Thinking again about how many disabled people end up getting shunted into art/craft work because like. You can technically do it. Sometimes. Yeah you make a pittance at best and are almost certainly going to make your physical health worse by pushing yourself to get things done, but what else are you gonna do? You're too sick for anyone to hire you. You're "not sick enough" to qualify for benefits. Just devote every scrap of time and energy you have to a chronically underpaid, low-prestige, incredibly labor-intensive industry. A few people manage to make it work with luck and help and the right skills. Many people don't. Everyone gets pressured to monetize their hobbies, but it's especially insidious if you're disabled because any tiny thing you manage to accomplish to bring yourself joy gets twisted into proof that you should somehow be able to work.

#curseblogging #the thing is like #i went to bookbinding school #i saw what it was like to try to make a living as a craft worker for able-bodied people with significant starting resources #and the answer is: fucking hard!#people generally being like well if you work long hours and never allow yourself a break #and do a bunch of events and shows and teaching #and are good at not just the work but at finances and marketing and every other aspect of business management #(and ideally have a spouse with a regular job so you don't have to pay for your own healthcare. because this is America)#then maybe #MAYBE #you can make a reasonable living as a craftsperson #but this same VERY DIFFICULT PROFESSION #gets pushed on disabled people as something obvious and easy #and a lot of people do try their best to make it work because what other choice do they have?!

#been trying to figure out how to ‘discern God’s Will’ for years now #and think somethings finally starting to hit me #went through this phase where it was like I know God’s Will because he has Revealed it to me (wrong)#or at least like. it’s not like here is a prophetic dream of all your future and now you must make sure your decisions line up with that #<-not how it works #then I went through this phase like how can I make Any decision if I don’t know the exact decision God would have me make here? i don’t have #the roadmap how do I know which way to turn?#<-contrary to popular belief life is NOT a Highway #then I went through a phase like oh! i have to be ok not knowing and trust God! leave that all to him and just do the thing in front of me!#<-yes!! but also. still leaves me incapable of making decisions #but now I’m getting to this construct:#for trying to make decisions:#1. orient your desires toward pleasing God #ie. hm. what can I do to please God?#note: this means what can I do to *please God* as in what pleases him?#what kinds of things are good what does he like?#2. oh! he likes these kinds of things I know (from what he’s told us) so what can *I* do to please God #based on what my skills and passions and circumstances are #in my unique way how can I please God?#and then 3. pursue some of those things and let God close and open doors as he will #and work to be content which is much easier when your goal is just to please him! like a lover their beloved or a child their parent #cause if that doesn’t please Him then it’s contrary to your goal and you don’t mind losing it so much #*this is all in a case of open ended decisions especially #cause obviously if it’s a good choice or a bad choice you should do the right thing that’s God’s will #but when it’s like jobs or moves or spouses of restaurants or whatever #God’s not a fortune cookie! you can’t anticipate his providence and make it happen yourself!#he’s *providing* it as you go! unbeknownst to you generally!#anyways! that’s where I’m landing #what can I do to *please God*. what can *I* do to please God. what *can* I do to please God

LOLL ok so valen has 2 cars atm one of them is a jacked truck which i think is great for him bc he’s a terrible driver and it will help ppl avoid him and also not totally wreck his car if he hits a curb or something 💀 the other is a very sleek convertible cause yeah 💅🏻 they’re both absolutely custom made

Gideon I think is a mustang guy, there’s nothing very special about his car at first glance just a regular black paint job then bam! Sun hits and you realize the boring black is actually vinyl that changes color in the sun FKSKAJDK he’s very proud of it and the reactions it gets. His bike doesn’t have that coat but it do have accents which I think are the same color the sun vinyl changes to 🤔

I love karima I love her red mini cooper it holds sm great memories she also has red mirror dice to match it and cushions and everything else lol her car is really pretty on the inside but gets cluttered so fast, shaheen has a regular family suv he’s a dad of 4 he needs something to fit all of them in 😂 yazan also has a nice car but it’s not too flashy, he doesn’t decorate or do anything to it just lets the engine rev speak for itself lmaoo

Angie has a crappy Corolla I’m sorry lmaoo,, hyacinth has a monster truck and it’s honestly terrifying how big this thing is idek if it’s even legal to drive something like this on civilian roads
