Battle of Resson

The venin were everywhere. Screams of civilians filled your ears like cotton, fire and rubble at every turn. You couldn’t leave. Not yet. In your peripheral vision, you saw Violet speed past on Tarin, the giant black dragon swiping at wyvern and venin alike. Liam sat on the dragon also, eyes scanning the area frantically.

You were ushering families out of the area, all going to plan util you saw a flash of red. And white.

"DEIGH!" Liam screams, and your dragon, Aella, abandons the civilians you had to save, soaring towards the wyvern that latched onto Deigh, causing you to have to hold on for dear life.

Liam wants to rush to him, but stops when he sees you and Aella soar in their direction. He jumps down from Tarin's back, and you from Aella's just in time to fall into Liam's arms as Aella latches onto the wyvern's wing. Nausea pools in your stomach.

She fights valiantly to get it's jaws off Deigh, but Deigh only roars out in pain as the wyvern's grip persists. All 3 crash down, bodies thumping on the hillside.

Panic grips your chest like a steel vice, blood pooling down from Deigh's neck and onto the slack jaw of the wyvern. Aella's green scales paint red as her side slices on rubble.

Neither are going to make it.

Nor will you.

Or Liam.

The thought fleets as lightheadedness settles in, your body slumping against Liam's. He reaches for you, but his own frame falls beside you.

"No- no, we can’t- we have to ge to them. We can’t go without them!" He rasps, face riddled with pain. He tries to lift you both up, but his legs give out. "No. No, come on!" He yells out, tears falling from his eyes.

"Liam..." You whisper, your own tears falling down your cheeks, violent pain down your side mirroring Aella's. Liam looks down at you, his hold on you not loosening despite the growing lack of energy in his body.

"It's okay, you're okay. I'm here." He whispers, his forehead against yours.

"I don’t want to die." You cry, voice weak.

"I know, angel. I know. But I'm here. I won't let go."

7 months prior

"I said I won't let go!" Liam laughs, hands holding yours as you balance the parapet like a gymnastics beam.

"And that makes it so much better?" You respond, the night air prickling your skin. You both get to the middle of the parapet, and sit down with steady movements. He pulls you close to him, his head atop yours.

"I still can’t believe we're bonded." He says, his voice soft and genuine. "It's like our dragons knew fate would be in our favour to pair both them, and us."

You nod, thinking back to the faithful day not long ago. The moment you and Liam locked eyes after Threshing, bloodied and dirty, your dragons nuzzling against each other. And you knew.

"We'll have to thank Loial at some point." You say with a smile.

Liam chuckles, his hair brushing your forehead. "Y'know, ever since the rebellion, I've always wavered about the gods. If they exist. And if they do, why they have to be so cruel to those who don’t deserve it. But then after crossing this dastardly thing," he says, gesturing to the parapet, "I found you. And I knew that there was a sliver of a chance they weren’t so ruthless. And then Threshing happened, and I knew. They heard me. They gave me Deigh, our friends, didn’t separate me and the marked ones too far. And most of all, you. You're the most precious thing they created. And I can’t wrap my head around the fact they gave me you."

You look up at him, the pale moonlight shining over his features.

"Is it too early in all this to say I love you?" You whisper.

"Not at all." He responds back, waves of pure adoration waving through your bond. "I love you, too. And I vow to do so forever. And I will do so even after the day Malek takes us." He leans down, and presses a soft, but firm kiss to your lips. After pulling away, you both shift close and look at the stars together.

Present moment

"Liam!! Y/n!!" The familiar voice of Violet calls to you, her and Xaden spiriting to you both. She tries to lift you both, but yells in frustration as she can’t. "NO! No, please, you can’t! I can’t lose both of you!!" She cries, and you reach for her hand.

"Violet. It's okay. You'll be alright." You whisper, sobs still heaving your chest. Only you would comfort someone about your impending death, while begging Malek not to take you away, Liam thinks.

"No..." Violet sobs, still trying to grab you both.

Liam tries to console Violet, pleading her to live on. To forgive Xaden, to look after Sloane. And the thought of that makes guilt stab through you like the sword that sits against Liam's back. You think of your family. Your friends. Xaden and Violet. Aella, even though she too is slipping away.

"Do not fear for me, Brave One." Aella says through your bond, her voice weak and full of pride. "You have fought wonderfully. Be proud of yourself. It has been the honour of my life to have you as my rider, and to die beside you."

"I'm so fucking sorry." You respond. "Thank you for choosing me."

"Deigh- Aella-" Liam breathes, snapping you out of your thoughts, his grip on your frame still unrelenting.

"I know, brother. I'll take you both." Xaden says, managing to lift both of you, Violet stepping back, still racking with sobs of pure grief.

He carries you up the mountain, the last rays of dusk sun covering the space. He places you both where Deigh and Aella are curled together.

"Xaden..." You start, trying to reach for him. "I know. I know." He says, voice still scarily steady, but tears in his eyes, though he lets none fall. "You both did everything you can. You deserve to rest now."

Liam nods, his grip on Xaden's hand falling limp, yet still unable to let go of you. "Thank you, brother." Liam says, his voice strained. "I love you."

Xaden returns the sentiment, and turns to you, noticing the fear in your expression. "You're alright. We're here. We'll always be here. You don’t have to be afraid." He says, brushing hair away from your face.

"I'm sorry." You whisper, breath slowing.

"Don’t be. Don’t die in guilt. You've done more than you know for everyone. Honour it." You nod, the smallest flicker of contentment settling your heart.

"Violet has to be the one to kill the venin. You hold them off." Liam whispers to Xaden, who nods. With that, he steps away, going to Violet to console her, who watches in utter distraught.

Left alone, Liam turns to you, tears filling his eyes at the sight of you. But he smiles.

"Hey, it- it's okay." He whispers, breath spluttering. "Til death do us part, right?"

Despite the life leaving your bones, you chuckle. "We aren’t even married."

"No, but we're bonded. That's all the assurance we need." He says, using his last ounce of strength to pull you closer, the lingering warmth and staggered breath of your dragons a comforting, reassuring familiarity. Home.

"Please don’t leave." You whisper, forehead against his. "When we go, don’t leave me. Hold my hand on the way through."

Liam nods, short breaths fanning over your lips. "I promised you I'd love you even after we get to Malek. I will hold that promise."

You nod, the blatant truth in his words putting you at ease.

"Thank you for loving me. For showing me how to love." You whisper, and press a gentle kiss to his lips.

"Don’t thank me. It's been my honour." He whispers, putting your head to his chest.

"I'll see you when we get there." He whispers, and you nod.

"See you soon."

The last fading sounds around you is the sound of your dragons going still, Violet yelling out for you both and Xaden's soft but strained words of comfort to her. Then Liam's breath, and your own, ceasing. Everything behind your eyes go dark, but you allow it, peace washing over you as your last breath leaves your lips.

Something stirs on the other side, and you feel a pair of arms pull you in, a welcome. It lets go, all feelings of pain gone as you're directed to wander.

And you still feel Liam's hand clinging to yours, leading you through. He kept his promise.

(I also have this thought of you sitting on the grass reading a book while lu and baby run around, and then you hear "mommy, mommy" and see the mini-version of lu running towards you with a bunch of daisies in his hands and you know it was lu's idea, don't worry I'm NOT crying) as lu is driving home, he tells you that he wants to start reading the lorax to your child so you're like "that's fine by me? why are you asking me this?" and he tells you he doesn't want the child having to wait to go to his house to read the rest of the book, so you suggest that you can buy a copy too and you can update each other on the progress... but he insists that he loves the lorax and he's always dreamed of reading it to his future children and he really wants to be the one to read the whole book to his son, so you have no choice. lu has to come to your house every night to read the book to your son before he falls asleep. and you know, sometimes he happens to be there for dinner or he stays a little longer after the baby falls asleep and it's nice having him around. one night, you find yourselves touching on the dating subject again (tho it's much more lighthearted than the last time) and you comment about how it's impossible even thinking to find someone decent out there, his heart starts beating faster because you're finally opening your eyes? so he tries to sound very nonchalant when he asks you what about that guy and to his joy you simply shrug and tell him that it was just a little distraction, but it was nothing much - you two had only gone on a few dates and he swears it's like he started breathing all over again. he can't resist and asks "but why?" and you simply answer that you still have needs. so he's literally like "?? Eleven🖕Linda Hamilton Character:

Yeah i know what you're thinking, "what about Vecna", but just follow me. Linda Hamilton character is apparently a female Brenner, but with actual military experience, so she will be a manipulative scientist like Brenner, this already makes Eleven having a hatred towards her probable. The hand to hand experience that she has can be dangerous for the rest of the gang aswell. Some people probably think it doesn't make sense for her to be throwing hands, but it's Linda Hamilton we are talking about, the OG Sarah Connor, the Duffer Brothers will make her a beast in a fight, both with guns or with her bare hands.

