random question that you don’t have to have an answer to or want to answer in general: do you have any advice on becoming an at least somewhat popular blog about a certain fandom (specifically hlvrai but like. in general’s fine). i’ve been wanting to post more hlvrai art and textposts, and i know just consistently posting shit is how you gain more of a following, but i didn’t know if there’s any like. other specific ways to help get more popular or whatever. again, you don’t have to answer, i just thought i’d ask someone who might know better than me. also just wanted to say i adore your art, especially the way u draw benrey :)

oh god i would genuinely really like to help you but i honestly don’t know i think i just got really lucky 😭😭 i know everyone says it but i really did not expect to get this popular on both tumblr and twitter i didn’t even know there were this many hlvrai fans left. i can tryyyy and give you some advice but i’ll be pulling it all out of my ass so take it with a grain of salt (also i can’t speak on other fandoms because hlvrai is the only fandom i’ve ever posted art for)

for one i think i just got kind of lucky for when i started posting on this account because it was just a little before the hl2vrai announcement came out i was getting most of my engagement during that time period. consistent posts are definitely important though i think that matters a little less on tumblr than it does twitter because tumblr’s algorithm is entirely user-based. other than that i feel like i just draw a lot of what people want to see i guess? not that i’m trying to cater to an audience, that stuff just happens to also be the stuff that i want to see. redraws of stupid images or text posts as the hlvrai guys and tommy doing mundane shit are my favorite things to post i think people like that. speaking of tommy i think the fact that i like him so much as helped me grow LMFAO there’s nothing artificial about it i just really really like him i’m actually a lot more tame about him on my public socials. i’ve had friends, mutuals, and random people i don’t know tell me i’m number one tommy fan or something along those lines multiple times i think i’m kind of known for it

overall best advice i can give you is to draw what’s fun for you and not what you think will make you popular. i know lack of engagement can be discouraging but you will lose your passion to draw if you don’t draw what you want. be yourself and you’ll get the audience you want even if it’s small warmsmile emoji

I started learning the pre-chorus + chorus to Like Crazy and when I tell you it’s groovy as shit. Like damn. Though, if this doesn’t improve my hip-control, I genuinely have no idea what will 🤡

On another note, I’m meeting up with one of my friends on Monday! We’re going out for coffee and window shopping and I’m pretty excited because I haven’t seen her since the beginning of February of this year, and I’m excited to talk to her face to face (hah see what I did there ;))

I also did a little brainstorming for a story I’ve wanted to write since August of 2020, and I’m hoping it’s gonna help with my immense writers block concerning the idea itself lmfao

I was also wondering, but do you bake? I know it’s a pretty random question but a lot of my friends bake, and I’ve only ever baked once with one of said friends. We made chocolate muffins and, despite them being relatively messy, they actually tasted pretty good! I’m a bit sad we didn’t have chocolate chips though, I would’ve loved to take the famous(?) “you measure that shit with your heart” post as inspiration to make a mostly choc-chip choco muffin hehe.

Do you draw at all, either? I don’t draw much, and when I do I almost always draw exclusively doodles, but I’ve had a couple which came out pretty well. I drew this really tiny dragon a while ago (probably a few years back) which I thought came out pretty well hehet.

By the way, on a less random and softer note, I’ve been meaning to tell you but kept getting shy and insecure about how to say it, but I really appreciate you, you know? I know we don’t know each other super personally and everything, but our exchanges have been a consistent highlight to my everyday life since I’ve become your mutual.

Like, I can’t even begin to say how big of an impact you’ve had on me as a person just with a couple of our (admittedly short) interactions. Your posts brighten up my day, and I really love how full of love you are, and how you’re so unapologetically yourself. It’s really pushed me to become more comfortable in my own skin, which I couldn’t thank you enough for.

