a lot of people say "imagine if tawog was an adult tv show!!!" and to that i say it wouldn't be as funny. they HAD to get creative to make a comedy sitcom with genuinely good jokes but they couldn't directly say the word "dead." like that's why it's so funny they had to actually come up with jokes and not just make a pop culture reference within a sex joke and call it a day.

I know you probably didn't think about it that deeply but prison abolition is a flawed aspiration. It's better that Trump is imprisoned. There's no societal reasons for why he's shitty, he's just like that. There's tons of other people who are also just shitty and deserve to be in prison, there's no hope for rehabilitating them, they have to do it themselves.
hi friend !
quite simply, we (here in America) need less people in prisons ! it's a system that is clearly biased against people that are poor and/or minorities, as well as people who need therapy and treatment. the reason is oftentimes for drug-related issues, whether actual or alleged (1 in 5 people). people can be waiting in prisons for ages before their trial, even if innocent. did you know there's around 44,000 people in California prisons/jails that have been there for over 3 years without having their trial ?? being in prison for any duration puts biases and limitations on you, often causing you to lose your job, make it harder to get a new one; you can fail to pay house and car payments, whether by inability to pay them during imprisonment or simply being unable to pay because you're not making money. they can't vote. while you're in prison you're often subjected to labour that is essentially modern slave labour. the conditions are also horrible, have you seen John Oliver's coverage of the heat and conditions of Texas prisons, for one small example ??
Tumblr media
the current system is based on punishment, not recovery. the goal should be to deter future crimes and get someone back into society to function as a human being. as it stands, around 44% of people go back to prison within the first year of being out. this does not speak to a system designed to help people change and rejoin society.
people commit crimes, and while we can argue all day over whether and for how long they should be punished for, hopefully we can agree that they need help ? people don't magically reform themselves often, and surely not in that environment -- they need therapy, medication, outside help. there are people who should not be reintroduced to society, I can agree with that -- i'm not saying that all prisons and jails should open their doors and never function again. but people that commit minor offenses, people that are innocent and haven't faced their trial, people who need medication and therapy and have been struggling without, should not have to deal with this. it's so evidently a tool to repress, and that's without even reaching into the bag of worms that is the US police. "just don't do any crimes then" isn't good enough, I need you to think of how little it takes for a person to be falsely accused and spend years of their life in prison/jail before seeing a trial. prisoners are human beings.
and yes, I would love to see Trump spend some time in a cell. but he's white and rich (?) so I wouldn't count on it. it's not a tool designed to punish him.

hey can we stop dehumanizing people who have done bad things? like is that a thing we can collectively stop doing? i genuinely do not give a fuck how terrible someone is, treating ANYONE as subhuman or undeserving of life is immoral and disgusting.
and while im thinking of it, can we also stop labeling anyone who does something wrong on the internet as a sociopath or psychopath? can we stop applying labels that stigmatize and demonize mental disorders? can we stop acting like people with certain disorders or symptoms are evil and disgusting? like if you're someone who claims to be positive towards mental health and the mentally ill but still think people with NPD, ASPD, etc. are evil and morally wrong for having those disorders you're being ableist.
the way people treat individuals with ANY disorder that can have symptoms that are "scary" or "gross" is downright terrible. dissociative disorders and disorders that cause psychosis are constantly painted as scary or evil or inherently dangerous. cluster B disorders get treated in a very similar way. this demonization of mental disorders and dehumanization of the mentally ill has been perpetuated over and over and over and over again by people being either unknowingly or purposely ableist and by media like youtube where every single creator who does something wrong is labeled a narcissist or a psychopath or a sociopath or having no empathy or emotionless
it is RIDICULOUS to me that so many people just cannot seem to comprehend that people with disorders are PEOPLE. that people who do bad things are PEOPLE. people who have disorders and do bad things are PEOPLE. treating the mentally ill like animals and treating people who do immoral things like demons gets us literally nowhere. all it does is hurt people, whether they be innocent or not.
and dont even fucking start with the "well people who arent innocent deserve it" bullshit because THAT DOESNT MATTER. i do not give a FUCK if someone "had it coming" or whatever, because guess what???? i think hurting people is a bad thing!! we SHOULD expect accountability from those who have harmed others, but harming someone back isnt doing that! you cant tell someone to take accountability for the stones they threw when you're throwing stones back! you CANNOT expect someone getting attacked and barraged from all sides to just put their hands up and take it, that isnt how this works and is honestly a TERRIBLE thing to encourage.
i understand that people can be vindictive and cruel and unwilling to change their behavior but just doing the same thing back, just being vindictive and hateful back to them, it doesnt fix anything. treating someone terribly because they did the same thing doesnt fix anything. all it does is create more people who have been hurt. it will never, and i mean NEVER, be justified to do cruel things to another person. there isnt a thing on this earth that will convince me that violence and revenge is a reasonable response to "crimes" that pretty much everyone has committed. being a bad friend or partner, being shitty to someone, harming others, literally none of it is fixed by doing it back.
instead of punishment and dehumanization and ableism and discrimination of any variety, just condemn their actions or block them or report them or anything that isn't just throwing a bigger stone.