Will🖕Mind Flayer and Vecna (and Lonnie too):

This is why i think Eleven wouldn't have Vecna as her ultimate nemesis. Henry has a lot of similarities with Will as we can see on his flashback, but they ended up as total opposites. And we don't need to talk about Mind Flayer beef with Will, it's kinda embarrasing to be a interdimensional entity and still having the need of tormeting a teenager gay loser.

And there is that bitch ass Loonie too, i don't have anything too say about him.

Mike🖕Unnamed Creature (and Chance):

To start, Mike beef with Chance won't be because of this weird and boring theory that Chance has a crush on Will, but because Chance is the total opposite of Mike, he just follow orders and stay quiet, Mike is someone who wouldn't let anybody dictate what he is supposed to do (there's a post comparing all of the four core with the basketball gang, but i couldn't find it, sorry).

This unnamed creature is probably what was roaring during that scene of Robin, Nancy, Steve and Eddie on the Upside Down. It is probably that monster that Nancy saw on her visions. My bet is that Hopper will probably give that sword for Mike, giving the title of hero to him.

Hopper🖕Sullivan:

What is better than give a tramautized ex-soldier a Colonel as his enemy? It would be pretty much a cycle ending, after he got scarred for life and lost his first daughter because of higher ups that made him help them with war crimes against their enemies, he will end the life of one them that is actually trying to kill his second daughter too.

Dustin🖕Andy:

Some people are kinda of underestimating Andy, if you watch season 4 again you'll see how unhinged he is (i will make a post talking about how much of a threat he can be in this season), besides the fact that he will seek revenge for Jason by attacking the hellfire club ex-members, and Dustin is pretty much using their shirt in most of the paparazzi pics.

Lucas🖕All of the Basketball Team:

He probably is angry at them because of Max situation and they're angry at him because of Jason death. I hope to see some kind of revenge by Lucas part.

On one way or another we will have a scene of Jonathan and Steve beating some asses together, and this guy seems to be around the age of 25 or a little bit older, so they can pretty much have a showdown against him. This could be that epic scene Jonathan and Steve will share together that the hawkinsfamilyphoto (Chris, a paparazzi) said he would release if he reaches a certain amount of payed members on Twitter/X.

Robin and Vickie🖕Town Folks:

I have this theory that some type of religious cult group will be manipulated by Henry, and they will have something against the whole group and mainly with Will, Mike, Robin and Vickie because of their little secret.

last episode i speculated that we're either going to get a Three or a Zero in the title to reflect YC's fixation on his Trust Value, and lo and behold this week's episode is called Three Seats (that are empty—3 increasing from 2 of last ep, but ultimately 0). what a perfect encapsulation of YC's arc—E-soul survives, but the person behind the mask is dead. The heart of courage and justice becomes one filled with regret and rage and, in the end, emptiness.

called boba uncle being sus from the start! (though not to this extent.) but yeah, i knew he had to be involved with the kidnapping because he's the only introduced character who has the contact info to the two kidnappers, and he deliberately put YC on their radar to get the shot of him 'interacting' with those two, which is then used to frame YC by Mighty Glory. it did bug me that it seemed to be pure luck that Shang Chao was the one who got killed, but maybe Rock figured he still has OG E-soul if YC did die, and if YC only got injured they could still spin the "old E-soul is a bad guy who has it out for new E-soul" angle? I also felt weird that YC's trust value was at 0 when Rock seemed to really look out for him, so the reveal this episode that YC's only a tool to him makes perfect sense in retrospect. he's someone who preys on those marginalized by society, and those he preyed on had no choice but to play along, ending with their own deaths (I do think YC is the E-soul who survived, but he's now only a puppet for Rock. guy dug two graves in his pursuit for revenge.)

seeing the memorial site at the e-soul fight makes me sick btw. hello let's have this battle that ends with one of them dead at a place where OG E-soul's sacrifices, courage and hard work is commemorated. I think OG is the E-soul who died, so Rock manipulated events where OG is killed by a child he once saved, on the anniversary of his hero career, at the location where the symbol of his dedication to saving people stands, with fans cheering on the new guy to take him down. that's a brutal way to go.

however, i do think OG E-soul's response to the media frenzy is odd—I think he refused to respond because, like before, he thought people would see the truth/know the true E-soul? but to not even have a comment addressing the allegations is WILD to me. like you're kind of being accused of murder my guy, you really want to just pretend it's not happening? after 34 years in the game he should know that conspiracies will keep snowballing if you just stay quiet. i think it's understandable that YC is spiraling when OG doesn't do anything to try to clear his name, though ofc he doesn't 'deserve' to die either.

like, i think it makes sense that the company never did too much to assert OG's innocence, because we know Rock wanted to push the fight to get rid of OG and Rock owns Mighty Glory, but I do wonder what's going on in OG's head leading up to the duel. does he know he was essentially set up to die? did he try to win back fans when he used his special move, or was there another motive to using that specific strike? why the hell didn't he say ANYTHING at all about the allegations or speak up about his team framing YC? did some part of him want to die? if so, why use his special move right in the end? why fight at all?

upon rewatching fight, maybe the point is that OG an old-timer who couldn't adapt to the change in how the hero business is run nowadays, while Rock is someone who knows how to manipulate the new business model to get what he wants. The fact that OG E-soul is fighting defensively until the last moment seems to indicate that he neither wants to die nor maim YC, which just makes his silence throughout the whole media circus more baffling. Bro you could've tried to stop this ages ago. C'mon man.

During the fight there's a lone comment going "they're not gonna fight to the death... are they?" but the rest are wrapped up in squeeing over New E-soul's cool armor. (There's like 1 or 2 comments cheering OG E-soul on, another comment that says "in the end E-soul will win" and two that says "you must win!" without specifying New or Old.) in the end E-soul did win, we just don't know which one.

(I personally think OG surviving would throw narrative and thematic coherence out the window, because YC being a puppet who lost everything outside of E-soul in the end makes for the most meaningful/thematically coherent story for me. I do like how ambiguous it is though, because it lets people in- and out-of-universe believe what they want to believe, thus maximizing E-soul's Trust Value.

I also think it's possible that both died and are revived as a merged identity of E-soul, though I strongly prefer YC being the one who survived to reinforce Rock's observation that people will never stray from the rules someone higher up has put in place—the marginalized are preyed upon by people with influence, and they destroy their own humanity in trying to succeed in the society that marginalized them in the first place.)

S6 ep speculation

Get ready to hear my 80% wrong predictions even though I’m like, super not caught up on this show! It’s still fun to guess. Also this post will be generally leak-free so don’t go replying to it with “uhhh actually from the leaks we know this and that”. Not the place. Warning, this post is incredibly long.

1) Climatiqueen

I lean into the microphone and say, “Aurore”. The crowd erupts into cheers and fervent applause. Everyone shouts and whistles and pumps their arms in the air.

Interesting that they went with the French name for both translations, and she clearly seems to be a powered up version of stormy weather. It’s so fitting to circle around and start this new arc and new butterfly user off with the OG… I just hope we’ll get to learn a little about her character this time (doubtful). She’s gone to the main cast’s school this whole time and was Marc and Zoe’s classmate. It’d be great if they made her an actual recurring character instead of a special NPC. The children yearn for a character who acts like a cunty Mean Girl but isn’t actually a bad person.

I’m guessing this episode will serve as a general intro to the new world, showing us a typical day in the life of LB & CN kind of like the original pilot without dropping any important main plot developments.

2) Dessinatriste/The Illustrhater

Why is nobody talking about how funny the English name is, that’s hilarious. The haterrr. I’m getting very different vibes from both translations emotions-wise. The English title makes it sound like they’re petty or angry rather than sad.

My first thought was Nath because the name follows similar conventions as Dessinateur/Evillustrator in both languages and as one of the earliest and most iconic akumas it might continue this idea of Lila following in Gabriel’s footsteps while first learning how to butterfly.

In early s1, Gabriel was still experimenting with his powers while figuring out what does and doesn’t work when making an akuma. Well actually, since it was Gabriel, he learned absolutely nothing and was shocked when making the same mistakes over and over didn’t give him different results.

I think putting Lila through that same test drive phase would show her being much more analytical and actually develop her skills based on what she learns. In s1, Gabriel had a hard time making The Evillustrator do what he wanted, going so far as to like bloodbend him, then never targeted him again. If Lila was in that situation, she might figure out how to be more persuasive/manipulative/motivational or just learn that she has to choose akumas who will align with her goals in the first place.

Nath is also majorly due for character development. And he might be a pro level hater. It’s odd and a shame that we’ve only seen him once while every other class character has been akumatized like a hundred times atp. I think it’s most likely him.

I’ve seen people bring up that the French name sounds like a pun on the feminine form of the word. While Nath might be a diva, my counter argument is that this might be referring to Kagami, who is also interested in illustration and a girl. <- LMAO [insert Kagaminette joke], I mean “and is a girl”.

We haven’t heard much about her artistic journey in a long time even though it was important enough to mention in that trading card game where they said she secretly wants to make her own manga but lacks the confidence to start even though she has it planned out (super paraphrased).

