In Lesson 55, we hear from Solomon himself why MC's power suddenly increased.

He goes on to say that's not all, our power is also allowing us to generate magic power. But we can't tell anyone about this, because it would disrupt space-time, so we have to keep quiet.

It's clear that Barbatos is at least a bit aware though, considering he is the one who sent Solomon to the past after us...

So there were some interesting tidbits in Lessons 53+54, but one thing we want to discuss is the whole dilemma around MC's power.

Last time the story focused on MC and their power, it was all the way back in OG Season 2, when their power was literally destabilizing the Three Realms. But that whole matter was solved once MC got the Ring of Light, and for four seasons across two games and innumerable centuries, everything was all dandy again.

But not anymore~! ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ ୭ ˚.⁺⊹ .ᐟ

Suddenly, MC is casting spells without incantations, and seemingly without even intending to use magic. Apparently, MC's power is growing, and once again, it's now getting too powerful for us to control. Fortunately, this time, it's not causing massive inexplicable damage to major historical sites of the different realms, but it's still a problem for someone with so much magical power to not have full control over what that magic does.

So, what changed?

Well, we got sent to the past and ended up having to make pacts with the demon brothers all over again in order to get back to our own timeline.

Essentially, MC now has double-pacts with all the brothers.

We've already been told that time does not act in a linear fashion -- it's soup or mud. Even in the past, the power from the original pacts still existed to a certain extent; MC still had some limited magic and could still use "stay" on the brothers, but it was just more limited because MC didn't have those pacts "yet" in the past. Now that we're back in the present, the power of our second set of pacts with them has presumably traveled forward with us, and it seems we might perhaps be finally seeing the more serious consequences of our little trip to the past.

The question is -- where is the story going with this?

We have the whole situation of Simeon turning into a demon. We spoke before of all the ramifications this would have on the Three Realms. We even got a bit more in these lessons showing Raphael on the verge of a meltdown over it. Simeon's situation alone is a big conflict in the story.

But so far, that's all an entirely separate matter from MC's growing power. Plus, the teaser trailer for the season seems to have Lucifer saying, "Take my hand, master" and then shows a darkened partial image of Simeon, but Lucifer can't make a pact with Simeon if he becomes a demon, we already have a pact with Lucifer, and if overly powerful pacts are the problem for MC's magic, it wouldn't make sense to make another pact with Simeon next. And then, of course, there's the mysterious titular Nightbringer, whom we haven't seen or heard from in quite a long time now. So...what's going on?

We're unsure of where they're going with this, but Nightbringer did say back in the past that he wanted us to make pacts with all the brothers. So if this sudden increase in MC's power is a result of that, perhaps we'll finally find out what it is that he wanted?

So, it looks like a "mysterious force" 90% sure it's Barbatos pulled us into the past. We just...vanished.

Can you imagine the panic? The sheer terror when the pact was severed?

Mammon clawing at himself, trying to soothe this deep ache in his chest. Leviathan, with a deep-seeding anxiety in his gut, pacing in his room. Satan raging, turning the Devildom upside down to find you. Asmo calling all of his friends and fan club members, trying to identify the last person who saw you. Beel and Belphie venturing into town, calling your name, before discovering your cracked D.D.D. in an alleyway.

And, worst of all, that vauge sense of unease Lucifer has, before someone confirms his worst fears?

context: just a few somewhat angsty headcanons I have for when MC and Solomon return to the present after everything, enjoy!!

MC will often become more hesitant to talk to or even engage with the brothers. Due to being treated as an attendant in the past they now are used to it, so whenever one of the brothers tries to engage with them they find it hard to sit still or listen to said brother for long periods of time without feeling out of place.

MC will often mix up the fact that they are an exchange student rather than an attendant. When Diavolo claims that he wants MC to feel comfortable as an exchange student MC will respond with something along the lines of how they don’t need much because they’re the brothers attendant. Which in return gets a few confusing stares from others.

MC still carries out some of their duties as an attendant unconsciously. Such as keeping track of the brother’s schedules, events, student council meetings, etc. The brothers don’t mind at first however what they do find unpleasant is the fact MC always follows behind them instead of right beside them like they used too. This doesn’t register until one of them says something to MC, which they in turn respond with “I always follow behind all seven of you”. Which makes their hearts sink.

Still focusing on the attendant duties, MC will still continue to carry out anything asked of them without much of a fight. Since they were so used to carrying out such elaborate things when watching over the brothers in the past they are now used to doing such tasks for them. Most of the time this will confuse most of the brothers because MC is usually more vocal with their opinion on something.

MC will unconsciously be a bit harsher and stricter on the brothers than they usually were. Since being their attendant MC had to keep each of them on a tight leash so they wouldn’t get into trouble. So now in the present if they were to start fighting MC would be the first to show up to scold them instead of Lucifer.

MC will just straight up be petty with Lucifer for a while. Due to the things he said while they were in the past they still haven’t completely forgiven him. So whenever Lucifer mentions his “family”, MC finds themselves saying some remark along the lines of “well that doesn’t include me” or “just the seven of you I know. I leave you all alone” is enough to confuse and hurt the hell out of him. MC knows that Lucifer does really care for them in this timeline, but they can’t help it. His words really did hurt them deeply for awhile.

