I really want to do something vastly different with Mad Hatter, but it's really hard to nail down exactly what defines him as a character and his motivations due to how heavily he's used as just a simple gimmick for a mind control story. Even the whole "kidnapping girls to be his Alice" isn't even part of his original motivations when he was first introduced! I don't mind it as a motivation, but I think at this point DC just uses it as a way to write the most sleazy grimdark shit imaginable and I'm honestly at the point where I want something entirely different with him. The dude barely has any backstory in anything outside of BTAS and Gotham, with the latter still pulling from the overused "Sexual Predator" angle and I'm just so tired.

Like, you can certainly do really dark and creepy content with mind-control without resorting to shock value! You can absolutely go into the inherent horror of being unable to stop yourself from being used as a simple tool for someone else to use and discard! The kidnapping girls to be his Alice angle isn't inherently bad writing, but I'm tired of it being his only motivation! Hell, you can even go really into the whole aspect of why Jervis is so focused on his Lewis Carroll fantasy and how it meshes with his mind control gimmick! You could go into a character gimmick of someone becoming so focused on their wish fulfillment fantasy that they drag others into it by force to play their part for him! If Jervis sees himself as playing the role of the Mad Hatter in his fantasy, maybe his mind control gimmick could be used as a way of making people play the part in the story if they don't act like how he wants them to. There's just so many potential ideas you could really do with Tetch as a character, but instead he's been stuck in the same old song and dance routine for the past few decades!

I am all for separating art from the artist no matter how much this phrase has been clowned on but u need to actually do that - stop engaging with their works in ways that gives them money if they are still alive and resort to piracy and such + stop defending and worshipping them like some teenager. But the way fandom goofies talk about 'oh u expect me, a little baby to drop my netflix showww my special interest?? Ill kill myself. Remember ur valid if ur x fandom!!' right after they find out about something fucked up is so damn pathetic and you know they'll defend the person in question in 5 minutes using dumbest arguments ever. How are u saying you'll continue worshipping ur blorbo no matter what and then get preachy and moralizing about 'ohhh u want me a little autistic bean to kill myself? I need to run a stupid fandom blog and talk about my blorbos 24/7 or else i'll die' ok fucking kill yourself then. Its one thing to just watch a movie or read a book and another to do all this whole 'fandom' crap about it and worshipping writers or whoever like they are gods and could never do anything wrong

Beyond weird to me when people act like little/syskids/child alters/whatever you want to call them can’t be that in conjunction with like… literally any system role.

There’s some really weird misconceptions that those alters are all uwu softbeans and that’s really not the case, and yeah, treat them with kindness and stuff, but don’t like. Assume every child alter like being treated like a squishy helpless precious baby.

Same with autistic people like I get that we want to fight Autism Speaks Narrative of us as a bunch of emotionless monsters but I think we sometimes go so hard in the opposite direction that we end up infantilizing ourselves. Every time I see a what Hollywood portrays autistic people as versus what they're actually like post seems to portray us all As uwu softbeans who just don't want to hurt anybody. We pairing our doctor beans, her gorl, Arlene Nekrotisch, and my boi, Gérard Alaphilippe. She’s his ambitious, sweet and caring assistant, while suprise, surprise, he be her wicked, sinister and crazy supervisor/boss. It’s a fairly old ship by now, but they just grow on me as the days pass by.
