- The ways Hunter still is hesitant to do anything but run and hide, and Rex still can’t give up. Not quite yet.

- How Hunter won’t be able to either until they know what is really going on with Omega.

Hello! Was curious to know what was your initial reaction when the infamous live happened?? So like i've only really started following wbb this year and Azzi became my fave almost immediately which then inevitably led me down the Paige and Azzi best friends rabbit hole and was like ohh they'd be kinda cute together but thought I was just being delulu. And then not that long after, I hear about something happening on a live. Took me forever to actually find what others were referring to cos ppl did a pretty damn good job of erasing (almost) all traces of it haha. Then when I finally did see it, I was like oh. OH. Tbh it was Ice's reaction that made it so 🤨 rather than Paige and Azzi themselves 😂 Like I know it probably wasn't too surprising for those of us who were shipping them already cos as we've established, there have been a lot of other 🤨 moments prior to then but I still remember being so excited that wait so they are actually/potentially a thing?!?! 😮

It's so annoying to me when I come across people who say that tkkers base their belief in taekook on edits and videos that overanalyze. Not saying that there aren't shippers like this but I know this is not the case for alot of tkkers I know and certainly not for me. I had no interest in shipping and theorising on band mates being in a secret relationship when I got into BTS. I just really loved their music and their story.

I noticed taekook while catching up on lives and binging BTS content trying to get to know the members more. I wasn't trying to ship any members, but I was picking up on things with taekook that made me side eye them ngl. The odd tension in lives, the hot and cold behaviour, being overly touchy and familiar with eachothers bodies and personal space while also sometimes acting like they don't know eachother. I tried to brush it off but the vibe they were giving off was like when you start noticing tension between two people in a friend group but nobody talks about it and it becomes the big elephant in the room, only to find out later they were secretly hooking up lol.

After awhile I felt like I had gotten a good grasp on all the friendships and dynamics within the group and yet taekook remained a big question mark to me and fandom discourse certainly didn't help at all. It's only then that I fell into the rabbit hole out of curiousity and most of what I learnt has solidified my suspicions about them. You really don't need analysis videos or shipping edits to notice them because the vibe they give off and the things they do, the way BigHit handled them, these things are enough to make you question. Remember when locals at 2020 Grammy's were asking if they were a couple? Yep, taekook give off boyfriend vibes and we all know it, even the naysayers know it deep down.😂

It doesn't annoy me when other people say that about Taekookers, because I know for a fact that's not what I base my belief on and I think a significant portion of people who say that are trying to convince themselves there's nothing between TK, we just really want there to be. A lot seem to believe that if they get rid of us Taekook's relationship will stop existing, whatever the nature of that relationship is. Personally I hate analysis videos. Like I said previously, when I first starting looking at Taekook those kinds of videos weren't very popular yet. The two big YouTube accounts I followed just posted compilation videos of moments with no analysis. That's all I need. There are so many moments that speak for themselves. I'll be screaming about the nape kiss until the end of time. I'm sorry but there's no way you're going to convince me there's anything platonic about that. Two recent moments I think about a lot are the Sweetheart shirts and Tae's live where we found out Jungkook always sings "To Find You" to him. Those are very loud and obvious imho. I don't need to analyze them. I've also in my own life accurately called these same "vibes" between plenty of people who ended up together. The tells aren't any different for same-sex couples, but some people will readily read romantic/sexual interest into every interaction between a man and a woman but dismiss way more sus moments between two men. I think there would be no question about Taekook for a lot of people if they were a het pair. I do remember the buzz around them at the Grammys. I was just recently thinking about reactions I saw on Twitter to the live where Tae played "Oh No Oh Yes" (where he intentionally "twin flamed" with Jungkook as an anon recently pointed out). That had some people questioning things. I remember seeing people talking back and forth in a thread about the lyrics and how they usually drag Taekookers but maybe we're onto something. 😂 I still think that some people who call us delusional just don't follow what happens between Taekook, because they were more suspicious than ever during solo era. Honestly this was born from both impatience and sadness for mortality because Faramir is gonna die, he's not going anywhere off Middle Earth, and there's a lot of time between the current chapters and when Shisui gets to meet him. Legolas however is kicking at this time, working on removing the stick from his ass courtesy of his father, and I loved the idea of them finding themselves through knowing each other. Also it's funny to imagine Aragorn trying to live undercover as a random soldier/Ranger BUT TRAILING BEHIND HIM ARE THE ELVEN PRINCE AND A SUSPICIOUSLY HARAD-LOOKING WIZARD 😂 Aragorn what have you got there? The Bros Are My Hoes Ship: Shisui x Boromir

