i'm 55 minutes into your mega-episode and i remembered how cool your timelapse music is. sooo could you drop a playlist pretty-pretty-pretty please? not even just TB6, i am humbly asking for a Sloy music-dump. please🥺?
Okay, let's rock out! Here's a wastly incomplete list of stuff I recently used in videos, with a playlist I should keep updating later for your convenience
Pluffaduff - Ain't Nothing Like A Funky Meme (used a the Let The Bodies Hit The Floor bit from here in the TB6-0) Shaxicula by DjCummerbund- This is where the "Dig through the ditches" joke came from, not the original Dragula XD Bendy And The Ink Machine Instrumental by The Living Tombstone - It pains me whenever I use this tune, but it's possibly the best intro song I have! We Are Number One But It's Electro Swing Remix by The Musical Ghost - Kinda same, but it's absolutely my favorite gag. Served me well through the Create series, cause Electroswing is real steam-punky feeling Show Your Style by Miracle Of Sound - Mostly is here as a reminder of the fact that all Miracle Of Sound music is safe to use in streams and stuff. They're just really cool like that Papercut Machete by Pluffaduff - Honorary mention, it's just a really cool sounding mash up I'm listening to right now. Can't use this one in a video but daang
Punch Deck - The Sound Consumes - Very groovy, love this one Punch Deck - Can't Stop - Epic, Rocking, if you want AMV music? this is it! Punch Deck - Fluid Dynamics - Pretty sure this is a Use With Attribution, but I had it flag on my vids a few times?? Must've been me messing up and not crediting right. Either how, a banger. Punch Deck - Night Shift - Nice melancholic melody, very lovely
Minerva - Colors - I really enjoy editing ANYTHING to this song! Wontolla - Holo (Ampyx Remix) - Unofficial theme of Truly Bedrock Season One. Apyx Holo and its remixes served me super good in that time. But this one is by far the best version of that song! Wontolla - Lighter Than Air - One day I will create a build timelapse worthy of this song, until then, I will keep trying DOCTOR VOX - Paranoid Empire - massive and evil sounding tune. Great for timelapses of anything with skulls on it, really No Escape (Ft. @T_en_M and @LaudividniYT) - bouncy and Minecrafty sounding music meant as a fan-made music disk Digital Math - The Musky Thrust - fun and pranky music I keep reusing whenever things go completely off the rocker More to come some time in the reblogs, and thank you for trusting my taste in music! And remember: if all else fails, simply listen to Linkin Park Hybrid Theory on repeat for 10 to 15 years!

Thank you for the tag @mycupofrum 💕💕 it's always a beautiful day to talk about oneself and also as the curious girlie I am to read about other people!!!
Fave colour: black baby
Last song: according to my spotify history my last played song was on Thursday and it was Stars Are Blind by Paris Hilton. That is the only song I listened to that day. It is a banger
Last film: we went to see First Omen a few weeks ago with my friend, absolutely shooketh from it, it was only us and a couple in the last row and they shushed us at one point. Never in my life have I felt more like a teenager in my LIFE. It was mortifying. I’m so embarrassed. We weren’t that loud though, just scared of the movie??? It was a good movie, enjoyed it, next Tuesday we’re going to see Immaculate, this spring is giving antichrist apparently
Currently reading: I have a few fics I’m in the middle of reading (one of them is A Violet Kind of Spin by @cassiaratheslytherpuff which I’m DYING to get back to!!!! jfc it’s so good!!!!! I feel so bad for taking such a long break from it but not a day goes by that I don’t think about it 🥹) and one book (Swimming in the Dark by Tomasz Jedrowski) but my reading vibes have been off for a good few months now!! I’ve read some shorter fics and listened to some podfics but reading in general feels super hard right now. I can’t wait for my summer vacation, maybe I’ll have some peace of mind and will be able to slam some words down. My tbr list is diabolical.
Currently watching: I’m going to be boring and say that I’m still on my Grey’s Anatomy grind. I’m on season 9 episode 10, 10 seasons to go. I’ve been watching s20 as it’s airing right now but it’s just not… it. This show should be taken off life support already 💔
Currently craving: a cigarette, uv index of 7, the beach and a crispy coke zero 😩
Coffee or tea: coffee, I never drink tea
Three ships: Drarry, first and foremost 🙂↕️ drarry has caused my brain to rot for almost two decades now and god knows when it’ll stop. I’ve been on and off the fandom, mostly off, but drarry is just a part of my goddamn DNA at this point it’s ridiculous. Next idk man. I have to say it’s a duel between prongsfoot and jegulus, your honor I love them both. Jegulus is a new acquaintance and like I don’t even know if it makes any sense at all (like where did this ship came from???) but jfc I am sat, I am folded I am silenced. But prongsfoot is the love of my life out of these two, I know for a fact that one of the first fics I ever read at the ripe age of 10 or 11-ish was Sirius/James and ever since that they’ve been in my heart, in my soul and in my mind non-stop. Prongsfoot is such a niche ship and I can’t believe it’s not more popular!!! Like they’re soulmates honestly. Funny enough I haven’t read that much of prongsfoot fics, always up for recs 👀👀 I know that was three ships already but I have to mention Kingsley/Charlie and it’s all because of @squintclover and their recent little microfics that just SLAP so hard I’m bruised black. I’m beyond obsessed.
First ship: I mean it was drarry. The one and only.
Currently working on: getting my goddamn ass off the couch and start to clean and do laundry 🥹 I have a few school deadlines as well but that does not spark joy so whatever
Thank you for coming to my ted talk once again!!! I’m tagging @valoale @cassiaratheslytherpuff @lemonlimelea @soliblomst @kk1smet @lucifergraced no pressure spill the tea if feeling like it!! 😌

Random Video Game Themed Question Prompts - Part 4
Alright let's just clear out my drafts already. Here's the last video game question prompt, coming in hot! As this is part 4, you can expect there to be a LOT of repeats from the other parts. I encourage you all to try this cause it's fun to talk about video games!!
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/692bc74f9e15c44b54c1c4424ca4e2c4/09c6fd063653f0e5-c6/s540x810/1953ac128c552f13ef8d3f286a8a94b4a7946307.jpg)
1 - Video Game Crush
Haha... Well... Yknow... Not that I have a LOT or anything. But currently, I've been REALLY into Princess Peach. And TTYD Remake reminded me how much I kind of want to be Goombella's little pet and-
Sorry what?
((for guy crushes, Sol Badguy is absolutely up there.))
2 - Game you're currently playing
I actually just started replaying Super Mario Galaxy 2 today! I haven't played this game in, maybe over a decade now it wouldn't surprise me. Just because I didn't have my copy for a while, but it's back now and I'm VERY overdue on a replay!
3 - Favorite Character
I feel like lately I've been losing some steam on this guy... But fuck it dude his new game looks so god damn cool, and with Mario RPG stocks being WAY up... Maybe it's okay to be hopeful for this dude again...
IT'S SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG AND ALL OF TEAM DARK I LOVE THOSE GUYS SO MUUUUUCH!!
4 - Game you started but didn't finish
There's been a few. Ones that stick out to me are Breath of Fire, Wild Arms, and Golden Sun. Which I wanted to get into but I just thought they were kinda boring (though I'm itching to give them another shot!!! Uh oh!!!!!)
Most recently I actually had to shelf Sushi Striker, which I really liked and got to the halfway point, but I just had to drop it cause it's a little too random feeling and I just wasn't enjoying it. Maybe I'll go back to it eventually, though.
5 - Best Soundtrack
To me, probably my favorite video game OST of all time probably has to go to Blue Dragon. Seriously, I know a lot of people only know it for Eternity (WHICH IS A FUCKING BANGER I WON'T HEAR IT) but the whole OST is really good. Waterside, The Seal is Broken, just to name some of the heavy hitters. But the whole OST is golden. It's the only OST I've been able to listen to the WHOLE thing on repeat. Sure, some games I can repeat some songs back to back. But the WHOLE OST!? Only Blue Dragon, baby!!!
6 - Favorite Villain
Mentioned this in Part 3, but I think right now I'd have to give it to Fawful! Best handled Mario Villain, great fights, super successful plan, good battle themes, one of my favorite final bosses ever? What's not to love?
Here's a bonus I didn't mention though, Lavos from Chrono Trigger. That thing is super interesting and the concept of "the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs is actually a fucked up evil alien still stuck inside the planet" has influenced an upsetting amount of my OC universes.
7 - Your first game ever played
Super Mario World! Or at the very least it's the one I have the earliest memories of playing. Specifically in a forest world! If I had to guess, Yoshi's Island, but for some reason I feel like it was Forest of Illusion lol. Hopefully my brother didn't do me like that though. Fun fact though, Animal Crossing is one of my earliest games ever and it taught me how to read! My mom didn't want to read all the dialogue for me so she told me to learn how to read it myself. Now look at me! I read so good! For sure!
8 - Favorite Genre
Once again, Turnbased RPGs are where it's at!!!! But if you don't know here's some of my other favorites as bonuses:
Platformers (3D especially)
Fighting Games (2D especially)
Shmups + On Rails
9 - A game everyone should play
In the last part I already said Tales of Vesperia. So I'll try to pick a different one... And honestly? Maybe Final Fantasy 9, I think it similarly has a really important message. And while it's maybe not a super crucial message about the world on the whole, it's a good message about life and death and living. Plus, I just fucking love that game.
10 - Favorite sidekick, pet, or companion
GOOD QUESTION!! There's a lot of fantastic companions throughout gaming. But lately there's one in specific I am ALWAYS obsessed with: Daxter. I LOVE Jak & Daxter and how they're best friends. And like, Daxter isn't jealous of Jak and how cool he is and how everyone loves him. They poke fun at eachother but there's never a tried moment where Daxter is like "OH Jak hogs all the glory" or anything boring like that. THEY'RE BROTHERS!! They love each other!! Daxter is annoying and showboating but he's Jak's best friend no matter what and he has his own hot GF and he stays in his lane and ALWAYS is there to help Jak. I just love him. Jak and Daxter are my good boys.
11 - Most annoying character
I feel like I should have an answer for this. In a previous part I mentioned Filbo from Bugsnax. But even still I really can't think of many who TRULY grate on my nerves. Maybe I'm just good at pushing them out of my mind. NO ONE THAT JUST CAME TO MY HEAD JUST NOW: GILGAMESH IN CHOCOBO GP!!! HE CONSTANTLY SHOWS UP AND THEY DO THE SAME "WHO ARE YOU?" JOKE EVERY TIME AND IT'S SO LONG AND SO UNFUNNY AAAAAAA
12 - A game you plan to play
THERE'S A LOT!!! A game I've been planning on playing for a while now but just haven't gotten to due to schedules and plans changing is Legend of Kay on PS2! Looks like a hidden gem I never see anyone talk about, but I think I'd really dig it.
13 - Current or recent game themed wallpaper
I'm still using that Shadow the Hedgehog one on PC. But on my phone I'm currently using art of Mewtwo for my lockscreen, and FF9 art of the whole cast in a big festival that scrolls along all the pages on my homescreen! I'd show you but I'm too lazy to get the screenshots + it's fanart I dont wanna repost :)
14 - Saddest game scene
Oof, just one? Well since I just finished playing the remake, so it's fresh in my head, I'll go ahead and throw the TEC-XX death scene on here. I LITERALLY know he survives but just "Peach... I love you..." right before he explodes... UGH... It's too much. And the remake adding the little Tec theme remix while you slowly walk away is too much, they had no right to do that shit to me. I love TEC a bunch and I didn't realize this time around that he mentions that he understands anger, but not love. That's so sad. The X-Nauts show him anger but no one ever showed him love. And I love that he really does realize that love isn't a desperate need to have the person to yourself, but to help them be with the people they love and do what's best for them. Bless Tec, dude, what a cute and fun character. I LOVE WEIRD ROMANCE BETWEEN ODD COUPLES SO MUCH!!!
15 - A game world you'd like to visit
I mentioned how much I wish I lived in the Mario World last time, so this time I'll give it up to Pokemon! My life would be SO massively improved if I lived in the Pokemon world and got to hang out with giant lizards all day.
16 - Disappointing sequel
yikes... Sadly I have too many to bring up. Immediately you could bring up the secondary Paper Mario Trilogy. Or Paper Jam. But I feel like those have all been talked to death. I still think Strive was the most disappointing follow up to Xrd, which is a shame cause hype for Strive's launch is what got me to play the whole series to prepare for it (I'm still a little bitter.) But ultimately I think I have to give it up to Luigi's Mansion 3. LM2 was GOOD!! I stand by that to this day! And so I was hyped for 3... And ultimately I liked pretty much nothing about it. It's boring to play, doesn't follow through on any cool story ideas or potential, I don't remember a single song from it, and I think a lot of the animation isn't as good as people say (not to say it's bad, but it's flawed at times). The only good thing I can say about it is that the Hellen boss fight was really good from what I recall and there was a pirate shark. AND WORST OF ALL!? EVERYONE LOVED IT!! I DONT GET IT!!! IT SUCKED!!!
17 - Best game to play with friends
So obviously I wanna say Smash Bros or Mario Kart or really any fighting game. I do LOVE playing those with friends and I think they're best enjoyed with friends. But man I gotta give it up to Minecraft and VR chat, it's insane how easy it is to get sucked into those games with friends for HOURS.
18 - Guilty pleasure game
Once again I don't have one. When I love a game I love it loud and proud (it's fortnite)
19 - Choose one ability or item to have irl
Ditto's shape shifting. I get to become pretty but I get to keep my eyes with my long eyelashes. Cool.
20 - What game should get a VR treatment
Oh this is an interesting question. I think Luigi's Mansion could be neat since horror works well for VR (though maybe it'd be motion sickness hell when ghosts are tumbling you around while you suck them up lol). Maybe something like Starfox? A Mario 3D Platformer in VR is what immediately came to mind personally! But I think what might be best is A Short Hike VR or Sludge Life VR. Just walking simulators where you do fuck all. But I'm actually there. God... Sludge Life VR could be the funniest fucking game ever made...
21 - A game that got you through a tough time
That's usually Super Smash Bros. I got Brawl during a very rough money time. I got Smash 4 during a very rough personal transitionary time for myself. I got ultimate during a tough (albeit exciting) time of moving on with my life. Smash Bros. is always there for me.
22 - Best art style or graphics
For me this always comes down to 3 different choices. For one, the Mario RPGs are all amazing looking. I actually love how Super Mario RPG looks, Paper Mario is adorable, and Mario & Luigi is consistently setting the bar for how games should look. Superstar Saga's sprites are simply iconic, BiS is one of my favorite looking games ever, DT is seriously underrated visually, and Brothership is looking NICE.
The other option is whatever the fuck Dragon Quest 11 was on. Being realistic anime and hyper saturated cartoon anime at the same time. DQ11 is genuinely one of the most gorgeous video games I've ever seen. I think more games need to look like that.
And lastly, Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2... UGH, it's SO good!! Genuinely amazing visuals with the anime graphics that are so bright and charming and fun! How do they make it look 2D and 3D all at once!? WHEN WILL THESE GUYS MAKE A 2D SONIC FIGHTING GAME!! I LOVE how this game looks!
23 - A game that needs a reboot/remaster
For a reboot? I'd really love to see something new come from Starfox or F-ZERO. I know it's a basic answer but I would really love to see SOMETHING new from them that's more substantial (though I do appreciate FZERO 99) and I think at this point you may just have to reboot them (REBOOT THEM AGAIN IN THE CASE OF STARFOX LOL)
Remaster? I'd LOVE to see a new Demon's Crest game but I don't see anything brand new, so I'll take a remaster. Since I just played it recently, I feel like Solatorobo would do NUMBERS nowadays on modern consoles and with HD! It was a game that was MASSIVELY ahead of its time and I think it could be super successful now.
24 - What game made you rage quit
Sushi Strikers... Again maybe I'll come back to it eventually. I WANT to love it. It's fun and funny. But like, where I shelved it was just so frustrating. Every battle seemed random whether or not they'd LET you win. Idk.
25 - A gaming accomplishment you're proud of
Ooh, interesting question. I'm currently doing some gaming pet projects that I'll be VERY proud of whenever I finish. But as for one I've already done... I honestly can't really think of any. I just recently beat the Pit of 100 Trials for the first time in TTYD remake without dying once? So I guess we'll go with that. I may come update this later if I think of a better one!
26 - Best narrative
I said it before, but it's probably FF9. But for another one to be more unique. Let's go with the Ace Attorney games. Some of the best written and most clever stories I've ever seen. I'm LONG overdue to replay these bad boys. They're seriously some of my favorite stories in video games. The final case in every game somehow always manages to knock it out of the park and stick with me forever.
27 - Funniest game scene
IT'S NOT EVEN THAT FUNNY BUT THIS SCENE WILL NEVER LEAVE MY HEAD
28 - A moment that made you feel cool
Another really good question... I'm sure there's a better answer but what IMMEDIATELY comes to mind is in Metroid Zero Mission, after the Zero Suit section. Which is a HORRIFYING moment in the game, where you're just totally weak and useless. You get back your suit after completing the Chozo trial, and the feeling of power you get seeing all the enemies who were stalking you running and hiding in fear of your full abilities felt GREAT!! Zero Mission was so cool.
29 - Best gameplay
I said it before but I'll say it again. The Mario RPGs. Some of the best RPG gameplay ever, taking the format and expanding it in super creative ways that make them my favorites of the genre. I love lots of RPGs and every one of them really makes me appreciate how special these games are to me even more.
30 - Game you play to relax
A lot of times if I'm having a bad day, it's Smash Bros. That's what I fall back on. Just put on an easy little match with some CPUs, items, and your favorite stage? It's a mood cleaner for me. My go-tos for a bad day are Brawl or Ultimate, but I'll play any of them when the mood takes me :)
31 - Favorite game of all time
I SAID IT ONCE
I'LL SAY IT AGAIN
NEVER FORGET IT:
SUPER MARIO RPG : LEGEND OF THE SEVEN STARS