Since Tomoe will become a greater villain, this could be the opportunity to show it since she’s the reason Kagami is self-conscious about her art. Maybe Tomoe will provoke Kagami into getting akumatized on purpose to test out Lila’s abilities or use her somehow. I’m not sure what her motivations are. Kagami does have, what, four different akuma forms already not counting powered-up ones? Crazy evolution tree, why not add more.

This might be an episode where Kagami becomes more comfortable pursuing what she wants and finding support among Marinette and friends instead of looking for Tomoe’s validation, continuing the plot line from Perfection. Once again, I don’t think it’s likely to be her tho.

3) Sublimation

I’ve seen the leaks and I believe everything I’ve seen has been from this episode. I feel comfortable saying this since it was already released in the official trailer, but the villain here is the coach woman. This episode seems to mostly be focused on this new runner girl character. I won’t elaborate because I don’t think any of the other stuff I know about this ep was in official material, but yeah, very much a new character situation.

You’d think this episode would have something to do with the power of the rooster miraculous, but there is absolutely no indication of that. I like to imagine the writers have a “word of the day” calendar at the office, and when they learned the word sublimation they were like, “hollllyyyy shit you guys, we need more people to know about this”.

4) Daddycop

I expect this to be a Sabrina-centric development episode and would be shocked if it’s not. Her relationship with Roger is pretty interesting since they seem to be on good, loving terms, yet he’s okay with all the Chloe bs and seems apathetic or ignorant to how Sabrina was being treated. Maybe we’ll see some rebellion from her now that she hangs out with other people.

The akuma’s name, to me, implies that Sabrina will be responsible for Roger’s akumatization or at least the main focus of it. Maybe he will become overly protective of her and target anyone who fucks with her or worry that she’s straying from the right path and exaggeratedly try to correct her behavior.

Sabrina’s behavior up to around Penalteam was likely informed by Roger’s influence, possibly more-so than Chloe’s. He had this “doing what you’re told is right” mindset that he instilled in his daughter, so in this episode, she might help him unlearn it. As a cop, he was always mindlessly bossed around by Mayor Bourgeois, so since Andre is gone, Roger will have to think for himself more.

5) Papys Garous/Werepapas

Continuing the theme of dramatic dads, the consensus seems to be that this will be Tom and probably Rolland. I’m not sure why, but Marinette’s always getting up to some silly billy antics, so. Tom doesn’t seem to have any issue with Adrien and idk what type of beef is gonna start for the grandpa to get involved. It might be some misunderstanding situation or another “Chat Noir is on our fucking balcony again, get the broom” moment.

It might very well be the mom and dad though, not the dad and grandpa. People have been talking about how it’s unrealistic that Marinette has been able to keep huge secrets from her parents for so long, so they might snap this time, not because of Adrien, but because she’s been acting shady herself. They might assume she’s getting into trouble. People have been long speculating that Sabine will learn Ladybug’s identity soon, so maybe she will finally have to tell her parents in a situation similar to gang of secrets.

6) Princesse Syren/Sleeping Syren

Ondine yayyyy! Yay! Ondine. Possibly a Kimdine episode to redeem Kim after they ruined his character for no reason and everyone got really mad because it didn’t even make sense. Remember when the instas were still a thing Alya had a post like “hanging out at the pool! Ondine is so awesome idk what she sees in Kim” or something. Yeah. How’d he pull a baddie like her if he’s been acting the way they’ve been showing him to act? Makes no cents luv. I’m dying to see more of their relationship, more of her, and some repair of what they’ve done to Kim.

It sounds like they might be doing some kind of sleeping beauty retelling? Idk how that would make Syren a threat if she’s asleep the whole time, but maybe she’ll still be doing the whole flooding the city with tears thing while she’s sleeping.

I also really hope Ondine will be attending their school now. I want to see her interact with other characters and become more relevant. Please give The People (me) what they want (official Ondine street clothes design). Also they’ve been introducing too many lamely designed girl characters with average heights and athletic-skinny body types. We need the 6ft swole girl to balance them out.

7) El Toro de Piedra

This name is so Ivan-coded that I’m tempted to just say that it’s not him, but why would they make an intentionally misleading Ivan clone. The name is concerning because it sounds like a mix of stoneheart and his hero persona. That makes me think maybe he’ll get akumatized AS Minotaurox. His arc has been about how he’s scared to accidentally harm others because being the first akuma bothered him so deeply. If he’s in a situation where he has to act tough or use force as a hero, he might become upset, worrying that he’s going overboard. I can see him cracking if his fight against an akuma ends up getting a civilian hurt in the crossfire or with someone being scared of him afterwards. Having his regular/akuma and hero forms mix together could compromise his identity.

Also I guess he’s Hispanic? *sonic voice* I didn’t know that. I remember a long while ago they said in an interview to look forward to Ivan lore which is one of the things I am most excited for this season. He is probably THE most underrated character in the show and most overdue for development.

8) Vampigami

Guys I hate to say it. I really hate to say it. My heart wants this to be vampire Kagami sooooo bad but my brain says we aren’t allowed to have nice things. I already suggested a Kagami akuma earlier, and she can totally get akumatized several times a season again because her mom hates her, but I’m not ready to be disappointed like this. I want her to become a badass evil vampire and acquire a Ben 10 arsenal of villain forms, but Vampigami is probably gonna be some stupid shit like Optigami except it looks like a bat instead of a butterfly this time.

I really don’t know what to seriously expect. I can’t imagine vamp referring to anything other than vampire, although it can also mean patching/editing like the word revamp. Gami has only been used in a senti name before to mean oragami. Idk man vampire Kagami is so engrained in my mind that I can’t come up with anything else. Like to charge reblog to cast. Let’s manifest that the writers have finally tuned in to what the people want.

9) Monsieur/Mister Agreste

This has got to be the episode that introduces Adrien’s grandparents, right? Meaning his grandpa is gonna be Gabriel’s dad and the title could stand for three generations of Mr. Agrestes. I’m surprised we haven’t heard much about them yet, but since Gabriel’s dead, it makes sense they’d come around to get his affairs in order or attend the funeral etc etc.

We got a big movie about Emilie’s history and her noble family, but all we know about the Agrestes is that they weren’t rich, and they sold fries. But there’s the weird part: wouldn’t Gabriel’s parents be the Grassettes? How much do they know about his life after he moved out? This episode might show us more about where it all went wrong for the Gabriel of this timeline. Maybe his dad will get akumatized because Gabriel abandoned their family, and he’ll become Mr. Agreste instead of Mr. Grassette to try to fit himself back into Gabriel’s fake narrative. He’ll turn into a rich asshole old guy because he thinks that’s the type of dad Gabriel would have wanted instead of his real self. Dang that’s sad.

10) Le Chateau Noir/The Dark Castle

My first reaction was Chat Noir, but I saw someone say Darkblade which makes so much more sense. I mean Chat Noir getting akumatized is an avengers-level threat, and last time it happened he blew up like everything, plus the episode was pretty late into the season.

Darkblade fits pretty well with the castle thing since he’s a knight. He lost yet another mayoral election, unable to even blame it on corruption this time. On top of it all, the new, fairly elected mayor is his old coworker from school who also didn’t have much political experience. Ouch.

11) Revelator

I’m getting Reverser from the name but only vaguely. This sounds like a similar type of villain to Gold Record who forces people to reveal something about themselves. Maybe this episode will go into how suddenly having secret identities is affecting the other characters’ relationships like Gang of Secrets again or Truth/Lies. If the akuma’s power has to do with revealing secrets, someone may get their identity exposed on accident like in Wishmaker. By that I mean a reveal between characters other than the akuma and the secret they want to find out.

12) Psyconductrice/Wreckless Driver

My first thought here was Max’s mom because she’s a train engineer, but the name seems to imply cars specifically. Totally unrelated, but remember that one poll on here about who’s the hottest MILF in miraculous, and Claudie Kante was in dead last by a lot, even way behind Audrey with her fuckass Anna Wintour bob and horrible child abusing bitter personality? Yeah you all have horrible taste. Democracy is dead and I hope everyone is happy being so goddamn ignorant and wrong. /hj.

On the topic of moms this could still be someone’s mom. I’ve brought up the pattern before: many moms are associated with a mode of transportation that are connected to their villain form. Car: Tomoe, boat: Anarka, train: Claudie, motorcycle: Gina. We could get a bus driver mom, or a trucker or taxi or racecar driver. Imagine. I’ve been saying we need a pilot mom.

Even if this isn’t anyone’s mom, it might be a new character. Idk who else it could be of existing characters.

13) Yaksi Gozen

This bitch again. Boo. I mean she IS super badass actually, but can we comically pull her offstage with a long hooked cane and let someone else have the screentime? I gotta say I am interested in her as a major villain but. Her akuma was cool the first two times and it’s time to calm down.

Clearly there’s something new about her this time. When looking up what yaksi means, it brings up yakshi, a type of nature spirit, but nothing that actually matches with “yaksi”. Maybe she’ll run a greenwashing campaign with her company? That reminds me of Mega Leech and how she wasn’t held accountable for her involvement in that scenario. If she comes under fire, she might get herself akumatized on purpose Collector-style to save face. Does anyone know if yaksi means something else? I’m not convinced it’s supposed to be yakshi without the h.