I have a previous Istari!Shisui fic with this pairing and, well, I never could leave anything alone. I love the idea of these two being sensitive but also slightly meathead-ish. The closest the Fellowship can get to having two all-star sportsmen eyefucking in the locker room. Hold my hand on the battlefield, my brother in arms. Handle my sword, as if it were your own. I'll be your shield, your armour. You look stunning in the dawn of victory; come, place your forehead to mine and we shall draw breath together. This idea will never leave me alone.

Protective Husbandry Ship: Shisui x Samwise

I don't need to preach to the choir about this glorious mix of protective instincts, plant care and good food. It really does speak for itself. Also I love the imagery of Shisui, who alternates wildly between deadly gorgeous and sunshine gorgeous depending on if you can see his dimples, and Sam, who is no doubt the Shire's Hottest Bachelor with a head of sunny curls and a kitchen/garden to drool over. A summer wedding under the Party Tree, please and thank you.

Majestic Heart attack Ship: Shisui x Aragorn

I'm sorry but the inherent homoeroticism of a knight genuflecting to his chosen king. Like. A KING AND HIS WIZARD?! also Aragorn is the fav poetry, brooding, sweetheart and you're telling me you can't imagine Shisui sliding him a tender smile, sitting down beside him at the campfire and twisting their fingers together. The promise of what little happiness they can find now, knowing that 'later' could mean Aragorn sworn to a crown, with the ensuing duties, and Shisui, like a distant star, sailing away with the other Istari. Um. My eyes are glinting with unshed tears in the moonlight. Neither would ever leave the other but fate might not be so kind. Also Shisui wounded at some point and whisked away to be cared for by Gandalf and Radagast and then he gets to make his Arwen-Coronation entrance and declare that he will NOT sail 😭❤️

Sexual Tension and Gorgeous Hair Ship: Shisui x Eomer

Shisui is in Big Trouble because he's a feminist in a world where feminism is a 'weird and not really a thing' thing. Yes he expected Eowyn to be wielding that sword, why wouldn't she, and why are you getting all up in my face for encouraging her. This is different from Aragorn complimenting her desire to defend her people, this is Shisui helping Eowyn smuggle armour and showing her how to garotte an orc. Eomer wants to punch the red wizard so bad, from the moment he dared OUTRUN A HORSE (wtf) to the moment he dared flash that cheeky grin and JUMP ONTO A ROOF TO LEAVE A CONVERSATION. There is a lot of tension and unnecessary interactions, like if they actually hated each other they would avoid and ignore lmao. The very slow slide into allies and gruff trust. Shisui doesn't appreciate being stifled, thanks. Eomer is ramming his head into the wall until he gets a better idea and uses biting kisses to shut Shisui up. Everyone thinks these two need to be hospitalized. (Aragorn, with those healing hands on Shisui's forehead: I have never seen you behave this way?????)

The Holy Fuck My Eyes Ship: Shisui x Arwen

I cannot unsee this, I did this to myself in The Red Ally when I suggested that Elrond had hoped that Shisui could marry Arwen so they could all sail together. 3 favorite moments in canon:

I love in Shinjiro's Social Link, just him trying to teach Fuuka to cook because I've known Fuuka couldn't cook for the longest time (since her SL began much earlier), but it was very funny to watch him try to fix that mess. It was a cute moment too.

Seeing baby Yukiko was so much fun ngl. Getting to just see that area of Persona 4 and then staying at the Amagi Inn was such a cool little cameo thing to do in P3P. It made me really happy.

