I saw your addition on the melting metal post, i was wondering how A/C electricity works, and how the energy transfers, is it like a newton’s cradle?

The short answer is that power is transferred in an AC circuit not by redistributing electrons from point A to point B, but by the electromagnetic fields produced by the movement of electrons in general. An electron moving back and forth still produces those fields due to its motion, even if "on average" it doesn't go anywhere.

To be a little more precise, current is defined as the charge crossing through a cross-sectional area per second. If an electron moves forward and backwards through that cross section, there is charge flowing through it, and so there are electronic fields being produced that a device can harness to do things. Many devices (for instance, an incandescent light bulb) don't particularly care if the fields change direction, so long as they exist. For devices that do care about the changing amplitude or direction of the current, we convert AC to DC using a rectifier.

In an intuitive sense, you can think of it kind of like a hand saw. The saw just moves back and forth, so it's not going anywhere "on average". But the cutting is produced by the movement of the saw blade against the material, so it cuts as long as there's movement in either direction.

He would become a Bakeneko if Shockwave manages to kill him! Ironically this would make his power specialty more similar to Kitsune as Bakeneko are known to transform into humans. (Bakeneko is also an change a cat can become through old age because things just happen to old cats). So Shockwave would be disappointed for a moment before realizing this is still an opportunity to use his experience to teach the newly made yokai.

If killing Bumblebee DID make him a Nekomata Shockwave would be insufferable about it. He loves seeing himself in Bumblebee and would try to force him to kill and eat humans, y'know like all kits need to learn.

This ask also made me think about this au too much and now the team is here. The plot would generally be that they're cats who protect humans from yokai and they live with Sari at her family shrine which is where Bumblebee and Bulk escapes to after getting away from Shockwave. Yes Ratchet is a Nekomata he is an old old kitty who thinks about the War often. He teaches Bumblebee what it actually means to be a magical cat and clears up that if Shockwave kills him it will with 90% surety make him dead dead.

Sari can also talk with cats. We're not worrying about that.

For some reason, I was always under the impression that Machete (through various misfortunes and happenstance) just sort of... BECAME a priest - I wasn't aware that be actually WANTED to be one :0 what was his reasoning for that line of work? I mean, I guess growing up in and around the church might foster an interest, but...?

Well, priests were held in extremely high regard at the time. Apart from nobility who had the benefit of proper education, they were usually the only people who were literate, and being able to read was a massive advantage. Social classes were extremely rigid, if you were born a peasant you died a peasant and so on. But if you managed to join the clergy, had luck on your side and didn't do abysmal job, you might be able to ascend to a higher status, accumulate more wealth and live reasonably comfortably regardless of your origins (to my understanding the main reason people didn't choose this path to escape poverty and hardship was because of the literacy requirement. I've read that some village priests could only write their name and memorized everything else, but for the most part you had to be able to write, read and speak at least passable Latin). Committing crimes against men of God was a severe offence, more so than regular laypeople, and (at leasts in some eras and places) priests themselves couldn't be tried in regular courts and had their own ecclesiastical courts instead, all of this made clergy kind of a protected class.

Machete spent his early childhood in a monastery, after his parents left him there (he was sickly and his family was stretched thin and couldn't care for him anymore. Before orphanages monasteries sometimes housed orphans and foundlings until they were old enough to be apprenticed). He grew up in a strongly religious environment so a certain sense of spirituality and fear of God was ingrained in him from early age. He was a quiet, meek, punctual and polite kid, and because he didn't like to play outside and was so well behaved, he was allowed inside the scriptorium and the library. He was inquisitive and very fascinated by books so the monks taught him to read, and when they commented he'd make a good priest he was instantly entranced with the idea. He wasn't interested in preaching, but if there was a chance he could be safe and respected, even regarded as holy, he felt he had to do everything in his power to attain that. Sure he was sort of guided and trained towards that goal all along, but he also genuinely thought it was something that would give his existence meaning and significance, after being discarded by his birth family and feeling vague worthlessness and lack of belonging ever since.

Yes to ballet Russia! I mean come on, some of the most famous ballets are Russian! Although, I feel like he doesn't dance much in modern times so he's probably a bit rusty. I think Russia's dancing style is very dynamic with his turns and leaps, but is really focused on athletic techniques that will impress. He can also balance himself really well.

