Oh yeah, I did miss a few songs from the collection. Since his interjection version is actually in Yakuza 0′s karaoke, I figured people would have translated / transliterated it already, but then I remembered it’s not the full song. So, here you go!

Performing: Why Did I Fall in Love with You by TVXQ  (1:23-3:13)

It had taken all of his strength to not burst out into happy tears when he heard his name being read out as a contestant that was continuing their journey. He was going to be able to perform again. Myungsoo hadn’t really believed in himself and was certain that he would be going back home with sad news, but he was certainly proud of being given another opportunity. Entering the recording studio the second week felt a bit more shocking; for some reason, he hadn’t expected the amount of chairs to make the space feel so much smaller and intimate. 

Walking in with heavy feet and feeling quite empty this week sans his guitar, he chose a seat all the way at the end of the row on the right side towards the bottom. Myungsoo saw a few familiar faces and tried smiling and bowing to a few people, but for the most part he went ignored. Sighing, he chewed on his lip as more and more hopefuls filtered into the room. The seat that was directly next to him was occupied by somebody he didn’t know at all. In fact, he hadn’t even really remembered them from the last round. (It was so hard watching 99 other performers besides yourself)

When the CEOs came in to sit in their seats, Myungsoo stood up and clapped again, bowing in their direction. The cameras started rolling and Myungsoo had a dimpled smile on his face, trying to be as reactive to people’s performances as he could. He wanted not only to be supportive to people he was familiar with, he wanted to make sure that everybody felt like they had an audience. Even the most boring performances, Myungsoo would make sure to give a healthy round of applause and an encouraging smile. 

Myungsoo was competing in one of the most populated skills, singing. There were a healthy amount of dancers and rappers but the competition was overflowing with singers and Myungsoo was not too sure he would be able to stand out that much. He had gone back and forth over using his guitar again, but ultimately decided against it. His guitar was much like his crutch and it made him comfortable, but he was afraid that he was going to be too predictable if he kept using it.

Seemingly more nervous this time, but with a blinding smile, Myungsoo took the stage when his name was called. Standing in the center, he bowed towards the judges and his fellow contestants before speaking, “Hello everybody. It’s me, Kim Myungsoo! You may or may not remember that last week I performed with a guitar, but today I’m planning on doing something a bit different. I hope you enjoy my version of ‘Why Did I Fall in Love with You’ by TVXQ.”

As his backing track started up, Myungsoo placed his hand over his heart and looked down at the ground as he started his first line. He gradually lifted his head to make eye-contact with the camera, and when you did you could already see tears forming in his eyes. This song was very emotional about a person losing the one that they loved, a big contrast to the song he picked last week where he was happily singing about an innocent crush and wanting to fall in love with a person. What Myungsoo was displaying this week was pure heartbreak. Most viewers probably wouldn’t be able to understand the lyrics, because they were in Japanese, but Myungsoo thought that if he was emotional enough that anybody would be able to feel his heartbreak.

Feeling more confident after singing the first chorus, Myungsoo began to wander around the stage more instead of just staying in one spot. Last week, he was fixed to the middle of the stage because he was sitting but today he wanted to make more use of the vast space. He would try and make eye-contact with anybody who was looking at him, men included, and try to convey the love he felt through his big, expressive eyes.

After walking around the stage a bit and working with his crowd to try and make them feel what he was feeling, Myungsoo collapsed to his knees in the middle of the stage and closed his eyes before hitting some very high notes in the song. He had to work to hit some of these notes, and he thought that if he distracted his audience with something abrupt they wouldn’t notice the way his voice would shake a bit as he worked up to it.

Myungsoo stood up slowly, and when he opened his eyes again to look at the camera there were tears freely flowing down his cheeks. While he was singing, he couldn’t help but think of Sungyeol and of course he pictured if he was ever in a situation where he had to watch his lover be together with somebody else. That sort of emotion absolutely terrified him, being the romantic that he was and already falling so deeply in love with somebody who he had barely known a few months before. However, he tried to keep his emotions in control enough so he would be able to deliver the soft but impactful last few lines of the song. Smiling through his tears, he sang.

As he held out the last note, Myungsoo bowed for his audience and wiped the tears off of his face. He knew he had to vacate the stage with haste for the next performer to prepare but Myungsoo managed to speak into the microphone one last time before he left, “Don’t worry, I only cried because I got into the performance! I’m not sad!” He didn’t really know why he felt the need to clarify that, but he giggled to himself as he handed the microphone off to a staff member.

Feeling much more relieved and a bit more confident now that his performance had finished, Myungsoo knew that he had given his all and delivered a performance the best that he could. He would just have to leave his fate up to the judges and hope that they enjoyed his extremely public show of emotion.

Angerme's Takeuchi Akari talks about her love for Hello! Project with "20 Questions"!

In 2018, Hello! Project is celebrating its 20th anniversary, so we’re starting a celebratory serialization for it! From the members of Hello! Project, their feelings and thoughts towards the 20th anniversary and activities up until now, as well as enthusiasm towards 2018 and the everyday thoughts of idol life; we did a “20 questions 20 Answers” talk~ This time Angerme’s Takeuchi Akari is appearing!

Takeuchi Akari = Born November 23 1997, Hometown Saitama. Bloodtype O. 2nd Generation Member. Sub-leader. Nickname Take-chan.

Q1: Tell us the meaning of your name

My grandpa gave me the name. My grandpa runs an electronics store, so he wanted to give me a name relating to electricity; I heard that “Akari, Hikari, Hikaru” were all candidates. I think my mother wanted to give me a cute name, so out of the three it seems like she thought “Akari” was good!

Q2: What senior do you aim towards?