I want everybody who’s calling Ken a Trophy Husband to know that he’s actually a Trophy Boyfriend, because when Ruth Handler invented Ken in the 1960s, she was adamant that he would never marry her and instead be her “handsome steady”, so that Barbie remained a figure of independence for the little girls and was never put in the position of housewife.
Her house is hers. She bought it and furnished it with money she made in her own job. In STEM, in politics, in healthcare, in fashion, in academy, in customer service. Her credit card is in her name (women in the US couldn’t have their own regardless of marital status until 1974). And it’s all pink and fashionable because femininity and badassness aren’t mutually exclusive. No matter who you are, you can be anything.
That’s why Barbie’s slogan is “you can be anything”. Teaching these ideals to little girls is why Barbie was created. Empowering women and empowering femininity is the original meaning of the Barbie doll. It’s not that you have to be all this to be a woman, but if you are all or some of this, you too are awesome.
And somehow pop culture deliberately changed that narrative. Sexualised, bimbofied, and villainised her, when she actually isn’t responsible for the impossible beauty standards — people are, she’s just a stylised, not-to-scale toy like most others.
Men are frothing because he’s just Ken and I guess they were expecting her to be just Barbie, but that’s exactly what Ken is. Canonically. A badass woman’s himbo boyfriend.
This movie has the potential to radically change the way we collectively see Barbie into what Ruth Handler originally intended, I’m so very excited

Spoilers for the Dear Evan Hansen novel and there's some vague discussion of suicide, be warned
Connor and Miguel's relationship is something I desperately wish we had in the musical. We get to see a glimpse into the actual one friend Connor had while watching Evan drown in his lies and it just makes it hurt that much more that everything Evan is saying is something Connor had/could have had in another world. Miguel truly tried to get close to Connor, Connor got kicked out of school for Miguel, but as soon as it came to Miguel asking Connor to let him in, to be real with him, that's where the line was drawn. "Every good thing turned bad" almost becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy as Connor runs from the idea of being vulnerable, he's scared Miguel won't like who he is. Connor knows what he's doing but as he says, he's powerless to stop it. I feel like in the musical (don't get me wrong, the character of Connor was well done by the actors, at least the ones I've seen, especially Mike Faist) we don't get to see enough of who Connor was, and that kind of makes him feel less real in my opinion. We see him mostly through the eyes of Evans conscious, and while that builds a parallel between them and their struggles, a few scenes of the real Connor would have made it that much more real (for lack of a better term).
I feel like they missed an opportunity to make the friends of those who've committed feel seen and less alone. I'm not gonna get too into it, but Miguel and Connor's experiences in the book really resonated strongly with me in ways the musical never did, and I understand that the book came after the musical and there's only only much you can fit into a stage show, but I do feel an opportunity was missed.
I'm sorry, this is reallyall over the place, but I just had some feelings on that and I wanted to talk about my favourite characters from the book