I know that probably went from zero (0) to one-hundred (100) real quick, lol, but I thought it was about time, you know? Sorry for putting something like this in an ask, I probably should’ve sent it in a PM but I thought, “I’m here, I might as well do it while I have the courage” 🥹

i do bake, but not as often as i used to? i kind of only do it when i’m home with my mom which is rare but will resume soon when i move back to my home state to be close again!! def prefer baking to cooking because there is some ridiculous disconnect in which i can do one fairly well but will burn the shit out of whatever meal i’m attempting and/or burn myself. i do not know why i am like this!!

i draw, but also not as often as i used to 🤪 like, i drew/designed all of my tattoos and used to be really into art, but my brain only lets me have 1-2 hobbies at a time, and this one fell by the wayside 🥲 rip art-phase jade.

YUJI ITADORI

he wasn’t even aware of who this guy was when he showed up at the door. [name] was in the living room, laying on the couch now on their own because yuji was with them before

when he sees what’s in their ex’s hands, he innocently tilted his head. “hello? i think you may have the wrong house…?” [name]’s ex isn’t even sure at this point with yuji’s confusion too

their ex clears his throat at this point and asks for [name], prompting yuji to realize that he definitely did not have the wrong house. “okay… we were watching a movie but i’ll get her for you real quick!” he’s a little oblivious to the fact that this was the ex

when they come over to the front door and see who was there, yuji knows something is up from the sour expression on their face. he may be an idiot, but he knew [name] well

“what the hell are you doing here?”

“y/n?” yuji would ask [name] before they explained who this exactly was. the boy knew that [name] had an ex that cheated on them, three times with different people, but he was not aware that this was the guy in front of them both until now

when he learned that this was that ex, yuji became defensive over [name]. he remembered how hurt they were when even thinking about it. “you should leave,” his face darkened

“you can’t tell me-” “you heard him,” [name] would interrupt their ex, “i’m spending time with my boyfriend so i suggest that you leave.”

the roses were thrown at their chest before they knew it and their ex began walking away, “whatever, you were a clingy bitch anyway.”

yuji genuinely gets angry at this and was ready to storm up to [name]’s ex until they held him back. the boy’s pouty even when [name] gets inside. “i love you lots, y/n.” “i love you too, yuji.”

MEGUMI FUSHIGURO

i love megumi… but he may scare off the guy with a single look. it’s not like megumi himself is scary looking, it’s just that he came from a mission recently and wanted to spend time with [name] (his non-sorcerer s/o) because they two have barely had time to hang out. this guy just ruined it

it’s [name] who originally answered the door to see their ex. the break up between them was his idea because they both barely had time to be with each other since he lived an hour away. it broke [name]’s heart, but they saw where he was coming from. it was sad but left no hatred

that was over a year and a half ago. [name] started dating megumi about ten months ago and it’s been going well. [name] knew him from middle school (which both [name] and their ex went to together)

so when megumi realizes [name]’s been taking a while, he goes to the front door and sees their ex. it takes him a moment but he recognizes him. [name] and megumi were in the same classes their last two years so he’s seen glimpses of their ex

“-to try again… i know it’s been so long but- fushiguro?”

[name]’s eyes widen when they turn around to see their current boyfriend behind them. this was an awkward situation knowing neither of them knew their relationships with [name]

the ex questioned, “your friends with fushiguro…?”

all he knew was the image megumi was in middle school. he was known for beating delinquents and piling them up in the parking lot. and all megumi thought was that [name]’s ex was a ‘close friend’ that they became distant with since he moved away

“yeah…” [name] muttered and megumi caught onto it. if he was going to be honest, them admitting to friendship offended him. was he not good enough despite [name] saying he was perfect? the reality was just that they didn’t want to make this any more awkward than it was

“i’m sorry [ex’s name], but i can’t accept the flowers and money,” you would look at the ground and megumi will soon realize what exactly was happening, “it’s too late.”

“ah, that’s fine then. it really is late, huh? at least take these as an apology for breaking up with you in the first place,” he holds out the roses and [name] hesitantly took them.

when he walks away and the door is shut, [name] places the roses on the kitchen table. they then look at megumi and see his sour expression

“megumi, i’m sorry,” [name] apologized, “i just… i don’t want him to feel bad or anything. he’s the type to feel guilty if he figures out he tried that while we’re dating.”

he looked at [name] in silence before sighing. they were just being kind, he thought. so he accepted their apology and apology hug

“i’ll make it up to you,” [name] would say as he glanced down at them, “is that so?” “mhm! just you watch.”
