring at/examining his S/O a lot? Almost as if he is trying to memorize your features

- He loves to see your art! Be it paintings/drawings or writings, he'll love seeing the sort of things you create. He is um, creative in his own way, so he'll appreciate things like that a lot x_x

- All in all Asa won't be the most conventional S/O but he'd be quite respectful and actually really would enjoy spending time with you. He likes his space and can be cold at times but he'll be very protective of you, almost sweet in his own way

Thanks a bunch too! ^_^ Road has always been one of my most favorite dgm characters. Before I just really liked her as a villian. But these past few arcs have really given her a lot of depth and dynamic action. She's really grown into one of the more interesting characters to ponder about. I'm always really reevaluating my theories about her and Neah. Before I thought she had a close bond w/Mana and that made her one of the Noahs less predujice when dealing w/Nea. But nope. She apparently -

2 hated Mana or at least wasn't against using and lying to him. That alone opens up a bunch more possibilities on Road and Nea's past. Nea being so connected to Mana would give Road no reason to personally care about him. She can also hide her true body elsewhere (like she did on the Ark). It's possible Nea didn't kill Road because he flat out couldn't. Road and Nea also haven't seen each other yet. It not be because of any sentiment on both parts. It could be Road despises Nea so much his-

3 very presence could trigger her like it does Joyd's memory in Tykki (except maybe worse). Nea is technically a even greater source of trauma and hatred for Road now. The real Mana at least doesn't want to be the Earl or the Pillar. Nea does (even if only to save Mana) and butchered everyone Road was close to. Leaving her to suffer forever alone (until Wisely showed up anyway). With all this info it's hard for me to imagine Road having any positive feelings for Nea. She obviously disagrees -

4 w/his objective despite having some kind of agreement with Cross herself (who is 99% devoted to Nea's side). It is possible she was convinced by Cross Nea will offer everyone the best solution. But I still think her and Wisely have a different mission in mind. Wisely after all hates Nea (which again makes me wonder if this sentiment is shared by Road since the 2 are working together secretly for something). Honestly that mission might be Allen or at least capable of including him. Both -

5 of them want Allen safe from Nea. Road does things to keep Allen grounded to his identity and resisting Nea's control. Wisely wants Allen cut off from Innocence and on their side. Despite seeing Nea as a threat he openly likes Allen. Shoot Road has more reason to feel negative toward Nea since he's essentially killing her Allen. I would not be surprised of Road got ptsd triggers after hearing about Nea devouring Allen's existence since it would once again remind her how Nea killed those she-

Even if he's trying to save Mana (who she now possibly seems to care about) she's going to lose Allen to him. More then that he's probably running contrary to her goals. Not calling Road and Wisely secret heroes. Allen alone is most likely going to be the one who figures out how to stop this war of reckless hate. But I'm just-

7 both her and Nea seem to have a far more complicated history now that it's revealed she did not care for Mana (something I imagine Be a saw very clearly). I also imagine she did not care for Nea too much because of the nature of his existence (honestly this explains so much why all Noah hated Nea). Both Nea and Road have plans to stop things. Both I bet are bad neas in some way. But maybe Road is willing to give Allen's way a chance now that she cares more in general for her own people.

Road is honestly such a fantastic character, it’s just that before last chapter it was so hard to figure out her motivations. It was always clearly not fully with the Noah even if she’s all “family is the most important”, and her care for Allen truly became genuine.

I think she didn’t hate Mana though, probably the second option you said, she wasn’t against lying to him. there was a Plan, a Script to Follow, and Mana was part of it.

I think it’s possible that Road may have ressented the previous Earl for leaving them and spliting and perhaps she projected on Mana and Nea but in the end i think she probably didn’t see them as heir own person because she had known what the “full earl” was supposed to be. 

I could see her being caucious about that.

As for Nea it’s very hard to say how she would have felt for him before the massacre but the massacre sure made her at least ressent him and i think she hates him for it...

but then there’s how she cries remembering Nea’s last words to Mana, with that smile on that face - and i think that even if it hurts she could see the love of the two brothers and was touched by it. She can hate what Nea did to her family while still at least not hating this part of him if that makes sense?

