I think I'm going to make a temperature blanket this year

#I don't know how to explain what's going on but I'm struggling and don't know how to get a handle on it #I think that there's two issues going on that are probably somewhat intertwined because I'm fixating on them as such #so maybe I need to separate out the one that is stupid and I shouldn't be fixating on it #and then just focus on the other thing as it is and not as a symptom of whatever else #idk but it's so weird and complicated that I just can't figure out how to explain it #and I've gone to my mom over stuff related to this enough lately so I won't again #idk I'm just. maybe I'm having a hard time because I'm so tired. Otakon's AMV contest allowed VHS submissions, and I knew I just had to submit the collab I edited with @astravis this way.

I hope it's clear why!

And I loved putting AMVs on tape so much that I quickly ordered a bunch of blank tapes online to compile all of my anime music videos this way.

(Short reel of a few of them.)

And, like, it's definitely far from perfect. My computer doesn't have an HDMI port, so I have to use a converter for that, and it's horrible quality. While that does add to the VHS aesthetic, it also makes some of the subtitles nigh impossible to read (as especially evident in the "First Time" video above). My digitization process also isn't exactly ideal, either.

But popping in a VHS tape of my videos and seeing that on the TV? Absolutely amazing. There is no other way I want to physically compile my AMVs. 10/10. MarshmallowGoop/MarshmallowGoop.

Would like to improve my process someday, but if anyone else is curious about how to make VHS tapes out of videos on your computer, I mostly followed this guide here!

They say i can return the cover alone. > Monday morning > Unzip cover. Take only top half bc that's easier to remove than the whole thing > Drive 35min to ikea. > Wait 40 min at customer service. > Exchange top half of cover. > Drive home. > Put cover on. Zippers of new top and old bottom are not aligned and the halves don't fit together. > Drive back to Ikea. > Exchange bottom half of cover for the one that matches the new top half (they hadn't gotten rid of the mattress yet. > Drive home. > Put cover on. Lift mattress by handles on the cover. > Cover rips. > Dejectedly walk into kitchen to get myself some yogurt. > (I was supposed to spend the morning cooking and now i have neither cooked nor eaten) > Open brand new yogurt jar. > It's got mold in it. > Husband calls ikea and arranges a pickup exchange so I don't have to drive there again. > Later that night. > Enter my car to go back home from a friend's. > Car makes a weird noise. > "oh, i need to refill the power steering liquid, I've driven a lot today and that makes the power steering leak leak faster" > Refill power steering > Drive home > Start parallel parking > Weirder noise, liquid starts gushing from under the car with smoke and shit > Well shit. #probably my last sunny walk at home :(#keeeeellll meeeee #i think one of the things i hate about going back to uni is not being able to experience autumn and winter at home like i used to #it’s weird because i’ve always loved them and considered them my favourite seasons.#but last year (and now this year) i’m realizing that oh! i think it’s because i got to come home after a long day and be in a safe familiar #space. and at uni everything is still a bit unfamiliar and not very comforting so the long cold days get so much harder #but i will surviveeeeeee #counting on gilmore girls to get me through it!! and also love is blind s7. i LOVE having things to look forward to every week it makes tim #fly by so fast. last yr every friday night was reserved for me and i ate frozen pizza or takeout and/or my favourite snacks and #watch my comfort films :( i cooked a lot those nights too 2 save money but yeah. it was rlly nice to have that comfy safe time to myself #i think it rlly got me thru uni.#ik it’s gonna be so hard to get back into a routine but im trying to tell myself that i need to like. focus on the basics first. adulting #can be so hard & i wanna do everything at once! i wanna b perfect in all areas. always do my hobbies. etc etc but i #i couldnt even get out of bed to make myself meals sometimes 💔 so i need to like remember if i don’t journal or read a whole book in a day #not the end of the world. and most importantly i need to be EATING and staying active and SLEEPING FIRST and foremost cause then hopefully #i won’t feel like a zombie.#okay anyways.#feeling sad feeling tired feeling unmotivated but also feeling a teensy bit excited for finally BEING ALONE!!!!#i have my cardiologist appt tmrw so maybe that’s why i feel so yuck also. just thinking abt it makes me wanna throw up #i hope everything goes well #anyways bye bye #♡ dear diary…

don’t mind me i need to bitch and moan about my writing again to work some things out

opened up my dm yuri draft and was like ohhhh goodddd i hate this which is sad because i don’t want to hate it. i want to love it like my baby. basically it started as a conceptual think but then i started writing scenes and THEN i discussed the concepts with my buddy sam which gave me the inspiration to write more scenes and so now it’s like conceptual at the beginning and then a normal fanfic for the rest. so it goes super tonally off kilter. so i tried to fix that and then i started making my own lore inconsistent. fucked up. so now i’ve got inconsistent lore i need to decide on and a like combo narrative and conceptual fic. would love to blend them together somehow but i don’t know. unless i just inject the conceptual parts in-between. not sure though. not sure. do you guys have any fanfics that are written in a ~different~ style i could emulate for this. send recs