14) Couchorak/Grendiaper

Gigantitan vibes, possibly a powered-up version of him. When Hawkmoth first akumatized the baby, it was by mistake, and he ended up regretting it because he was hard to control and useless to his cause. Would Lila akumatize a baby on purpose, or is this an accident too? Since there’s a time skip, baby August would be a year older as well, so he’d actually be a toddler now, which might make him less unpredictable.

A shot in the dark I’m gonna make is that this might be Ivan’s younger sister. We know he has one, and while we don’t know her age, it sounds like she’s probably a toddler. We also know that he’s interested in childcare as a career. If I had to guess, I’d say he probably takes care of her often, which might be what gave him the idea. If she gets akumatized, it would be a great setup for his superhero focus episode.

15) La Redresseuse/The Ruler

My hottest take on this whole post is that this one is Mendeleev. Isn’t she the principal now or something? Idk but she’s a strict teacher who needs order, so I think the name matches her because 1: rulers are school supplies, especially for a science teacher who needs everything to be measured exactly, 2: ruler meaning leader with a totalitarian connotation, 3: the French title means straightener which connects to disciplining students or controlling how the school is run.

I think she’ll get akumatized because her students lack respect for her, and her strictness makes them dislike her which actually hurts her feelings as seen in the NY special. She might have a hard time adjusting to this new school system and her new role, not seeing the same positive relationships Bustier and Damocles held with the kids. She’ll go way overboard and turn into an evil school-themed dictator to try and regain control, but then learn her own lesson.

16) Noe

This is most likely a new character or something, but I love the idea that it’s just like, evil Zoe. Zoen’t. Noe.

OR imagine if it’s a more powerful version of Nino’s brother because it’s Noel but without the L, meaning this time, he won’t be taking the L. Coincidence? I think not. He is Lila’s pawn or whatever after all.

In all seriousness I have no idea what this is and the name could mean a lot of things, so I’m gonna just go with a completely new character.

17) La Fee De Beaux Reves/A Fairy Good Night

This is so Pigella energy. Not Rose, Pigella. In Jubilation, we saw how terrifying her power is when used for evil, trapping people in their own daydreams. Maybe she’ll struggle with nightmares or sleep problems and turn into an akuma that forces everyone to get stuck in imagined utopian illusions so they can “rest”. This idea is kind of the opposite of Sandboy and Nightormentor. I’d love to see more of her power and how it can be used for both good and evil, especially since a lot of people seem to think it’s useless or too situational.

18) Les Crassetastrophes/The Dirtifiers

This might be the little kids in another obligatory babysitting episode. The villain name is plural, so it could be a comic relief moment where the kids get mad because they don’t want to clean up or something silly. Otherwise maybe this is another pollution situation? I’m leaning more towards children, though. Another possibility is that we might be getting our first animal akumas.

19) Riginarazione

So I’m pretty set on this being Lila herself. Italian words? Check. Villain name having “queen” (rigina) in it because they can’t be too creative? Check. I’m guessing the pun is supposed to be regeneration rather than “queen ration” so maybe she’s gonna make herself some sort of nearly invincible self-healing villain.

20) Renverse-cœurs/Heartfixer

This sounds like that monstrosity Andre and Audrey turned into. Heart Hunter. I had to Google the name because I erased it from my mind. Out of all the old villains, I’m surprised this is one they’d choose to revamp since it was such a jumpscare, but I can see how they’d want to revisit it in the context of the Bourgeois’s messed up relationship since they were more of a temporary joke villain the first time. Maybe we’ll get some backstory on Chloe and Zoe as kids and who this Lee guy is who’s supposed to be Zoe’s American Dad (goooood morning, USA!). Based on the akuma name… maybe they’re gonna get less divorced. Wouldn’t that be a shocker? Audrey character development? Or maybe they’ll feel the need to keep it together for the kids.

21) Les Titans Chaines/The Chained Titans

I have no idea but it sounds awesome. Clearly more than one person. My first thought was s5 finale energy with the miraculized, like a whole mob of people sharing the same negative emotions. The metal vibes make me think maybe Couffaine family just because they’re so dramatic, and Jagged was a titan in the music industry who didn’t want to feel chained down? Kind of a stretch perhaps. Of course, it could be something new.

22) Lady Chaos

I’m saying Marinette akuma idc. I know people have been making this prediction for the past couple seasons and the writers were saying no but. Episode 22 is the one where shit goes down. Now that Bunnyx is active full time and there’s an entire team of other superheroes, there’s finally a chance to beat her if she does turn evil. I’m guessing it’s gonna be a bad timeline one like the Adrien akumas.

My concern with this type of ep is that they’d Mary Sue her and be like “her power levels are so high that nobody stands a chance against her, the best ladybug ever” even with like 20 heroes fighting her. I don’t think it’d be too bad though, because thinking about Chat Blanc, if she instantly blows up the whole world and the goal is just to undo that timeline, it’d probably be about equivalent.

23) Tristanansi

Using triste in two of the French akuma names is uh… we couldn’t come up with anything more creative? Anyway obv Nora so this could once again be a Nino episode like the first, but it could also (more likely imo) be an Alya one. Nora has a fiery personality and strong opinions so maybe Lila could’ve taken advantage of that to manipulate her kind of like what happened with Jalil. We were briefly introduced to a character who is her friend or boyfriend last season, and he may be more relevant this time, like maybe they have a fight. Similar to Sentibubbler, maybe Lila is targeting Alya’s family to try and get information out of her or steal the fox miraculous.

24) La Reine de Frayeurville/Queen of the Dreadzone

Other people have been saying this could be a Halloween special but… I want to say this might be a powered up Horrificator. This might be one of those episodes where they make it more lighthearted before the finale, and we haven’t seen her act on her own since s1 which is like the whole point of her akuma. She isn’t effective at all in groups and everyone’s been kinda desensitized to what’s supposed to be scary about her. Maybe they’re bringing her back scarier. Mylene has come far with her phobias, so they’d need something to really scare her.

I remember something about a proposed Halloween special taking place in the catacombs, which is coincidentally where Lila’s lair is. There might be a connection where the gang figures out she’s there, and something spooky goes wrong while investigating. The Paris catacombs are an understandable place to get scared in and a great setting for horror.

^^^ Ok I don’t know what specifically to say about the finale except that they’re probably gonna fight self-akumatized Lila since they tend to be kind of unpredictable.

What I do want to do is bring everything together and point out that Lila knows the identities of like half the heroes from the beginning because she stole Nathalie’s iPad or whatever happened. In Miracle Queen: Alya, Nino, Luka, Kagami, Kim, and Max had their identities revealed, which was relevant again in Optigami. Alix didn’t even try to keep a secret. Lila can easily connect that five of these people are her former classmates and all of them are friends, so she must have figured out that the rest of the heroes are also from their group. In the London special, it didn’t take a lot of hard work to uncover Marinette’s identity. She also targeted Kagami last season on a personal level. Side note, I have no clue if she knows Felix is Argos or not. That point is unclear to me, but I’m gonna assume she does since Gabriel knew.

We have Marinette, Adrien, Juleka, Rose, Mylene, Ivan, Zoe, Marc, Nath, and Sabrina left in the safe zone. I predicted most of these characters will get akumatized, and I believe Lila will be targeting them on an individual level under the suspicion that they’re on the team. It’s likely that she will even expose some if not a lot of them. In fact, she might have gone after Ondine as a red herring because she’s friends with them and King Monkey’s gf. From her perspective, Marinette could be one of the superheroes just as easily as anyone else could.

I’m not too worried about Adrien since he’s been the best at staying secretive, and Lila might not even suspect him because of the idealized yet untrue preconceived notions she has about him.

She may also be going down the list to see who does and doesn’t show up to each fight, making ladybug feel the need to call the minimum number of people to help her, which would solve the narrative problem of “why can’t ladybug sic the whole team on every akuma”. Discounting any Mirage tricks, having a certain hero help fight an akuma would tell Lila that the akuma is for sure not that hero. And obviously if every hero except one shows up that’s uh… suspicious.

Something very interesting is that out of all these characters, the episode I predicted to focus on Sabrina is one where the akuma is not her. Perhaps Lila will overlook her because she only recently made new friends, thinking she’d never be trusted with a miraculous. This same mistake of underestimating Sabrina is what led to her downfall the first time, so it’d be poetic if Sabrina managed to play the spy twice.

I did not predict any of these episodes to potentially be a Juleka akuma, but you know this girl will never in her life catch a break, especially with the rest of the pattern I’ve laid out above. Which episode do you think is secretly gonna be Reflekta? I guarantee you it’s one of them.

As a final note, I think Nathalie will be instrumental in helping the team identify Lila as the villain. They’re very unlikely to defeat her this season for good, but Nathalie knew about Lila’s little internship with Gabriel, and she was the one who originally had all the grimoire pages and Optigami identity data digitalized. She may recognize that information has been stolen or connect that Lila may have had the opportunity to physically take the butterfly miraculous by entering the lair. She’s in a unique spot because she’s the only one who knows this much about Lila’s villain plans, but also knows Ladybug’s identity now. I’m interested to see her role as a redeemed ally to the team.

