hey you guys remember that one star wars movie? ya know, the one where the ugly ass old guy started convincing his followers that innocent people were villains and recruited a dumbass young dude to join him? oh yeah, and didn't he also have something that really wasn't all that bad happen but he blew it way out of proportion (and killed the guy who did it mind you) and gave some big speech about how it only made him more determined? wait what about that one part where he got his followers to kill and harass countless innocents because he simply didn't agree with them and perceived them as a threat?

Can I let my inner Star Wars nerd out for a second? Ok, cool.

The empire rose to power because of the Jedi's negligence to take action against the Sith's presence. They stuck to their rules to fight people who constantly broke them and didn't listen to the people who begged them to act. Instead, they sat on their high horse and remained complacent with the excuse of keeping their morals while ignoring the growing Sith presence even when there were definitive signs that the dark side was growing.

Furthermore, the Emperor used the Separatist conflict as a tool for not only his rise to power but as a distraction to slowly infiltrate the Republic with his followers and gather the support of the public. And as soon as the Empire was created, what happened? That conflict, gone. The Jedi, gone. He used the success of ending the Separatist conflict as a propaganda tool to place himself in a higher light, and the Jedi in a lower one.