anadius has made it so so easy and safe for people to obtain ts4 and all of its packs without paying for them and i really wish more people knew about this bc the only way to get EA to pay attention to the terrible state of the game is to literally stop giving them money, 🏴‍☠️ the packs to keep playing the game u enjoy but know they only care about appeasing their shareholders/investors/whatever they are and they're all driven by money and have very little interest in the playable state of the game in terms of bugs and features unless the game is so broken that people are actively demanding refunds in mass or just not buying the packs at all.

Keferon. Please read Ninth by Kyn on AO3. I think you would love it very much. It has a large chapter count, but don't be intimidated, it's very easy to get into. It is currently unfinished, but is being updated regularly.
You are the seventh person that recommended this fic to me so ahahahaha yeah
I’m doing great Help I hate some parts of it but I love the other parts I’m spinning in the blender
…..I made the moodboard….
Tumblr media
#chapter 37#of 120 or something#I must be like 90k words in haha#large word count is not an intimidation. It’s an invitation haha#I love the fics that I can’t read in just one hour:)#I gotta say I don’t enjoy the concept of making robots into organic life#it’s just my preference#seeing them as humans or animals or whatever feels so fucking wrong#the concept itself drives me off#like. Strongly#But at the same time. This fic isn’t about them being ‘haha cute organics’#it’s ‘oh god. I was turned into something I’m not’#instead of teeheee they’re fluffy#it’s please free me from this fucking nightmare. please let me be myself again.#idk how to explain. I resonate I guess#it often feels very disturbing but the characters are also disturbed#So now I’m kind of stuck reading this fic because I just can’t stop lol#just politely skipping the parts that make me too uncomfortable#also#the body horror is….damn. Impressive. I didn’t expect to read about grotesque fleshy creature turning itself inside out#it’s not even aesthetic or symbolic#it literally looks like a fucking nightmare. Which is impressive also.#the flesh is g r o s s#the beginning got me struggling and skipping#but the intermission is currently ruining my sleep schedule#oh fuck….I usually send my posts to the authors of the fics I read…..but I feel like I might offend the author of Ninth if do this……..#there’s a tiny chance they’re following me….if it’s true then I wanna tell I’m sorry pls don’t take this seriously#your fic got me waay out of my comfort zone#huge points for writing Ratchet. Drift in this fic is…the grossest fucking thing I could probably imagine but Ratchet doesn’t even hesitate#he helps him and he cares for him. Which is…..imma be real my first instinct would be to set Drift on fire to end his misery

the "Jiaying was the monster all along" was so gross and heavy handed, I'm glad S7 did a bit of damage control but it's the one thing that drags S2 down for me even though it is my favorite season. That and how nobody at SHIELD cast doubts on Gonzales' objectivity when the man wanted to attack Afterlife the second he learned of its existence, called Daisy "thing" and wanted to keep her confined on base and ofc the whole Calderon incident. Like, seriously. Why is Coulson loving Daisy a problem but Gonzales denying the very humanity of the people they're supposed to find common ground with, is not?
Plus SHIELD at the time was a rogue organization yet they act as if this centuries old community (that had policed itself effectively since they had remained hidden and mostly unknown) should submit to their authority (what authority lol, you're terrorists to the public at large) and they're in the wrong if they don't want to. So offputting.
And I mean. SHIELD changed its "diplomatic" envoy without informing the other party, arrived on 3 combat jets with tac teams straight into the Inhumans' sanctuary, and considered the indexing a fait accompli. It wasn't a negotiation, they were dictating terms. The Inhumans would have been well within their rights to refuse and fight back, honestly.
Jiaying tricked them into it because the great majority of them were regular people who had no ill will and didn't want a war (which, again, shame on SHIELD for considering all of them threats a priori) but SHIELD's failures are so evident throughout the season and yet at the end it's all Jiaying's fault. A woman kidnapped and tortured by a nazi mad scientist with SHIELD's complicity (since it was Hydra within SHIELD who freed him and gave him the resources to do so), whose child SHIELD essentially stole. Bleah.
I loved S2 but I’ll go to my grave maintaining that making Jiaying the final villain was less of a natural narrative conclusion and more of a copout. BC apart from good ole Fitz, SHIELD was decidedly unheroic in the second half of the season with how they treated Daisy and other “gifted” and the writers wrote themselves into a corner and had to get themselves somehow - and did so in a way the entirely ignored the main point of S2
i kind of agree i think, but i love that entire story arc so much that its not really a huge problem for me, if that makes sense. the angst and the character development, and that they didnt cop out of making it so dark is something i really appreciated. too many shows just dont go to those places, and its important that big struggles and resilience through those struggles is visible in media, because it makes a big difference.
thats just my thoughts, but like i said i agree with you. the way a lot of stuff was resolved after season 2 was kinda meh, like how the entire other faction of shield was just absorbed into coulsons shield and it was never brought up again. like, weaver at least was still alive, wouldve been interesting to see how that played out.