France is more delicate in his moves. He's not about showing off, and he's more focused on having a graceful flow. He dances like he's lighter than air, and he's quite flexible, so he has a wave-like movement.

The Swan Lake theme works well as Russia's ringtone, though I think 'Dance of the Little Swans' would be funny as an alarm. Imagine him getting out of bed and ready on tempo lmao.

how do you feel about om! ending?

lololol frankly i think it should have ended a long time ago...

its obvious that i haven't really interacted with obey me in a long time and honestly it's because i didn't care for where the story went. not only do i not like nightbringer and thought it was a poor choice from the beginning, i also think the main story didn't need as many seasons as it got, especially because the characters got assassinated and flanderized, story lines were messy, dropped, or irrelevant, and overall, it was just never as interesting as the original story arc.

it's easy to point out flaws in each season, including season one, but at least it had heart and intention. season two has merit to me simply because i think the human realm part was interesting, but overall, i think it peaked in the original 20 lessons and just kind of tapered off from there. there are some exceptions where things got interesting again, like the addition of thirteen, mephisto, and raphael, but overall, i much preferred the limited story we were originally given.

i think also the limited gameplay mechanics really harmed the game in the long run (hence why they kept adding things and even made completely new ones in nightbringer), but as an og player (seriously, og, i began playing it the month it was released) it got boring. another part of being an og is that it was frustrating watching the devs get greedy especially as quality plateaued (or even went down) and players concerns (like the racism and whitewashing) weren't addressed well

additionally, as the story went on, i lost interest in the characters because they weren't developed in any meaningful way. i've stated before that the characters i write for are almost separate entities from the canon ones and that's because i based them off of the original season one versions and they've changed soooo much since then, especially considering nightbringer (but also i didn't play nightbringer so i could totally be talking out of my ass but i feel like the premise itself inherently changes the characters since it's a different version of the ones we know and love from the og game)

it may seem like i'm being a little harsh, and honestly i am since i do have a genuine love for the game even if a lot of my passion has faded, but i'm very very bitter about where the game went and greatly mourn what we could have gotten if things were different. i still am fond of the original arc and characters but so much time has passed since then and so much has changed with the game and the fandom that i don't think i'll ever love it like i used to. anyway rant over, mammon is the loml, and it's touching to see so many current fans mourn the game because i love that people still love it and see so much magic in it <3

ok fascinating question. i wouldn't say i headcanon any of the characters as Literally Catholic (though i do love when ppl draw c!tommy with a huge dangly crucifix, it's hilarious) but i also don't think it's a stretch to say the dsmp is a very religious storyworld in a lot of ways. we're meant to understand that a number of characters are either gods, believed to be gods, god-adjacent, are acting on behalf of a god, or have been granted divine powers in some sense. i actually looked this up just now and found this list on the wiki, and while i don't personally 100% agree with some of these characters being Literal Gods, i do think the fact that the audience and characters are even discussing whether a given character "counts as a god" indicates that religion is.....kinda fundamentally baked into the world of the story??

as for c!dream specifically, I've always seen him as...maybe not necessarily a religious character, but at the very least a character who has religion happen to him. we don't really get much of an indication of what his beliefs are at the beginning of the story, and we certainly don't get any insight into what beliefs he might've been raised with growing up (dsmp is a very "present" story and i'm sooo grateful for that), but regardless, by the final arcs of the story he has been made the subject of divine intervention. he has a book that belongs to, or was created by a god. a god wears his face. etc. (if you wanna get real nitpicky about it, i don't think we can say "his sister is a god" because i don't think anyone actually says that in canon, including drista herself, but personally i always loved that bit of fanlore so it's canon To Me lmfao.) honestly, i think the best evidence that dream is religious even in the earlier arcs of the story is the fact that dream co-founds church prime — especially this stream from november 2020 where he invites tubbo to pray with him inside the church before they go to war against each other. dream kills tubbo immediately after the two of them step outside the holy land, but he clearly respects the church as a sanctuary and upholds it as such (when cc!tubbo uploaded the VOD he cut the first hour, including this interaction, but the entire thing was recorded and archived so you can still watch it.)