Junpei's relationship with Chidori was so good tbh, I was very suspicious in the beginning (like most people I'd assume), but the way that they got closer and Junpei being the only one she really trusted. Not to mention that her Persona became his?? God it was heartbreaking and so sweet.

3 favorite headcanons:

The fact that Akihiko was apparently a crybaby as a little kid (solidarity), I love the idea of just Shinjiro causing Akihiko to cry and then being awkward with trying to comfort Akihiko but also not wanting to suck up his pride and apologize. Mini Akihiko going, "I'm not crying!" while bawling his eyes out is so adorably pathetic.

Shinjiro being a reluctant mom to the others. Cooking dinner and making sure they all sit the fuck down and eat. Doesn't care if Junpei doesn't like vegetables, Shinjiro won't cook him anything else if he doesn't eat them. Fuuka can only help in the kitchen if all the things are measured out. She can just pour ingredients in the bowl under his supervision. It's tiring, but Shinjiro does have a small smile on his face since it does feel like everyone coming together as a family.

Chidori and Junpei would've exchanged pictures. She'd draw different things for him and he'd attempt to draw too, not doing a good job, but it's still fun. They'd co-draw something one time and Chidori wouldn't edit a single line of Junpei's because she loves the fact that he's even trying for her.

3 least favorite things about it:

I only played P3P so I don't know a whole lot about P3, but I do remember when I started playing that the audio is so crunchy. I was unbelievably worried that it was going to be that bad throughout the whole game (it wasn't, but that first fight was bad sound wise)

I've only played as FeMC and I wish she had more options. I love how much more chaotic she seems to Makoto, but maybe let me smooch more of the guys pls and thank you (this is more of a nit-picky thing than anything). Oh the Ken "romance" is very not it too (I didn't do it, but the fact that it's an option is not great). I thought that'd be a yikes even back when this game was released, but what do I know.

This is probably also a nit-picky thing, but I really wish you could move around like you can in P4 and P5. The visual novel style isn't bad, but I really enjoyed being able to just walk around different locations instead of moving a joystick and hope that I click on something interact-able.

When you enlisted in the Imperial Military, the decision was made solely out of your innate need to survive. Your family’s extensive ties to the Galactic Empire made it virtually impossible for you to escape a life raised under their fascist ideals. 

As the years went on, you worked your way up to the rank of a captain, and you lost far too much of yourself along the way. You became complacent to the horrors of the Empire. 

Everything changes the day that a roguishly handsome new lieutenant is assigned to your unit. 

It’s purely by chance that you catch the lieutenant when he’s covertly attempting to send a transmission to the Rebel Alliance one evening. Prior to that, he’d given you no reason to be suspicious of him. You were certainly intrigued by him, but you’d had no doubts about his supposed loyalty to the Empire’s cause. 

He’s like a feral, cornered animal when you catch him, and you’re half certain that he’s on the verge of singlehandedly blasting his way off of the Star Destroyer. While your instinct is to immediately apprehend him for his crimes against the Empire, a small voice in your head—one that’s been left forgotten for many, many years—halts your hand’s path to the blaster holstered at your hip. You suddenly feel more awake than you have in a very long time. Your help could be crucial to the Alliance’s cause. You could help destroy this wretched place from within. 

He’s suspicious of your intentions at first, which is to be expected. But when you eventually funnel the spy enough valuable information pilfered from the Empire to convince him otherwise, he finally offers you his name—Cassian Andor.

Somewhere along the way, Cassian begins to worry about your safety as the two of you secretly work side-by-side—captain and lieutenant by day, purveyors of Imperial secrets by night. 

Cassian Andor doesn’t form attachments. He really fucking doesn’t. He can’t. It’s too dangerous. But thoughts of the embers of hope his words awaken in your eyes and the gentle curve of your lips keep him awake at night in the confines of his sterile, modest quarters on the ship.

He tries so fucking hard to ignore the heat that licks through his veins whenever you meet his gaze (and his complete and total inability to break eye contact with you first).