Babe, Wake Up. New OM World Lore Just Dropped!

So. Nightbringer Lesson 22.

(spoilers, obviously)

The Father of Demons

While cleaning the library, MC finds a book -- one that has the same lines narrated by Solomon in the Prologue video. The book, like the video, ends abruptly at "the demon's name was..." as the rest of the book is gone, pages torn out.

The brothers wonder what the name could be, and Mammon insists it must be Nightbringer, to which Asmodeus agrees. Then, we find out that Satan learned some interesting information from a Celestial Realm book.

So the Celestial Realm also knows of Nightbringer -- but as "the father of demons", thought to be the very first demon born in the world. They go on to say Nightbringer has been known by other names as well, but otherwise, there isn't a whole lot more information on him. Okay, Simeon, please go home real quick and see if you can get this book in undamaged form for us.

That certainly brings a whole new weight to Nightbringer's identity, if he is indeed supposed to be the first demon ever to exist. So far, the game has been heavily hinting that Nightbringer is a version of Barbatos, and this new information would seemingly match up with one of the chats in OG where Barbatos mentions he was never a child, as well as the stories Asmodeus mentions of Barbatos being strong enough to be Demon King himself.

However, the identity of the child, as well as what Nightbringer's actual goals are with MC, is still to be revealed, and this doesn't help to actually clarify any of those questions yet.

The Secret of the Little D.'s

Another major thing we learned is about the Little D.'s -- and that is that they are technically fairies or spirits that came from a tree that the Fairy King used to tend, back when the Fairy King ruled the Devildom. The game goes on to explain that this makes them technically actually fairies or spirits, though the Little D.'s call themselves demons, so their true nature is a mystery -- especially since they are also sometimes born when a new demon is born into the world, but not always!

Interestingly, Barbatos also phrases it as those demons being chosen, so though it's extremely rare, it is seemingly not random, though we don't know exactly why or how.

New demons being born into the world also includes when fallen angels turn, it seems, since the extremely rare occurrence of these spirits being born alongside demons happened with all seven of the brothers after their fall.

So it's not that the main Little D.'s are just lesser demons of each particular sin, but that they are direct spirit counterparts to the demon brothers -- one for each of them, one for each sin.

Which brings us to ...

The Seven Sins

We've always known the seven brothers as the Avatars of the Seven Deadly Sins, but an interesting bit of information we learned in this lesson is that the brothers didn't know why they were given these particular titles, or if Pride, Greed, Envy, etc. were even known as the Seven Deadly Sins at the time the titles were given to them.

Beelzebub refers to them as "keywords", and we again establish it was the Demon King who gave these titles to the brothers. Diavolo says that if his father decided to give these titles to them, they must be important.

We know that the brothers were already exhibiting signs of their assigned "sin" even when they were angels, but as shown by Mammon's behavior in the past two lessons, the full force of each sin hasn't taken over all of them just yet. In fact, Mammon's greed has come out in a dangerous, powerful way as he becomes more of a demon.

It remains to be seen what, if any, relevance this has with MC losing their connection to the OG boys, but we know how they've changed by OG Season 1, where they fully embrace their sins.

We'll just have to wait and see!

For me the whole question of who is the rightful heir to the throne and the whole reason why I am team black all the way is very simple. Rhaenyra is the rightful heir to the throne because Viserys, who was the King at the time, named her his heir and he got all the lords to swear fealty to her when he did. The King's word is law, it really is that simple.

It's the same with the whole Jace, Lucerys and Joffrey debate, I don't consider them bastards and therefore excluded from inheriting lands and titles because Viserys, the King at the time declared them, publicly and on several occasions as legitimate and the rightful heirs. We know from the og show that a king has the power to make a bastard legitimate so if Viserys is standing up in front of witnesses and saying these boys are legitimate then they are legitimate end off.

Also whilst on the subject I have seen claims in the past that Rhaenyra is trying to trick poor Corlys and Rhaenys into believing that those boys are Laenor's and that makes her an evil bitch of a whore apparently. But here's the thing, those boys are Laenor's, like he claimed them as his own, both he and Rhaenyra referred to them as their boys. We know that Rhaenyra and Laenor tried and failed to conceive a child and so they looked to other methods of producing an heir. Look I don't really like using modern day constructs etc when talking about medieval set stories but I can't think of a better way of explaining what I mean, but the way I see it is like if a couple want a child but can't conceive so they get a donor, using this donor they are able to have a child. You wouldn't then go around and say that the father wasn't really that child's father because they weren't genetically related. So what we essentially have is a couple using a donor situation but set in a medieval fantasy society which complicates matters. Unlike in a modern setting where the couple could be open and honest about using a donor, Rhaenyra and Laenor could not but it still doesn't change the fact that the three boys were planned by Laenor and Rhaenyra and were seen as their children. This isn't a Cersei/Robert situation where Cersei was trying to pass Jaime's kid's off as Robert's without Robert's knowledge. Everyone involved knew what was going on and agreed to it. Laenor knew that genetically they were Harwin's, Harwin understood that legally and in all other ways those boys were Laenor's and not his. Yes Harwin was involved in their lives, yes Harwin clearly loved those boys, yes those boys were lucky enough to have two men in their lives who loved them and cared and protected them in a fatherly way, but that doesn't change the fact that they were still Laenor's sons. Rhaenyra chose Harwin to have children with because he was someone she trusted and cared for and who she knew cared for her, considering in their society if Laenor's sexuality was discovered or it was discovered they had used Harwin as a 'donor' to have their children, it could have really bad consequences of course she would want to chose someone she was sure would keep her secret.

I guess my overall point here is that its not as simple as Rhaenyra lied to Corlys, Rhaenys and her own boys about who their real father was, because their real father was Laenor. This situation came about because both Rhaenyra and Laenor were under pressure to produce heirs, so they found a way, together, of producing those heirs, so really when Rhaenyra tells her boys that Laenor is their father its the truth, he is in every way that matters. When she tells Corlys and Rhaenys these are your grandchildren, again its the truth. Because at the end of the day if Laenor himself knew and agreed with how those boys came to be and considered them his own, then its no one else's business how Laenor and Rhaenyra had those children, they are still their children.

Anyway I've rambled on enough and its 2am where I live and I should really be getting some sleep. But yeah, as far as I am concerned Rhaenyra is the rightful heir and her three eldest boys are the true sons of Laenor and are legitimate and the rightful heirs of the throne and driftmark, I will not budge on that. Alicent, the greens and everyone else just needs to mind their own damn business when it comes to those boys.

My version of Navier

Due to a high risk of burn out, the fix it fic I titled "They don't see it the way I do" won't be canceled but it won't be released in the form of chapters for a single fic anymore, instead I plan on making one shots/smaller length fics that still take place within my rewrites world.

And right now, while I work on a few one shots, I want to share how I write Navier.

Do I hate Navier? No, do I think she's a bad person? Yes. Does that make her a bad character? No, it actually is what I think makes her one of my favorite characters to write as a new interpretation.

Now, let's begin.

Background:

In the og story, we do meet Naviers family but we don't really know much about them. I don't remember if her parents had names but I've been referring to them as George and Johanna Trovi.

From birth, Navier was already being fed the idea that she may have been born with the curse of being a woman but she was a superior woman, far more important than even her own mother. She was born to the second most powerful house of Fahlgren (the new name I gave to the eastern empire) and was lucky enough to be born into a generation where it was safe to marry her off to the crown prince without a major inbreeding risk.

I imagined that Navier was raised with misogynistic beliefs in mind, basically thinking of herself as a woman's body being controlled by a man's brain. While she was destined to marry the crown prince, Sovieshu and bear his sons, she wasn't just a consort, she was a mentor to all other noble women, an example of what they should strive to be.

Intelligent, graceful, dignified, polite, always knowing the right decision, and most of all: Flexibility in all subjects.

You could say that Navier was one of the first examples of an attempt at feminism since she wasn't encouraging the ideas that women should be seen and not heard and only be used to make babies and nothing else but in doing so, she also was used as an example to push down other women for not meeting these standards and view said women as disgraces to their gender. It was never Naviers intention for her existence to teach other girls her age to hate eachother but that was the message that was pushed by her elders.

As a young child though, she was naturally more curious and prone to what would be considered improper behavior. She was taught well in mathematics, science, politics, finance and of course, religion and being so well taught meant she would ask questions that would annoy her governesses, such as "What truly makes me less feeble than other women?" Or "Why is it that inferior women are encouraged to be unique yet emulate the superior women?" But it was nothing that a simple cane couldn't smack out. Even though Navier was neurodivergent, she was on the side of the spectrum that was seen as acceptable as long as she was taught how to properly present herself, both to the empire and to her future husband and this lead to Navier masking so much that it started to become subconscious.