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is AWESOME!!!!!!
OK so, have you ever went to watch a show, that you expected to just be a fun 7/10 series only for it to absolutely blow you away with how well-written fun, and GREAT it is? Well, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur was that show for me. This show only has 1 season released so far and it has already become my new favorite cartoon of ALL time. But why is that? Well, let's dive into why Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is an awesome series.
NOTE: I have not read the comics this show is based on, so this is judging it as a stand-alone show and not an adaptation. Oh, and this review contains spoilers for the series, you've been warned
1. The Art Style & Animation
I LOVE this show's art style. It looks like it comes straight out of a comic book with the character designs, the backgrounds, the thick outlines on the characters, the bright colors that pop in every scene, this show looks GREAT! The animation also gets cool and creative in the show's action-music video like sequences at the end of each episode where they change the colors of each character AND they use some cool ass and creative animation in each of these sequences too, whenever these pop up in an episode, they are always great to look at. And then there are the fights in this show outside of that and they look great too! Overall, this show has a fantastic art style that looks pleasing and fun to look at.
2. The Music
DAMN does this show have an amazing soundtrack. I LOVE every single song here. They are just super catchy and great to listen to, and remember those sequences at the end of each episode I mentioned in the previous section? Well, these sequences have some of the BEST songs in the whole show. My favorites are definitely the ones in the last two episodes, both of which are 70s remixes of the theme song, which is also a BANGER too! Other great songs include My Hair is a Mood, The Wave, The Beyonder's Song, Out of My Mind, Go Big, The Look in Your Eyes, and MANY other ones as well! This show has the best soundtrack out of ANY cartoon I've seen. Go listen to this show's soundtrack right now, it's actually amazing.
3. The Characters
Okay, enough of praising the superficial aspects about this show, now, it's time to praise the other parts of it; that being, the characters.
Lunella- The main protagonist of this show, and she's great. The show does the usual things that all good shows do and that is teaching its protagonist lessons, however, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur does this so incredibly well that it makes Lunella a great protagonist. You have Lunella learning pretty basic lessons like being patient and not feeding internet trolls when they say mean things about you online, they also have her grow as a character like learning to face her childhood fears in episode 14, and learning that, fear isn't something you should get over, it should be something you should get through.
There's also episode 7 where she learns to overcome her awkwardness whenever she's in a slumber party and becomes better at making friends. Even basic lessons she learns like in episode 4 where she learns that she shouldn't be overly competitive add so much nuance to that moral. LOS-307 (the robot Lunella competes against in that episode) wants to try and connect with Lunella because they don't really have any friends, yet Lunella ends up ignoring that and gets so focused on the game that LOS ends up being turned on while they are on charging for so long and overheats, because Lunella was too caught up in the game. She was too obsessed with winning and that cost her almost getting killed. Other episodes like the one where she learns that it's ok to say when you need a break from stuff, the one where she learns that what makes life special are all the fun moments in between are also all great too.
But the episode where her character is at her absolute best imo is in episode 11, AKA; the gentrification episode. In that episode, she learns that she, as Moong Girl, is a voice for the community of the LES, and a role model, and she meets these two guys Marty and Marcy, who want to revitalize the LES to be "better". She thinks that it would help the LES only to see that the changes Marty and Marcy make are affecting the LES for the worse, gentrifying it. She then gets scolded by her mom as Moon Girl saying "how could you support something like this?". She used her voice in a way that badly affected her community, and then there's that AMAZING scene with her mom as herself, and says that she tried to use her voice, but it turned out it didn't matter.
And then she learns that she needs to use her voice wisely as Moon Girl, and that her voice does matter, she just needs to make herself heard. And then goes to fix this and bring back her block from it's gentrified state. I'll talk about this episode more in the next section, but it did such an amazing job of making Lunella a FANTASTIC protagonist. She's flawed, she makes mistakes and those mistakes have big consequences, but she learns and grows from those mistakes. Oh ya, I could also mention many other episodes like episode 5 but I think you could get the idea; Lunella is a great protagonist. Grows throughout the whole series and each episode finds a new way to make her develop in a way that's compelling.
Casey- I have a lot less to say about Casey than I do about Lunella, but I still really like Casey. She's the social media-obsessed popular girl in this show and normally with these two types of characters Casey would be a bully to Lunella, but that's subverted here which is nice. I also love Casey and Lunella's friendship, it's really cute and they a lot of great chemistry with each other that makes their dynamic interesting and fun!
Episode 12 is the episode where Casey goes through a bit of character growth, as she throws bat mitzvah and has Moon Girl make an appearance so it could be the most epic one, only for Casey to become too obsessed with the bat mitzvah to the point it creates a rift in her friendship with Lunella. I think that episode did a good job of making Casey go through some character growth, and overall, she's a fun character and a great tritagonist.
Devil- Devil's cute. I like him. Devil is Lunella's suto pet/crime fighting partner, and I do like him. Like with Lunella and Casey, there are episodes that give him a little depth, like episode 8 or episode 13, these episodes focus on Devil and they are pretty good, not the best episodes of the series but they are still great. Devil's friendship with Lunella is cute too, they have such great chemistry with each other. Devil is a good deuteragonist for this series.
So Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur has a pretty great main cast. The characters are likable, and get great growth throughout the series. Now let's talk about...
4. The Villains
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is a superhero show, so it's going to have a lot of villains. Most of the time these guys usually appear for only one episode to serve the plot for each episode. The first villain, Aftershock, is the main antagonist of the pilot, and she does a decent job as the show's first major boss. She's funny, she's threatening, and her design looks pretty cool. Next is the Syphonater, AKA Angelo. Angelo wanted to help the community but never got noticed, and when Moon Girl got all the attention he never received, he became jealous of her which made him susceptible to being a host for the Syphonater. Again, he serves his job fine as being that episode's main antagonist.
Other villains include Gravitas, a villain with gravitation powers who went after Moon Girl and Devil because they accidentally destroyed his car, Mane who is all of Lunella's natural comprised into one giant hair monster thing, Abbyss who can shoot dark cloud things and who doesn't want to be evil, but since she's apart of a family of supervillains she has no choice, LOS-307 who's a supercomputer that turns evil after overheating (I actually got worried for them when it looks like they were about to die like, damn, this show got me to care about a robot...how) and many, many other villains. All of them serve their purpose for the episodes that they are in and they are entertaining to watch. However, there are two villains that I think are the most worth talking about. Those being The Beyonder and another antagonist I'll talk about later in section 6.
The Beyonder is my favorite villain in this show so far. He reminds me a lot like HIM from the OG powerpuff girls; an all-powerful being that likes to torment our heroes for the fun of it. He's just such a fun villain, he basically was sent to Earth so he could study about humans, and when Lunella says one thing about Eduardo being a useless partner, he takes that like her saying that humans are worthless and says that if Lunella doesn't complete her school project with Eduardo, he'll wipe out the human race. Nah, turns out he was just messing with Lunella there. The Beyonder is just such an fun entertaining villain, he's no doubt my favorite villain of the show.
The villains in this series are relatively decent, most of them serve their purpose for each episode that they are in, some are sympathetic and get redeemed at the end of each episode, most of them don't, so this show's villains are pretty solid, now let's talk about...
5. The Morals & Messages
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur has the basic kinds of lessons you would see in most kids shows; however, it's the executions that matter here and they way Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur teaches it's lessons is great! Let me give you an example; Episode 3, this episode has Lunella learning to be patient and that she shouldn't rush things. Basic moral on paper. Then later in episode a villain named Gravitas shows up and begins recking things. How is he defeated? Lunella goes and waits for him to run out of juice so he can't use his gravity powers.
What I like here is that the episode gets its moral across in a creative and interesting way; Lunella defeats Gravitas by waiting or being patient for him to run out of juice so he can't attack her anymore. It gets a moral across in a way that's both creative and entertaining to the audience without it feeling hamfisted. Another example; Episode 4, I already mentioned this episode in the characters section but this is one of my favorite episodes of the show so far. Like episode 3, it takes a pretty basic moral; don't be overly competitive, and does something interesting with it.
In the episode, a new AI comes to Lunella's school named LOS-307, a robot who was just built eight months ago, and Lunella goes to play chess against it. The robot tries to connect with Lunella and become friends, but Lunella is too focused on winning against them to connect. It gets so bad to the point where neither of them beat each other and Lunella is still playing against them even after school is over. And then later in the episode, when Lunella sneaks back into the school to beat LOS once and for all, they end up overheating which causes them to go evil, LOS tells Lunella this before this happens but Lunella is still so focused on winning that she doesn't listen.
Lunella was so focused on winning that she didn't get to connect with someone and she ended up almost getting killed because she didn't listen to LOS's warnings. It takes a moral that has been done to death and does something interesting with it. Another example is episode 9 where Lunella creates a app so she can skip all of the boring parts of her life like doing chores, waiting in lines, and other stuff, only learn that life isn't meant to be a highlight reel, rather its about the small moments in between that give life meaning. Episode 14 is another example, where Lunella has to overcome some childhood trauma where she got lost in a theme park without her grandma Mimi, and encounters a scary clown.
Normally the message here is that you should get over your fear, but the show takes a different direction with this and says that fear isn't something you should get over, it's something that you should get through and that it's OK to be scared, as it's something that we always have to deal with.
This show is great at teaching morals in a way that's both entertaining and doing different and more interesting things with those morals. They never feel hamfisted or anything, and the show adds it's own spin on morals that have been done to death by doing them in interesting ways. But there are two episodes that I think are the best at this, both of which are the two best episodes of the show. Those episodes are episodes 5 and 11. These episodes tackle the topics of hair discrimination and gentrification respectively, which are both topics you wouldn't see being talked about in a kids show, especially in a Disney TVA show.
Now, I'm not the one to judge how well these episodes handle these topics, but by the looks of it from other people who have seen this show it looks like both episodes handled these topics very well. Episode 5 has Lunella try to make a hair relaxer for picture day that is coming up after a girl from school made fun of her hair. Unfortunately, she ends up becoming bald as all of her hair falls of and gains sentience in the form of a villain called Mane, who is all of Lunella's hair. And then later in the episode Mane goes and sabotages random stuff for Lunella and then after they both meet eye to eye Lunella goes to talk to her family and reveals to them what happened.
And then we get this wonderful scene with Lunella's Mom and Grandmother after Lunella tells then what happened. Lunella's Mom and Grandmother both comfort Lunella by telling her that they've been in similair situations like Lunella, where they both tried to "fix" their hair but they ended up getting bald as well. And then they tell Lunella that she shouldn't believe the lies people say about her hair, that it's messy and ugly, and that to love your hair is to love yourself.
It's a new spin on the "looks aren't everything" message, except it talks about hair issues, Lunella got caught up in what one person thought of her hair so she tried to fix it, and then later in the episode when Lunella goes to stop Mane, she realizes that she has been fighting herself and that she wasn't loving herself when she tried to "fix" her hair when she thought it was ugly because someone said it was. This episode imo did a great job with its moral and the fact that the show had the balls to cover a topic like this is impressive. And then there's episode 11, I have already talked about this one in the last section so I won't repeat myself here, but as I said in the characters section this episode talks about gentrification very well and it does absolute wonders for Lunella as a character.
Lunella learns that, as Moon Girl, she has a voice and that voice is one for the community, and she approves of the changes Marcy and Marty propose at first, until she sees it's changing the block for the worst. And then in the episode she learns to use her voice wisely. Episode 11 is just a phenomenal episode for how it tackles gentrification and what it does for Lunella's character, best episode of the show hands down.
This show is great at teaching lessons and the fact its able to cover these topics so well is amazing. But wait, there's one more thing I need to talk about in this show, and that's...
6. The Finale
Ok so, this section contains MAJOR spoilers for the final two episodes of the first season. If you don't want to be spoiled, skip this section. Now. You have been warned. Anyways, the finale comprises of last two episodes; episode 15 and episode 16 titled "OMG Issue 1" and "OMG Issue 2" respectively. Episode 15 has a lot of reveals thrown at you, such as the reveal that Mimi is the original Moon Girl, ya know, the scientist that Lunella got her superhero name from? And it also introduces a new antagonist in the series who will likely be the big bad of show; Maris Morlak, who used to be Mimi's partner/best friend before turning evil.
First, let's talk about Morlak as a villain; he's definitely intriguing. His backstory is that he and Mimi built a machine that could create portals into other dimensions, and their racist boss presented it without them and took the credit. After the portal gets opened and the boss gets grabbed in and his ring falls off, Morlak now wants to use the portal to open dimsions so his and Mimi's work will never be erased. He's a good villain, his threatening, he has some great charisma, and his motivation is solid. I'm very interested to see what the series does with him in season 2, he has a lot of promise and I can't wait how the show fleshes him out further in the future.
Now let's talk about what these episodes do for Mimi as a character. Mimi before these episodes was just a cool grandma who supported Lunella throughout the series, but these episodes reveal that she was the previous Moon Girl who built the portal with Morlak as I already stated. Episode 16 is a really beautiful flashback scene of Mimi's life after she went into hiding from Enclave (the evil organization that Morlak is taking control of) which shows her first meeting Lunella's grandfather, all the way to when Lunella was little. It's a really cute flashback and it got me in the feels for a bit. So I think these last two episodes did some great stuff with Mimi's character, and I can't wait to see what they do with it in season 2.
Alright, now let's talk about how these final two episodes end; to add in a little context here, Morlak captures both Lunella and Mimi to rebuild the portal after destroying pretty much everything in Lunella's lab, but Lunella escapes while Mimi stays probably to try and protect Lunella. And then Lunella and Casey along with Devil go and devise a plan to save Mimi and stop the portal. They go there and have a fight and then the episode ends with Lunella sacrificing herself by going into the portal so her and Mimi can push the buttons on the opposite sides so the portal can close.
Wow...those episodes where fantastic! They threw so much at you and I'm so intrigued to see how season 2 will play out considering how episode 16 ended. Like, damn, Lunella is in another DIMENSION now. I have so many questions, but not the kind where I'm confused, the kind where I'm wondering what's going to happen next. How will the rest of Lunella's family react to her being missing? Will they also get to now that she's Moon Girl? What kind of dimension did Lunella end up on? What are they going to do with Morlak? I am SO excited to see where this series goes after these episodes, I can't wait for season 2 to come out so I can see where the show takes all of these major new plotlines revealed in these last two episodes. Oh and did I mention that the songs in these episodes were FIRE??? That song in episode 16 is my favorite song of the whole show, it's just SO damn catchy and I love how it's a 70s remix of the show's theme song (which is already great btw). These episodes were overall fantastic.
I have one complaint though; and that's with one scene in episode 16. So basically while Lunella runs back to lab to save Devil the lab blows up with Devil inside, so it looks like he's dead...until it's revealed that he escaped the lab. Um, HOW did Devil escape the lab before it blew up? The timer was already up by the time he woke up from all of his wounds so...how did he escape??? That's the only thing that bothered me about these last two episodes though, aside from that, these episodes were great and a fantastic finale to the first season. I can't wait to see where season 2 takes this series.
7. Conclusion
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is an AMAZING series. It's so damn well written with loveable characters great messages and an awesome finale. The songs are great, the animation is great, the characters are great just...everything about this show is great. It's so damn fun, and after watching some garbage like High Guardian Spice or PPG 2016, this show felt like a breath of fresh air for me. I highly recommend you watch this show, its one of the best Disney TVA shows out there and my favorite TV series from the channel.
Score: 10/10

