One of my favorite post-EPIC headcanons is that Odysseus' family is just completely accepting of all the unhinged sh*t that he's done.

Odysseus, over dinner, some 2 months after his return: And then I finned the sirens, letting them drown. We ate the tails later.

Telemachus, starry-eyed: OMG GUYS THAT'S MY DAD!! THAT IS!! MY DAD!! (points excitedly) ISN'T HE INCREDIBLE?

Odysseus: And later when he wouldn't stop being in my way I stabbed a god repeatedly with his own trident.

Penelope, heart-eyed: That's my husband. My love. Love of my life. You slay, my king.

The rest of the people at the table are 100% freaked out and probably terrified, btw.

There's this moment in Mark of Athena (I think), where Annabeth kind of internally laments that Percy doesn't listen to her when she talks about architecture. She describes his eyes glazing over etc etc. But there are several moments in the books where Percy recalls facts she told him and shares them with other, or moments where he sees a building he thinks is cool and thinks about her. And I just ... I need Annabeth to know that her best friend & boyfriend is hanging onto every word and even sharing her facts with other people.

My internal cheer when I saw Telemachus decked out in Athena's cape & helmet was so loud I'm surprised my internal organs are still intact.

And then I had this mental image of Athena rushing out of Apollo's infirmary & arriving at the palace in time to see Ody (the monster rawr rawr rawr) killing the suitors. So she swoops to Telemachus just as he returns, magics him into her armor & cape, hands him a spear, chop-chop, I dub thee Little Wolf & Warrior of the Mind now go do some father-son bonding via murder.

Jod being trained for only a little bit (most likely in the aftermath of Order 66) explains now why the only thing he ever really does with the Force is float things (and not even particularly heavy things, I’d like to point out).

I was wondering why he never pulled out a Jedi Mind-TrickTM at any point or why he kept getting snuck up on, why he never could pick up when a situation was about to turn sour. He only ever levitates or shoves things, he doesn’t even do the extra high and far jumps or other faster-than-the-average-person runs or spins or anything. He doesn’t even do the casual acrobatics Jedi just do!

But it makes perfect sense now!

He only had a little bit of teaching before the Jedi woman who found him was hunted and killed. And we saw in Rebels with Ezra how long it took to master the mind-trick and other connection based abilities, but the levitating objects was one of the very first things he picked up.

(Ezra could also do the jumping thing before training but Ezra’s special, okay? And Lothal itself has a lot of Force stuff going on so I take it that boasted his abilities early on.)

This also explains why Jod recites some Jedi-adjacent phrases (like the attachments stuff and the “your focus determines your reality” line). They’re things he heard her say and what’s interesting is that he still holds the spirit of some of the Jedi teachings to a degree (there are always lines he just pulls back from crossing, like he’s shown to be ruthless and even brutal yet he doesn’t physically harm the children).

I just find this so interesting: a Force-sensitive kid found by a Jedi after Order 66 but left largely untrained because their master was killed and taken from them too soon.
