anya deserved so much better
#mouthwashing#mouthwashing game#mouthwashing art#mouthwashing anya#ibon draws#cw eye strain#eye strain#just in case#massive trigger warning for people interested in the game 😭i myself had to just listen to a video summarizing it#because i don't do well with heavy games like that especially as a survivor and someone with cptsd myself#the way in which she was systematically failed and gaslit by the others even after the fact felt eerily similar to what i experience#'in the back of my mind it's always there' how it feels to have cptsd in the aftermath is so realistically depicted by anya- i can confirm#take care of yourselves ok <3 i wish us all healing and safety

louis + cruelty
#iwtvedit#iwtv#interview with the vampire#louis de pointe du lac#grace du pointe du lac#lestat de lioncourt#claudia#armand#daniel molloy#I WANT TO BE CLEAR THAT THIS GIFSET IS COMING FROM A PLACE OF DEEP LOVE. i love that louis has a little vicious streak.#that sometimes he goes for the lowest possible blow. it's an excellent character detail.#especially since he usually works so hard not to do harm and to be the best person he can. it makes him so much more realistic.#when he's backed into a corner he goes for the throat and i think that's an incredible facet to him.#i support his wrongs etc etc.#if i see people using this as a jumping off point to hate on louis i will probably just start blocking people tbh.#this is not an invitation to reduce him as a character to JUST this#i simply like it when he lets loose.

based on that one q&a... i'm a sucker for a pokemon crossover
#this is likely the first and last time i will ever EVER draw a digimon lol. i did it for you daisuke#eagle eyed viewers will notice i didnt draw jimmy. this is because i didnt want to#but also im convinced he wouldnt have a partner pokemon#i feel like hed think all the realistically obtainable ones were too lame or weak and would only settle for Mega Rayquaza#swansea to me is like the team rocket grunt whos Evil but has a crobat so youre like oh.. he also has a heart?!#like hes a jerk but his herdier loves him so maybe hes not that bad#mouthwashing#anya mouthwashing#curly mouthwashing#daisuke mouthwashing#swansea mouthwashing#mouthwashing game#pokemon#weregarurumon#digimon#glaceon#pikachu#herdier#digital art#koob art#procreate#illustration#1k#2k

semi related but its the same with animation vs live action tv
like that one time my friend saw me watch young justice and her take was: this is so unrealistic. i rather watch stuff from real life.
by which she meant greys anatomy, some german soap opera, and occasionally vampire diaries
people can be so weird about their double standards for fanfiction vs traditional fiction. once saw someone very seriously say that people who write fic for the terror are fucked up and need to stop because those were literally real people who died on the franklin expedition, but they were also completely fine with tv show the terror itself existing, despite the fact that it, too, is fiction about the literally real people who died on the franklin expedition. our blessed historical fiction vs their barbarous rpf.

i've noticed just how often achilles' dragging of hector's corpse is framed mostly as an act of extreme disrespect, or only some brutal show of triumph. personally i think that's underselling both achilles' intention and what the trojans must be thinking as they watch it happen.
hector's corpse is divinely protected so it can't be damaged by the greeks after death; all that effectively happens in the iliad is that his body gets dirty. but under normal circumstances (and i'm not gonna impose realism on mythology, but the iliad is famously detailed when it comes to bodily trauma), the physical reality of dragging a corpse along stony ground for miles would be severe disfigurement and dismemberment. first the skin would wear off, then soft tissues, then extremities would start to detach. i think the iliad's original audience would be aware of that as an intended outcome.
achilles (who doesn't yet know that hector's body has been granted divine stasis) doesn't just want to parade his enemy's corpse around, he wants to tear it apart ("i only wish that this fury inside my heart would drive me to carve you to pieces and eat your flesh raw..."), he wants it to not resemble a human anymore. he wants hector's blood and flesh to circle the city of troy. he wants to make it impossible for hector's family to gather the pieces of him to cremate and that way hector's spirit won't find passage into the underworld. that's what the gods are preventing from happening, they're not just keeping the corpse pretty for priam to pick up later.
#it's so rarely acknowledged academically and NEVER in adaptations (not even the '''''realistic'''' ones)#like you can see a billion artistic depictions of hector's corpse tied behind the chariot#but i think it's easy to forget what achilles is TRYING to do (and why failing to do so frustrates him so much)#AND why the sight of it would be especially horrific to hector's loved ones#anyway sorry for being gross and gruesome my excuse is that i'm an iliad nerd with a medical degree#i love hector he is precious to me i swear#the iliad#tagamemnon#gore cw#edited the opening to this post because my original wording was very glib about 'our' perception of violence

AU where Tim, age nine, walked three miles to his neighbor’s house, held up his bleeding hand to Alfred, and asked if he could please have a bandaid. He got stitches instead, and a hug from Dick, who squeezed him tight and asked, “Can we keep him?”
And then Tim never went home again.
He learns gymnastics with Dick and reads in the library with Jason. He shows Alfred how to reset the wifi and rambles on to Bruce about his latest obsession (shipwrecks), and he never sees his parents again.
Behind the scenes, there was a kid left alone in a mansion while a whole international incident played out. It included a kidnapping, a ransom, a failed hostage negotiation, and two dead parents never coming home.
It pokes at a wound in Bruce when he is told about the Drakes and he has always been productive in tragedy. He knows how to shove the hurt away and build something strong on top of it.
The adoption was seamless. The sell of the Drake Estate was effortless. The trust for Tim. The memorial. The scholarships in Jack and Janet’s names. Bruce does it all methodical and singleminded.
And somewhere. Somehow. They forget to tell Tim.
Sometimes he misses his mom and dad. He misses his old room and being alone in a big house, but months turn to years and he likes it here. He really does. He has brothers here and Alfred, and they say they’re his family. He likes that.
They said they wanted to keep him, so they kept him. Kept him forever.
Then Damian is there.
Tim comes home and there’s a new boy, about the age he was when they got him. Tim asks in a whisper, “Did they take you too?”
#Is this realistic? no! but neither is the caped crusader#Damian 100% takes Tim’s word on this#He just met his father today and the first thing he learns about him is that he kidnapped his neighbor#Damian suggests going to the police but Tim says it won’t work bc Bruce is friends with the commissioner#so Damian says they’ll find Tim’s parents on their own#and then cue hijinks that untimely end in a very sad reveal#Everybody just assumed that Bruce spoke to Tim about his parents bc Tim was really sad for a bit#but that was because he thought he’d been kidnapped#Tim drake#damian wayne#Bruce Wayne#jack drake#janet drake#batfam
