Also it's fucked up to yell at members of marginalized communities for acting within the two party system and not burning it all down when you don't have a plan. People are not your fucking sacrificial lambs to skewer and roast on a stick

I really wish we knew more about Patch, specifically how everyone who’s NOT the Rose-Xiao Long-Branwen family lives there.
Because while we’ve seen roughly how they live, I suspect it’s not fully the norm. They’re mostly isolated, in a pretty quiet area, and with notably no defense against Grimm — which is fine for them since they’re a family of Huntsmen.
But even if Patch is home to Signal Academy, I doubt that everyone there has combat training. That’s just not a sustainable way for a town to be. More likely, there’s natural defense as there is in every kingdom plus some construction, and that buys time and advantages for the Huntsmen they do have — which might be more abundant than in some places, but still won’t be universal. We see plenty of towns like that in Mistral.
But I also wonder about whatever town Patch has, given that one girl on a video call on the CCT in Volume 2 was heard saying:
“Hey mom, how are things back in Signal?”
Now, “at Signal” would make me assume the mom of this random background character is a teacher. “In Signal” implies a town — and that it’s where most people live. I think the Rose-Xiao Longs claiming to be from Patch means they’re pretty isolated from whatever the actual town is.
Signal is both the combat school and the main settlement, kind of like some college towns, while Patch is the island itself. And Ruby and Yang claim they’re from Patch and not Signal because their area is comparatively pretty isolated.

Okay what’s your Mr. Reed wife theory?
Where to even begin! This is purely just a theory based on what Hugh Grant said about Mr Reed's secret backstory and I'm just running with it.
According to him, he has suffered a great loss and it was a huge catalyst to why he began doing what he did. So who exactly did he lose? The first to come to mind was his ACTUAL wife.
Although yes, he kept bringing her up to make an illusion of safety to the Sisters, but Hugh played it just a little bit deeper than just that. I like how it's left extremely ambiguous whether he's delusional about having a wife, suffered such a great loss he still thinks about her being present, or just flat out lying as he was with the pie. But I do think however;
1) His random assorted "Hubby" items, his wedding ring, his wife being his "soulmate", and his constant mentions of her are just a little bit too much to be total lies. It comes to him way too naturally. He is practically obsessed with his hypothetical wife, and talks about her very lovingly.
2) He does not see the Prophets as his wife. He makes no implications of this whatsoever, he doesn't talk to them/about them the same way as his "wife", he more so just treats them as something he could play with. However if he DID have a wife, surely his creep self would channel losing her into this....
3) If we do take his hypothetical wife helping him to build the house, his church, she must have been either religious, or had a strong interest in theology herself. Judging Mr Reed's type, I'm inclined to say she was religious. The ONLY display of personal religious items you will see in his house are an altar with decorated crosses at the very back of his library behind his big bookshelves. She may have been Christian, perhaps Catholic considering the style of "church" the library was turned into, and the style of veils he makes his Prophets wear.
4) His reaction to Barnes mentioning her dead father is also very telling. He asks whether she sees any signs of him, and upon hearing she doesn't, he looks somewhat surprised. We know he's been a theology professor, but according to him he started spiraling about the whole matter of the "truth" about 10 years ago. Maybe he was searching for signs of her himself, which brings us to;
5) Fire. I hope no one believed he believed in simulation theory, right? Paxton immediately debunked he doesn't, yet we don't find out what he ACTUALLY meant by fire reacting. Maybe the signs he sees from his wife are hidden in the fire. His demeanor completely changes when we bring fire into the equation and it becomes apparent how unstable he REALLY is. Fire distracts him, almost triggers him, and he spirals. We will never know what he meant by that.