George Trovi was a well meaning man, he loved his little girl and was proud to call himself the father of such an extraordinary future empress. Navier was most definitely a daddy's girl growing up and it was him that even allowed Navier to attend diplomatic meetings with other high ranking nobles to give her a head start for when the real training of the empress position began. That said, he was not so generous towards his older son, Kosair and was stricter and less easily impressed by his feats. This was all George's weird way of showing his affection for Kosair, he wanted to teach him how to be a proper man even if that meant no sugar coating, in some ways, it was possible to say that George actually respected Kosair more than Navier since he cared this much about building his character ever since Kosair was old enough to walk wheras Navier was 10 before he made an effort to not treat her like an adorable pet.

Johanna was less attentive than George was with her children. Back in those days, it was common and even implored that noble mothers were to let their children be taken away from them and raised in a separate castle or manor by teachers until they were old enough to join the family. Johanna had untreated post partum depression as a result of being pressured to agree to hardly see her babies for many long years. She never got to form any bonds with her sor and daughter and treated them both with same amount of coldness.

Navier believed that her mother was simply teaching her another lesson, that attempting to forge long lasting bonds with a person you planned to be with for convenience only is ultimately pointless in the long run. Navier was well aware that her brother was only born to be an heir and she was only born to be an empress so it made sense to her that Johanna would care very little about her children which would contribute to why Navier would see her marriage as nothing more than a strict business deal.

As for Kosair, his relationship with his little sister was as normal as sibling relationships go. They played together, they argued from time to time, they had their playful pillow fights, all that. Kosair loves his sister but in my version, it's not Navier herself that drives him to violence, his sister represents the Trovi house as a whole and disrespect towards her is disrespect towards his entire noble house, thus his actions are less out of sibling love and instead out of rash political decisions to scare other nobles into stepping off of the Trovis turf.

Crown princess:

Navier was officially engaged to Sovieshu when she was 11 and he was 12. Both had received similar educations growing up including the same ideology that attempts to form any genuine relationship wouldn't matter in the long run so for the first year as eachothers fiance, they were indifferent towards eachother.

During this year, Navier had begun the second set of steps that would make her into the woman she will become. While at home she was praised as the most superior of all other ladies in her household, at the palace, she was taught that her feelings shouldn't come before the greater good. For example: She was made to only eat the bare essentials needed to survive and one of her lessons would entail her being starved for an entire day while a plate of food said to be for the emperor was set beside her while she studied. If she ate even a single crumb off of the plate, she would fail the test and be punished by getting no food at all the next day. If Navier didn't eat the food but attempted to bring it to Sovieshu, she would fail for attempting to bring her future husband a cold meal.

These kinds of lessons did not just teach Navier to suppress her own wants and needs, but they also taught her to think before she acted, to plan everything about her day out meticulously in order to reach the perfect solution/answer to any kind of problem. By the years end, Navier had mastered the art of not eating to the point where she would have to reminded multiple times to eat the actual lunch meant for her.

The second year as crown princess was when Navier got to know Sovieshu and the empress at the time who happened to be one of her fathers third cousins. Empress Alexandra was taught the exact lessons her future daughter in law was being taught and she was essentially a model of what Navier hoped to become once she grew up: A perfect woman, selfless yet intimidating. It was from Alexandra that she yet another lesson to expect as the next empress: Never rely on your husband to remain forever faithful. It wasn't as simple as just not forming a relationship with the groom, a woman seeing her husband find true love in a mistress cuts deeper than any other wound an empress may gain. The emperor is not just allowed but encouraged to seek out other women to relieve his stress and he can always have hope that he will find a woman he genuinely loves outside of the marriage of convenience but an empress is shamed and disgraced for even thinking about looking at the handsome fellow across the room, empresses are meant to be dignified and they are to uphold the values that all women in society should emulate, to find another man undermined all those values. Even if an empress isn't hurt by the infidelity itself, the reminder that she can never have the same opportunity absolutely will.

When it came to Naviers early relationship with Sovieshu, they did still become friends as they did in canon but their relationship in general was heavily inspired by characters like Clay and Bloberta, they probably would have been just perfect as friends but as stable lovers? Not so much.

Their friendship was tied to together by trauma bonding. From their own experiences with emotionally absent parents, to the kind of harsh punishments they served for bad behavior, to personal matters that didn't always match the others situation but still listened to their woes regardless, they could find solace in knowing that they aren't alone, but a romantic relationship built by trauma bonding doesn't last forever.

Aside from that, the two are more or less the same as they were in the Og source material, a mix of wholesome childhood antics of getting hurt/sick from running outside for too long and trust in each other, to be separate themselves from the previous generation, Sovieshu promised to be a faithful husband to Navier and Navier promised to help Sovieshu and Fahlgren until the day she dies, always helping, always making everything better again with her presence alone.

As an empress:

I really liked the idea of Navier being a bad person who only looked like she was morally sound because everyone else was just worse but instead of that being ignored entirely, I wanted to make it a point for one of Naviers biggest flaws: She is incapable of admitting when she did anything wrong because from her point of view, she can't be wrong, she is perfect, she was chosen by god to be the only woman with a man's brain.

By being raised with misogyny as a core mentor, Navier thinks she's doing what's best for her fellow women but in reality, she looks down on them much like a man would. The only reason the men in her life treat her with equal respect is because one of her biggest roles aside from standard empress responsibilities is to keep the "feeble" women in check, another woman is more likely to earn true respect rather than a man. Her ladies in waiting respect her the way they would respect their fathers or husbands and are ready to attack other women such as Rashta for not just the obvious reasons but because she represents everything they were taught to hate about their own gender.

Rashta represents the women who escaped from their situation instead of just shrugging her shoulders and going "thats just the way it is" she fled from not just an abusive estate but from another man, her slave owner, her rapist, the closest equivalent to a husband there was for a slave. Rashta contradicts everything that was ingrained into the noble women and the noble ladies hate her even more for it, hatred for Rashta is sort of like a way to distract themselves from coming to terms that the same divine right that blessed their families with wealth and territory is the same divine right that only permitted the men as actual people. To admire Rashta is to betray not just Navier but also their families, their friends and everything they were ever taught.

So when Navier notices her ladies in waiting attacking Rashta and shaming her. She does nothing because it assures her that the natural order was never wrong in the first place, it assures her that the suffering she experienced wasn't all for nothing.

Navier is also extremely ruthless in my version. Her tactics of recruiting allies are just as sneaky as Rashtas except shes smarter at it. One example is with a oc named Beatrice Roth, or rather, that was her name before signing away her identity to serve Navier.

Beatrice is Rylan Roths daughter and she was initially sent to the palace not long after rumors of Naviers infertility began to surface up, the goal in mind was to set Bea up with Sovieshu as a second wife since they were close enough in relation to keep the victs bloodline in power while also granting Rylan access to the imperial family through underhanded methods. Like most of Rylans bribes, Bea was planned to be sent back to her father before Navier took the chance to make Bea an ultimatum: She could serve her as a lady in waiting but in order to ensure that her father couldn't influence imperial affairs, she had to agree to cut off all contact, including abdicating as one of Rylans heirs and even changing her surname from Roth to Arwen, an offer that Bea eventually accepted since it didn't seem possible for anything better to come her way.

Navier doesn't even think she put an eighteen year old girl on the spot like that, from her perspective, she was saving Bea from her awful family even if it meant convincing her to forfeit any kind of political power or wealth she had, thus eliminating another potential problem by making her a hand maiden.

This isn't the only example of how ruthless Navier can be to not only control other people but also present herself to the public as a woman who only wants the best for everyone, such as: Convincing the public that she cares about the slaves by taking one of Nians slaves (Malori) and letting her work as a maid while also helping Nian recover her escaped slaves by sending a "rescue team" as she puts it, pardoning criminals/granting their families benefits if said criminals crime ended up delivering her a good outcome (she does that in canon with Viscount Landre), silently allowing Heinrey to torture nobles who possed a threat to her, though in her defense, she doesn't know the true extent of what Heinrey is doing to them, she just knows that they either come out on her side or they never return at all.

Anyway, that's how I write my version of Navier, really wanted to go for a character who couldn't possibly fathom that they're the problem but also truly had good intentions to protect herself and her allies even if her allies were garbage people.

I've been a big Lloyd fan since I started watching the show so seeing someone so bluntly state their hate for him is kind of a shock since I that he is generally liked by the fandom. Sure he has his flaws and stuff but I just wanna know why you dislike him.

Sorry it took a while to respond I've been very busy recently, but to answer your question-

So I don't hate him as a whole, there are even times where I can like his character. But my main issue is how he's written in the story more so then his actual character. So here's my reasons! (I cut it cause this was really long and I didn't want to make it an inconvince to scroll past also this was rushed and not beta read)

1.) Lloyd has heavy main character effect. Now this is to be expected since he sorta is the main character but my issue with this is that his character is so upheld that it over shines all of the other ninja where things are either A.) Handed to lloyd when other characters could have had it or B.) Directly take a trait that used to be one of the ninjas and gives it lloyd.