Actually Madam BattleMaiden, I have a few(I hope, no promises.) question for YOU, you don’t have to answer BUT!
What are your fanfics that you read and like? Can be any, but also can be Ut AUs related! Or maybe fanfics you suggest??
Do you make playlists for your own fanfic? Your characters? Or May others stories? Others characters??
Do you do a reference sheet for all your characters or is it all in your head? Or perhaps it’s on many different pieces of paper, media, apps?😂 chaotic organization even?
~💚𝒯𝒽ℯℴ💚~
So I basically just read reader inserts because I like the style a lot, unless the fandom is severely lacking in that department then I may branch out. I really like slow burns or soulmate au’s. I haven’t read any in a while really, but when I do it tends to be for the fandom I am currently hyper focused on. For undertale there are a few I really like, and need to go back and re-read.
The good boy by @absurdmageart is currently my favorite thing ever. It is the only fanfic I have ever finished reading only to immediately re-read it all again. I also just love Money and how mage writes him so I’ve been obsessed. Plus I relate a lot to Chip and how he reacts to situations so I found it easy to relate to.
For more recommendations though I would just look at my bookmarks in AO3. I don’t tend to bookmark work unless I’m really into it although not all of them are Undertale and I haven’t read some of them in a while.
I don’t make playlists for my fics, I totally could but I think if I did they would be more character playlists. I absolutely have some songs that I associate with these skeletons and other characters although I’m not sure if these would be any good and I haven’t done it yet. @artsy-potato did make a playlist for the fifth clover aka MC and some others but the fifth clover one is a banger and I listen to it all the time. Here’s that post if you are interested. Maybe one day when I’m bored I’ll make playlists for the boys.
Interesting you mention character Ref sheets because I’m actually making some right now! They have a lot of writing on them because obviously I’ll use them for writing but I have at least tried to draw some skeletons, I’m going to post them when I’m done, Edge’s should be finished this week at least. Before these it has just been like notebooks or random google docs to sprawl info on. Although I think I also still have notes from like three phones ago with chapter ideas in it.

what i'm listening to 9/5/2023 (song notes under cut)
spot. link//yt link
Laura Les - Haunted: haunted. by laura les.
Laura Les/osno1 - ditch a body in the laundry (feat. Dylan Brady): i'll make no secret of it; i've been a sad little dog this past month. and this song is like PERFECT sad little dog soundtrack material (the whole ep is, and lots of laura's work if we're honest... but more on that later). there's this absolutely ice-cold novocaine hatred instilled in it, the kind of agony that stings the skin because the very action of having to exist as a physical animal hurts so bitterly. i'm really terribly obsessed with it and have also cried a lot to it and i really like the addition of dylan because while his part is short it's very good. links to this post also
House Of Pain - On Point: i lovvvve house of pain omg ^-^ their second album is kind of a cult classic and while idk if i'd say i like it better than the first, it's still real good. and this is a banger single. that horn riff? awesome. we did this one for videos night (which i am still planning more of!!) and it was fun. there is a little surprise slur moment in the last verse which is. y'know. but as far as the sound goes i think this is basically unparalleled, i could listen to songs that sounnd just like this forever and ever
Radiohead - How To Disappear Completely: did i mention that i was sad. bc i was. this was another song i turned to when lying in bed late at night and just really going through it. the idea of being able to disappear off to somewhere, anywhere that wasn't where i was...... well you get it. tears a gal up. it's almost like this is a good song on a good album or something
Madness - One Step Beyond: yeah okay a couple songs from the skaugust WILT stuck around. i just adore that fucking deep growly riff that comes in after the spoken intro, i can never ever get enough of it. and it's so danceable but still maintains that narstyness. good good shit i love ska so terribly much and especially the rockingest rocksteady beat..... of MADNESS
Nirvana - Blew: this should probably be higher tbh but it's close competition. despite remaining relatively unknown when held up next to something like about a girl, blew is SUCH a highlight from bleach (and i do really like bleach). the way kurt's voice lays over the main riff makes it so chunky and layered but it also feels dissonant, like it was accidental or improvised. every day i become slightly more of a nirvana fangirl.... there's worse things to be
Ada Rook - UNDERNEATH IT ALL: GOD i fucking love this album. it can be really dumb sometimes but it's so just. grrrrrrrrrh. ada rook is one of those musicians who just Gets It, i've often said that her music is the type of music i wish i could make. and the addition of ash nerve on this one creates that nice balance between abrasive screaming cyber rage and prettier clean sung choruses and harmonies. kind of the same effect the two achieve on angel electronics projects but i prefer the overall sound of this a lot
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - See Me: does anybody have the video of that weird as fuck animation with this song over it....... i watched that and was like idk what to do with this but the song jams i wonder who this is. and i found it in the notes and was like ahhhh that makes sense. the glizzard. and yeah idk the descending melody that kind of quavers around the lead line is just really otherworldly and takes me in right away each time i hear it. it's cool
The Specials - A Message To You Rudy: i feel i've said pretty much everythingg i wanted to say about this song. it's just one of the catchiest damn things ever
House Of Pain - I'm A Swing It: hey they're back!!! this one doesn't stick in my head as much as on point but again the sound is just immaculate and there's always so many corny-but-actually-really-good lines. it also always interests me how much everlast referecnes rock musicians and the like. he knows the audience lol
laura les/osno1 - nothing just hanging out: less of a song really, but still so representative of that coldness that represents me. none of the cemetary stuff is gonna be available on spotify, those are my local bandcamp files, and i don't have an individual upload of this track on youtube nor the time to create one, so i just put in an upload of the full ep. just listen to the whole thing it's really good and not that long. but yeah sorry lol
Mark Morrison - Return Of The Mack: i think this appeared on a previous WILT but i mean. talk about the catchiest things ever!!!!
Crisis Sigil - Blood Semen Box-Elder: a favorite album cut from the new crisis sigil. this release my first proper exposure to the project and mannnn that shit is brutal. this one esp methinks. once again. rook music good
Nicki Minaj - Roman Holiday: was listening to this one because of worstsongever and being like whoever nominated this doesn't know shit. this slaps hard. i was never like especially a nicki fan but this just straight up goes. weird as fuck but that's kind of the appeal. if you want a REAL bad song, that will come later
The Front Bottoms - Au Revoir (Adios): no not this one!! well. maybe a bit. idk i like folk punk but never really cared about these guys that much? but i've met some people recently who do like them and was like yeah i could give this another spin. i do admittedly alwways think of the post that's like "this gif is silent but it still manages to sound like shit." it's not as deep of a song as it's probably supposed to be, but i still think there's something there. a lot of folk punk songs focus around character writing that acknowledge their flaws, including (and sometimes especially) the narrator and this is a good example without coming out and stating it. it piqued my inch rest
Roxy Radclyffe - Exemption's Dominion: i'll be real i don't exactly "get" what this song is about but it is freaky and cool. i was really interested to see the music video when it popped up in my subscriptions. the part of the song that does get stuck in my head is the little two-word pitchshifted phrases in one of the verses
Haggus - Uneducated Politician: someone recommended "mincecore" to me, and these guys in particular. weird as fuck sound but i think it's fun! maybe it's just the bad recording quality but the growls on this track in particular come out sounding reallll fucked up, which is what drew me to this selection in particular. still got a lot to learn about this whole scene but it's made it this far with me!
MC Boing - Car Song: tbh i don't tend to really like danny harle, i don't mind him but it's just not really my deal. this one got me, though, despite being dumb as all fuck. we are driving in a car car car car car car. mc boing indeed
Eminem - FACK: you did this to me, worstsongever (R.I.P.). it's annoying to me that i actually don't completely hate this thing.... it manages to be so stupid it loops back around to being funny for about a minute and then it just gets so old so quickly. but somehow still found itself stuck in my head :( many such cases
#i am on a fucking time budget rn i hope i didn't mess this up at all. it's rpobably fine#*char noises*#talking pop

So I’m listening through “Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge today for my walk down mcr memory lane, and these are my thoughts.
Ive listened to some songs on revenge unlike bullets in which I hadn’t listened to any of the songs previously, so most of these I’ve listened to repeatedly but some I haven’t listened to at all.
Helena: Absolute banger, absolute classic. A song I listen to frequently and it moves right through you. One of my personal favorites and for good reason. Not to mention it’s iconic music video. The chorus fucks hard just fucking great.
Give ‘Em Hell Kid: Ok this one is new to me. Funky guitar opening which I love from them. Oh fuck yea audio distortion tasty. This one absolutely fucks man. I love this vibe, It’s got a good pulse to it.
To The End: another one I hadn’t listened to yet. Oh this one is fun, vibes vibes huh 🏳️🌈. Marry me burry me huh, some 30 seconds shit lol. This one definitely feels like the music of the era, I like it. Not alot of thoughts, but I don’t have many in general.
You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison: another new listen for me. Oh I love this vibe. Love the beat. Oh I love this, like I love the way this sounds. Also 🏳️🌈. Guitar is going apeshit yea this might be a new favorite.