Cassian Andor has never been a weak man, not once in his entire life. That is, until he met you.

He knows that the complicated, all-consuming feelings that he's developed for you in the months that you've been working together are more dangerous than any suicide mission he's ever gone on as a Rebel spy. And yet despite all of his training and every single fiber of his being screaming for him to fucking focus on the mission, he can't. He doesn't.

After carefully making his way through the ship unseen, he arrives at your quarters one night with the intention of discussing the logistics of his upcoming escape. The thought of leaving you behind has left him pathetically retching over the fresher more than once, but it must be done. Both of you know it.

All of Cassian's carefully laid plans and practiced words of avoidance blow up in his goddamn face when the door to your quarters slides open, and you stand there tiredly rubbing at your eyes. He's never seen you without the cap that's an integral part of your uniform, and his heart traitorously stutters in his chest at the odd intimacy of it all. He's not sure if he wants to laugh or cry that the sight of your hair has nearly sent him to his knees.

Cassian tosses everything to the damn wind and, against his better judgement, asks you to come with him.

Perhaps it's the undeniable fear of the unknown written all over your face mixed with the brief spark of hope that flares in your eyes, warring with your uncertainty. Or maybe it's the way your gaze flicks to his lips for the briefest of moments after he asks. Whatever it is, something compels him to slowly crowd you against the wall.

"We shouldn't do this," you remark, your voice wavering. And he chuckles darkly at the irony of it all. That for all that he's left his heart tucked away and forgotten for years on end in the midst of this endless battle against tyrants, he’s suddenly no longer able to ignore how fucking loudly and desperately it now beats in your presence.

"We shouldn't," he agrees, his voice a hoarse whisper as he cups your face and leans in, brushing his lips against yours.

You really shouldn't. But as he deepens the kiss, as you run your hands through his hair, as his hands grip your waist, as your fingers fumble with the buttons on his uniform, as he slowly backs you up across the room until your knees hit the edge of your mattress—Cassian can't bring himself to care.

Number One revealing her secret to M'Benga and Chapel is such a great scene. I love how M'Benga is initially suspicious and frustrated and sympathetic all at once and Chapel just takes it in stride and is like how do we make this work and Number One is crestfallen that she can't help her crewmates

Also Chapel being like how dare you suggest I quote Starfleet regulations at you, sir, in the middle of a medical crisis

La'An rising up from the biobed behind Chapel is so eerie - I feel like she would be the type to wake up during surgery

"You're a Starfleet doctor. There's always something."

"Starfleet is right about a lot of things, but not all of them. Not about us." 😭

The look of shame on her face when M'Benga is talking about prejudices and how she can't help but he would beg her if she could 😭😭😭

The ship recommending the warp containment field be reactivated. Like if anyone has time. Probably a good idea. If you want to, you know.

Number One being like ffs when the computer alerts about the containment field

Holy shit the first officer and chief of security are having a knockdown drag out in Engineering and they are both FEROCIOUS damn no thank you I will not be sparring with either of them

Gosh just A+ acting when La'An confronts Number One about being Illyrian

Number One's genetic modification CURES RADIATION AND CAN PASS ON TO ANOTHER PERSON 👀👀👀 (who else do I know who will be subjected to a large dose of radiation in the future?)

Creepy Illyrian library is creepy when another archive tube pops out at just the right moment

"La'An tried to jump into the warp core while the containment field was down," she said, like it was no big deal. 😂

Chapel being EXCELLENT at her job 😁

Ugh, that moment when Number One enters the ten forward room but before she reaches La'An's table she pauses and you can see she's visibly nervous and a little scared, but then by the time she sits down with La'An she's got the professional work shield and the professional friend shield back up

The lighting in this scene is also fantastic with the storm outside the window and the light from the center of the table illuminating their faces as they have one of the hardest conversations they've ever had as friends

Man, I really get the sense that Number One misses home as she's talking about how her people are different from Earth's augments.