I have three main examples of this

1. Kai used to be the main character and was written decently well with good arcs and set up only for lloyd to replace him. This isn't me saying "Kai should have been the green ninja!" Cause it would have made the show worse if he was but it's saying that all of the core ninja got sidelined to fit his inclusion with Kai getting the biggest push away. (I mean the core 4 were well developed and all seen as equal to eachother in a sense in terms of power and relevance but lloyd comes in and suddenly the whole dynamic switches)

2.) The whole leader thing. Honestly lloyd was already- the chosen one, the main character, the strongest ninja and more and then they give him the leader title giving him even more material that could have gone to any of the ninja and would have helped them develop and show there strong suits instead of being reliant on lloyd (they grew out of that but still)

And 3.) Zane used to have really plot heavy visions, which made him stand out and have something special going for him before the writers completely erased that from the narrative. Then they proceed to give that trait to lloyd and give it all this attention and relevance along with using it to help write his character well when that was an og zane trait.

2.) He's a waste of potential.

Despite having 70% of the attention on him 24/7 he's somehow not written well. I mean that in the sense that their were plot points that could have been developed more that simply weren't and overall made him a worse character for it

The main gripe (and the most popular one) is all the oninlloyd stuff. We got nothing with that except for a 10 second cut scene before going back to the status quo. That whole season wasn't the best but lloyd might have been one of the worst parts of it cause there was all this build up for nothing. No lasting character change or anything that gave that character arc meaning imo.

Which brings me to 3.)

None of his character flaws are compelling

It almost feels like the writers are under a contract to make it so lloyds never allowed to have bad negative traits or do things that put him in a bad light.

All of his flaws are like "he pushes himself too much!" "He cares to strongly about things!" "He's too trusting!" And none of that interests me. Like look at how Kai had anger issues, he was rude and prideful and yet he got a good character arc and he was compelling cause of it. Or morro who had one season but we got a lot from him and his backstory.

In comparison lloyd is just a Cookie cutter goodie goodie who in the Fandom and writers eyes is an angel who does nothing wrong. Any time lloyd is threatened with having negative and more fleshed out traits it immediately gets sidelined for something else. When he does make a mistake it's always a sympathetic one where he isn't completely in the wrong he was just "put into a bad position nobody would be able to deal with" or something.

4.) The way the Fandom treats him.

No personal hate to anyone when I say this but with the way people treat lloyd in the Fandom and defend him makes it seem like he's 5 years old or something.

The constant infantalization (tomorrow's tea ruined his character from a Fandom perspective no lie) grinds my gears and I hate reading posts that will refuse to admit whatever rare wrong doing Lloyd's had and will instead hate on all.the characters he screwed over (primarily arin.)

People saying he's mentally 12 or younger than sora or arin pisses me off cause they refuse to admit that he's a grown man and should be held accountable for any wrong he commits. Instead they make lloyd never in the wrong and will treat the ACTUAL TEENAGER like trash or like he somehow hurt lloyd (a whole adult) more than lloyd hurt arin (a child). In general I hate sensei lloyd for multiple reasons but I don't want to drag this post even more (the end all and be all is that sensei lloyd is a physical representation of all the problems I have with his character)

Lastly I just personally get tired of him having the same issues all over again (my dad is evil and that hurts me, oh no new powers I can't control, I'm a bad leader and not competent enough ect)

There's no progression in his character and it's only temporary when it does happen and that sucks imo.

The fact that the closest thing we've got to an actual antagonist version of loyd that lasted more than 5 seconds was child lloyd pulling pranks on the ninja and stealing candy is insane-

spymaster, becoming the doctor, and gardening – a little character study

anyone else obsessed with the master and margarita short story?? no?? just me?? oh well you’re getting a character analysis anyway, long rant about spymasters obsession with the doctor via mushrooms under the cut :3

tw for dissociation and substance induced hallucinations (weird ahh mushrooms as torture)

for those of you who haven’t read the master and margarita (i def recommend its super fun) it’s about what dhawan!master was doing during his 77 years on earth in that time skip during spyfall 2. he’s a mushroom farmer in russia, crazy hijinks and thoschei references ensue. maybe i’m going too deep into it but i really love the idea of him as a gardener and what that implies for everything we see in ttc/potd

i’d like to start with the fact that out of all the masters, dhawans is the one least confident in his identity. classic who masters and saxon held their title with pride with their “he’s the master and you will obey him” shtick. missy, even when she was debating her morality, never saw herself as anything other than missy. her title wasn’t being questioned, it was what she chose to do with it. meanwhile, spymaster just... loses himself after looking into the panopticon. he’s faced with the reality that the doctor is more important than he could ever be, and given that he sees his worth as interwoven with hers (the history between us, constantly refers back to their past/when they were equal), this makes him lose all sense of self. it used to be theta and koschei. the doctor and the master. now it’s just the timeless child and….. that’s it. there’s no significant place for him in her life. what’s he supposed to do now, when he’s based his whole history around her?

easy! fracture himself into different personalities, hide behind disguises (i mean, THREE disguises in one episode? calm down dude) in an attempt to hide his unimportance. while the timeless child is the story of child abuse and colonialism, a hurt the doctor will have to live with even if she can’t remember it, the master sees it as a triumph. he is lesser. she is the timeless child and she has existed forever and he is some dumb timelord who fell in love and meant nothing to her in the long-run. he feels like he’s not deserving of being in his own skin anymore so he hides behind whatever name and personality he can find.

but the thing about all his disguises is that they are so human. agent o, a shy little analyst at MI6 with the wide eyed stare and wits to be the doctor’s companion. rasputin, famous bachelor and a piece of history the doctor would notice. he says he despises humans but he dresses up as them because well, do you know who does love them? the doctor :(

which is why his name and intentions in the master and margarita are soooo so interesting to me. first off, his human alias is mikhail (“son of god”, writer of the og master and margarita) afanasyevich (“immortal”, also the og writer of master and margarita) gospodinov (roughly translated to “lord” and “master”). he steals a name, just like rasputin in potd, with a lot of weight on who he is right now. an emphasis on “immortal” “time lord” when hes dealing with the pressure of ttc. hes basically copying the doctor and making a title for himself like the ‘timeless child’ to feel equal again. it’s not the only time he copies the doctor either, hes basically working for “evil russian unit” in this short story. 

(remind you of anything?? yes im talking about the doctor-master. super cool foreshadowing on how hes been trying to become/be one with the doctor before potd)

and it’s literally in the text. the whole reason he spends months cultivating mushrooms for russia is to change history a bit so that jo grant’s marriage will be ruined. such a Doctor thing to do, kind of parallels clara and danny. to love a human is to be overly dramatic over them. the master, again, uses humans for his own benefit but has never been overly fond of them, with the exception of the doctors little companions. hes copying her again.

but the thing is, he keeps cultivating them. he gains a love for caring for them. mushrooms are just mushrooms until they arent. in a time where he thinks he’s the doctors opposite, he begins farming mushrooms bc of jo grant, a detail the doctor would remember just bc he misses her. he couldve spent his time escaping and getting back to his regular timeline to defeat the doctor, but he stayed. because of a human attachment. very doctor-y.

and if that bit of nostalgia wasn’t enough, he even hallucinates the third doctor in this. Which. okay. give me a non-thoschei explanation for this.

i just really like what that short story has to offer as far as the masters obsession with other people and his disguises go. and what it means for him to spend months of his live caring for something, like the doctor would, when all hes done before is kill. what does it mean for the champion of death to cultivate life :(

It's time to talk about the moms

With last week's and today's episode we got a good look at the different ways in which the moms reacted to the news that their daughters are in love w each other so lets take a peek shall we

I will start with this picture of our lovely lady Uang

On patriarcal societies the women are in charge of the reproductive labor which not only means giving birth but also to educate children on how to fall in line with the satus quo, women serve the patriarchy by teaching their children to follow it's rules. We are social engineers, we take care of the social events, the family gatherings, home related issues, etc.