to answer your Actual Question — when i wrote that line i was thinking about how many relics historically were purported body parts of saints. so the word "relic" came to mind when i was figuring out how to describe a scene where someone basically steals a body part and hides it away for a divine purpose, i.e. a resurrection ritual. i didn't really put any more thought into it than that, but i do think it's fun to imagine the religious parts of c!dream's inner life, especially during his incarceration. "god appears to you in your time of greatest torment wearing your face" goes hard obviously, and it also genuinely sounds like it could be part of a lot of historical martyrdom tales.

so like. there's a lot there! i know a lot of folks find the religious headcanons annoying, which i understand, but you can't deny...there's A Lot There lmfao

Yes! He is genuinely interested in Stanley and loves him very very much :]

In my experience, Delusions (like a lot of psychological phenomenon) does have a basis on something concrete. Like, paranoid delusions are often time fueled by actual scary facts, or by pervious experiences. For example, a Paranoid Delusional moment I had was based on the fact that I'm visibly trans and that people who look like me tend to face violence. Even though the town I was living at the time was genuinely really kind and accepting, I still genuinely believed that everyone I encountered was going to murder me in one way or another. Even if I had piles of IRL experiences proving me wrong in that belief.

I have similar experiences when it comes to my obsessive traits. The attraction or genuine sense of love does exist outside of the obsessive state, just when inside the delusional/obsessive mindset it becomes twisted and unhealthy. You become more distressed easily when the object of your affection spends time with other people, you become codependent (making your entire identity based on the object of your affection), and even have panic attacks related to the relationship if you feel like it's falling apart. For Ford, the delusional part comes in when it comes to understanding the reality of the relationship between him and Stan. The emotions are real, the desire is real, the obsessiveness is real, but the actual relationship Ford created in his head is not. That's the disconnect of reality, that's the misstep he takes. So it's sort of like this Reality: Ford has a unrequited love for Stan. This love manifests as Romantic and Sexual attraction and a deep sense of wanting to care for and be there for Stan. Stan cares for and loves him very much as well, but not in the same way. They both care for each other and enjoy each other's company and closeness, but just in different ways. Ford's Delusion: Stan and Him have been actively together since childhood, planning on being Married (or already are married depending on the part in the timeline) at some point or another. They are planning their wedding together. Ford and Stan have had sex and Ford knows how to please him in every way that matters. Ford is the only thing Stan needs. No one loves Stan like Ford does. Ford is Stan's soulmate. Stan loves Ford the same way. They're going to be together forever. I also want to mention that Delusional thinking is much more like a gradient rather then a Black and White sort of feeling. There are times where you can be more aware of the delusion and can even name it while still engaging with it, and then there are times where you are COMPLETELY unaware that it is a delusion and straight up forget what the reality of a situation is. As well as you can be grounded and then be triggered into the delusion by an external source similar to Paranoia inducing things. So even though Ford's delusions are very specific and to the point, I would say more often then not he's sort of floating in a grey area where he is aware that this fundamental belief isn't really true but he isn't really fully grounded either. Like as an example, he knows factually he and Stan have never actually had sex, but in his heart they have. If that makes any sense.

so we know the jellybean designs are self-explanatory so lets go over the questioned heights of the anthro designs. the humanoid sprunkis are often drawn to be on par with the average human heights (some may be taller than others)

however they only look like they're on scale in the universe they're in. realistically, if the sprunkis were to be next to humans, they would maybe be at the size of a large dog at tallest

i guess their anthro designs could be 3ft on average but i still choose to make them smaller than that solely bc its comedic to think of the size difference from each race lol

Hmmm... Well the best thing would be to mix the two of these together and have a picnic date under the stars! Buut if I have to pick one then definitely picnic date :3 I've always wanted to go on a picnic but I never got the chance so it'd be amazing to go on one someday! Stargazing sounds a lil boring SORRY I mean if one of us were into astronomy it'd be pretty fun but if neither of us were then uhm..it'd just be kinda staring at stars xD maybe if we brought a telescope it'd be cooler but uh still--it'd be cute if something happened where likee maybe someone was gazing at the other instead of the stars! (hopeless romantic in me hehe) But unfortunately that mostly happens in fanfic... 💔 at least with picnic it feels like there's more eating and conversing xD HOWEVER.