"All I ever wanted, since I first saw the stars, was to join Starfleet"

Strawberries are their comfort food ♥

The mildly concerned but mostly curious look on Pike's face as Number One is confessing in the ready room. They're both so formal here at the beginning, with his hands on the desk and her standing at attention.

The way Pike's body language changes after she admits she is an Illyrian. He leans back, like he's disengaging from her, putting distance between them, (augment, monster), but it's actually because he's no longer worried about what she might say, he can stand down

The utter sincerity in her voice as she asks for her desire to join Starfleet be considered when going before the disciplinary panel

"I don't care where you come from. You're the best first officer in the fleet."

And here Pike leans forward again, but not back into the formal hands clasped on the table. He's got like his elbows on his knees and is looking up at her as she's looking down on him as he's like you're amazing, don't worry about anything and she's like I broke seven Federation laws just by waking up this morning, you walnut and it's great, that's the relationship

okay but her little pleased but don't show him how pleased she is at his defense of her smile

Bahahaha when Pike says before you go and she whips around with this look on her face like I knew it or maybe something else but it's just like, let's not forget to get that bug patched in the transporters and then she just slips back into command mode and is like yes, sir, that is absolutely a Thing I Can Handle

And now it's M'Benga's turn to confess to a stone cold Number One, and ugh, man, is that a whopper of a confession. And the parallel between their situations is really nice, too. They both admit to breaking regulations and both are told by their superior officers to screw regulations. Great acting.

M'Benga and Rukiya are so cute together. He's trying to so hard to walk the line between being a good dad and a good doctor.

Number One's happy little smile when she talks about Pike defending her and then the crushing fear that if she wasn't "one of the good ones" he wouldn't have been so quick to defend her, if he and Spock had returned to the ship to find everyone except her dead or incapacitated, would he still like her for being her? And she's right. She was right back in the ready room, too, when she said she was just doing her job because that's 100% true. But Pike is also right to an extent because according to the Federation in general it's implied they don't think an Illyrian would have just done their job in that crisis.

"Computer, delete log entry." Say it with me, kids, personal logs (cough blogs, social media cough) are not truly private.

tbh morgadam has a nice ring to it! and it feels more even (going on a tangent here, but the most inventive ship name I've ever come across was for Mulan and Red Riding Hood: Mulan Rouge. *chef's kiss* should we try and top that?) anyhoops! I will conclude with a personal lament: I realized I won't get the chance to watch eps 5-6 before Monday. Les démons will have to wait 😭 (bye-bye til next time! 👋)

I agree that Morgadam feels more even on a first/last name basis, but I actually do love the asymmetry in Morgadec? I feel like it's so revealing of their dynamics and Karadec's uptight side while Morgane's overly chill, you know?

Plus I can't keep pretending that Karadec isn't a direct and obvious wink at Kaamelott, and Morgane being also a (suspiciously close to Viviane, mhhh) character in the Arthurian legend, I love that double allusion in the Morgane & Karadec phrasing haha 😍😍

Oh well, that's a very clever ship name!! 😂 The most inventive I came across myself was Ravi x Liv from iZombie. Her full name being Olivia, they just went for Ravioli, which I find hilarious and surprisingly fitting. I'm not sure we could find something similar for Morgadec though, they both have weird names that are hard to make up words from... 🤔

First impression: I was honestly really annoyed with him because his introduction was just doubting Robin and being very suspicious of them. (While he was completely in the right,) I was worried he was going to spend the whole game being the cliche suspicious bodyguard.

Impression now: aw I love this guy 😂 I enjoyed seeing the goofier side of him through support convos, while still getting his intense and serious knight side on the battlefield.

Favorite moment: I really enjoyed his support with Lissa! I like their relationship a lot in general (it's his duty to protect her but he never babies her), so it was nice to see him trusting and training her, and her forcing him to relax and spend some quality time together ;-;

Idea for a story: Very based off my own playthrough, but I pictured Frederick and Robin to have a very slow burn relationship because of their personalities. When Morgan comes back with the others, they haven't even realized they were in love. Morgan doesn't remember his father, so no one knows. Then, little by little, Frederick starts noticing a resemblance between him and Robin's mysterious son, and puts the pieces together. Cue the emotional realization of his feelings for Robin and coming to terms with a future of having a family at once.

