if you're like me and have been struggling in this fandom, this blog is such a great tool. Thank you so much OP, I'm so happy I could inspire something like this by sharing my experience and hoping others could relate <3

It has come to my attention that some of my fellow aroace fans of Alastor feel isolated in the fandom. For fans of Alastor who do not like shipping the advice is usually to block the ship tags and block people who post ships without proper tagging. However, this has led to Tumblr's blocking system apparently working against them as the tag tends to be almost empty for them. This blog aims to fix that by creating a way for sex/romance-repulsed fans of Alastor to enjoy the Alastor tag without having to worry.

Everything from the #alastor tag will be reblogged to this blog except for the following:

Sex/romance ship posts: the main purpose of the blog is to remove this from the equation, allowing repulsed aroace fans to view platonic versions of the ships without worry.

RP posts: No one can predict in what direction a role-playing blog might go as it depends on the interactions between the blog and those who send in messages. I don't want to create the idea that the RP blog is sex/romance-free only for it to go in that direction in the future

Anti-Hazbin content: I do not repost such content on my main blog and I will not post that here. The idea of this blog is for people to have fun so I will not bring that negativity into this space.

Even if you have a ship tag blocked, you can click on it on this blog with the knowledge that it will be platonic. In addition to using the original tags by the creators of the posts, all posts are tagged with #filtered aroace alastor. Hopefully, this will be fun.

It’s the alienation that does it for me, and that doesn’t ever go away. Even among other aroace people who are sex/romance-favorable, even when we’re discussing a character who’s like us both in canon, I still don’t get to feel included because I am aroace and sex/romance-repulsed. That sense of being alone in a room doesn’t go away, even and especially when you’re in as close company as you could possibly ever get. We are still too Weird even among the Weirdest fandoms known for accepting people no matter how Weird they are, even when they’re trying as hard as they can to give a space to aroace people. We’re just that incompatible with the rest of the world. We don’t get to feel included in larger society, we don’t get to feel included in niche internet communities, and we even still don’t get to feel included in spaces revolving around being aroace. We don’t even get any escapism. I think feeling like a spectator is just part of it.

“Good representation” isn’t the key to feeling seen or included in fandom spaces for people like me. Other people have gotten to see themselves in Alastor, portray what their own relationships might look like, feel seen or heard or bond with other people similar to them they might’ve thought just didn’t exist, just like I do right now. Other people got to learn they aren’t alone, even if those communities are so so so niche, there is a community there for them— people out there who not only are just like they are, but who enjoys similar things to them and they can get along really well with. They aren’t entirely alone anymore, and they get to enjoy their own experiences through Alastor. Which I greatly respect, that’s beautiful and I’m happy for them. But I know I will never get to experience that the way they do, and it is heartbreaking to watch.

I learned that not only will good aroace representation never give me that sense of belonging or community like everyone else gets to experience, that there isn’t a magic little character that’ll fix everything and give me that connection to other people, but I’ve also learned that fandom spaces are just inherently not designed to include me, even and especially when there is that aroace character in the mix. I really am going into the kitchen and being shocked when there is food there. I will never feel like more than a spectator or an outsider listening in on a conversation I have no right being a part of, standing on the outside of people laughing and enjoying themselves and considering if I should just leave yet and if anyone would really notice, and I shouldn’t get my hopes up too high just because he’s written to be like me. Alastor (or anyone else for that matter) being aroace in canon won’t bring into existence a community that just doesn’t exist. I’m looking for a unicorn trying to feel included, even in a space as catered to me as I could possibly ever get. Being aroace and feeling like an alien are the same thing to me. And no matter how long I keep searching and searching and searching and finding nothing, it will never take me off of a planet I do not belong to. That’s what I’ve gotten out of Alastor being aroace.

It’s crazy how many people just don’t understand why a lot of aro and or ace people don’t like that Alaster gets shipped. It’s not that hard to understand we don’t have a lot to let ourselves lose. I mean can you name 10 asexual characters? 5? Can you name two aro characters. There’s the guy from Archie who they made have a sex scene in a movie version. There’s a few books. I think a background character in Heartstopper? Do you see the theme here??? You’re all queer people, do you not get it? How it feels to have nothing? Is it so wrong to be upset that there’s finally an outwardly aroace person in popular media and instead of people embracing that they’re fighting on the internet about why it’s ok to ignore it? And I will never in my fucking life have anything against the people who are aro and or ace and portray him in THEIR experiences, even if it is a romance or sex favorable experience, but it is obvious that way too many of you guys are allo and it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I don’t even like him as a character that much, he isn’t even made by an aroace artist. The show isn’t even that fucking good, I just want to keep someone like me for once in my life. If there were a million other aroace characters I wouldn’t care, but it just hurts seeing erasure coming from my own community. It just sucks, man, I don’t know. It just sucks

i am once again asking how to enjoy fandom space as an aroace and sex+romance-repulsed person when i absolutely cannot stand one of the main popular ships and i’ve blocked everyone who posts about it bc i would rather put a gun to my head and pull the trigger than see them so much as breathe next to each other ever again but now every tag is empty and i’m the only one left

