Also have another “first words spoken to you are on your skin” soulmate AU idea where Kara is a journalist assigned to shadow the controversial CEO of L-Corp for the day. It’s a big deal for her to get this assignment, so of course she trips the second she’s near the other woman and tries awkwardly to redeem herself.

The CEO stares at her almost in shock, and then says nothing. At all. Ever, for the entire day.

Kara spends hours following Lena Luthor around trying to fill the silence, but no amount of questions get her to talk. Lena almost seems to be running away at some points - like she’s trying to lose her? - and the few times she’s managed to catch her actually talking to someone she goes silent the second she sees Kara.

She asks around if Miss Luthor is usually like this and everyone looks at her like she’s crazy. Apparently she’s the only one who gets the silent treatment. By the end of her first day shadowing she’s walking away with half a page of observations and not a single quote. Miss Grant is going to kill her.

But that’s okay. It’s fine, this isn’t over. She has four days of shadowing ahead of her and she’ll be damned if she doesn’t finish this with a quote from the woman herself. It’s only a matter of time.

Quick headcannon for our favourite little family. (Tsu'tey/Reader & Spider)

Tsu'tey, like the rest of his clan, is a professional weaver. He can make rugs, tapestries, baskets, anything you can think of. And he'll have it done in half the time you expect it to take. In comparison, Reader's skill equates to a teen learning for the very first time, how to make friendship bracelets with sewing thread instead of embroidery floss.

So of course, hilariously, Spider (age 4) decides to go to Reader out of both parents, and demand they teach him how to make jewellery. (Bonus points if Reader was already trying to make a piece for Tsu'tey and was near tears with how hard they were struggling).

And of course, like a good parent who does not want a scenario of the blind leading the blind, they suggest he waits for Tsu'tey to come home. To which Spider refuses, so they compromise with Reader showing him the basics (they can barely do it themselves) so that Tsu'tey can show him the more complicated stuff later. Unsurprisingly, Spider takes after Reader and can't weave for shit so the first attempt it laughable.

Tsu'tey doesn't seem to care though.

When he ducks into the compound, looking tired and content after a long day with the clan, he greets his mate and child with a warm smile and a hug. He has barely put down his bow before Spider is rushing up to him and brandishing his first weaving technique.

Of course, Tsu'tey looks at it with nothing but heart eyes.

<"For me?"> He asks, tail beginning to wag as Spider nods excitedly, toddling closer to push it into his Dad's hands, only for his little face to fall when he realises that the bracelet is WAY too small for Tsu'tey's big wrist.

Not missing a beat, Tsu'tey carefully plucks the bracelet from Spider's little hands and rolls it onto his second finger, before giving the fingers a wiggle. <"It fits perfectly, thank you my sweet."> He praises, bending to give Spider a raspberry to the forehead. Of course, Spider is immediately delighted and toddles off to go make MORE bracelets.

And like the proud father he is, Tsu'tey loves EVERYTHING Spider makes for him and I mean EVERYTHING! This man goes round decked out in brightly coloured jewellery with uneven beading and knot work, and he is PROUD to be seen in it all. He hoards Spider's projects like a human parent hoards drawings on the kitchen fridge.

And even years later, when Spider has significantly improved and is making pieces that rival all the other kids his age, Tsu'tey keeps everything his boy ever made him. Spider once demanded he remove all the shitty bracelets and burn them, looking embarrassed as he pressed a new piece into Tsu'tey's hands.

Of course, the new piece simply got added to Tsu'tey's attire, and he reluctantly removed the older pieces upon Spider's request, but kept them safely stored with his other possessions. What Spider doesn't know however, is that he keeps the very first bracelet/ring, hidden under his forearm guard, secured tightly with an additional leather strap so it will never go missing.

Every single one of them can count on two hands or less how many bones they haven’t broken, and they can count on even less how many joints they have dislocated, and don’t even get me started on sprains

Point is, the Batfam haven’t exactly taken a lot of care with their very fragile human bodies over the years of vigilantism

You know what makes old scars burn and old breaks ache, and what makes every sprained stretched muscle tight

The cold

So Bruce, and all of his kids legal and not, fucking hate winter, they hate the cold, because it makes everything tighter, every warm up take a little longer, everything hurt just a little more

Of course you wouldn’t know it, with Dick striking poses that would make professional contortionists cry, or Cass landing perfect flip kicks, or Steph and duke giving each other massages, or Damian doing yoga, or Jason hitting pads with Bruce, or even Tim running through a cardio workout that puts the JL to shame

They would never show that pain, that weakness, to anyone else, because some villains would target those potential pain points if they ever saw even a hint of them, but more than that, because they have to be strong, for their teams, for each other, for the entire world