Honest question: where is all this "bad" bisexual representation on network tv that people keep referring to? Like, I understand that there are stereotypes that people believe could be reinforced with particular representations, but I keep seeing the implication that bad rep already exists and is constantly reinforced on network tv. And just. I actually can only think of two single bisexual characters from network shows off the top of my head, and I don't believe either were represented poorly. Neither were constantly sleeping around, they weren't framed as indecisive, I believe both were generally shown as monogamous and interested in long-term relationships, regardless of the gender of their partners (as an aside, I don't think any of these things would have made them bad rep, but these are the "bad" stereotypes I see discussed most often).
So like, have I just missed a bunch of representation? (Totally possible, honestly.) Because this narrative that all bisexual rep has been bad is a weird one to me.
And I mean, I would generally argue that queer rep on network television is overly sanitized and kind of obnoxiously heteronormative in an attempt to make it "acceptable" for a general audience. But I don't think that's what people are referring to, and it's honestly a little disheartening to see fellow queer people arguing for these overly sanitized representations to appease non-queer audiences. Queer rep does not (and should not) mean all queer characters adhere to an acceptable heteronormative standard (one that heterosexual characters are NOT beholden to, by the way) in order to be considered worth of representation, and trying to pretend like all queer rep must uphold "good" moral standards to make it palatable so that bigoted people accept queerness if it's done the "right" way is not helpful to the community, actually.

Is there a specific reason why Yaz wasn’t able to pick up the phone when Sammy was calling her so many times on her way to Wyoming? Is the reason the cell service is horrible or was Yaz not deciding to pick up?
I don't think the writers made a specified reason for her not picking up -- perhaps just to add to the drama of "we're all in danger", and the humor of the scene when she did pick up.

BATMAN: WAYNE FAMILY ADVENTURES VOLUME 1- Written by C.R.C. Payne, Illustrated by Starbite
Usually when I think about an analysis of anything I'm reading I ask myself, "How did this story make me feel?" There have been several comics I don't write anything about because the story did nothing for me good or bad. But if a story makes me feel good or bad, I want to discuss why. While I felt many things as I read through these quirky, disconnected stories, I was struck by a theory about Batman/Bruce Wayne's writing that I've been building recently.
As a Batman enthusiast with an associate degree in Batmanology, I love exploring Bruce Wayne's character. He is a man with no superhuman abilities. Yet, he has the experience and intelligence to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with a demigoddess and an alien who pulls his punches. He takes on the burden of Gotham City's future, alone if he has to. It's easy to characterize Bruce as only dark, brooding, broken, and unfixable. But, as I've argued before, the best of him is his mercy, humanity, and compassion. Wayne Family Adventures highlights this through the scope of fatherhood. Instead of focusing on the streets of Gotham, the reader is shown the domestic scope of Bruce Wayne's life through the stories of his adopted family. This is truly a story about the batfamily as a whole, but the fact that they are a family is crucial.
In Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Bruce reflects briefly on his current protege, Carrie Kelly, as Robin. In this comic, Bruce is aged. He is aware that his limited time on earth is shortened further by his antics. The future of Gotham wouldn't matter to him after he passes, but this young woman who was inspired to take the Robin gauntlet has a future ahead of her. And here we have Bruce's motive. He doesn't fight crime to save the now. He does it to save the future of everyone in Gotham. His adopted family is emblematic of this. Dick Grayson, Cassandra Cain, Damien Wayne, and Katherine Kane all have a future. Because of Bruce's compassion and personal code, many citizens of Gotham, even villains that he's refused to kill, have an opportunity for hope. In the same way, he's changed the futures of lost and scared children by being an example of humanity.
I can't say enough good things about this comic. It embodies all of the things I often defend in Batman stories. It's a charming and empathetic look at redemption and hope in very diverse characters. It's one of the best examples of the good that can come from Batman, the superhero.
TRIGGER WARNINGS (with potential spoilers) -
1) Warm and Fluffy - This comic spends little time on Gotham streets and focuses instead on interpersonal conflicts and their resolutions. There are more hugs than punches, which may be frustrating for those looking for more crime-fighting and action.
2) Blatant Flanderization - There are many quirky character moments inspired by sometimes brief moments in related comics. While this is done for character flavor and humor, it could be frustrating if that isn't your mug of Mountain Dew.