I think Road’s survival is completely due to her Dream form though, i think Nea wouldn’t have hesitated to kill her when he went on rampage. Imo i think everything Nea did was for Mana. And if Mana was to be sacrified (regardless of Road’s feelings about it), Nea could have wanted to “become the Earl” instead of him in order to save his brother from being a sacrifice. But for that it means people must have forgotten they chose Mana as their Earl. So killing all the Nea would do a “soft reset” of the Noah memories and Nea could pretend to be the Earl and save Mana from it. I think that could have been Nea’s initial plan and thus Road’s survival had no place in it.

Joyd seems to be the one with the clearest feelings against Nea considering the smile that pops up when Nea brings up the face looking like his - Joyd must be playing something on the long run but it is at least pettiness against Nea at the minimum.

But Wisely and Road are hard to get through. For Wisely i don’t know how much he’s actually wanting Allen to join them - right now he’s stuck in the Noah family, unlike Road who can pretend to be somewhere else. So he gotta follow the Earl’s order in some shape or another, not really show a will of his own. If any will there was, it was that he didn’t want to hang around Sheryl’s looking through the Bookmen’s head so perhaps he stayed out to keep an eye on Tyki considering Joyd is the most awakened Noah aside from Road and Wisely at this point.

But as of now i do think that both Road and Wisely dont’ want Nea back. Whenever it is to protect the Earl or because they grew to love Allen or both. 

And I agree with the rest, I think currently Road has all the reasons to hate Nea and now there is perhaps another path they can try out to protect her family. 

since Road loves her family and wants to protect them, while we know they are set up to be sacrified in some way, Road could be willing to take a road that would protect her family while still carrying on what plans they had to start with.

And i think Allen offers this opportunity in some way.

So i could definitl see that and that’s fascinating! i’m so glad of her development so far i’m just... so curious about it all ahhh