The Jetset Life Is Gonna Kill You: another I hadn’t heard yet. Ooo good rhythm and the organ. Oh this one fucks. I dig this. Chorus really slaps. I like this one, maybe not love yet but It might grow on me, I’m definitely listening again for the chorus.

Thank You For The Venom: a personal fav like in my top 20 mcr songs. Guitar goes particularly hard and it’s fucks so severely. Actively headbanging. Hallelujah, lock and load is such a fucking vibe. Christ I love this one so much, I should listen to this more.
Hang ‘Em High: another new listen. Oh hell yea yehaw vibes and heavy guitar. Oh yes this fucks, this fucks HARD. I love cowboy vibes, I was raised on country radio so it’s like permanently ingrained in my brain. This one might be another new fav damn,
It’s Not A Fashion Statement, It’s A Deathwish: I’ve listened it a few times but not much. Really tasty opening guitar. It slaps really hard. Doesn’t quite fuck but does slap. This song really does embody the word “Vengance” tho, a good vibe you can rock to.

I'm not studying today, but I'm listening to SUMMA (2018) anyway.
Sara throws us another curveball in regards to genre shifts. The synths from SOLUS have shifted away from the 80's synthpop to something darker and more dramatic and modern.
The opening track, Avaa se ovi, is a dramatic, attention-grasping piece that grabs you by the throat from the first beat and doesn't let you go until the song ends.
And the curveballs don't stop, the next song, Kohina, is a thoughtful and melancholic piece that calms you down after the drama from the first track.
My favourite track on this album has to be Valve because of the lyrics. The lyrics allude to some omnipresent, vague beast that preys on you in your room, in your mind, in your bed. It really resonates with me because it sounds like it could be an allegory for mental illness. It's easily one of my fave songs from Sara.
I also have to mention Tässä on tulevaisuus. The chorus is out of this world in that song! It's dramatic, it's dark, it has evocative lyrics with interesting imaginery. It's a really good song.
Ei me olla ainoita and Ethän vielä kuole are an incredible pair of songs to place right after each other. Ei me olla ainoita is the heaviest song on the album and Ethän vielä kuole is one of the lightest. The contrast between the two songs is incredible.
Anna voimia is also a great sound. It opens with a bright, soaring synth riff and continues to have beautiful vocals and the break in the middle with the distant eagle sounds. It's a downright gorgeous song.
The first time I listened to SUMMA, I thought that they had left the synths from SOLUS behind, but now that I listen to it more closely, I notice that the synths are still there, but way different than you'd expect from SOLUS. They're now darker, more integrated and harmonious in the classic, melodic and heavy Sara sound than they were in SOLUS. You could say that the synths in SUMMA are more mature than they were in SOLUS. It's like they were experimenting with synths in SOLUS and using the factory settings, but in SUMMA they've fiddle with the settings and learned to use them in a way that suits Sara more. This isn't to say that SOLUS is worse for it, I absolutely love the sound in SOLUS, like I said yesterday. It's very interesting and fun to hear Sara's sound shift and evolve.
Overall, SUMMA is an incredible album. I cannot overstate how good this album is. The songs are dark and dramatic, the lyrics are evocative and thought-provoking, the synths and the guitars work together beautifully. It should tell you something that I've added all except one track to my Sara faves playlist. This is a solid no-skip album, banger after banger after banger. If you like your music dark and dramatic, this is the album for you.

↬ pairing: model! kim seokjin x university student reader, other members will make appearances
↬ genre/aus: heavy angst, zero to no fluff, (i’m so sorry y’all), non idol au, lovers to exes, slight college/university au
↬ wc: 3.2k
↬ summary: in which the idealistic love you crave, mostly seen in the cliche rom-coms, turns sour after your once blissful relationship with your longtime boyfriend comes crashing down.
↬ rating(s): pg15, nc17 (see warnings)
↬ tw: heavy swearing, heartbreak, (yup this one’s a sad one folks), sad ending, broken relationship (jin becomes too busy and begins to neglect reader), zero fluff (well, ok, maybe like a crumb or two), the other members are actual sweethearts and reader’s support system in this drabble <3, slight mentions of cheating rumors (jin doesn’t actually cheat on reader, its mere speculation)
↬ a/n: this drabble is part of the ‘footnote’ drabble series and is based off the song ‘movies’ by conan gray, which, is an absolute banger by the way (i highly recommend it) also yeah this one’s going to be sad asf im so so sorry:(( sending y’all all the hugs and tissues <3333
at first, loving jin was easy, it was almost natural. he was unfailingly polite, a true gentleman, intelligent, and not to mention unbelievably handsome. it was a given, you supposed, since jin happened to be the most sought-after model in korea. he was also one of the youngest to have ever broken out into the fashion industry, having his first career break at just the age of nineteen.
jin was also goofy, and always knew how to make you laugh, especially when you were feeling down after a shitty day of classes, having to deal with equally shitty professors. he often surprised you with spontaneous dinner dates, heart-warming and dizzying kisses under starlit skies, and the countless presents he’d gifted you, special occasion or not.
you’d been so certain that a relationship between him, a famous fashion model and you, a sleep-deprived and financially unstable university student would never work. after all, jin could make anyone fall for him without as so much as breathing. all it would take is one charming and alluring smile, and anyone would fall hook, line, and sinker. he was devastatingly handsome, with black hair that fell over chiseled cheekbones, light brown eyes that held nothing but kindness and warmth, and plush lips that always looked so kissable.
of course, jin had proven to you that that wasn’t the case, and that he had no desire to date anyone in the industry, regardless of the expectations that the media, or really, anyone had of him. “no one is allowed to tell me who i should or shouldn’t date, because even if they did, i wouldn’t listen.” jin had said on the night he’d confessed to you, when you’d doubted anyone would approve of him dating a college student.
“i may not be perfect, in fact, i’m anything but that. i’m quite self-deprecating, despite how confident i seem, and i actually hate being asked questions about myself. i’d rather be asked the stupidest questions than what my favorite dining spot in europe is, or whether this rumor about me is true. i guess what i’m trying to say that i’m human, i have doubts and fears and get my heart broken just like everyone else in this world. and, because i’m human, i can love whoever i want, and if the world doesn’t approve, then fuck it. i like you, and that’s all that matters.”
his confession was enough to tug at your heartstrings and win you over, for you’d tearfully said that you felt the same. you’d then been pulled into a kiss that was so dizzying it made your legs weak, and if it’d not been for jin’s strong arms holding you close, then you would’ve collapsed, right then and there. and thus, your relationship began, every date, every stolen kiss, and all the sweet gestures all felt straight out of a fairytale, a typical rom-com film, even.
you’d always been somewhat of a hopeless romantic, living vicariously through the cheesy and cliche rom-coms you’d watch on rainy days, often fantasizing about what your own relationship would be like, crying over countless romance books, yearning and wishing that you too could have a “perfect” romance.
the rom-coms always made love look so effortless, with the girl and the guy falling head over heels for each other, and through a crazy twist of fate, they’d end up together, blissfully happy and ignorant of the troubles they’d likely face. of course, you’d always ignore the negative sides to a relationship, trapping yourself in a happy bubble.
it was easy to love jin, for despite his busy schedule, always made time for you, no matter if he was set to walk new york fashion the next day and had to be on a plane at dawn, he always, always, made sure to spend time with you before jetting off to yet another fashion show or photoshoot.
there were times where jin rarely got to see you, and while your days were lonely and often quiet, you couldn’t bring yourself to resent him. after all, you had agreed to enduring the late night calls and texts, and sometimes, nothing at all. jin’s career was taking off, and you would hate yourself if you got in the way of him doing what he loved.
thus, you learned to cope with jin’s absence, throwing yourself into your studies, trying to think about anything but jin, who was million miles away, probably partying with famous models and walking the runway, with thousands of cameras pointed at him, shutters clicking away. he would text you every now and then, checking up on you, and asking if you were okay.
and because you hadn’t wanted to worry him, you’d lied everytime, saying that you were fine, and that you hoped that he was getting plenty of rest and eating a proper meal whenever he could, and that you loved him. jin had been the one to say it first, on your one-year anniversary, gazing at you as if you were the only star in the sky, full of pure and unadulterated love.
dating long distance was hard, and before you knew it, everything came crashing down. jin started to pull away from you, not bothering to text and call like he usually did, and his visits home were short, fleeting, even, and he’d leave you with a mere kiss on the cheek. you’d tried not to resent him for it at first, for you knew that jin had a lot on his plate, and had so much pressure surrounding him.
jin also cared a lot about his reputation and career, as it’d taken him years for the public to see him as more than just a pretty face, though he tried not to show it. you could tell, though, from the way his broad shoulders would tense in interviews whenever the journalist would ask him about his love life or anything else invasive. he was careful not to tell them who he was dating, just that he was seeing someone.
it’d hurt, you’d admit, for jin to refer to you as an anonymous person, and not someone who was dear to him. but then, jin had a reputation to uphold, and there was no way he’d not be criticized for dating a non-model. then, the rumors started. you’d tried to pay them no mind, for you knew jin would never cheat on you, but then, the pictures were released. pictures of jin with his arm around a gorgeous, slim, model with a smile plastered on his face, one that was usually directed at you, light brown eyes soft, crinkling at the corners.
the pictures were enough to make your heart ache, and start to doubt that jin actually loved you. you waited and waited for an explanation from jin, confirmation that none of the rumors were true and vice versa, but none was given. you’d spend the following weeks sobbing into your pillow every night, shoving all the presents and gifts jin gave you in your closet, for the sight of them made you even more devastated than you already were.
thankfully, your sulking didn’t last long, for your best friends, namjoon, jungkook, jimin, taehyung, yoongi, and hoseok bombarded you with texts and calls and voicemails, all of which you ignored, for you couldn’t bring yourself to face them in the horrid state you were in.
after about a week or two, said friends barged into your dorm, led by jimin, whose expression was unreadable, green eyes filled with sadness. you’d burst out into tears then, feeling your heart ache so much it almost hurt, and spent thirty minutes sobbing into jimin’s chest, while your other friends gathered around you and rubbed comforting circles into your back.
yoongi insisted on making you meals, despite your protests, sending namjoon and hoseok to the grocery store on campus for ingredients. jungkook made it his duty to watch each and every single episode of haikyu with you, making a huge bowl of popcorn for you to share, and wrapping you up in a soft blanket he’d brought from his own dorm.
taehyung’s way of comforting you was a bit unique, to say the least. the blue-haired male was known for being a bit overprotective, at least when it came to his friends and the people he cared about. thus, he insisted on taking you shopping to buy new outfits, one that would “make jin realize that he’s being a fucking asshole” (his words). when you’d asked him how you buying new clothes was relevant, taehyung had simply said, “if he doesn’t end up on your doorstep, kneeling and begging you for forgiveness, then let’s just say my efforts are in vain.”
taehyung’s plan, it turned out, was to dress you up in countless outfits, ones that made you feel and look confident, more so than you had been in months, then post them all over social media, in hopes that jin would see you, immediately feel guilty about he’s been treating you lately, and come running back. but of course, it was only in vain, for jin had only seen those pictures as a sign that you were happy, and nothing was wrong.
and because you were feeling petty and hurt and neglected, you asked jimin to be your pretend boyfriend. jimin, to your surprise, had agreed. “why not? and who would pass up the chance to make the kim seokjin jealous?” and so, you’d posted pictures with jimin’s arm around you as you both sat in the campus starbucks, gazing at each other as if you were deeply in love, flirty smiles plastered on jimin’s face in every single one.
it was wrong, and you knew that, but a part of you wanted to see what jin would do, how he’d react to an unknown man all over his girlfriend. frustratingly enough, it didn’t work, and you felt completely and utterly helpless. to distract you, namjoon took you on countless museum dates (purely platonic, of course), took you on relaxing bike rides and picnics, and even to a greenhouse, where you admired colorful flowers and plants alike.
hoseok was a dance major, and often had the university’s dance studio to himself. so, at dawn, he dragged you out of bed and to the spacious studio, teaching you choreography to your favorite txt songs. and, for the first time in weeks, you’d finally forgotten all about the man you once thought so highly of.
then, because the universe was so cruel, jin showed up on your doorstep about a month later, looking as resplendent and handsome as ever in a soft, oversized white sweater and dark jeans. his long black hair was now a startling shade of lavender, making his light brown eyes pop. luckily, your friends had insisted on staying with you, and had been so for the last few weeks, and were the ones that saved you from talking. namjoon, ever the one to take charge, had pushed you behind him immediately, and you felt jungkook’s arm bracketing your waist, holding you tight, and jimin and taehyung’s warm hands on your shoulders.
hoseok and yoongi flanked namjoon on either side, looking every bit intimidating, arms crossed and giving jin the iciest glares they could muster. and, under any other circumstances, you would’ve found the sight hilarious. namjoon practically towered over jin, and he looked down at the latter, expression cold.
“what the hell do you want?” he asked, and despite the calm in namjoon’s voice, you could make out the telltale twitch of his jaw, which meant that the tall male was anything but happy. “i just need to talk to my girlfriend-” jin started, and namjoon cut him off with a cruel laugh.
“do you really think you have the right to call her that after the way you’ve treated her lately? y/n’s really too good for you, i mean, if i were her, i would’ve dumped your sorry ass the minute those articles came out.” at that, jin’s eyebrows furrowed with confusion. “what articles?”
yoongi scoffed. “drop the act, yeah?” “what are you talking about?” hoseok let out a tired sigh. “the articles. you know, the ones about you dating that model.” jin’s face had paled. “what?” namjoon chuckled lowly. “you seriously didn’t know?” “n-no i had no idea.” jin stammered.
“ok, fine, let’s say you didn’t know. so, if it’s not true, then why the hell didn’t you call y/n to tell her that?” jin, for once, was at a loss for words, and namjoon just regarded him calmly, crossing his muscular arms over his broad chest. “though you hurt y/n, she obviously still cares about you. i’ll let you talk to her, but if you make her cry even more than she already has, i will not hesitate to beat your ass.”
jin gulped nervously, but nodded. namjoon shifted slightly so that the former could pass, and yoongi and hoseok barely spared the model a glance as he walked over to where you were standing with jimin, jungkook, and taehyung. jungkook immediately moved to stand next to you, arm never leaving your waist.
“here to gloat?” jimin snarled, light green eyes ablaze with anger, and jin winced. “no, i just want to talk.” jungkook tightened his grip on your waist ever so slightly, and you leaned into the touch a bit, heart hammering against your chest. “you can talk to her, but we’re not leaving.” taehyung cut in, glaring at jin, cerulean eyes cold.
jin managed a nervous smile, and slowly turned to face you, expression so sincere that you nearly gave in, but instead you fought the urge to run over and throw yourself into his arms. “explain.” you managed, voice raspy from disuse, and jin’s shoulders seemed to sag in relief. “i’m a shit boyfriend, i know that. i know that i haven’t been the best lately, and there’s no excuse for that. you deserve the entire world, to be loved and cherished and cared for. you don’t deserve to be treated like garbage, and yet, i went and did just that. i’m the biggest asshole on the planet for ghosting you for this long, for neglecting you. my pride and ego got the better of me, and all i could focus on was my career. what i should’ve done was pay more attention to you, be the boyfriend that you need, be there for you on your darkest days and to love and cherish you. as for the articles, i honestly had no idea that they even existed. while i did attend an afterparty after the fashion show, all i wanted to do was get on the first plane back home. i had to apologize for neglecting you, i couldn’t wait any longer.”
as jin spoke, you fought back the tears, feeling your heart ache with each and every word. you were thankful that jungkook, jimin, and taehyung hadn’t left your side, for you were certain that with jin in front of you, you wouldn’t be able to function, let alone stand. “please, let me find a way to make it up to you.” jin pleaded, light brown eyes shining with desperate tears, and exhaled slowly, in an attempt to soothe your beating heart.
“i-i’m sorry, jin, but i don’t think i can do that.” you murmured, sounding calmer than you felt, voice hoarse from disuse. “while i appreciate that you flew all the way here to apologize to me, don’t you think you could’ve done so sooner? i mean, it’s been months, jin. months. do you understand how hurt i was when you’d stopped texting and calling? i wasn’t asking for much, i just wanted to know if you were okay and if you were eating properly and getting enough rest. hell, i wouldn’t even cared if you sent me a fucking period, as long as i know you’re okay. i just wanted to see your face, just once, but i knew you were busy, and i didn’t want to disturb you. god, i tried not to resent you all this time, but you’ve made it impossible not to.”
you took a deep, bracing breath before continuing, giving jungkook a grateful smile, which he returned with a gentle grin of his own, dark brown eyes sympathetic. “it’s not even the rumors or the stupid articles, it’s the fact that you neglected me, the fact that you left me in the dark. and, your visits really didn’t feel like ones at all, because you spent the majority of them sleeping or getting drinks with your friends.”
“now, i have no problem with you hanging out with your friends, but the fact that you just up and left without so much as an i love you or even a kiss? you lied to me, jin. you said you didn’t care what anyone thought, and that if you wanted to date someone like me, then so be it. but in every interview where you were asked if you were seeing someone, you just said yes, and you made me sound like as if i was a one-night stand or a meaningless fling. i get that you don’t want the press butting into your love life, but hte fact that you don’t want to tell anyone makes me think that you’re ashamed of me. hell, i haven’t even met any of your friends from the industry, now that i think about.”
“are you really that embarrassed that i’m your girlfriend? if so, why did you even bother with me? did you do that to play with my feelings, to lead me on? were you just taking pity on me?” you were a sobbing mess at this point, hating every tear and every shuddering, pathetic gasp.
jin merely stood a few feet away, expression ridden with anguish, sadness, and desparaton, light brown eyes shiny with tears. “w-what does this mean for us?” “as much as i love you, this can’t go on. we can’t keep going on like this. i guess we weren’t meant to be. thank you for everything jin, thank you for giving me the fairytale romance i so desired. thank you for showing me what it was like to love and to be loved. goodbye, jin, know that i will always consider you a good friend.”
with that, you gave jin one last sad, watery smile, and let jungkook lead you out of the house you once thought to be your home. now, as you walked away from it, it felt distant, foreign, almost. you threw yourself into jungkook’s arms, and the latter crushed you tight against his chest, rubbing comforting circles on your back as you sobbed, clutching the soft fabric of his t-shirt. your heart was aching, so much it hurt, and felt as if it could crack at any moment.
everything hurt, and nothing would ever be the same ever again, not without jin in your life. jin was the only person who ever made you feel loved, the one person you bared your entire heart and soul to, as well as the one who broke your heart into a million pieces. you were sure you would never love again. loving him was easy, but it also hurt.
a/n: this was a struggle to write ahaha :) anyways i hope you all liked this <3 i’m actually awful at writing angst so i apologize if this sucks :(( but ahhhh this is the first drabble in my ‘footnote’ drabble series and i cannot wait to write/post the rest of them <333 the next one is going to be a lot fluffier than this, i promise <3 love you all, and, as always, feedback is not required, but always appreciated <3333

