I am the same way… I understand why solas almost gave up on a plan thousands of years in the making for her… I also had to make her a bit of a liar and stalker just so my brain could be like “you can’t handle all that let the bald man suffer w a cunning little lady”

Hello every sketch page you do of the two of them is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. They are so emotional and so evocative and have so much energy (the stripes on Solas's tunic that are quick vertical slashes, for example) and I just love them all so much and think you're a genius of your craft thank you so much for blessing us with your work and I'm so grateful to live on a planet where you're making art okay bye ty

What does Vallyn's name mean? Also what are Vallyn and Solas up to in the Fade? other than getting Solas pregnant, that is

My friend broke it down to me once what they thought it meant 😭

Val - memory (???) vallas means writting

Lyn (lin) - blood

So Vallyn roughly translates to "blood memory" it's very similar to vallaslin which means blood writing.

As for fade prison!!

When they're awake they go through a "journal" Vallyn wrote that tells she felt almost every day for the last 8 years. It's vague notes, terrible poetry, scribbles with messy timestamps, and crude drawings of flowers and people. Including trying to remember what solas looked like. She's not a very good artist but that only makes it more endearing.

When they are asleep they explore each other's memories from before they had met. Things they want to share with each other.

both of them struggle with their identity being striped by someone they love for the sake of the people (or a person)

Inquisitor Vallyn: her identity was stripped simce birth as she was born to a line of keepers and firsts that go back to the Exalted March. She was expected to be the next keeper and leader of Clan Lavellan everything she did was for the people. However she never developed magic, the very first in her entire bloodline to not be a mage. So she gets shoved into being a “babymaker” to hopefully birth a mage since she’s not one. To be a leader and birth/raise the next one to protect tradition and the people was her “purpose” for being born. fun facts - her mom is Keeper Deshanna - after she didn’t turn out to be a mage she became the community weaver/tailor so that she could still be a central figure in the community. She lives to serve

Mercy/Ancient au Vallyn: Vallyn was once a spirit of compassion and was the oldest friend of Sylaise. She could not join Sylaise when she got a body and Vallyn felt awful she could no longer follow her friend. However when the war started Vallyn felt powerless and went to Sylaise to ask for a body to help end the war. Slyaise went to June and begged her lover to give Vallyn a body that would never break. So June and Slyaise turned Vallyn into a weapon very similarly to what was done to Fenris. On the battlefield as people cried for mercy it is what she became. After the war Slyaise “gave” Vallyn to June as both gratitude for protecting her longest friend but as a gift to protect June and champion his ideas. June sees Vallyn not as her own person but as a reflection of Slyaise’s love. Slyaise sees Vallyn as a way to protect her lover and champion June’s ideals! here’s a little snippet of a little comic Im making for the ancient Au!