(i blocked 200+ different blogs over this and i am not kidding even a little bit) (i cannot come up with an even serviceable solution bc just blocking the tag does genuinely next to nothing on ios when the ship is popular) (i think this might be yet another thing i just don’t get to enjoy like everyone else simply because i am aroace) (i am so close to just giving up altogether and accepting that i am just that definitionally incompatible with the rest of the world that i cannot feel even semi-included amongst the Weird online communities known for accepting and giving a space to Weird People no matter how Weird they are) (maybe there is one other person just as autistic and aroace as i am that enjoys similar things as me and i can get along with at least decently enough somewhere out there, but. what if there just isn’t?) some of You All need to remind yourselves that anti-censorship and anti-harassment covers negative opinions and dislike as well

someone is saying that they find your favourite trope/ship/whatever 'icky' or 'gross', unfeasible in their mind even, and you feel your pressure rising? take a deep breath, calm yourself and consider the following:

did they tell anyone to die over it? if not, that's just them expressing their opinion

did they wish anyone real life harm because of it? if not, that's just them expressing their opinion

did they accuse anyone liking it of committing real life atrocities? if not, that's still just them expressing their opinion

did they accuse anyone liking it of actively espousing and propagating harmful beliefs or attitudes in real life? if not, that's still just them expressing their own ass opinion

did they say anything negative on their post, about the people liking it? if not, that's. just. them. expressing their goddamn opinion! about the thing; not you!

if that person is somehow mis-tagging or labeling their posts wrong, there are two (2) things you can do as a non-asshole person yourself:

either let them know that their stuff is in the wrong tag or search without verbally abusing them in the process

or... just block them and go about your business because maybe you don't feel like talking to them about it, whatever

though, if you're an asshole and —let's be honest here!— a poser when it comes down to your supposed values, there's a third secret option:

harassing and/or abusing them for their opinion on fiction

BEFORE you lash out, maybe take a moment to consider what the other person actually said, instead of assuming that them having an opinion must mean that they're part of some hostile monolith out to get you; you may be getting irrationally angry at someone who's actually AGREEING with you in their views about media and art

pro fiction, pro shipping does NOT mean a person has to like everything and only ever be positive

expecting people to never ever make a salty post or mundane complaint is dystopian as fuck, and quite frankly against the freedom of speech and expression we're here for

while you do not deserve to see abuse in your favourite tags, it also should not be the end of your entire world to accidentally see a post simply saying 'I don't like it', be it by your own mistake or someone else's

...and if this post makes you feel vaguely threatened, like I might be an anti in disguise, maybe, actually take a break from doomscrolling and go water a plant

I say this very gently: you are losing your touch on reality and your netiquette is slipping

gimme a fucking break while you take one yourself.

OK- so i decided to give myself homework

Ive seen alot on both sides of the anti/pro side of shipping and the discouse surrounding it so as someone who is both studying in law AND digital surveilance i decided to interview two of my teachers who served and still are serving in the law side of my country when i go back to class on monday and tuesday.

One was a police officer (i dont remember how long but i believe he retired) and the other specializes in surveilance and fraud.

i will also be interviewing different people on the stance online (meaning antis and proshippers will be involved)

The things i will be asking them will range from "what is your stance on (insert debate here)" and "would this be worthy of someone getting put to jail for" and all that

THIS IS FOR RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY. I AM NOT GOING TO PRETEND LIKE THIS IS SOME GOLDMINE OF ANSWERS. I'm just a student who is online a little too much

That means i need people willing to be able participate in terms of the online side of the debate so i will be making a form for antis and proshippers to answer if they wish to do so

they will completely hide all posts with dose tags, so u don see a buncha "blocked post" posts

I'm not sure if this is the case on Androids, but Firefox for iPads and iPhones (what I have) doesn't allow extensions at all, and Safari only allows specific extensions on the app store, and to my knowledge XKit, Tumblr Savior, etc. aren't on the app store. Would LOVE to be proven wrong if anyone else can find them though, apple doesn't make it easy