“yes, there has been talk of strange goings-on in the woods, ghost sightings and the like. but… ...they're never from particularly reliable sources.”
“i live with a ghost. there's a ghost in that house. he's like a civil war cavalier, with all the hair and the hat and all that. and every time i walk into the living room, he doffs his cap. and on his shoulder, he's got this crow that barks at me. it means i spend less time in the house, really. not because of him, because he's-he's quite peaceable. but the crow is malevolent. and i'm not having that. i can't share my house with a malevolent bird.”
“that's haunted as fuck.”
“am i going mad here, or does that, to you, look like that's where just ghost will hang out all the time?”
“look at him, little red riding twat.”
“if he's got an attitude with me, i swear to god, i'll just grab the steering wheel and drive us all into a wall.”
“it's a bit annoying, actually. cos this is not the first or the second time i've had to tell you, really, is it?”
“his sparkle has just gone.”
“you know my dad actually wrote the song wonderwall on the back of a beer mat in the space of ten minutes, don't you?”
“i've just got a tiny, tiny, tiny little favour to ask you.”
“when i think of [name], i think of someone who is very loyal. and very, very stupid. sort of more stupid than loyal. sort of 70% stupid, 30% loyal, probably. because she's very loyal. but extremely stupid.”
“do you know what? i actually don't think he loves you at all and i don't think he's ever loved you.”
“all right, that's harsh and unnecessary, but fine.”
“frankly, she is behaving like the antichrist.”
“i literally just got here.”
“you are such an unemotional slab of ham, [name].”
“i've got so much shit on that man you would not believe.”
“there's something in my eye.”
“i just can't quit him, you know?”
“yeah, we might have a fiery relationship, but when we're together, it's just… it's just pure chemistry, isn't it?”
“i'm not proud of it, believe me. but at the end of the day, i'm a very vindictive person, you know? it is what makes me me.”
“i basically went out and bought an alpaca off gumtree for £500. of all the mistakes i've made in my life, that was possibly the largest. definitely the physically largest.”
“yeah, i really don't wanna talk about that.”
“her only loyalty is to herself, staffies, and the tv channel dave… ...which, in my opinion, is a tv channel made by knuckle-draggers for knuckle-draggers.”
“i can't move on till i've seeked revenge, unfortunately.”
“if that was in france, that would be fine, but we're not in france.”
“the only thing we had in common, really, was stealing, and that was more my thing that i got him onto. but it just goes to show, you know, some friendships last and some friendships don't, but that's just the way it is.”
“you know it was me that got you sacked, don't you?”
“the thing i learnt about friendship is, you gotta accept each other's flaws, no matter how toxic they may be.”
“shit-stirring from beyond the grave.”