Unpopular opinion: idk if it's popular or unpopular but I Hate his support convo with Robin 😭 not only is it the least romantic bonding in the world, but even for a platonic relationship it wasn't good. For being part of the main trio with Chrom and Lissa, it didn't have the same level of sweetness/serious connection.

Favorite relationship: Him and Robin! Ive been meaning to write up my thoughts on the ship because it has so much potential -- going from incredibly suspicious to madly in love, both drawn together by their love for the royal family and duty to protect them, the angst when Frederick is torn between protecting his lord and trusting his love, all that jazz. Plus there's such nice a post-canon of the two of them staying close to the castle and all their kids growing up together ;-;

Favorite headcanon: I've seen this from a few people, but I love the idea that fire-loving Frederick goes wild when Robin suggests setting the boats on fire. He's unable to contain all of his excitement -- causing most of the Shepherds to become a little more afraid of him, and Robin s little more in love with him 😂

FitzSimmons headcanons that live in my mind rent free

Academy Days:

During their time at the Academy, there were SEVERAL times they both fell asleep in one of their beds because they were up so late studying/working on projects.

like they hung out in each other’s dorms all. the. time (except when they were in the lab)

Jemma always sat in the front row in the classroom.

Fitz never did (except if it was a class him and Jemma had together, then he was right there next to her).

After FS became friends, they, without fail, would bring the other up in every conversation they had with their parents.

So much so that both sets of parents became suspicious (in a good way) of the other young cadet their child was spending all their time with.

When Mrs. Fitz met Jemma for the first time, she IMMEDIATELY loved her.

Mr. and Mrs. Simmons felt the same way about Fitz after meeting him for the first time.

Both sets of parents eventually got each other's numbers and definitely talked about their kids and how they shipped them together.

Growing up, Fitz took apart and put back together nearly every machine/contraption in their house

However, Mrs. Fitz didn't mind... most of the time.

Skip ahead/Future:

FS had one other kid after Alya, probably another daughter.

The shield fam are Aunts/Uncles to the FS kids (Aunt Elena/YoYo, Uncle Mack, Aunt Daisy, Uncle Daniel, Aunt Bobbi, Uncle Lance/Hunter).

Except for May and Coulson who are more like a third set of grandparents.

The shield fam has a group chat with the whole team in it (Jemma, Fitz, Daisy, May, Coulson, Mack, Elena, Bobbi and Hunter).

Jemma constantly sends photos and videos of the kids to said group chat, and they demand more if she hasn’t sent any in a while.

The FS kids are 100% spoiled by the team.

Alya definitely had a monkey themed nursery when she was a baby.

🎆 what i would do with them at a theme park

I can kind of imagine Kakashi and Rei being the type to be perfectly content with just hanging out and people-watching, or casually riding rides together? Like they wouldn't be diehard theme park-goers where they get there at park opening and ride everything. It's just not their style. I can see them even having annual passes to someplace just so they can go whenever they want, walk around, poke their heads into a couple of their favorite shops, maybe buy some popcorn and hang out watching the tourists, and ride a couple chill rides before ducking into a secluded corner of the park to watch the nightly fireworks (if they even make it that long to begin with). Consequently, though, they'd also know all the tips and tricks for the best routes to take to certain attractions to avoid the crowds and that the best time to ride the rides is during the parades or the fireworks when everyone else is too preoccupied.