On another topic of MC’s attitude, Diavolo soon realizes that they are much more formal with him. The cute nickname Dia was dropped and he was always referred to by a title now. When Diavolo questioned them about formality MC simply explained that the past Barbatos didn’t like them referring to Diavolo in such a manner.

MC is now more vigilant around Satan, Belphegor and Barbatos, each for different reasons.

Satan is one that worries MC the most because they became used to having to deal with his violent outbursts and destructive episodes. So when Satan gets angry in the present MC will step in front of him and the brothers separating them. Satan soon grows confused when MC prepares a spell to restrain him.

Belphegor doesn’t worry MC as much as the other two, but after he found out they were a human in the past and tried to kill them again in response MC had to remain vigilant. They still do whenever they are alone with him. Which in turn makes the youngest guilty about the past.

Barbatos is someone MC keeps Solomon away from at all costs. After all MC was used to Barbatos teleporting the sorcerer around from place to place. It did become concerning when Solomon would show up later and later each time he came home. So to avoid that MC would make themselves and Solomon avoid the butler at all costs. However the present butler soon finds this behavior hurtful when MC constantly declines his offer to come over. In the end MC has a hard time remembering that this isn’t the past Barbatos.

Many soon noticed the strong bond MC now has with Solomon and of course they all become jealous. At first they noticed how MC would go to him for little things, or just prefer to be around him more, but when they asked about moving in with him rather than staying in the House of Lamentation it threw everyone for a loop. It made it even worse when MC said they’ll be there to help the brothers every morning like usual. They wanted MC to realize that they’re an exchange student not an attendant.

Many also notice how reliant they are on Solomon for certain things. Sometimes MC just needs Solomons presence in a room to be able to feel comfortable. If not MC will then become slightly annoyed or fidgety.

Solomon becomes more protective over MC without even realizing it. If he believes one of the brothers are being too bothersome to MC he will step in and whisk them away.

Solomon finds it easier to steal MC’s attention away now. Before when he would try and drag them away from the brothers, or even try and steal their attention for just a second it always failed. However with how close they both became in the past, if Solomon interrupts a conversation MC is having with the brothers MC finds themselves listening to him a bit more than the brother they were speaking with.

MC is much more reckless and blunt with their decision making now. Before they were a bit more collected with their thoughts. However being in the past made their impulsive decision making become a habit. Thus causing the brothers to sometimes question MC methods.

MC would often question the brothers as to why they weren’t in their demon forms. They suppose they just got used to seeing them in those outfits for so long now it became the norm.

Call me delusional but the moment we fell I had this quick thought of "what if Michael shows up and saves us???" like imagine this being his offical reveal:

MC: *gets too close to the edge and falls*

Brothers: MC!!! *collectively panic, the ones with wings already going into their full demon forms, ready to jump and grab them*

Michael: *raises in the sky suddenly, flying with MC in his arms, holding them like this*

Michael: *flies down to the brothers* Now now, rest easy my brothers, I've caught your little human...

Michael: *puts MC on the ground, briefly petting their head before retracting his wings, smiling angelically at the brothers* Welcome to Babel.

Brothers: *were a second away from having a stroke, now seeing their brother who they haven't met in a whole millennium* ARRG WEJDKDKSKS

Solomon Keeping An Eye On MC’s Alliances

Solomon is more or less saying that the human world comes even before his love for MC and that he will do his best to ensure MC doesn’t favor the Devildom. The sorcerer’s society are keeping an eye on MC for the same reason.

Diavolo and Lucifer are both wary of Solomon because of the influence he has over MC. Whatever world MC chooses will tip the scales in its favor and Solomon is basically threatening to go to war or manipulate MC’s opinions over it in the most subtle way he can.

MC: ..... *sets down their phone*

MC: I know what I must do.

*one hour later in the House of Lamentation, Mammon walks up the stairs to go get Satan for dinner, just to find their attendant already waiting outside of the fourthborn's door... putting on a bike helmet?*

Mammon: *walks up beside them, frowning* Eh? MC? Is that a helmet?

MC: *locks in the straps and makes sure they're secure*

MC: Yep.

Mammon: .... Okaaaaay? Are ya goin' cyclin' or....?

MC: Nope.

*the MC brings their hand up and bangs it against Satan's door before jogging to the far wall. They take just a few seconds to stop, flip around, and get into a running stance*

Mammon: What the hell are ya-??

*Satan swings open his door with a look of growing annoyance, prompting MC to start sprinting straight at him*

Satan: Huh??

*The blonde barely has time to process to what's happening before the MC goes airborne and careens head first into his chest, rocketing them both back into his bedroom*

Mammon: WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!?!

*Mammon runs through the doorway and finds Satan sprawled out flat on his back with MC half on top of him, dazed. MC sits up and rubs their neck while he remains still*

MC: Ooooww... that hurt.... I told you it was dangerous.

Mammon: MC, why did you do that?! Are you insane?!? Get outta there he's gonna-!! He's...! gonna.....?

*Mammon watches in disbelief as Satan not only stays still, but slowly gets redder and redder from the tips of his ears down to his cheeks. Eventually he has to resort to masking his face behind his hands entirely while MC triumphantly grins*

MC: Was that what you wanted~?

Satan: *finally sits up, unable to look them in eye*

Satan: Please don't do that again...

Mammon: *watches the scene, getting more confused by the second* .... Y'all are weird. Come downstairs and eat already!