thoughts on the glass animals album dreamland? (info dump welcome)
YES hi hello thank you
I talked like,, a lot so I’m sparing y'all with a cut
The album itself is just so well organized and executed it’s insane. The entire album just captures the feeling of taking a nostalgic trip through your own life and the way that it ends up forgotten in a way, sickly sweet and vague, subdued, and so easy to get completely lost in. And part of what makes it so well done is the pure authenticity it’s completely drenched in. The album itself didn’t exist until quarantine hit, they had been taking a break after a band member was injured and had to recover, and that isolation had that same impact on them as it did on most of us, and the result was this extremely genuine album embodying nostalgia itself.
As a band they’ve always done such an incredible job of maintaining a theme throughout their album that is consistent without becoming repetitive. The song Dreamland does such a perfect job of pulling you into the album, easing you into a subdued album, fuzzy around the edges but clear once you can hone in on the details, on what’s being said, perfectly reflective of the theme it’s introducing you to. While it’s doing that it’s also providing a smooth shift from the last song on the album before it, HTBAHB. Agnes leaves that album off on such an extremely a somber, desperate, and lost note, which Dreamland picks up, just as lost in itself, taking off so beautifully from Agnes’ “You’re gone but you’re on my mind, I’m lost but I don’t know why,” and getting into the why. But it does so by warning you first, “You see in kodachrome, you see in pink and gold.” This album is distorted, it’s not right, the colors are wrong and everything is sweeter than it should be. At the same time, it sets up for the songs to follow, like “That worst thing you said” for It’s All So Incredibly Loud and “You were ten years old, holding hands in the classroom, he had a gun on the first day of high school” for Space Ghost Coast to Coast. It’s those vague, unconnected memories that you haven't quite grasped onto yet in full, but you know you’re going to get lost in them once you do. You’re stepping back from the overload of information and action today to visit who you used to be and what made you who you are now.
Right after it, Tangerine does something that Life Itself did for HTBAHB, it smoothened the general sound’s transition between albums. Just as Life Itself, with its beat similar to the album before its own could have fit into ZABA with no issue, Tangerine could have been on HTBAHB without disrupting the album. The “retro” vibe, the themes revolving around both the nostalgia of Dreamland and those of past relationships deteriorating because of missed opportunities and growing apart fits so well into both albums, it’s such a great transition from the past album to the current. The “I’m begging, hands knees please, tangerine” is also a common expression used (often as a double entendre) by them, again like in Life Itself, with its chorus being “Come back down to my knees, gotta get back, gotta get free, come back down to my knees, lean back now, lean back and breathe,” which just sets up for a really smooth callback to previous songs and album. Something else that Tangerine establishes is something that’s been a running theme with Glass Animals since ZABA: fruit. There is a lot of fruit here. It used to be a running joke that Glass Animals wasn’t actually a band, but a cryptic pineapple worshipping cult (no amount of music made will fool me, this is definitely a pineapple cult). This album uses fruit to remind you of the sugary sweetness of nostalgia, but there’s more history and, well, fan specific nostalgia that goes with that metaphor, too.
Hot Sugar is similar to a later song, Waterfalls Coming Out Your mouth, in that it’s about someone who is so cool that they aren’t actually cool. The person isn’t genuine, the idea of them isn’t actually them, but this was someone that you still want to be anyways, because who wouldn’t want to be that cool? The song doesn’t have much deeper meaning underlying it compared to some other’s because that depth doesn’t exist here, with this person. You know they’re “faking it,” but it doesn’t really matter beyond deciding if you actually like them or if you just want to be them, and the answer is the latter. This song is also similar to another, later song, Tokyo Drifting, introducing the listener to this person that he wants to be like, referencing “Hot rubber on the tar,” and setting the stage for the later song to tell you more about what he wanted to be like. Also, once again, through a mention of watermelon, fruit continues to be a recurring theme in the earlier tracks on this album, when the trip through nostalgic memories is still more sweet than bitter.
Right after we get introduced to this idea of who he wanted to be, we move onto what became of someone he knew closely, shared a lot with, and very suddenly lost touch with through Space Ghost Coast to Coast. The music itself is reminiscent of the music he listened to at the time. This song, being a telling of something that actually happened, is so authentic and raw in how it ends up, all still told through the layer of confusion, hurt, and again, that sweetness of nostalgia, with “You look bizarre in the apricot” establishing a deceptively sweet but confused tone over something heavy through yet another fruit metaphor. This song also manages to hit on other songs from the album when he tries to delve into why his friend did what he did, “Were you bored of gender norms,” matching with Dreamland’s “Go ask your questions like “What makes a man?”,” “… of being alone,” matching Heat Waves’ “I don’t wanna be alone, you know it hurts me too,” and “… no mama home, a bad divorce” matching pretty much the entirety of Domestic Bliss. Like Hot Sugar, this song sets up for Tokyo Drifting, with his idea of who he wants to be but isn’t, with “Remember when you stole mom’s old Geo Metro, you wore her old bathrobe, too small to see the road.” There’s also more blatant references being made to both past shooters (Black cap back with a trench coat, ay) and the arguments afterwards of what motivated them (Playing too much of that GTA, playing too much of that Dr. Dre). While he still wants to understand his old friend, and what happened for him to change so abruptly and dangerously, he does not want anything to do with him anymore. It’s a song about a loss of innocence and the understanding that sometimes you just won’t understand why someone does something. It’s just a complete banger in general.
Which then takes us to Tokyo Drifting, which absolutely slaps. The song itself revolves around what he wanted to be like, singing from a new persona rather than his own (Cane Suga from HTBAHB was done through the same persona). It breaks the pattern of referencing to fruit, instead focusing on drugs and alcohol, dropping the sickly sweet lens of nostalgia for something more fitting of the song’s specific theme. Don’t worry, though, dragonfruit was used extremely heavily in this songs promotion as a single, so the fruit is still there, just not directly, and that lack of directly referring to a fruit in the song itself fits with the way that the song breaks from nostalgia of things that have happened and people he knew into something that was never real. There is no rose colored glasses needed for something that never even happened. I don’t have much else to say on it, it just goes hard, this was my most listened to song two years in a row lmao.
Melon and the Coconut is just sheer Glass Animals. It’s weird, it’s fun, and it sounds great. It cleanly splits the album in half, splitting the POV’s straight down the middle while making a reference to its own position in the album, “Sometimes B-sides are the best songs.” Needless to say, there are some super subtle references to fruit in Melon and the Coconut, the song about two fruit.
Then, the second half of the album kicks off with Your Love (Deja Vu), a song extremely similar in theme to previous songs about missed timing, like ZABA’s Pools and HTBAHB’s Pork Soda. Instead of fruit, “juice” is mentioned in this song. It takes the turn from thinking about people you were friends with, what you wanted to be like, to people that you were with, and things that just didn’t work out.
And then there’s Waterfalls Coming Out Your Mouth. It’s such a clean parallel to looking back on things with nostalgia and seeing them through the fake sweetness that time brings, with this song being about the rose colored glasses that were present in the moment, the time when you start getting to know someone but you aren’t actually getting to know them, you’re getting to know this other, more impressive version of them instead, and they get the exact same experience of you on their own end. He’s letting this other person have their own version of him while he has his own version of them in his head, and he knows their version of him is wrong, so he also knows whatever he thinks of them is going to be wrong, too. He knows them, but at the same time he doesn’t. He’s realizing here, that this person, like the Hot Sugar person, is too cool, and they aren’t real, it’s all just talk, and it’s all fake like the “chemical warfare, red lips and television eyewear, raspberry soda hair, in the pool with a blow up gummy bear.” It’s sweet, sure, but it’s also fake. “Chat shit but where’s the real you? Never seen The Price Is Right, I’m a liar been on that shit since ’99. You make me look like a clown, clap clap, you’re a clever clever cookie now” has no right go that hard, and yet it Does.
Then, abruptly, we get to It’s All So Incredibly Loud. The song itself is subdued, it’s that point in your trip through your own memories where you remember why things went wrong. You get shaken from your train of thought and lose your place in it, because you aren’t there anymore, you’re here and you can’t go back, you can’t fix anything, all that’s left for you to do now is mourn the wrongs and accept them, even though its painful. This is remembering what Dreamland meant by “That worst thing you said,” the realization that you have to break someone else’s heart, and how much that hurts.
((home movie: rockets)) is the longest home movie audio in the album, and creates a smooth transition back into childhood, journeying back through a sound similar to that of their first album, ZABA, on the way there for the album to transition into Domestic Bliss. This time, with someone else entirely’s perspective falling back onto knees, but this time under an entirely different tone, “Fight for me. We can leave I’m begging, please, on my on my knees.” These two songs back to back continue the downward spiral that too much nostalgia can leave you falling into, the wrongs, the regrets, this trip down memory lane has lasted too long, now.
Which drops us off at Heat Waves, which returns back to his own perspective after Domestic Bliss focused on a friend of his. It fits the bittersweet feeling in nostalgia, the understanding and acceptance that you can’t go back, you just have to keep going forward and separate instead for everyone’s sake, a followup less to the tangent in thought that is Domestic Bliss, and more to It’s All So Incredibly Loud. It also wraps up those previous album’s songs, Pools and Pork Soda in a way, bringing a sense of closure to the nostalgic feelings, as well as to the entire album.
And finally Helium, the bookend opposite to Dreamland. This song flawlessly embodies that feeling of when you realize you’ve just been sitting and staring at a photo album for an hour now, and you finally take a look around you, feeling the air conditioning on your skin, hearing the sounds of the world around you, snapping back out of your train of thought and into real life again. Things didn’t work the way that you used to think they would, but that’s a good thing. It is such a perfect ending to the nostalgic journey that is this entire album. Fading back into the melody that started this journey of sickly sweet memories of people you looked up to, when you learned for the first time that people can change and you might not ever understand why, ideas of who you once wanted to be, finding something light that you can laugh about, realizing how similar so many things in your life have been to each other, the realization that the people you used to look up to might not have actually been that impressive the whole time, your regrets, times you wish you could have done more, and the understanding that sometimes you shouldn’t have done so much.
I love this album so much man

yes i want to hear your thoughts!
Hongjoong’s was definitely both the hair and his performance during the medley. He looked so confident and magnetic. Also he was speaking very eloquently and you could tell he put a lot of thought into what he wanted to say every time he spoke. At one point the whole place started chanting “CAPTAIN” at him and I have never seen him smile so bright and I got to see it in PERSON. He said we were the loudest crowd he had had yet. I had a security guard next to me who was vibing the whole show, afterwards I asked him who his favorite was and he said Oreo guy.
Seonghwa???? My man’s came out with a SWORD and this is no joke I was mid scream the first time I saw him and I literally stopped dead and just stared. He quite literally took my breath away. I saw the undercut in person yall I can die happy. Not to mention he was feelin himself in take me home which is banger cuz that’s my favorite song. I could listen to him talk for hours. He was getting very involved durning the performances, coming up to the edge of the crowd and leading the light sticks and chanting with us. He was just very much in the element of ~performing- and he looked beautiful doing it.
Yunho was defo getting a lot of attention lol. Tbh I don’t remember much of him from the songs but he did the majority of the talking and was supper interactive with the fans. Every time he spoke everyone lost their minds and when we did the wave correctly he cheered for us the loudest. He also clowned San during wave lol. I don’t think he stopped smiling once lol. He did the Harry Potter “i have a secret, it’s that I’m a wizard” thing and literally pulled out glasses and a wand. I literally leaned over to my friend and said that if any one else in the world did that I would have hated it but just because it is Yunho I loved it.
Yeosang oh Yeosang. I don’t even know where to start. He was definitely the fan favorite every time his face should on screen during a song or otherwise people lost their absolute minds screaming at the top of their lungs pounding their feet on the floor stomping jumping swinging light sticks, just losing it. he looked so stunning not to mention how shy and excited he got listening to our cheers. On several occasions he took out his in ear monitors to listen to us cheer and it would go on for several minutes just people screaming for him. He called us his happiness.
San was just the sweetest. He was having a lot of fun running around and playing. He giggled every time we cheered for him. A couple of times during the show the crowd would stomp our feet while cheering to add to the volume and San LOVED that, he started joining in whenever we did. Yunho clowned him during wave by doing the hand thing and of course the entire crowd did it so and he gave us a cheeky “good job” it was sweet. Shook his ass in front of 10 thousand people. Like obviously he looked sexy during songs but you’ve probably already seen those shots from other concerts.
Mingi was another fan favorite, people just loved him. I think he was pretty shy not being able to speak English as well as some other members as he was one of the only ones using the translator to talk but the crowd did not care every time he finished the and translator Told us what he said the amount of screams and awes and ooos was insane. People really wanted him to know we understood him and I think that made him happy. The best part was when he said “atiny saranghae!” We didn’t have to hear the translation the crowd immediately started cheering back.
For Wooyoung this is kinda sad but I at least didn’t see very much of him. I was right behind the floor so I got a good view of both the stage and the screens but I was to far away to always tell where they all were on stage so I was watching my the screens for a lot of it and they just didn’t show him that much. I normally don’t talk about stuff like this on her but he doesn’t get very many lines so we didn’t see him much while performing and he didn’t talk very much during the speaking parts and I think that once again it might be because he had to use the translator. Obviously he had some fun moments interacting with the members on stage and obviously the crowd screamed hard for him when we did see him but other than that nothing comes to mind.
Jongho was the other only member to rely on the translator but I think even with that he was having a good time. Obviously vocal legend could never be out done. The crowd losing their minds at every high note and at one point yunho poked his smiley dimples and I think I physically combusted. He rapped one of Mingi’s raps for us which then turned into a jongho Seonghwa San mini rap battle. I loved his last outfit which I know you don’t know what it is but it was basically this colorful shirt sleeve button down and he just looked very jongho if you know what I mean.

Favs of 2020 (Girls edition)
A/N: This is just personal opinion, everyone has the right to disagree. Also all title tracks are linked
Guys version
TOP 10 OF 2020:
1. It’z Me - Itzy (Wannabe)
All I can say is you’re lying if you don’t think this is song of the year. Everyone and their momma and their momma’s momma did the shoulder move because it’s iconic. ‘Wannabe’ was the first Itzy song I instantly fell in love with and well. I still listen to it daily. It makes me feel good and I have adopted Itzy this year. ‘That’s a no no’ is my favorite b-side on the album.
2. Not Shy - Itzy (Not shy)
It’s rare that a group will be on these lists twice in a row but what can I say, 2020 is the year of Itzy. I absolutely hated this song at first, but now it’s in my head everyday all day. I love the dance, the song and the music video soooooo much. Itzy really just did that this year. My favorite b-side off the album is ‘iD’ or ‘Surf’.
3. New Rules - Weki Meki (Cool)
Weki Meki haven’t made a song I don’t enjoy yet. However this song really influenced me to stan fully. ‘Cool’ makes me want to walk down a runway and then kick someone’s ass too. Not to mention Lua??? The whole entire album is really good and on my list to buy soon. ‘D-day’ is my favorite b-side.
4. Look - Apink (Dumhdurum)
I absolutely love that Apink matured but still kept true to their style. Not switching into a different concept like girl crush. I just love the elegance. I listen to this song everytime I walk my dog... so everyday. It gives me that retro vibe but it’s not in your face about it. “Be Myself” is my favorite b-side off of the album.
5. The album - Blackpink (Lovesick girls) (How you like that) (Ice cream)
You either love or hate Blackpink and well I love them. This album was long overdue and that might be why I love it so much, but that doesn’t matter. I still love it. I think the girls really outdid themselves with ‘Lovesick girls’ it’s quite possibly their best title track and I adore it. I like ‘How you like that’ but was unsure when it first came out, solid pre-release single nothing more. ‘Ice cream feat. Selena Gomez’ is my favorite of the 2 pre-release singles. It’s so fresh and nice to see Blackpink do something kind of different with it. My favorite b-side off the album is ‘Love to Hate me’.
6. Alien - Suhyun (Alien)
When I heard Suhyun was having a solo, I thought it was going to be a ballad. Something very vocal orientated but I was so happily surprised. ‘Alien’ is a colorful, different side to her that I haven’t seen before and it was so well done. She looked so pretty in the mv, the dance is fun and makes me happy, her vocals are amazing and the styling is great. Suhyun, you did good. This solo was a well deserved one.
7. Stay Tonight - Chungha (Stay Tonight)
No matter how hard I try I cannot do helicopter hands and Chungha is rubbing it in my face. However, ‘Stay Tonight’ it gives me runway, high fashion, clubbing in Paris. It’s everything I love in a song. The choreography is stunning, Chungha is stunning, the styling stunning. This song is a cultural reset.
8. -77.82x-78.29 - Everglow (La Di Da)
I want Everglow to be superheroes or super villains in a drama or something. We know they can pull it off!!!!! Aisha, the goddess can step on me. The song is absolutely amazing, the girls are absolutely gorgeous. Not to mention the choreo??? Absolutely insane. Favorite b-side off the album is ‘No good reason’.
9. Dystopia:Lose myself - Dreamcatcher (Boca)
One of the prettiest mv’s ever. No but the winner for me in Boca is the mixing of sounds, the rock with that instrumental in the beginning??? The way Dami comes in is the cooles entrance ever. I can’t not sing along when I hear it. Not to mention the lyrics. Dreamcatcher isn’t scared to call out people’s bullshit. My favorite b-side off the album is ‘Break the wall’.
10. Bloom*iz - Iz*one (Fiesta)
This song is indeed a party. Iz*one only really have Korean bangers, not too mention their styling is some of my favorite girl group styling this year. ‘Fiesta’ makes me want to get up dance and have a good time. THis is also the first album of theirs that I enjoyed inside and out. ‘Pink Blusher’ and ‘Spaceship’ are my favorites.
Favorite Girlgroup debut:
Secret Number
Secret Number just had whipped from the first listen “Who Dis” is just such a good song and not to mention their vocals, visuals and dancing. I’m also completely whipped for Dita the first ever Indonesian idol (I think). Their first comeback “Got that boom” is also such a party and worth checking out.
Favorite Solo Debut:
Lee Suhyun
As I said before, this song made it into my top 10 and well she deserves it. Suhyun deserves it all. I love ‘Alien’ I love it soooooo much. From Styling to vibes. She also just looked so happy the whole time performing. It’s just so nice seeing her so happy.
A/N: Keep in mind these are just my favorites, your favorites may differ as they should! Let me know what your top faves are this year!