🌄 honeymoon headcanons

Oh, I've got so many headcanons for their honeymoon 😍 The first and my favorite, though, is that they end up spending their honeymoon in the Crescent Moon Kingdom, complimentary, as a thank you to Kakashi from Michiru and Hikaru for his help during the events of The Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom. It's a great trip that they'll never forget, but also comes with some fun complications because [SPOILER ALERT] at this point in the story, Rei is actually pregnant with her and Kakashi's first child, but she's been too apprehensive to actually tell Kakashi, so she's basically dumping her alcoholic drinks into potted plants when he's not looking and passing off morning sickness as a stomach virus from eating bad seafood or something. Also they run into Jiraiya who's there doing "research" for the next book in the Makeout series, and while his shenanigans add a lighthearted little dose of comedy to the mix, I also have always had this scene in mind where they run into him at a bar and he notices Rei acting suspicious so he confronts her about it when Kakashi dips out to use the bathroom, and Rei is forced to fess up which in turn prompts Jiraiya to urge her to tell him the truth, and it would honestly be a really sweet and heartfelt moment between the two of them that I'm really looking forward to writing eventually 😭

🎦 favorite scene

Oh god, there's so many, it's really hard to pick, but the first one that comes to mind is from Chapter 87 of The Scarecrow and the Bell, "Open Water." For context, Rei had actually broken up with Kakashi a few months prior on account of trauma and grief surrounding the death of her best friend while on an ANBU mission together--the very first one where she was put in charge. She was struggling to cope with the weight of it all so much that she ended things with Kakashi on account of needing time by herself, but the magnetism that still raged between only grew increasingly harder to ignore the longer they were apart until ultimately, Rei gives in and falls back into his arms.

Here's the unfortunately long excerpt:

Rei took the long way home, circling around corners and doubling back this way and that. Anything to keep herself from making a decision. The evening air was freezing and the sky overhead had grown dreary and thick with cloud coverage. There was only one logical thing left for her to do. Only one logical thing she could manage to do. She needed to talk with him. She just needed to knock on his front door and have a valuable, civilized discussion about all of this. Maybe once she stood her ground and verbally organized her thoughts, she could finally find a sense of peace in all of this. She created a set of talking points in her mind, running down the list ten times over to ensure she woudn’t trip over her words. She could not afford to fuck this up. With hands shaking at her sides, she ascended the stairs of the apartment complex and knocked on Kakashi’s door.

It would go so smoothly. He would answer and she would be diplomatic and upfront. The five seconds between the initial knock and the first turn of the doorknob felt endless, her heart rising in her throat. She needed to get this over with. She needed peace. She needed relief. And then there he was standing before her, his face tired and his hair sticking up in all directions. She froze, their gazes locked, and she could feel her entire body suddenly going numb. She had been so confident and determined on the way there, so sure of herself. Now she felt small and weak and terrified. Her eyes darted to every little part of him, surveying his wild hair, his eyes like black holes prepared to swallow her whole, his bare arms and the faintest outline of his abs beneath his shirt, his hand on the door frame. He looked at her expectantly and a sudden anxiety pulsed between them. She needed to speak, to say something and fast, or else the entire world was going to cave in and obliterate the both of them. Her fists clenched at her sides, her stomach tightening. Relentless fear.

Rei opened her mouth, expecting something eloquent and direct to spill out. Instead, all she could manage was a croaked, “I need you.” And then, her body moving on its own accord, she surged forward, ripped off his mask, and pressed her lips hard against his.

Kakashi stumbled backward, taken aback, but did not protest. Once the shock wore off, he fell into the rhythm of their kiss and for the first time in a year, it was as if he could finally, truly breathe. He tangled his fingers in her hair and kicked the door shut, their lips working ravenously together. “I was hoping you would come back. I always…hoped you would come back” he whispered whenever their lips parted enough for him to speak.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry” she whimpered, cupping his face in her hands. She swayed on tiptoes, struggling with their height difference, before the frustration became too much. Kakashi lifted her up in his arms, hands beneath her ass, and spun on his heels toward the bed. She wrapped her legs around his waist and drew his face nearer, desperate to feel him. Her body was starving for him, screaming after a year of deprivation.

“I’ve missed you so much” Kakashi whispered, his breath against her neck. He nuzzled her cheek, pressed his lips against her jaw.

“I’m so fucking stupid” Rei said, and now the tears were threatening to fall. “I never should’ve left. I never stopped loving you.”

“I know” Kakashi replied. He cupped her cheek, wiped away a tear with his thumb. “It’s okay. I know.”

