the meaning of vicarious by TOOL gets so lost in translation by ppl its literally a song about how desensitized we have grown as people over humanity’s state. the title itself is literally irony about ppl who claim to be victorious when they’re literally killing ppl (which i personally interpret via war and all that, basically every politician or billionaire acts like). ESPECIALLY ON THE FIRST LYRIC!!!!!
the lyric “we all feed off of tragedy” is so so so so true even now that the news has evolved for nearly 2 decades since the album’s release

#2nd day/part of this#Ended up coloring this one (I'm starting to get used to aseprite and its tools). #several people I would rather NOT spend my summer doing manual work with are going AND the director said she’s moving me from my trench of#2 years to a different trench bc of some valid reasons of what I know a lot about BUT that trench is MY baby and we were FINALLY through th#roof tile layer and I spent 2 years waiting for that#and my dig wife isn’t going this year 😭😭😭😫😫😫😫#she’s moving me to the trench that they found a forge in and didn’t get to bedrock yet in and I wrote my thesis on tools so like fair#but I fucking worked my ass off for that other trench and I don’t get to be there for the fruit of my labors#last season was HARD it rained so much and we were so busy and couldn’t excavate very many hours and the professional archaeologist assigned#to my trench had a different commitment so I was In Charge of that trench and fighting for my life to keep the mood up of the undergrads I#was supervising and I was in charge of making HARD decisions about how to excavate that trench#and now I’m being put at a different trench and like they already found the evidence of the forge like what more am I going to find there#but despite my gentle and polite protestations I am being reassigned to be in charge of that unit#which fine I’ll do my absolute best but I’m still upset

#solo rpgs#solo ttrpgs#ttrpg tables#i doubt this is something people haven't figured out many times already; but! it's useful and i hadn't seen it anywhere#and it was enough of a hassle that i figured i'd save some time for anybody who also will find it useful and hadn't seen it elsewhere#also i know it would maybe be more in the spirit of the thing to call it 'when all you have is a d100'#because a *lot* of the time that's effectively what you're rolling for; and maybe i will change the name to that#but you could do it with just a d10! it'd be really annoying in some cases because you have to roll d10 twice for a d100! but you could!#current parameters of the challenge are 'make the roll without having to reroll anything below a 90 or a 10'#i made the rpgsolo hack to be playable with only a d10 and d100 and it was fun enough that i wanted to do more with that#also i will be fair and say that the dice deck thing is not necessarily when all you have is a d10. i will take any dice combo that works#my disabled ass can't use physical cards; and physical dice are dodgy#but there are a LOT more digital dice rollers out there than there are digital card deck tools#let alone ones that don't rely on an online server; let alone ones that actually work on mobile#it is A Quest of Mine and i have zero experience with game jams but i am legit considering poking at hosting one for this#in particular because there's like 5000 ways you could do it and it would be nice to give people accessibility options#in case whatever go-to i jury-rig for myself doesn't jive with them#it does count as awkward tables initiative to me though so it goes under the same banner as this one#when all you have is a d10 project#awkward tables initiative#RPGSolo#ttrpg tag#whosebaby does game dev#whosebaby makes things#edit: literally less than a half hour after posting this i found. the simplest possible way to draw a card with dice. wheezes#figuring out a method to keep TRACK of a deck efficiently is probably another story but OH MY GOD. had a little bit of a freak out #moment and rearranged my entire room
#the thought process being#i hate it here so much and i can’t control that until school is over#but what i CAN control#is laboriously moving around every single piece of furniture in my room#honestly i’m a little pissed i feel like i finally unlocked what the vibe of the room should be#and now i’m moving out in two months :/#the ‘moment’ in question was spread out over two days and so many hours of sweat#and an hour round trip drive to work to get my tool bag instead of spending money on a new drill battery charger for the 1 drill i had hlme#and it’s still not done#it’s done being reorganized it’s just not all put away quite yet. it just looks like my room is messy again#even though the process was clean > move furniture > put stuff away#but the last step is being delayed…… there’s stuff in my floor#also did i do laundry during all of this? the chore i need to do most desperately? certainly not

Sincerely as a former user of both Excel and sheets, it is nuts how much easier libre office calc is. Not in the typical way that certain things are easier to access but moreso that the formulas and ways things are set up just work with my brain better. I never really had much need to learn formulas in Excel because there were so many and the layout felt over complicated, and don't even get me started on sheets. But with calc, there's a lot more freedom with the formulas and a lot of the skills you have from either of those other programs carries on here. Not a super big point or anything to this post, just simply very appreciative of what calc can do.
#twist rambles#like. obviously i use it a lot to format data. and i was looking into how i wanted to compare two lists bc i need to see the duplicate#issues between them. I don't want to do that manually lol. and there are so many tactics that just work out there.#like. I think in some ways u do have to fight w calc a little bit. i did a school project where we had to do a timeline and where excel has#that feature built in. calc does not. i had to spend an hour familiarizing myself with the formulas and digging on old forums and that is#simply more enjoyable to me bc i walked away with much more knowledge of the program than ok click 2 buttons. i work w spreadsheets often#enough that familiarizing myself w the formulas and different tools honestly is more helpful than it being one of the billion menu options#plus libre is free and has a ton of manuals online. which is great. and it runs better on any machine than office#^ was just thinking about all of this bc i like. didnt have the desire to learn with other sheet programs but i do here. its rewarding