the list of scenes i would very much like to see in a raven cycle tv series despite not wanting a book to screen adaptation grows to include henry pulling up to mountain view high in a ferrari to blue’s absolute horror and henry’s great enjoyment. henry then allowing, nay encouraging & Counting Down, her to publicly call him a bastard to maintain her mount high status as a anti-aglionby anti-establishment feminist who don’t need no man. only to have gansey apologetically pull up literal Moments later in his loud bright orange camero politely asking her to come with him that she just can’t say no to, which totally ruins her status as said anti-aglionby anti-establishment feminist who don’t need no man and instead labeling her a massive hypocrite. like i would pay good money to see that scene. it’s just so. perfectly cinematic.

Racism in F1 is so, so prevalent and normalized and I’m sick and tired of everyone saying ‘these conversations are SO important’ only to 1- go about them in the most reductive way possible, and 2- only accept these ‘conversations’ from WHITE people who water them down. These conversations are ugly. They aren’t meant to be palatable and presenting them that way just takes away from the weight of it all??
The racism in F1 is very deep-rooted. Listing every incident would necessitate its own post (and raise my blood pressure). We could talk about the abuse that Lewis Hamilton has received from the FIA, the media, and other drivers; the way Zhou Guanyu is spoken about generally; the way Yuki Tsunoda is CONSTANTLY painted as aggressive and receiving severe punishments while other drivers get away with being more aggressive and offensive; The way GP organizers played the Mexican hat dance instead of the national anthem for Pedro Rodríguez; and so on. My point is, racism has been integrated into and accepted in this sport since its inception, and that has cultivated a fanbase that also normalizes racism!!
Obviously, the governing body of the sport is racist, but so are your favorite drivers! I know it’s an uncomfortable truth, but the way some of you actively defend these actions is insane. I won’t give any examples lest I get accused of targeting anyone and dog-piled again (see: the barrage of racial slurs in my anon box lol).
Besides the drivers, some of YOU actively engage in racism. I am specifically speaking about the fandom here because this is something we can actually recognize and change. I received SEVENTY anon messages calling me various slurs after criticizing a driver, which I feel like I don’t need to explain why that was a deranged reaction. A creator was also recently under fire for excluding THREE hijabis specifically, which,,,, One is a coincidence. Three is intentional. The fact that the creator was comfortable doing this so blatantly, and that nobody around noticed, just goes to show how normalized all of this is.
A lot of the phrases that are commonly thrown around are also, frankly, rooted in xenophobia. One example is when hosting countries in the middle east and Asia as a whole are labeled as ‘human rights violators’ when the United States (which hosts THREE GPs) and the continent of Europe (which makes up the majority of the calendar!) are funding multiple genocides? Listen, I lean as left as left goes and it goes without saying that all of these countries have ethical issues, but why are the ones that are constantly highlighted somehow coincidentally the ones that aren’t in the west?
It isn’t enough to ‘have these conversations. Stop defending drivers who don’t deserve the defense. Stop regurgitating phrases without considering the implications of them. Stop engaging in active racism!!