RATE THE EPISODE 89 Responses
This episode was heavy, but overall got good reception by anime viewers with 83.1% overall giving it a score of 4 or 5.
Great!
Brilliant.
I give it a 4/5. Had to subtract once since Garbage Braun killed Sasha.
Its bangin
ASIDE FROM SASHA’S DEATH, WHICH MOMENT WAS THE MOST EMOTIONAL FOR YOU? 91 Responses
Connie, Jean and Sasha appeared to take the spotlight this week, with 50.5% of respondents saying that Connie’s heartfelt admission to the other two were the biggest emotional highlight (aside from Sasha’s death itself). Following at a distant second, third and fourth were Eren’s breakdown, EMA’s tense reunion and Gabi’s painful pleads to Falco, in that order.
WHICH MOMENT SURPRISED YOU THE MOST? 90 Responses
It almost came down to a tie, but the most surprising revelation in this episode appears to be Zeke’s betrayal of Marley, learning that he was working with the Survey Corps. The second most surprising moment was learning that Eren had gone rogue from the Survey Corps. Others were also shocked to see how the Survey Corps treated Eren, as well as learning that there were undercover operatives sent to Paradis on the Marleyan fleet 3 years ago.
I did not expect any of the events that happened
Eren going to Marley on his own? Zeke being a double agent?? New characters unrelated to the Paradisians?? Welp looks like I'm back to not knowing what the fuck is going on. Phenomenal episode tho, thanks MAPPA for the food<3
HOW MUCH DID SASHA’S DEATH HURT YOU? 91 Responses
We asked on a scale of 1-5 how much Sasha’s death hurt, and the vast majority of fans were heartbroken to lose our potato girl. Only about 5 respondents total weren’t as affected.
RIP potato girl 🥺😭
I was spoiled for Sasha's death and therefore thought I wouldn't be too affected when actually watching it. Boy was I wrong :(
WHOSE REACTION TO SASHA’S DEATH AFFECTED YOU THE MOST? 93 Responses
Mikasa and Connie were the two characters whose reaction to Sasha’s death had the heaviest impact on viewers. This is followed up more distantly by Eren and Armin’s reactions. Only a small amount of viewers were more deeply affected by Jean, Levi and Hange’s reactions.
Eren’s breakdown is sus
WOULD YOU PISS YOUR PANTS IF LEVI WAS GLARING AT YOU WITH MURDEROUS INTENT? 90 Responses
On a less serious note, we asked how you’d react to Levi staring at you with murderous intent. In general, most people say that they would indeed most likely be terrified, either citing that he can be a scary guy, or that there’s simply no shame in being scared of an Ackerman. A handful say they wouldn’t feel threatened by Levi at all.
A FULL VERSION OF “ASHES ON THE FIRE” BY KOHTA YAMAMOTO (THE PREVIEW SONG) IS NOW OUT. IF YOU’VE LISTENED TO IT, WHAT DO YOU THINK? 83 Responses
For those who are enjoying the OST, it seems that the full version of “Ashes on the Fire” is quite a banger, with the vast majority rating it a 4 or 5.
WERE YOU EXPECTING ZEKE TO BETRAY MARLEY? 90 Responses
One of the big revelations in this episode is that Zeke has betrayed Marley. 44.4% of respondents felt that Zeke wasn’t everything that he seems but didn’t want to make a call either way. 27.8% of watchers didn’t see this coming at all and were genuinely surprised. At a tie, 11.1% was absolutely certain that Zeke was going behind Marley’s back, and another 11.1% had already been spoiled.
Kinda, since they were bros and Zeke was a child manipulated by propagandist, i kinda guessed. I was surprised nonetheless
No, but I shouldn't have been surprised given his dual lineage and above-average intellect. Dude's probably playing 5D chess with all parties
I had read some of the Manga and forgot so was surprised
Yes! He's been sus all season tbh
DAAAAFFUQ?
I figured out that ZEKE is helping us. By those baseball gloves and many other small hints . Death of sasha was sad but i was expecting something like this to come .
JEAN BLAMES EREN FOR SASHA GETTING KILLED. DO YOU? 88 Responses
The majority of respondents don’t feel that Eren is entirely to blame for Sasha’s death, with 40.9% feeling that multiple decisions caused this event to happen and 34.1% placing the blame solely on Gabi for being the one to shoot. 12.5% do, however, feel that Eren is to blame due to dragging the Survey Corps into this conflict. 9.1% feel that the premature celebration is what’s really at fault.
The writer iysama
I mean they were gonna get murked by Marley anyway so... if anything it's kind of Jean's fault for not holding the rear with Lobov. IDK that might be controversial.
sasha chose!
WE NOW KNOW FOR SURE THAT EREN WAS NOT IN MARLEY WITH THE SURVEY CORPS’ BLESSING. DO YOU FEEL THAT THEY ARE BEING TOO HARSH ON HIM? 90 Responses
Overall, people have mixed feelings on whether Eren deserved the scorn of his comrades or not, though the majority either feel neutral about the situation or that the Survey Corps should take a moment to listen to Eren’s reasons for doing what he did. The rest feel that they should have done more to reprimand him for his behavior.
The Survey Corps can take more responsibility for their actions - they don't have to go along with Eren's plans. Paradis has been terrorized and attacked for generations, and Eldians have been persecuted. Their retaliation isn't the same as Marleyians attacks. Also I keep wondering what will happen if Eren gets all the Titans himself and if that's his goal.
WHAT BEST DESCRIBES YOUR FEELINGS ABOUT EREN’S ACTIONS? 90 Responses
At 53.3%, the majority feel that Eren simply did what needed to be done, while another 33.3% aren’t sure how to feel about Eren’s actions. A small handful of people feel that what he didn’t wasn’t excusable no matter the reason.
I'm here for war crimes and war crimes only, however eren deserves a slow and painful death
I think I don't know the whole story yet.
Hard to say without further flashbacks
i think i understand him a little, he was surrounded by death since he was a kid, so it's logical that he would snap sometime
I don't think I have enough information to fully pass judgment yet
He's totally in line with his character. After that announcement that the whole world is going to invade and slaughter Paradis, it makes sense for Eren to go on the offensive. Doesn't make sense to fight a war when only one side honors civilian life.
He did the right thighs! They deserved it!
Just stupid. Everyone thought he was so grown this season but just proves that he's still just a self-motivated little child. He is kinda sick tho??
WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF ZEKE COLLUDING WITH THE SURVEY CORPS? 90 Responses
The vast majority feel that Zeke isn’t a trustworthy ally of the Survey Corps, with 62.2% believing that he has ulterior motives for teaming up with them, while 17.8% believe that his motivations for helping the Survey Corps only involve actions he plans to take toward “saving Eren.” 8.9% believe that Zeke’s truly motivated to help the Paradisians.
I think I don't know the whole story yet.
I don’t trust him!!! >:(
No idea!!!
Idk!!!!
I want to believe that he's doing this for Eldia but I do feel a double crossing coming on.
NOW THAT EREN AND ZEKE HAVE THE ABILITY TO ACTIVATE THE COORDINATE, DO YOU THINK THEY SHARE THE SAME GOAL? 90 Responses
The overwhelming majority of respondents are either unsure about whether Zeke and Eren have the same goal, or that they most definitely don’t have the same goal.
FLOCH MENTIONS THE “NEW ELDIAN EMPIRE,” WHICH JEAN, SASHA AND CONNIE DON’T SEEM TO HAVE A POSITIVE RESPONSE TO. WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS MEANS? 90 Responses
Floch raised some potential flags about the ideological state of the people on Paradis. When asked what people make of his words and JSC’s reaction to them, 46.7% believe that there is a growing ideological divide on Paradis. 22.2% think that Eren is trying to reestablish the Eldian Empire, as Grisha once did, and that Floch and the others are following him. 13.3% aren’t sure what to make of it yet, while 10% feel that Floch and the others are simple outliers and 7.8% feel that this just shows Paradis is trying to establish itself as their own nation.
NO WARM SMILES WERE SHARED IN EREN AND ARMIN’S REUNION. WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE STATUS OF THEIR FRIENDSHIP? 91 Responses
Eren and Armin’s reunion on the airship parallels their previous reunion after the conflict in the Reiss cave. But unlike back then, they didn’t share any smiles. 41.8% aren’t really sure what to make of this or how it overall affects their relationship with each other. 25.3% believe it’s a simple rough patch and that they will come out on the other side of things with the same closeness they’ve always had. 17.6% feel certain that their friendship is over from here on out, and contrasting this, only a handful believe that they are just fine.
Armin is pissed at eren for commiting war crimes and forcing him to do the same, however they are still care for each other
I think armin is just mad at eren for him leaving them and forcing them to retrieve him
I feel like there’s just a seriousness looming over a childhood connection. It’s sadness, but trust. Like “we’ve done some fucked up shit m8” I mean admin just killed a fuck ton of people haha
Idk but it's not looking good
Tense, maybe Eren's decision to go to Marley caused a rift between them.
Feels like this is over something that happened BEFORE the Liberio attack that we're just not aware of yet
LEVI COMPARED EREN TO THE “ROTTEN SHITS” WHO LIVED IN THE UNDERGROUND. WHAT DO YOU THINK HE MEANT? 90 Responses
When it comes to the meaning behind Levi telling Eren he’s like “rotten shits” from the underground, 41.1% believe that Levi means Eren is lifeless, shady and filthy. 27.8% felt that Levi was merely referring to Eren becoming underhanded and shady, and another 25.6% felt that he meant to say Eren seems lifeless or hopeless.
Eren's become apathetic bull eyes no emotion just pushing forward to the next
Eren is a hobo
Eren will kill anyone to get what he wants.
Selfish, looking out for number 1. Careless of other human beings.
GABI LAMENTED THE DESTRUCTION OF HER HOMETOWN, THE DEATHS OF HER LOVED ONES, AND HER SHATTERED DREAMS OF PROVING HER PEOPLE AREN’T DEVILS. DID YOU EMPATHIZE WITH HER? 89 Responses
Gabi spends some time talking with Falco in tears about how this attack has crushed everything she loves and has worked for. When asked if watchers empathized with her pain, only 34.8% say that they can understand her feelings, with 15.7% having felt empathy for her only until she decided to board the airship. 43.8% didn’t empathize with her in any capacity at any time.
Girl has no critical thinking whatsoever, hopefully her future time in the island will make her change a bit
I empathized with her, but didn’t agree with any of her actions
I emphasize and understand her reasons for everything but Im still angry.
I empathize with her completely, but I am still sad she was so far gone in her anger that she killed Sasha. She’s similar to Eren’s character at the start of the show.
I sympathize with her trauma but not her actions/reactions
GABI AND FALCO ARE NOW STRANDED ON THE BLIMP ON A ONE-WAY TRIP TO PARADIS. DO YOU THINK MORE EXPOSURE TO THE PARADISIANS WILL BE ABLE TO SWAY GABI’S VIEWS? 87 Responses
With Gabi and Falco stuck on the airship to Paradis, we asked if you believe that Gabi’s views specifically could be changed over time. More than half (52.9%) feel that her beliefs about the people of Paradis will change by the story’s end. 18.4% do not believe she has the capacity to change, and 28.7% have already been spoiled.
I put 'no' for Gabi changing, but even if she does, I will always hate her and want her to die
PIECK FIGURES OUT THAT THE SOLDIER WHO LED HER AND PORCO ASTRAY IS A WOMAN NAMED YELENA. DID YOU EXPECT THIS SOLDIER TO BE UNRELATED TO THE MAIN CAST FROM PARADIS? 90 Responses
Viewers’ responses on what they expected of Yelena are fairly evenly mixed. 27.8% were certain that she was someone we already knew in disguise, 26.7% felt uncertain about whether she was familiar or not, but was more sure she was someone new. 22.2% felt uncertain as well, but leaned toward feeling it was someone that we did already know. A small handful were already spoiled, and the rest were certain she was someone from the main cast.
WILL LEVI CONTINUE TO COOPERATE WITH ZEKE? 90 Responses
Another pie chart with a somewhat equal mix. 38.9% are certain that Levi’s cooperation with Zeke will ultimately be short lived and that he will let his feelings get the better of him. 33.3% don’t want to say for sure either way. 22.2% are certain that Levi will restrain himself from doing anything rash.
HANGE STATES THAT THE SURVEY CORPS HAS LOST ALL TRUST IN EREN. BUT WHAT ABOUT YOU? 90 Responses
43.3% of respondents still have faith in Eren and his intentions, while 34.4% aren’t really sure whether or not they should. 15.6% agree with Hange, that Eren is no longer worthy of their trust. A small number of people have already been spoiled by future happenings.
WHAT ARE YOUR FEELINGS ON THE CHARACTERS AFTER SEEING THE EVENTS OF THIS ARC UNFOLD?
Overall, the original characters from the Survey Corps continue to have the highest favorability ratings, with Eren having the most mixed reviews (though still generally well-liked by the majority). Sasha, Levi, Mikasa and Armin had the highest favorability out of the original cast.
Floch, as well as the Marleyan characters, have much more mixed reviews. Of these characters, the most disliked ones appear to be Gabi, Floch, Porco and Magath, in that order. Reiner and Falco appear to be more favorable than not among fans. The remaining characters overall have neutral opinions on them, with Zeke skewing slightly more negative and Pieck and Colt skewing slightly more positive.
I don't "strongly dislike" Gabi Braun. I fucking HATE her.
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS ON THE EPISODE?
I hate to rate it a 1 since the quality is superb as usual, but there was absolutely no good reason to kill off Sasha, especially if it's for the sake of replacing her with some Nazi brat
After a blast that the previous episode was, this pales in comparison. I don't really like Sasha that much but just when she's showing growth, that's when she dies. But then again, character death has become a norm in this series.
They could have easily used Falco to show an empathetic kid from the "other side", not some ripoff Eren with a vagina
I was more moved by a child's grief (Gabi) than the death of an adult whose personality was only "potato, meat, I'm hungry lol". I don't know why that ruckus and all these extravagant shows of sadness. And also all that hate toward a litteral kid. She saw Sasha killing in front of her eyes people who tried to protect her and we saw a glimpse in Sasha's eyes she thought to do the same for Gabi. I'm a bit sad about losing a familiar face. But don't expect tears for her from me.
Still think Marley is the real enemy and the corps and warriors need to combine.
Fight scenes were amazing wish it went on a it more with some interesting revaluations that I'm curious to see where itt goes
The score was phenomenal - ESPECIALLY in sasha’s death scene.
This episode made me extremely irrational initially. But the more time I had to think, the more I realized I don’t have all the info to make judgements on all the characters (Eren’s actions behind the Scouts’ back, Zeke’s betrayal etc.). Still dislike Gabi because of her personality but I can understand her reasonings for her actions especially as a brainwashed kid (not to outright justify her actions though).
Has not sunk in that Sasha is dead, very melancholy. Such an entertaining watch though! I absolutely adored the interactions between characters, especially EMA. I'm so excited to hopefully see some flashbacks of the Survey Corps next episode.
Depressing and gives an uneasy feel, especially with the new eldian empire thingy

