My little love, from her first few days with me, where she cleverly instantly launched an attack on my mom's feelings by cuddling up to her feet...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
... to her last year, sleepy and so much more shy (I was astounded to find so many pictures of her small playing with my toddler nieces and cozying up to various family members, I'd forgotten she used to be so social!).
Trigger warning: pet death
I'm pretty sure she was only in pain and confused for one day, it was blessedly fast. We spent the entire day with her, me sitting as close to her as I could when she kept hiding under furniture, and my mom and niece playing board games on the bed so I wasn't alone. When we went to the vet for the second time that day he told me I could take her home and she'd die during the night, but I couldn't bear the thought that she might be in pain or be scared, so I asked him to put her under. I told her I loved her to the very end but I think she was already too far gone to really know I was there. :/
I had been so stressed out for so long, about her and other things, and I had a big work event coming up that I was dreading with all my being, and I dearly needed a hard reset... and I guess always be careful what you wish for because her death granted me the break and the clarity of thought I so badly needed. She was also kind enough to leave me while I was being surrounded by family so I did not have to go through this and the aftermath alone. And she made me realize I did not want to continue carrying this absurd amount of stress around, and that some things needed to change.
I also won't lie, I had been growing increasingly worried about her health for over a year and through the pain and the loss, it is a huge relief to know that she's forever safe from harm.
Still I miss her dearly and I'm pretty sure my brain thinks she's just spending time in another place, most times it just feels like she's not here, not that she's gone forever. I'm looking at years of pictures to select a few to print out, and I still sleep with the bed cover she'd gotten last Christmas because I'm not about to erase every trace of her like she'd never existed.
She was my best pal for almost 17 years (she'd have been 17 next Wednesday), through my best and worst times, and all she ever asked of me was to feed her and hold her back paws while she slept.
I loved her so very much and I just hope that she knew I did, up to the very end. 💔

I feel like modern au zuko can drive, is very good at it, has his license, and will get you where you need to go but like. with very dangerous efficiency. he drives like Evel Knievel. he drives like a bat out of hell. he whips the wheel hard as fuck and you will see Jesus even if the drive is from your house to the corner store. his car is used and like 10 years old but she is strong and loyal just like her master and wont break down for anything. she'll tear over anything in her path. zuko has given iroh so many mini heart attacks while driving him around (<- because iroh does NOT have his license). worst of all is that zuko does NOT talk or road rage ever when he drives he's DEAD SILENT and simply blasts the radio. and its always either terrifying Chinese opera or crazy shit like Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd

Literally begging anyone who can vote in US elections to vote, and to vote against Trump. Which means voting for Harris, not abstaining or voting third party.
My family actually did move here from an authoritarian country, where voting literally didn't matter, they literally did throw out your vote, and they literally did assassinate citizens who spoke out against them.
We would all very much like to keep living in a country where those things are not the case!
You know, the same things that Trump and his stooges have openly said they want to do. And two of the main propaganda lines for why people in the US shouldn't vote, which is a lie.
Voting matters. The parties are not the same.
And make sure to vote in down-ballot races!!!
And like. The fact that voting matters in the US is a very real reason for hope. It is something you should genuinely appreciate. We can make a difference.
And a lot of people risked their lives or even died to earn that right, and it's a right not everyone has.

Gentle reminder that very little fandom labor is automated, because I think people forget that a lot.
That blog with a tagging system you love? A person curates those tags by hand.
That rec blog with a great organization scheme and pretty graphics? Someone designed and implemented that organization scheme and made those graphics.
That network that posts a cool variety of stuff? People track down all that variety and queue it by hand, and other people made all the individual pieces.
That post with umpteen links to helpful resources, and information about them? Someone gathered those links, researched the sources, wrote up the information about them.
That graphic about fandom statistics? Someone compiled those statistics, analyzed them, organized them, figured out a useful way to convey the information to others, and made the post.
That event that you think looks neat? Someone wrote the rules, created the blogs and Discords, designed the graphics, did their best to promo the event so it'd succeed.
None of this was done automatically. None of it just appears whole out of the internet ether.
I think everyone realizes that fic writing and fanart creation are work, and at least some folks have got it through their heads that gif creation and graphics and moodboards take effort, and meta is usually respected for the effort that goes into it, at least as far as I've seen, but I feel like a lot of people don't really get how much labor goes into curation, too.
If people are creating resources, curating content, organizing the creations of others, gathering information, and doing other fandom activities that aren't necessarily the direct action of creation, they're doing a lot of fandom labor, and it's often largely unrecognized.
Celebrate fan work!
To folks doing this kind of labor: I see you, and I thank you. You are the backbones of our fandoms and I love you.

Cross-stitch really does make you reconsider whether or not you understand basic maths. Like yeah, I know the difference between 4 and 5, definitely. Ignore me as I undo several stitches.

I cannot express enough that if your reaction, as a hobby artist, to not getting that many notes on your art is to say "maybe I should just stop doing art altogether" you need to stop posting art to tumblr
not necessarily forever, not even for long, but just stop putting your art on here and start doing it for you again, remember why you enjoyed doing art in the first place and stop relying on the attention of faceless people on the internet for your enjoyment of your hard work
believe me, I get it, nothing crushes the artistic soul quite like labouring for hours on a piece only for it to get like 10 notes, so you need to find your own source of joy in the act of creation and a lot of the time that means making art and not showing it to anybody

Love your art so much. Will you show us cool nature pics from your country? I'm literally so stoned I forgot where you live sorry.
Sure anon, why not. I'm not a photographer so the quality of these is kind of slushy at best. I like nature and wander around a little bit, but I rarely hike properly, so I don't go to that many scenic places. These are mostly from regular walks. Long post warning.
Summers are short but very green, and since we're at the arctic circle we get sunlight around the clock. Some of these were taken at midnight or early morning small hours. Most of Finland is very sparsely populated and covered in boreal forests.

Finland is a very watery country, lots of lakes in particular.

Sometimes you get intense sunsets
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And winters are very cold, snowy and last about six months. In summer we have midnight sun and in winter there's the polar night to counter it. Around late December sun only rises for about two hours per day where I live so it's very dark for many, many weeks on end (which is wonderful if you get seasonal depression like I do). But sometimes the weather and lighting are just right and you get this ethereal pastel effect that I love.
