Why should you support, or at least respect, paraphiles?

Stupid little [informational] rant on why there's nothing wrong with paraphilias and paraphilic disorders, yes that includes the bad ones, and why anti-paraphilia is technically ableist. "S-so i'm ableist for not liking pedophilia?!" shut up and listen.

Before I go all out here's some terms you should know ;

anti-contact : someone who doesn't support *practicing paraphilias, more specifically ones that cannot be consented to.

pro-contact : someone who supports *practicing paraphilias

there's also neu-contact, complex-contact, blah blah

*practicing : a paraphile who practices (acts on) their paraphilia

non-practicing : a paraphile who doesn't practice (act on) their paraphilia

okay keep reading for the actual reasons, please repost to spread awareness /nf.

To start, paraphilias are completely uncontrollable just like any other fetish or even mental condition. Their causes are mostly trauma, internet exposure at a young age, and sometimes can be passed down through genetics. Again, they cannot control any of those, so why judge them for it?

Because of the way paraphilias are looked down on, it makes it difficult for them to seek treatment or even supportive communities. Especially younger paraphiles who may not be in a good environment or feel too ashamed to tell anyone about it. Not being able to get help can lead paraphiles to harm others or themselves.

Paraphiles do not choose to be paraphiles, they do choose however, whether they act on their paraphilia or not. If you still don't understand, let me explain it in a different light. Take NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder) for example, people view those with that disorder as horrible and abusive (which isn't true mind you.) NPD is also caused by trauma or genetics, and narcissists have the choice of being abusive or not, just like any other person.

So what makes it so different from other mental conditions, especially since paraphilic disorders are also a thing? They're only viewed horribly because of the stereotypes, just like almost every mental condition. Does that make them deserving of being discriminated against, for something they have no control over?

Now take anti-para and replace it with something else, like anti-PTSD or anti-hypersexual, now that doesn't sound like something you'd want to be, does it? Be support of all neurodivergent / mentally disabled people, not just some.

it baffles me how proshippers, and even some antis, don't realize that fiction isn't the problem. it's the community. it's the fact that it actively exposes minors to hard kinks and heavy topics by being "anti-censorship".

if you indulge in dark fiction in private, with consenting people who you KNOW are the same age as you, and also keep it private, if anyone? whatever. i don't care. i do that too, because i know limits. i know how and when to stop. i know consent, and i know age.

if you do it publicly? on a tumblr blog, where minors can view and sometimes even follow you? you're a predator. full stop. it should be complete common sense that people who indulge in dark reality, will also indulge in dark fiction. and when you combine that with minors who proship... what do you get? what do you think happens?

if you're a minor, encouraging the behavior? guess what. that's also predatory, regardless of age. there will always be someone younger, more impressionable than you.

proshipping doesn't mean "ship and let ship" anymore. it means you actively engage in a community that enables grooming and pedophilia, purposefully or not.

i can promise you this - 90% of pro/neutral/complex contact paraphile blogs, even the "anti-contact" ones, radqueer blogs, xenosatanist blogs, etc, were once and/or still are proshippers. do you wonder why? take a guess.

One thing I learned from debate is the people who know they're evil or terrible wont have any real debate points, they're impossible to debate because they'll lie, they'll make personal attacks, and they're only want to break down opposing ideas.

Most nazis are grifters, they're just saying shit to piss people off - when you're talking to a real nazi they'll break every single thing down and out right say what and why they belive things.

Proshipers and rad queers don't have an argument. They defend without defending, they say things like "i think it's okay and normal" without telling why, if your lucky you might get the "i was an abused child" argument but that falls apart fast when they're arguing with someone with similar trauma

Even pedophiles will defend why they think why they're normal with somewhat okay points (they're still easy to break down and argue against) and they even have some credible sources on how pedophilia is natural (funny enough its mostly in animals and the sources break down how its also bad in those groups) but I have yet to see even ONE credible study on how glorifying rape, abuse, pedophilia, necrophilia, and zoophilia can be a form of therapy or even an effective coping mechanism, ive ONLY ever seen studies linking the glorification of pharaphilias only make people act them out more often and more brutally