blue side *special post*

song: blue side - full version, by j-hope
first experience: would we consider the release of blue side, the full version the first experience, or listening to the version from hope world? either way, with hope world, i know i was listening after returning back to DC from ATL following spring break of my first year in my phd program. i was feeling all kinds of heavy, and turning on hopeworld i felt both uplifted and seen at the same time. for an album to carry a track like blue side, along with piece of peace, and then bangers like hangsang and daydream was a lot for me to process but the album instantly became something i listened to all the time. that year was really hard for me - i’d moved away from home, i wasn’t fitting in, i was questioning my abilities, my intelligence, i was so insanely depressed. it was eating away at me, and hope world dropped, making me feel more peace than i’d felt since i had moved. i am still so thankful for that.
feelings: i have so many. obviously, that’s why i had to make a blog for these things. there’s no way i could talk this out with anyone in a normal conversation. also i’d forget everything in my head. hoseok is my comfort idol. i feel very close to him emotionally. maybe it’s because he left gwangju for the big city, he fought like hell and made his way. meanwhile i left a small town and fought like hell, and am trying to make my way. he’s my role model as much as he is my comfort. blue side though, there’s something about it that hits. the lyrics, the sound, it all is about a desire for what existed before - before complicating things with my dreams. leaving the comfort of the familiar, the easy, the known, and making my way in the unknown to chase what i think “home” is supposed to be. sure, things are easier on the *blue side* but without running away from it, would i really burn as bright as a blue flame? give off the warmth that the strongest flame (blue) does? it’s like a double meaning, blue is the innocence and simplicity of the known and the easy, perhaps youth, perhaps home... but also blue is the hottest flame, even if it comes just before a fire dies and burns out, it is still the most significant - the hottest, it’s worth the chase to have this high.
like hoseok - i feel lonely - this song also deals with the loneliness of walking away from the known, the home. and i relate with it. but the color and the vibrancy of what’s knew, it’s not always so terrible. it’s funny, as i listen to blue side, i think of wildflowers by dolly parton. a song about how we all carry a nostalgia for whatever home is, whatever was simple and easy before we lost our innocence and moved on to adulthood... but the reality is, no matter how bad we want to go back - home doesn’t exist anymore in the way that we remember it. we’ve warped the idea of home and this earlier perfection in our heads. we’ve burned it. as we became strong blue flames, the past was also burnt up and changed. that’s how i feel when i visit home, it’s not what i romanticize when i’m away. and no matter what i always feel dejected, foreign, and alone. but even so, i’m burning bright. i’m *back to blue side* but not in the way of going back to a prior easiness and innocence, instead in the way of being bright and warm, offering others something new and improved.
personal experience: since the full song just released and i’ve already played in hundreds of times, perhaps i’ll talk about the present and how i will certainly remember this release in the context of where i am now in my life. it’s now been a whole year of the COVID-19 pandemic, a year where i’d really hoped to *find* myself after two years of my phd program continuing to make me feel lost and completely inadequate. the crippling depression, anxiety, and doubt that i carried since moving the DC is still with me, but before COVID-19 hit i had finally - in many ways - made peace with my life. i’d found some energy for my studies and future. things had been looking up. but since the pandemic, i’ve felt much of those feelings creep back in. slowly but surely my demons returned.
when i turned on blue side for the first time, the same emotions ran through me... a longing for simplicity, a longing for a time when my mind and heart weren’t constantly running, a time when i hadn’t complicated the future i wanted for myself. a longing not to be alone. immediately when i listened to the song i saw my painting of jo march’s monologue in the 2019 adaptation: “women have minds and souls as well as hearts, ambition and talent as well as beauty and i’m sick of being told that love is all a woman is fit for. but... i am so lonely.” while this has absolutely nothing to do with blue side - my mind went there. how life would be simple if i’d abided by the simple life that was destined for me growing up in a small town. i’d have fallen in love, taken a job without much thought, everything would have been easy, i’d never be lonely and the questions and complications of my dreams would be far away (or would they? this version of home is likely fabricated --- see above). as the quote says, she wants to have everything, but in pursuing her dreams she found tremendous loneliness. the blue side, that period of innocence though, perhaps it has it’s own demons as well. there’s the lonliness, the pressure, and the challenges of burning for your dreams as well though - and that’s where i am, that’s also what hoseok is speaking too. i’m not sure right now what exactly i’m longing for. perhaps it’s not the past, perhaps it’s a complete reimagining of my future as the uncertainty of the pandemic continues to play out... either way, there’s a blue side in my mind i *do* long for, a side of innocence and peace - where i can be content with myself and what i’m doing with my time, my thoughts, my energy. i truly hope i can go back to *that* blue side.
although i’m not sure when that will be, listening to blue side makes me feel that i’m not alone. others relate to this song, it’s message, and obviously it came from hoseok’s very heart. we aren’t alone. those of us that leave all that we knew, leave our innocence and homes in the past - we can forge ahead and become bright and give off warmth to others. hopefully we can sustain the blue fine inside ourselves - much like hoseok. or hopefully there’s a blue side in our minds we can visit when we need respite.
song breakdown
musically: blue side isn’t the type of track one would have ever anticipated from hoseok unless they’ve really listened to a lot of his interviews and content - where he shows his several dimensions and facets of his personality. hoseok is deeply emotional (not just a sunshine all the time) and his mind has a haunting edge of seriousness, loneliness, and longing to it. the tone of the song, the beat, it’s very soft. not sad, but relaxing, almost bringing in this numb feeling to it. there’s a lo-fi sound to it. as soon as it comes on the listener should feel a sense of calm. you cannot listen to blue side without just feeling mellow. it’s healing despite the darker lyrical content.
vocally: jung honey vocals hoseok. a combination of singing and smooth rap dominate blue side. ARMY may be unfamiliar with hoseok’s gorgeous singing voice, but they won’t be now. hoseok displays his emotion up front in his whisper singing. it’s almost like he’s telling himself like “just calm down now, it’s okay to retreat to a place where you feel safe.” his rapping voice takes on the same calm demeanor, delivering almost a lullaby to the listener - perhaps hoseok knew that the message of blue side would be one that all of us could resonate deeply with and wanted to ensure that when we listened to it, it was like having a conversation with a friend about feeling nostalgic and yearning for a version of yourself that doesn’t exist anymore.
lyrically: while we don’t know everything hoseok has gone through, we don’t know what exactly inspired blue side, we were lucky enough to receive a note with the extended version of blue side. hoseok states that when looks back at when he was writing hope world he feels he was a very innocent boy. he was coloring in the man he is today, and he stated that sometimes he truly misses who he was in the past, his innocence and the simplicity of that time. perhaps he’s speaking to the early days of BTS, or even before BTS, or perhaps just before he knew some of the hardships that come along with growing old (which growing old is something he also mentions in the note). hoseok also specifically references a growing homesickness that he’s felt as time has passed. a homesickness for who he used to be. before things picked up and pressure started.
in the first verse of blue side we are confronted with just this narrative. hoseok states “everything changed between us, i shout alone” - he feels like he’s left who he was completely and now he’s alone, that younger version of his isn’t something he carries with him anymore. it’s something though that he’d like the return to. that “time when i didn’t know anything” a time of innocence and ignorance. a time without problems and stressors. unlike today.
the chorus is very simple - in haunting and beautiful j-hope fashion - hoseok chants “back to blue side” and it’s almost like this is a return to simplicity. in simply saying what he wants and not complicating it, the juxtaposition with the choruses is quite profound.
the next verse is more tricky, it’s like a daydream (something that hoseok seems to do often - he’s got a whole song about it). it’s almost like hoseok feels like he can transport himself to that previous state he rides “the wind in the sky to that place in this moment, blue” and he states that it’s “now comforting my heart, blue” then the meaning of blue seems to change as we move into the following verse... hoseok is clearly speaking of making music when he says he “spits out my pains in the dark” he’s sharing his pain, all that he’s carrying with him. he “wanted to walk the blue road, on the rainbow” at this point it seems like the blue side is almost shifting to be his dreams (perhaps the blue side is something he’s nostalgic about but also he’s nostalgic for the version of his dreams that he imagined back when he was innocent and conceived of fame differently than the reality). he’s “singing my blues, singing my bloom, back in my room” alluding to pain that he carries now and the pain that he carried then - while different - it was present in both... but he’d prefer the pain of the past because “i was blue with light breaths” he had some reprieve, whereas now he doesn’t feel like he has the same.
the closure of the third verse is probably the most contentious lyric in the song. “but now i just want to burn blue and die.” likely because this is a dark lyric for someone with the public image that “j-hope” has. specifically i use j-hope here, as hoseok has been very candid in explaining that who he is on stage and in public isn’t entirely him and isn’t his whole being. while he is j-hope, j-hope is not completely him. part of me wants to go for the easy pickings and say that hoseok wishes sometimes that he could almost kill this persona, and return to simpler times when he got to be hoseok. or perhaps this is his way of saying he wants to share more of hoseok with us, rather than this polished image he’s created which is exhausting and feels alien next to the boy he was during the *blue side* of his life. but i don’t think this is all. i think it’s also got something to do with burning blue, hitting his peak, getting to the point he wants to get to and riding it to wherever it takes him next - to whatever his identity will change to, killing/burning the past and bringing about a new blue side. i think this line is also alluding to the desire to having time to just open up his entire being a truly feel all of the pain and emotions that he’s had over time as he had to grow up quickly and focus hard on his dreams.
finally - we get to the bridge. this is hoseok’s comforting message for all of us listening. hoseok’s dream has always been to provide others healing and comfort through his music, being able to do that is extremely important for him. the bridge brings that forward. i almost feel like this bridge is him acknowledging that that boy from the blue side still exists. the lines almost allude to us being with him in his “blue dream” he’s taken us there to “carry” and “hug” us. perhaps he’s felt further away from this dream as fame has taken over, and now he wants to reassure his fans and those that appreciate his art that he hasn’t lost his innocence or heart completely - he will carry us to that place of nostalgia, innocence and purity to offer us comfort as well. “you might say i cannot, but i’ll put you in my arms” he will defy those who discredit his depth and realness and take us into his mind and bring us the comfort he wanted to supply us.
BUT i also think this message is for himself. he will find away to carry who he is today back to his blue side, back to his period of innocence and purity. he hasn’t turned his back on who he was, he longs for that person more than ever and he’s determined to continue to carry who he is and who he was at the same time. while that’s not exactly the same as being in the blue side - it’s like being in a “blue dream” which can be enough to suffice for some time.
tl;dr: blue side is a masterpiece. it’s a highlight for hoseok’s career. the depth of emotion conveyed in this piece is insane. hoseok offers up a level of vulnerability not often found in the music industry. he serves it packaged in a unique sounding song that offers the listener nothing but comfort and nostalgia (especially given that it is a reboot of an album that many of us hold dearly to our hearts). what’s even more beautiful about it is that likely many of us have our own blue side from when hope world was released, and perhaps we too are longing for the innocence and purity of that time... this song offers us solace in that we aren’t alone in this feeling.