“I was such an idiot” Rei murmured. She buried her face in his neck, gripped at his shirt. Her voice was quivering and hoarse. “I’ve felt so dead…I’ve felt…I’ve felt so…broken…”

“You weren’t an idiot” Kakashi protested.

“I was an idiot” Rei insisted.

“You did what you needed to do” he replied. Every kiss was more desperate than the last, as if they were running out of time to exhibit the maximum amount of love toward one another.

Rei shook her head, planting kisses all over his face as tears streamed down her cheeks. “What I need is you.”

Kakashi pressed his forehead against hers and raked his fingers through her hair, effectively loosening her ponytail. “I’m right here…everything’s fine. Everything is going to be just fine.”

“I never should’ve left” she whispered, locking eyes with him. “I never should’ve left you.”

“You won’t have to. Never again” he whispered back, and there was a strong sense of determination in his eyes, a promise. “I’m never letting you go ever again. This is it now. You and me, from this point forward.”

Other big contenders for favorite scene are when Kakashi proposes in Chapter 100: White Day, and the angst-filled Chapter 151: Hold On when Kakashi saves Rei's life from unfortunate personal disaster (TW: suicide attempt). And while I haven't written it yet, I'm also lowkey obsessed with the moment they have their daughter and I am honestly vibrating with anticipation every single day just waiting to write that moment in my fic because it's going to be so damn emotional and wonderful and my heart can't take it. One of my favorite art pieces of them that I've ever done was actually of this scene, which you can find here (this is a link to the Tumblr version, which is cropped and censored, but the post includes a link to the full version on AO3 which has a TW for blood and childbirth-related ick, namely an appearance from our trusty friend Mr. Umbilical Cord 😅)

✨ favorite ability/power

So, I think my favorite Kakashi ability would have to just be his intelligence? I don't know, I love watching him fight and figuring out where his mind is going during the whole thing, what he's thinking and how he's planning out his next moves. Kakashi is smart as fuck and I feel like his mental capabilities are honestly so underrated compared to his ninjutsu and sharingan abilities. His taijutsu is also amazing to watch, too--all those sparring matches with Guy certainly paid off 😂

For Rei, my favorite ability of hers is also probably the most confusing to explain. From her paternal side, she's inherited an ability called chakra tethering which means she can basically implant her chakra into inanimate objects and then use that inanimate object as transmission for spying or gaining intel. Like, say she transfers some of her chakra into a tree on the outskirts of the village. From that point, she can then hide out someplace safe but that tree is now linked to her chakra network so if someone with bad vibes was caught hanging around that tree, she would sense that danger. And likewise, she can use herself as a vehicle to transfer other people's chakra into inanimate objects for the sake of having a way to feel connected to their chakra network and keep an eye on their wellbeing from afar. This is her most common use of the ability, namely through her chakra plants--she has potted plants all along her windowsill that all represent different people in her life that she holds close to her heart (her parents, her best friends, Kakashi). Establishing a chakra plant is a very intimate and esteemed accomplishment for someone in Rei's life, and she has an entire procedure for how it's done. She takes that person out to pick out the perfect flower to represent them (often referencing hanakotoba in order to choose flowers with meanings that feel representative of that person's personality; for example: peonies represent bravery, and Rei's grandmother was a brave and scrappy woman, so her chakra is tethered to the peonies on Rei's windowsill) and the perfect flower pot to plant them in. Then she sits down with this person and they go through the motions of delicately planting the flowers and then siphoning the chakra from the person into Rei, and then into the plant itself. Rei will lock that person's chakra in that plant and then from that point onward, the plant will reflect that person's wellbeing, so say if the flower starts to wilt, she knows that the person represented by that flower is in danger or dying. And likewise if the plant looks especially bright and happy, she knows they're happy and doing well! I delve into this more in Chapter 38: Hanakotoba, which sees Rei actually walk Kakashi through the process of establishing his own chakra plant. And later on, the two of them will also do something similar but their wedding bands so that they can carry a sensor on one another's chakra with them wherever they go (which is especially helpful when they're separated during the war).