I've seen a lot of posts since the Murder Mystery event of fans of QSMP very genuinely grieving, and I want the say that grief is a natural response and it's okay to feel it. Even about a Minecraft server. Even about fictional characters. Even ones that aren't gone. Even for hopes and dreams and expectations. Especially those. You can grieve any kind of loss, including change. It can feel silly, but it's real and it's not shameful to acknowledge it. Grief is a bitch so please be kind to yourselves.

Bungou Stray Dogs: Dead Apple and how “ability users” (opposite to “normal people”) learning to accept themselves through the acceptance of their own abilities is a queer metaphor of acceptance of own's sexual orientation and gender: an essay by me
#bsd#bungou stray dogs#About: Dead Apple. Watched this a while ago with a friend and it was a lot of fun!!!#If you're reading this: thank you so much for hanging out with me I had such a good time (ㅅ´ ˘ )♡#Next to general considerations: wow they were right that Bungou Stray Dogs movie sure can Bungou Stray Dogs#It's always nice to see the detailed animation and elaborate backgrounds of movies. The animation quality compared to the manga is–#definitely noticeable and it's nice to see. That said... I still like the season 2 art style more? And I'm speaking strictly of art style.#The s2 one looks more soft and smooth while the da one is so much more rough.#The plot is... Very bsd-esque I don't think there's anything to add.#In my opinion Kyouka's arc is the one that turned out best tbh. I really like her narrative development and personal growth in this movie.#I like the complexity of her state of mind. how full of contradiction she is. I especially appreciate the recurring small changes of–#expression that indicate how she thinks differently from Atsushi even if she doesn't voice them. The fight between her cynicism and her–#kind nature. It's all very interesting.#Atsushi's development is interesting too. Although all the open questions about his ability we still have kind of leave me frustrated#I don't feel very strongly about Akutagawa in this movie? I mean‚ he's there. The ss/kk scenes are always great and in character and a joy–#to witness no matter what they do. He just doesn't shine particularly? Or at least personally I dont find the “proving my strength against–#myself” narrative arc to be particularly interesting. Imo it was a lot better flashed out in the da stage play! With the complexity that–#the dialogues with Chuuya added to the character. Dazai attacking him. And especially Aktgw understanding that Rashomon wasn't testing Aktg#but rather only expressing that unstoppable rage that is also Aktgw's own. About that I checked out the play and I really liked it!!#I only watched highlights (aka: ss/kk and chuu/aku scenes) but there's some stuff I really like. I like the conflict between Aktgw and–#Chuuya and how Chuuya messes up with Aktgw at first maliciously and then amiably. It's interesting how Atsushi himself observes that Kyouka#and Akutagawa get along. And especially the sskk almost-handholding and Atsushi saying Akutagawa has a nice profile were cute akjdhbsawhjb#Next. Da really is shipping paradise (╥﹏╥) Sorry but... It is. oda/zai. daz/atsu. ss/kk. s/kk. fuku/mori. chuu/aku. It really has everythin#and the moments are so good!!!! What else. Wish we'd see more of Tsujimura. And Christie. And women in general tbh.#Also‚‚‚‚‚ Atsushi's tiger form in this movie is ATROCIOUS. I've said it before but it's crazy how a franchises that relies so heavily on–#fanservice came up with something this hideous. Man the movie overall was pretty but Atsushi sure wasn't. Firmly stand by the belief–#that only Akutagawa would find that form attractive.#Oh last note. honestly if we're ready to accept a movie where an antidote has effect AFTER the person has effectively died then we really–#can't complain about any kind of insanity the manga brings up#random rambles