We can see this throughout the series, the women are preparing the food, the ceremonies, they're taking care of their children, their husbands and each other. AND they're making sure the men's wishes are fullfilled: mostly we've seen this in terms of preparing their daughters to be married off to whomever their fathers or another man (Kuea for example) wishes

This is alienating for women because we reproduct a social order that causes us direct harm so in a way we are taught to hate ourselves

Now on to the moms

Patt reacts in an a very violent way, she lashes out at Pin for not abstaining herself from her dessires cause a woman is not suppossed to act on her own wishes according to Patt and to society

Aunt Patt has a lot of internalized shame and she thinks Pin should too. This is related to 3 factors: class, gender and sexuality

The one that seem to be closer to the surface for her is the one related to class. Patt is also adopted, she is the og Loyal Pin, she feels overly indebted to the royal family. She is also literally their servant, she serves them with her reproductive labor (as I explained it before), she is the beacon of womanhood, and she has taught Pin to be the same as her

So when Pin falls out of line this triggers her own unresolved issues. Patt must have been really troubled by her feelings towards Im, they go against all she believes in. She has learned that she is inferior, that she should be grateful for what she has and not to wish for more

Patt believes -as Pin does cause she thaught her- that sacrifice is the way in which a woman can gain some sense of control in a society that takes away our right to choose. This is a self fullfilling prophecy, one gives up on one's destiny and that gives you a false sense of control

Alissa on the other hand is not so present on Anin's life (and her father doesn't seem to be either), I would argue that this is one of the reasons why Anin is not so lady like, cause she's been said to be raised by her brother so she didn't have such a prevalent feminine role model

Anyways, this might have actually given her a little advantage in the sense that she had more freedom to figure her own identity out

Alissa is very surprised and afraid when Anin comes out, she is adamant on sticking to thai customs and rules. And she reminds Anin that her marrying another woman simply has no place in their context AND she reminds her that se must marry someone OF HER OWN RANK, just like Patt reminded Pin

Alissa isn't rude to Anin, she seems to tackle the issue in a very matter of factly manner, she even goes to keep her company every night after Anin moves back to the palace

Alissa also seems to be particularly worried about mantaining the monarchy intact and therefore, the social and cultural structure. She even tells Anin what worries her most is her potentially giving up her title

Once again, the moms roles in all of this are mainly related to those dictated by the reproductive labor that they must perform for the patriarchy, and today's episode is a constant reminder of that, not just for the moms but for all of our girls 😢

do you have any lore for younger vlad and how he came to be who he is today? did he ever have an innocent human phase in his life 🤭🥺

I do have Lore for Younger Vlad! He never really had a human life of his own as the original vampires (Vlad is an original vampire) were the overworked, starving, potion-dosed spellcaster duplicates that went awry and somehow evolved into something completely different. It's also important to note that he was well into being a vampire during the Centuries War when the Spellcasters and Mooncasters (newly minted Werewolves) tried to eradicate and cover up the creation of "the undead abomination" that had broken free of any and all magical bonds that could have reined them back in — That conflict was over in the 1200s so he is extremely ancient and is the sole survivor of the original coven he used to lead. All others were killed in the war and Vlad as we know him would have been the only vampire in all of existence to present day had he not found and turned Caleb and Lilith in Ye Olde Tartosa sometime around 1215 before every side was forced to agree to a ceasefire or bring about the end of the entire universe as everyone knew it.

What he does remember about humanity is that the Count title is not bullshit. The Original Spellcaster he was duplicated from was born into Eshuavanian royalty and thus he is the rightful regent… technically. Kinda. He vaguely remembers that the Original Vlad, an extremely powerful Untamed Caster, was in league with Olive Specter because of course he was, and the two of them were tampering with numerous ways to become immortal so he could make the Sages immortal. OG Vlad barely got that done in the midst of the war… But he couldn't do it for himself before this Vlad grabbed him up in the middle of the night and had him impaled on a pike bearing a null rune. New Vlad left Original Vlad to slowly die outside the hut that would later become Straud Manor as decoration, a warning to other Spellcasters that if they stepped foot in the area that became Forgotten Hollow while he wasn't in Torpor, they'd be joining him.

He remembers he had a fantastic time gathering up rats from the nearby bog and purposefully underfeeding them, training them to slowly eat OG Vlad from the toes up just to make him suffer more for having the audacity to create New Vlad as a perpetual indentured servant and that OG Vlad was the Patient Zero he used to experiment wildly cruel methods on for funsies. He has heard rumors that the tortured spirit of his original form, once Old Vlad finally died, became a being known as the Night Wraith, which curses spellcasters until death and tortures them in much the same way he was tortured. He doesn't care, fuck all Spellcasters now and forever, he hopes they get cursed to death. The very short answer of if he has ever been innocent and human is a firm and resounding no, but that's what makes Vlad what he is. He has no interest in pretending to be 'human', he doesn't know what that means, and if being human means being anything like the casters that created him, he'd rather never know. He revels in feeding from them and though he doesn't have to kill, he still carries that grudge quite strongly and chooses to drain them completely.

If he hates Spellcasters why did he turn Bella? Well for one, she wouldn't be bound by the same clause in the treaty as he is and since Lilith turned out to be such an uncooperative pain in his ass, Bella could hopefully help him get the vampire species out of extinction-mode, but it goes deeper than that. Mortimer's cruelty and the sad reality of Alexander's innocence in all of it was the main catalyst for him choosing her as a bride. He could sense something in her, a lingering rage at the unfairness in the way she died that could very well become a feral hatred of the same people he hates... and what better trait could he ask for in a Countess than beauty beyond compare but with the same level of ruthlessness as him? Throw in a ready-made potential heir if she agrees to turn Alexander (who has no reason to side with the Spellcasters either) once he reaches the proper age... and you've got a pretty sweet deal.

That Night In Prague Rant

Let me start off by saying Hannah and Toby's story was amazing and heartbreaking, Libby and Nash were also sweet and supportive of one another, Xander is awesome at giving emotional depth to others even in the strange circumstance of tackling, and Secret Santa was quite literally a blast. But there's one story I haven't mentioned yet, have I? You know which one since it's the literal title to this rant/critique.

To get the basic pleasantries out of the way, I loved the promise ring scene, the way Jameson admires Avery lighting up and wanting to see the world through her eyes, the fact he wrote her postcards, and Avery's protectiveness of him. That's it. Great. Now we can get to the real stuff. My dear Jennifer Lynn Barnes, when you announced this book back in February during the month of romance, I recall that this book promised to deliver on ROMANTIC stories and showing us how a Hawthorne man loves. Why the heck did you keep trying to insert every possible wink wink nudge nudge moment possible in Avery's POV then?

When she stated Avery was gonna have a POV again, I was excited but I wasn't sure if I should leap for joy. See, given how Averyjameson were portrayed in the last book, I was somewhat disappointed since I really wanted to see Avery through Jameson's eyes in a more romantic light. It was an eyeroll, unfortunately, and what a missed chance for a wedding dress ref in the race outfit scene since he gave her a promise ring.

However, people were saying, ah, it's Jameson, he's a teenage boy. And ok, I did bite my tongue after that because alright, that's just him (though I am still bitter about his lack of development in TBH), but that wasn't the case with Avery. She's my girl, I can always rely on her, right? Three books of build up with a pretty solid character voice made her who she became in TFG. Cool, I was ready to go back. And as I said so many times before, she gave Jameson depth which helped us see what so many did not and I loved how she didn't let him get away with certain things. She was sensible.

WTF was this then? This is not Avery Kylie Grambs. This is A Very Random Imposter (you come up with the anagram). Imagine my fricken surprise when out of nowhere Jameson As A Girl appeared instead.

The crimes of the story: "after a lengthy and not quite G-rated negotiation" (WT actual F), "like his body wasn't tense in all the right ways", "smile of his made me want to do things", “I would let him demonstrate all the many, many reasons he had to be that smug", "His search had been... thorough" (????).

This sounds so cringey and unlike Avery. It felt like JLB was trying to force Max and Jameson and Rohan into her POV. Clearly after only two years of not being in her original character's POV and changing through 5 main characters (which was a horrible idea in the first place), she's managed to mish-mash her only properly developed character into sounding like another person.

The innuendos here are the worst I've seen. Avery has never been crass or sexually charged so why start that now? We already have characters that take on that route and now you're trying to ruin Avery with that? PUH-lease. Jameson was enough in TBH and now you're trying to ruin my girl? NO. Absolutely NOT. If JLB wanted to implement this in the og trilogy, then it should have been done earlier but no, Avery was never that girl and she shouldn't be now.

This isn't and cannot be listed as character growth in the slightest because if she sounded the same after a year in TFG post THL and also sounded like her normal self in Secret Santa which is in the same book as TNIP, there should be no reason why she sounds like this here. It ruins the continuation in her character POV which is something that at this point should be solid as stone. Not to mention, not everything works for everyone and that's ok. While I hate it, it makes more sense in Jameson's POV than hers. In Avery's POV, I cringe at it because it sounds so unnatural for her and feels like I'm looking at someone trying to fit into a crowd they just don't mesh with.

Three books solidified that. Why else did we fall in love with TIG in the first place? Partly because of who Avery was and who she became over the course of the trilogy. She stood out amongst the crowd. Did she have a similar way of thinking about puzzles like Jameson? Yes. Did she have a different approach to romance? Yes. Did she help Jamie become a more sensible guy? Yes! Was their flirty banter fun and interesting? Always. That's part of what made me love them so much in the first place but it shifted so suddenly that now they're sounding like Savannah and Rohan.

In October, when we had the preview of more chapters, I immediately noted this sounds like a very different Avery, either older or an alternate universe version of her. If she wants to do this with Rohannah, go ahead; they're a new budding romance so that has room for whatever she didn't use in other ones but leave Averyjameson as we've known them to be for three novels that solidified who they are. I know other romances should be given a chance, I never said that shouldn't be the case but if I'm being given the chance to see my favorite ship being in the spotlight, then do it right one last time. You have three books as your guideline.

Anyways, I'm dissatisfied so I will be doing a rewrite of TNIP since this is a shorter thing to take care of than a whole novel. Have a great day and thanks for reading. Fics will be out at some point, God, so much real life work to do.
