Pike's best friend from the academy (played by Timothy Olyphant, who auditioned for AOS Pike, fyi) visits the Enterprise. Right under Pike's nose, everyone on the crew is fawning over his friend, who some people used to say looked so much like him that they could be brothers. His crew going nuts for his friend is going to give him a complex... Even Number One appears swept off her feet, Spock seems unusually anxious to get the man's opinion on the latest spacial anomaly, and even La'an's security protocols about him are suspiciously lax. What does it all mean? [Hint, it means everyone on the crew also harbors secret crushes on Pike but keep it under wraps.]

Despite being among humans for close to a decade, I still find their tendency to overcomplicate and avoid aspects of social situations to be confusing at best and infuriating at worst. So much time is wasted on tedious matters such as who gets to 'make the first move' or 'not come off too strong'.

For example, everyone aboard my vessel is keenly aware of Lt. Uhura and Engineer Scott's 'budding romance'. But their need to extend their oddly avoidant courtship ritual, rather than outright state their interest in one another, is pointless, as well as frustrating to witness.

Why do they do this? Why not 'get it over with', as they say?

I encourage answers from all cultures, human or otherwise.

I can’t believe we have to wait to 2025 to get more Captain Pike content. We know the medal of valor is named after him. We know he’s gonna heroically make peace with the Gorn somehow or otherwise resolve the conflict maximizing saving lives, and he’ll do it with perfect hair and those perfect dimples on his cheeks. Let him cook for his beloved crew. Let him get all the hugs.
