I'm going to need a bit of help this month...

Let me start by saying that I'm very glad that it's been more than a month since I've needed to ask for help. This was due in a large part to some assistance I received from a dear family member, and a moderate reduction in my monthly expenses. However, things have now gotten a bit worse.

For at least the next few weeks, my employer is cutting hours--even though we're already critically understaffed in all areas of the store. Corporate is tightening its belt so to maximize their own bonuses (the disconnect between the six & seven figure execs and the galley slaves rowing the boat has never been more pronounced) as the poor economy is affecting business. Frankly, this is the slowest I've ever seen things in my entire retail career.

As a result, I'm going to be coming up short to pay for my lodging for the rest of June (at least). I'm fine through this Saturday, the 16th, but need to come up with at least half of the weekly payment for the next few weeks. Hopefully, my hours will be restored by the beginning of July. I want to try to raise $600 overall, so about $200/week.

Fortunately, a couple of very dear Mutuals sent me some funds in celebration of my birthday yesterday (tysm my lovely friends!🥰🥰), so I've already made a good start...

It's okay to dislike the direction of TLOU season 2. This is a friendly post for those that want to express their criticism of S2:

Sometimes people grow to dislike creative choices in canon. Critics that want to keep their blog friendly to fans can use "#[name of media] critical" in their tags when expressing criticism of canon. This has been a fandom practice in many large fandoms, just like how writers add tag warnings to fanfics.

You want to be heard? Cool! Tag it with #TLOU. But please, also tag #TLOU critical or #anti TLOU so fans that may follow you can avoid critical posts if they want to. I'm sure I'll have my critiques, but I plan to use these tags for friends that want to filter that content out.

DFF Theory: Non's brother is White

Warning that this post will contain spoilers for episode 6 of DFF, spoilers under the break

One of my biggest unanswered questions about DFF right now is: Who is New? And will he play a role in the series in the future?

We don't KNOW that New will have a role in the series, of course, but he's talked about a lot. he could just be there to identify Non as the lesser child while New is the golden child, and show why Non feels like he can't talk to his parent about his problems...

So, what do we know about New?

1. Based on the family photos shown in episode 5, we can see that New is EITHER a couple of years older or a couple of years younger than Non. Non is in 11th grade, so that would make New either around 19 or 15.

2. We know he's studying abroad and his family is sending him money. We don't know where, or what age he is. It's implied that he's older by the comparison, but it's never said specifically (unless there's an honorific that isn't being translated into English). We also know that New needs a lot of monetary support wherever he is abroad, since Non's mom talks about taking out an emergency loan to send him more money.

So then, IF we assume New is part of the show, who is he? I'm going to go ahead and say he's not Phee because we know Phee is the ❤️, wants to be Non's BF, and he's not abroad.

So who does that leave?

The three people I can think of are Tan, Perth, and White.

Perth might be the most likely because we haven't seen much of him yet, but he IS in the background of some of the casino scenes. And maybe it's possible that Perth plays New, and New is actually not a good kid and is in with a gang but has his whole family fooled, and the reason he keeps having to ask for money is because he's in debt or keeps losing it...

But I don't think that's likely, so that rules out Perth.

Next is Tan, who is probably the most obvious choice. But I don't think the timeline makes sense, considering New would be older or younger than Non and Tan is in the same grade as the other main characters. So unless he was able to fake his name, age, and schooling records it would've been impossible for him to transfer into their school in the same year as the rest. It is possible that he could pull that off, but Non's family is shown to not have money, so I don't know how he could've pulled off faking those records. So IMO, Tan is out.

The last option is White, which I will say, DOES fit the timeline. If Non's brother New is actually younger than him and brilliant, he could be studying abroad in an advanced program, and it might also explain why his family keeps needing to send him money since he wouldn't be able to get a job if he was that young.

White is the youngest of the group since he calls everyone there "Phi" and at the beginning, the friend group teases Tee about "tricking kids." White also shows a lot of capability in tense moments, and is the one who is the best with technology.

White acts scared and cries a lot when the others are around, but when left to his own devices he steals the tape, watches it, finds a gun and steals it. He's also the one who is good with technology. He mentions in the first episode that he'll work on boosting the signal of their walkie talkie, which isn't a simple thing to do. He's good with computers, probably too good for his age.

I think that of all the people who we've seen so far in the show, White is the most likely to be Non's brother. The comparisons are a misdirect, so we wouldn't suspect him. White has Tee (who is the person who has screwed Non over the most so far) wrapped around his little finger from the beginning. He plays up being cute and helpless until the exact moment he needs to be capable, then he's capable as hell.

I'm not sure that New is going to play a part in this series, honestly. But if he shows up, I think White is the person who fits the bill best.

So...

As some of you may know, last year I was in a really bad car accident. I was at a stop sign when a truck hit my car head on and totaled it. I was injured, and then on top of that I caught COVID in the hospital. Since then I've had to deal with predatory insurance and settlement lawyers, buy a new car, and pay for a lot of my medical treatment up front.

A few weeks ago I finally had to settle with insurance (who dragged their feet for months) or risk everything by taking them to court, which I just couldn’t afford to do.

So now in all that time of recovering and trying to deal with everything, I've built up some debt that I just cannot get ahead of.

I’ve always hesitated in the past when people have asked for ways to support me; I don’t want anyone to feel pressured; I’m here because I love this community, and I don’t need a reward for that, but honestly with the situation as it is at the moment I’m really struggling, and my friends have convinced me that it’s okay to ask for help, even when I would rather gnaw my arm off than post this.

Hey folks, I'm afraid I need help again. I'll be posting actual content on this blog soon so that I can start properly monetizing my project without having to keep asking for help directly, but we're unfortunately still in a transitional state with regards to our lifestyle and don't have anything to fall back on. So I'm just desperately hoping that maybe someone here can help us.

We're an AuDHD queer trans couple, both FtM, and we've been rejected by both of our families. We've been surviving off the grace of friends, but they're struggling to keep us afloat right now. Which is a pity since Whispers of Wonderland is getting so close to getting properly released. But the universe doesn't like to follow my ideal schedule, heh.

We're staying in a hotel since we can't get a landlord to rent to us at the moment. We don't make anywhere near enough for them to be willing to take a chance on us. We're barely hanging on by a thread with the hotel as it is.

We are currently overdue to pay the hotel bill for today, and we still need $65 to just barely make it. I really hope something works out somehow, and quickly, or we're going to be in so much trouble. I realize that no one cares about my project at the moment since they don't know it yet, but I'm hoping that maybe people care enough about my husband to keep him alive, or at least that someone cares about giving underprivileged people the best chance of survival possible. I struggle with feelings of unworthiness and so have a hard time asking the wide world instead of just my friends, but I'll do it to protect my husband at any cost.