He tries to strike up a conversation, but he doesn’t try to catch your attention first, so Selasi catches your attention and point to Julian, who has been at it with a monologue for the last five minutes. You poke his shoulder and let him know you’re deaf, the way will depend on if you are also nonverbal or if you are verbal. Once he understands he blushes to the tip of his ears and apologises profusely. He does want to get to know you more, though, so he makes it a point to ask you about sign language so he can communicate with you.He will ask if it’s alright to write things down as he starts to learn SL. If you’re verbal he will never comment on your tone or the way you pronounce things, he doesn’t care about those things. On his free time he will go to the library and do additional research on sign language so he can learn faster.He will never stand in when you’re trying to communicate with someone unless you specifically ask him to. He respects your efforts, and knows you can fend for yourself very well, you have been doing it for a long time, why him being there would make a difference about that? Plus, he doesn’t really make a point about your deafness, he just views it as a part of you and he loves and respects all of you. He does get a bit worried at times, scared a cart will come your way and you won’t notice or something like that that could cause an accident, but he trusts you.But if you do need him, he will do everything he can to help you out. Hence why the additional studying.He has so many questions, though! He’s very curious and wants to know things, but he’s scared he will hurt you somehow for asking. He just loves you so much… But if you’re open for a thorough questioning you will get things like “Were you born deaf?” “Did you learn to speak when younger? (if you’re verbal)” “Who taught you sign language??” “C-can I have a name sign…? Oh… I mean… I know it’s an important thing… I read it in the library… B-but it’s ok, I… I was just curious…” If you HoH and not completely deaf he will ask you if you can participate in a small experiment to see what level of hearing you have, he will try to make it as fun as he can so you don’t feel like a guinea pig, because he doesn’t think of you like. Well, he’s known since he’s known you, but when he found out the first time he didn’t really comment on it. He was curious because he had never met a deaf person before, but he’s so chill he doesn’t really make a distinction about it. Besides he doesn’t want to make you uncomfortable. He did ask some questions about your needs, sign language, if you are verbal, etc.By the by, though, you saw some things change around the shop: He created a magical system so when the door of the shop opens and you’re not at the counter lights go off around the place to alert you. If you don’t have a familiar to help, he teaches Faust to be a door alarm as well, so she will come fetch you if you happen to not see the lights. He started to use sign language without you prompting him, you still don’t know where he learned it… And even after he brought you back all of these things didn’t change.He does small things that make you smile too. Like he will come up to you and give you a love note, and then kiss you because sometimes he signs too slowly. He does get apprehensive, specially after bringing you back, when you go out to run errands. He tries with all his might not to be overprotective about it, but sometimes he can’t help it and sends Faust to help you. But he works a lot on that, specially because he knows he leaves you alone and you can fend for yourself. He just… he wouldn’t bear you getting hurt and he knows not everyone is as understanding about deafness. But he doesn’t see you as disabled, so he won’t treat you like that, at all.If you’re verbal and insecure about it he will make you feel better, telling you that your voice is very nice and that he loves it when you speak even if it’s not often. He will sign to you if you ask him to, but he will ask if you want to read his lips as well, anything that makes you comfortable.He will NEVER use magic on your hearing if you don’t want him to, and he will NEVER ask anyways, he doesn’t think you have a problem that should be fixed.NadiaAt first it’s hard for her not to try to baby you about everything the first time she knows about it. She also brings the best doctors in to see if anything can be done about your hearing. She doesn’t understand that you don’t need that in her haste to make things as easy for you as possible.But at one point you just need it to stop and put your foot down. After realising she’s crossed a line in her immense love for you she stops, apologises, and promises she will never do something like that again. After that hiccup on the road, she will start to ask you about sign language, hire a private tutor so she and the rest of the staff (including Portia) can learn as well recognising this is a better way for you to feel comfortable around the palace and be safe, too. If you’re non verbal, even though she knows you can’t hear it she will install a loud bell in every room of the library so you can call for help or assistance if you need it and there’s no staff with you. If you’re verbal there will be a couple of servants assigned to you, stationed outside or inside of any room you’re in in case you need assistance or help. She still tries not to baby you, but this is as good as she will get until she gets used to your deafness and how much you can accomplish with and in spite of it. It will take her time, it’s in her nature to be protective over the people she loves and to try to ease their existence, it stems from being a countess. Welllll its a long story and it’s super dramatic x_x we met in 2005 in freshman art 101 and he fell in love with me and I never returned the feelings even though he confessed etc and we were best friends the whole time. We spend like every day together for several years, both got into relationships with people that weren’t each other even though we were like attached at the hip.

It got to a point where I just didn’t know why I didn’t return his feelings, and we just kept hurting each other because if you spend too long in a situation like that things just get bitter and kind of strained you know?? I would get possessive and weird when he showed romantic interest in others, he would DEFINITELY get possessive and weird when I dated others, and I was even engaged for a bit to someone else (in like 2012) and during that and from then on we were long distance…..”friends”. Texted a lot etc….A year and a half ago or so, while he was dating the person he’s engaged to now, he was also still flirting and stuff with me. I’m not proud of it but I didn’t stop it bc I wanted my friend back, even while I kept telling him to stop because of his gf. He and the girlfriend broke up like twice because of me even though I was like 300 miles away. One night of verY POOR JUDGEMENT i said basically ‘you know what maybe we should try dating’ and he basically had enough. Snapped, said he couldn’t talk to me ever again bc too much history and he can’t keep getting his feelings yanked around by me etc. He was right i think. maybe. but I didn’t listen I kept trying to talk. It worked for a bit. 

Until he and the gf broke up yet AGAIN because she found pics of me in his phone and she gave him an ultimatum for the upcoming new year (this year). They get back together if he never talks to me again. And he hasn’t since december 31st. 12 years of history and friendship just gone. By then I just accepted it but the time he tried to stop talking to me before (spring last year?) I felt like he threw me away and I was super upset for months but trying to convey that to him just made it worse??

TL;DR 

Friendzoning demolished 13 years of friendship and it sucks hardcore and never got resolved bc I’m pretty sure he really won’t ever talk to me again and he blocked me on all social media soon as he saw I got into a relationship in january :\ :\
