Honestly, Danny is having such a good time right now. He gets to travel with Ellie, explore space, just have fun. Plus his secondary protector-instincts are having soothed despite him not technically doing any hero-ing anymore. Really his sister had the right idea when she decided she wanted to become a doctor, this is honestly a blast.

And if someone does end up passing away, well, Ellie is always happy to help soothe their spirit and guide them to the Realms where they can reach their respective afterlife. Or become a ghost. 

They are completely oblivious to the fact that there are now legends and entire temples dedicated to them now. Apparently accidental ascension is in fact a thing, as Dan later laughs at them about.

i'm finally finishing up my s2 rewatch and getting to the 24th episode awoke a beast in me. so i wanted to make a fake screenshot based on some of their lore that takes place during that episode. i think they'd end up having a heart-to-heart moment since kuroba went through similar struggles after their grandfather's own hospitalization...

also have a bonus doodle bc i need to even out the balance between serious & goofy with these two.

thinking,,,,,,, wanderer who thinks he's healed enough and has managed to slowly but surely work on fixing and breaking his bad habits. perhaps he'll always carry the desire to obsess over something to feel whole, but now that he's a student at the akademiya he's certain there's nothing that can possibly get him to break the good habits he's been learning and exercising.

but then he meets you and, like moss, you grow on him and suddenly the obsession comes creeping back in, and all of those good habits mean nothing when it's so easy to stalk you for all the "right" reasons. to keep you safe. to make sure you won't do anything stupid or get wrapped up with the wrong people. to learn more about you so that he can avoid the tedious thing that is face-to-face conversation.

and maybe this time the obsession is worse because unlike previous times those obsessions pertained to himself. the obsession with a gnosis and a heart. the obsession to be a human. the obsession to feel worthy and loved and seen. the obsession with family.

but now this obsession is not focused on a concept or a piece of himself that's missing and lacking. this is another person he's obsessing over, and strangely it feels even more fierce when you're someone he thinks is worth protecting and keeping and holding on to. suddenly, all the work he's done is meaningless if you're not going to be in his world.

I think it's very significant that the hand Komaeda held onto the spear cord with was his left hand. He used his right hand to cut his thighs and left arm, and then stabbed his right hand through with a knife. But his left hand remained uninjured. This was partially because he needed the hand strength to hold onto the cord until the appointed time to let go. But it was also not his hand to injure.

His left hand, in the real world, no longer belonged to him. It was Junko Enoshima's hand.

Komaeda believed that he would become the Ultimate Hope if he had succeeded in destroying the Remnants of Despair through his murder-suicide plan. But unknowingly, he was playing into Enoshima's plan. Whether he succeeded in killing only himself and the traitor, or in killing himself and everyone but the traitor, he would further Enoshima's goal of having more of the bodies of the Remnants to upload her consciousness into after they had been killed in the simulation. When Komaeda let go of the spear, Enoshima let go too.

man. Thinking about Charlie being the one to push so hard for peace. While Cellbit is pushing to win even at the expense of those around him. Something something cellbit isnt even bothering with trying to keep peace. hes disillusioned. He's tried it already and it didn't work.

Meanwhile Charlie has been through the absolute wringer. He lost his daughter he lost his spouse he lost everything. But he was able to work through it because people helped him. He has experience with peace. With community. He knows how powerful it can be.

Cellbit didn't get that in prison.