So you may never know that Dick spent an hour stretching out his left shoulder this morning, the first dislocation he ever go on patrol

Or that Cass is practicing flip kicks because he knees are killing her but she needs to know that they won’t be a hindrance

Or that Steph and Duke are giving each other pre workout massages because they’re covered in knots that make moving hard

Or that Damian is doing yoga because it helps with the imagined cold and real pain from having metal in your spine

Or that Jason’s broken fists sting with each hit

Or that Bruce is wearing a back brace today because his broken spine was killing him this morning

Or that Tim is doing cardio because the cold makes breathing a little harder so he has to be prepared

You’ll never know how much pain they’re in, not in the field when they broke their ribs and are coughing up blood, certainly not when they’re training the pain of the cold away

Because that’s what they do, they keep training, until it doesn’t hurt, or until they know for a fact that it doesn’t matter if it does

The Bats hate the cold, but they’ll be damned if they ever let it stop them

lucanis truly has a near terminal case of burned out golden child syndrome. caterina fucked both of these kids over so incredibly bad with the dynamic she enforced there, with illario being labled the perpetual fuckup kid where lucanis 'could do no (would never be allowed to do) wrong'. the way he admits in the first coffee date scene that the only thing that happened when he showed he could carry the weight of expectation was that more weight was added makes me so sad. you can hear it in caterina's voice in his intro mission that she's incredibly proud of him, but this is clearly a leandra and hawke situation where that pride never translates into relief or resolution or unconditional warmth or understanding or anything that really helps.

What was Dove's, Wukong's, and everyone else's reaction to Dove being pregnant with Mengtao?? Where there fights over who would be the favorite uncle? A betting pool of what the baby's gender was going to be??

Oh, everyone was celebrating. Wukong?? He was on cloud 9, announcing it to the heavens, the kings in the underworld, the dragon kings– he made sure the world knew he had an heir on the way. The only people he didn't tell himself were Guan Yin and Moksa, since he knew Dove would want to share that herself. Not only does he get to spend the rest of his life with the woman he loves, but now he'll get to spend it with their child as well??? He definitely cried when he got the news, and when his precious girl was finally born. Well, he cried after laughing for a bit when she shot those lasers out of her eyes. That was definitely his kid.

I think it'd be funny to imagine how each of the pilgrims would be like around Mengtao. Trip would totally miss the mark on how much a toddler can process and try giving her these life lessons that leave her giving him this blank look and have Dove and Wukong side eyeing each other.

Pigsy, Sandy and Moksa would definitely fight over the title of 'favourite uncle', they'd be the ones on opposite corners of the room cooing and calling for Mengtao to crawl over to them. Tripitaka won't participate in that because he already knows he's the favourite (shhh let him live in his delusions). Little do they all know, her favourite uncle is obviously the one that turns into a whole ass dragon. I can see her giggling and playing with his lil dragon-moustache, trying to say "Uncle Lie" but instead just going "Uncle LiLi"

That being said, it would take most of the uncles working together to babysit her for just a day. Mengtao is 100% a lot to handle, especially when her parents aren't there and she's left to cause chaos that would make her father proud.

Dove herself?? A ball of nerves during her pregnancy. She was thrilled that she was having a baby, she just wanted to be sure she'd be a good enough mother. I won't say much for spoilers sake, but she didn't know her own birth mother growing up. The closest thing to a maternal figure in her life was Guan Yin, and the two of them had some… altercations during the later parts of the journey. Wukong was there to reassure her that she would be an amazing mother. He reminded her how well she handled other children in the past, how much Red Boy loved her– heck, seeing how she was with the younger monkeys on Flower Fruit Mountain is what made him want to put a–!

Actually, he might get a playful slap on the arm for that last comment.

But even when he'd say stuff like that, it helped to calm her nerves. When Mengtao was finally born, it was one of the happiest days of her life. After losing her first family, and then her friends before the journey, the fact that she was able to start a family of her own with Wukong and all their loved ones there to support her? It was perfect.

Their favorite delicacy when they choose to partake. This becomes a problem when Jaskier has a hurt foot and Geralt takes him to a medic. A vampire, whether the medic, the medic's assistant, or just someone lurking outside who caught a whiff of the blood, is like "Jackpot!" and tells all his little vampire friends, and now they're hosting a big feast just to drain this guy. But it's such a delicacy, the vampire decides maybe they should only drain him a little, so he can keep the human around, so the human can regain his blood, and they can drink from him AGAIN! Oh yes, marvelous! He throws the best parties! Jaskier wakes up with a horrible headache.