Hi!
I found your blog because of your ask blog and have been keeping up to date with Tim's asker antics. I just felt the need to get out some opinions in a place I know someone will hear it, and my brain is telling me I can't do shit about Marble Hornets on my own blog until I post my own art about it, so I hope you're fine with me rambling about it here. (If I'm somehow crossing a line of sorts, please let me know.) Also, fair warning. This is long. Very long. I put a TL;DR at the bottom.
I feel like this fandom should appreciate Seth as a character more. Most people kinda just use him as the secondary butt to "brought the dog" jokes, and while that is an amusing line, I feel like Seth has a lot of untapped potential as a character that isn't really thought about because of that joke being spun into his only personality trait. From what I've seen, people seem to entirely forget or ignore a little something about him being the founding member of ToTheArk. He and Brian are the only two characters throughout the entire story to work together successfully. Tim and Brian? They fell out. Jay and Alex? They fell out. Tim and Jay? You guessed it, they fell out. Seth and Brian are the only ones who could actually work together in a functional partnership until the end, but because people only really bring up Seth as the guy Alex yelled at for bringing his dog, that leaves a lot of untapped potential with their dynamic. What kind of person was Seth to be the only person able to collaborate with someone successfully while under the Operator's influence? Were him and Brian already close before it all happened? Was he just the only one with decent communication skills?? Plus, he's the one who started guiding Jay on the path towards answers, which implies that he knows quite a lot about what's going on. I personally imagine Seth to be a similar person to Jeff from EMH. He's calm and collected, good with tech, and quite good with solving and creating puzzles. Intelligent and very caring, wanting to see all the people he cares about make it out alive, so he's doing his best to help get this stuff sorted out for good while trying to maintain a level of anonymity so nobody else he loves gets caught in the cross fire.
TL;DR: People should really start thinking about Seth's dynamics and him as a character more beyond him bringing his dog.
YES YES YES YOU NAILED IT I 100% AGREEE
I have an entire novel's worth of headcanons I've collected about Seth because listen listen hear me out...
90% of the loose ends and plot holes left in Marble Hornets, when filled by Seth, make for an EXTREMELY compelling story that opens up an entire second off-screen plot line with Seth and Brian going parallel with Jay and Tim.
I feel like Night Mind said it best on his "Marble Hornets Explained series":
"When you finally stop to think about everything we've revealed, you begin to realize Marble Hornets was never actually a horror story."
"It was a revenge story."
I actually plan on digging into this fully through Act 3 of @ohgreat-moretapes 👀👀👀 and until then if you guys send headcanon asks here I will answer them!!!! (Just keep in mind some theories I propose about Seth might technically be "spoilers" if you wanna wait for the reveals over at the ask blog. I'll don't think ask blog spoilers will happen too often but just in case I'll put a spoiler warning above posts like that).
@sunnytheopossum is also working on a comic detailing the off-screen rise and fall of ToTheArk which I am SO HYPE for, so go send him lots of love and support too!!!
We need more Seth advocates out there!!! We shall canonize him the way he deserves!!!!

I might have done this before, but I think:
One long whistle: "Rally to me".
One short, one long whistle: "Surround and entrap".
Multiple short whistles: "Kill."
Three medium whistles: "Form up on target".
Not sure what the multiple short whistles on her initial appearance mean. Or her short-looong short-looong short-looong that triggered the raptors to abandon Daniel and close in on Kenji and Darius. That seemed to be a "kill" command. She does it twice again when he's killed...
Maybe short-loooong is just "Go get 'em".

Well the game crashed on me but I need to have food anyway so ✨theory time✨
I think Frey is originally from Athia. Obviously she just like Appeared at the holland tunnel no sign of parents abandoning her there and the tunnel is where she ended up BACK in Athia. Also her full name, Alfre, sounds to me like something that would fit in Athia more than in New York.
But furthermore, I think Frey is related to the Tantas. Maybe a kid of one of them (Cinta would be my most likely guess) maybe not but I feel like she was meant to be the “next generation” of Tantas so to speak. The immunity to the Break and the fact that she even has magic makes me think she was meant to be one of them. Maybe when the Tantas started becoming corrupted, she was sent through the torana so she could be protected from the corruption and eventually come back??