Former C-ute’s Yajima Maimi-san. Yajima-san was the reason I wanted to join Hello! Project in the first place, I’ve always been aiming to be like her. Now her group has disbanded and she is not nearby, but from long ago I was always watching her and I don’t think that will ever change.

Q3: Who would you want to be reborn as?

Berryz Koubou-san’s Kumai Yurina-san. Kumai-san is tall and I heard her talking about how she doesn’t get buried on crowded trains; I want to ride crowded trains like Kumai-san!

Q4: What do you think you are the best at within Hello! Project?

Calligraphy. I’m at the adult semi-2nd stage! I have the qualifications to teach elementary students, I have confidence that it is a skill only I have. I taught member Kamikokuryo Moe-chan pen characters, it was super fun (It was really easy to understand what she taught, soon after my characters were clearer! ※What Kamikokuryo-san said). I try to write them once a month, I like to think about what character to write. I don’t write the same character. Recently with Angerme’s Budokan performance goods towels and the like, I’ll wrote the title on the towel. My dream is to someday open up an exhibition!

Q5: Tell us something amazing about Hello! Project!

Singing live, performing, we can challenge anything! We are strong. We sing a variety of song genres, it is interesting that we have a rich variety of songs.

Q6: Who would you want to have Hello! Project special unit with?

Of the same Hello! Project Kenshuusei generation as me, Morning Musume ‘17’s Fukumura Mizuki-chan. We are close because we’re from the same generation, I’d like to do anything together.

Q7: Tell us an Angerme song you like!

“Nanakorobi Yaoki”. There had never been a song like it before. It was Angerme’s first song that had dancers and vocalists as being separate parts; it was a song that was a new challenge for the group. The song and the dance, I really like it in total. When you see it there are various things to enjoy.

Q8: What is a song you like in all of Hello! Project?

I’ve liked C-ute-san’s “Campus Life ~Umarete Kite Yokatta~” since long ago. I would listen to it daily when I went home from school in elementary. Even now I’ve always liked it! When I heard it live I would think “Yay!”. Recently I also like C-ute-san’s “Singing ~Ano Koro no You ni~”. The song came out right after they announced their disbandment; the lyrics are moving. It is a song Tsunku-san wrote the lyrics to from watching C-ute-san so it is moving; after their disbandment I’ve listened to it every day.

Q9: What is the difference between current and previous Hello! Project?

Everything about the performances have changed. In the past, it was soft and cute, there were a lot of cool songs with comical noises put in. Recently I think it’s like ‘are they idols?’  as the rock-like songs accumulate. The choreography now has a different feel from the past. In the past, they were easy and could be imitated, there was a lot of choreography that was so everyone could enjoy it together; recently no one can imitate it, we are doing a lot of the choreography by ourselves.

Q10: Other than yourself, who is your oshi within Hello! Project?

Yanagawa Nanami (Juice=Juice/Country Girls). I’ve thought, ‘that girl is a mystery-girl,’. She has an old-fashioned atmosphere but she is still young, I’ve thought ‘she really knows her vocabulary~’ as she uses difficult words, she doesn’t use young-sounding words at all. I want to know her more, she is a junior that I want to find out more about.

Q11: What do you want us to see most in yourself?

My powerful dancing. I like E-girls, I’ve thought that I want to dance cool like they do, from long ago I’ve copied them, I watch various peoples dancing, and I come up with a way to do it as if it is my own. It is the number one thing I’m doing my best in.

Q12: What is work you would like to challenge?

I like television work. I’ve gotten to appear solo a bit, since it was fun, I want to do my best to appear on more programs solo!

Q13: What do you want us to see most from Angerme?

Lives. Our friendliness comes out at lives!

Q14: What will you be doing in 20 years?

I’d want to have built a good family. Because my own family is so much fun and are like my friends, I want to make a family in the same sense. Also, I want to open a calligraphy cram school; I want to teach children.

Q15: Since it’s the 20th anniversary, tell us a secret!

Because the senior/junior relationships are strict, I had been taught about since I entered elementary school. The relationships in Angerme are loose but, the order we get in a car and the order we get bentos in are strict. I think that it is severe even if we are in the same age group, but as I grew into an adult I became thankful for it. I thought ‘another thing to add to Tsunku-san’s greatness!’.

Q16: After the 20th anniversary what is something you want to do?

Angerme has the system of those graduating and entering, but even after one year I don’t understand it. The thought of the new members accumulating and it becoming a new lineup leaves my heart racing. But I want to say that the situation is a good thing. The two new members are gradually showing their appeal, and now I’d like to make an even better group than before. The members will accumulate and I think that it is nice that these new members will help wake up and synergize Angerme.

Q17: What would you be doing if you weren’t an idol?

I’d be playing around! Many of my twenty year old friends go out at night playing around and going to karaoke…is what I have heard, so I’ve thought that if I wasn’t an idol I would be doing that too. I’d also like to travel. I’d want to go sight seeing!

Q18: What are you into right now?

Going to vintage shops. The members got me into vintage clothing; I was invited to go vintage clothes shopping with Sasaki Rikako-chan. If there is a rare item, it may be your one chance to meet that good item so you have to buy it. I went today as well (lol).

Q19: Who do you get along with in Hello! Project?

Morning Musume ‘17’s Fukumura Mizuki-chan. On the day of Mizuki-chan’s birthday, I had thought about heading home and was going to the nearest station.  I coincidentally ran into her going to her own birthday event! Since it was peculiar, I hurriedly decided to go to Mizuki-chan’s event.

Q20: What is an idol to you?

Just from watching their lives, they have the presence of being people that can bring happiness. It is be nice to be that.
