On a side note, its probably because I'm on my period and I always get sentimental when I am, but Kansas truly is beautiful in it's own right. Like sure we don't have rolling hills, beautiful forests, or towering mountains, but we we have prairies where you can see for miles, we have a beautiful patchwork quilt of land broken into squares of golden wheat and grasses and lush greens of corn and soybean and vibrant purples of alfalfa sewn together with lines of trees and silver dirt roads. All gently decorated by pastures loveable and sweet cattle and calves, or the occasional regal horses.
Maybe she's boring to most, long and an eye sore, but the older I get the more love for my home. The more I wish she was loved and respected for all she offers just like the more tourist-y states.
I guess maybe you just have had to grow up here to see her for what she is.
#this all not to even mention the native animals#our elegant deer#our sturdy bison#our native plants too#our stunning and soft cottonwoods#our wildflowers of woven queen annes lace and sunny sunflowers and black-eyed susans#our fleabane. foxtail. and milkweed#our sickly fragrant honeysuckle#and all of the unique grasses#shes lovely my kansas whether you agree or not#kansas#prairie#just rambling ig lol

To have and to Hold
Rhea Ripley x OC
Celeste finally has time to take Rhea to meet her family...but why does she have to look so good doing everything.
Rhea Ripley was like a Swiss Army knife of personalities, able to effortlessly switch gears between dominating in the ring and melting hearts outside of it. In the squared circle, she was the undisputed queen, a powerhouse who commanded the respect and adoration of fans worldwide. But when it came to being Celeste's partner, Rhea was like a ray of sunshine, radiating warmth and affection in every gesture
Celeste couldn't help but marvel at how Rhea seemed to anticipate her every need, showering her with love and attention in the most thoughtful ways. Whether it was surprising her with flowers on a random Tuesday or giving her a soothing massage after a particularly grueling day, Rhea had a knack for making Celeste feel cherished and valued. And even when Celeste indulged in her guilty pleasure of reality TV trash, Rhea would happily join in, her laughter filling the room with joy.
So when Celeste decided to invite Rhea to her grandmother's 80th birthday celebration in their small hometown in Kansas, she knew it was time to introduce Rhea to her extended family. With Rhea recovering from a recent injury, Celeste saw it as the perfect opportunity to immerse her in the chaos of her family gatherings.
While Rhea had met Celeste's parents before and won them over with no problem, Celeste wondered how she would handle her very kind but very loud extended family. To Celeste's surprise, Rhea fit right in, charming every aunt, uncle, and cousin with her easygoing demeanor and infectious laughter. Celeste watched with a mixture of joy and arousal as Rhea effortlessly navigated conversations and shared stories with her family members, her genuine interest and warmth shining through.
But it was when Rhea started playing with Celeste's nieces that Celeste thought her heart might explode. Watching Rhea interact with the children, effortlessly blending fun and safety as she demonstrated wrestling moves with a gentle touch, Celeste couldn't help but feel a surge of love and desire for her partner. Even as Celeste intervened to remind Rhea to be mindful of her injury, she couldn't shake the feeling of admiration and attraction that was about to boil over within her.
As the day progressed, Celeste found herself growing increasingly aroused by Rhea's presence, her heart swelling with confidence at having such an incredible partner by her side. Maybe it was the few drinks she had indulged in, or maybe it was the sight of Rhea’a ass in those tight jeans, but Celeste knew she had to find a way to steal a moment alone with her.
With a mischievous grin, Celeste excused herself from the festivities and sent Rhea a playful text saying she needed a tampon to lure her upstairs. To her delight, Rhea appeared at her door in record time, concern etched on her features as she inquired about Celeste's well-being.
“You got your period? Im sorry sweetheart the worst timing ever.” Rhea said closing the door.
“Well, at least I'm not pregnant.” Celeste joked wrapping her arms around Rhea’s neck.
“Oh thank god I was getting worried we might have a magic strap.” Rhea laughed leaning in for a kiss.
Rhea's kiss was tender and gentle, reflecting her innocent intentions of finally having a moment alone with her girlfriend. But when Celeste returned the kiss, it was anything but innocent, catching Rhea off guard and causing her to raise an intrigued eyebrow.
“What's got you all riled up,” Rhea questioned.
“I am not sure to be honest.” Celeste laughed. “Something about you seeing you interact so effortlessly with my family really got me going….”
Rhea blushed.
“Well that's very sweet my love but there is a very large party downstairs that I have a feeling will notice how we are missing.”
“I agree…but I think it will take them about fifteen minutes.” Celeste said leaning in to kiss Rhea’s neck.
“Someone is confident,” Rhea smirked.
“Oh, c'mon I have made you cum in less.” Celeste teased pushing Rhea to her bed.
As Rhea sat down on Celeste's twin bed while she straddled Rhea, Celeste had to laugh.
“You know when I was a teenager I used to dream of sneaking my crush into my room. And now I have the love of my life squirming in anticipation under me.” Celeste said moving to unbutton Rhea’s shirt.
Rhea let out a moan as Celeste cupped her breast. She rolled her nipple between her thumb and ring finger as she felt them getting stiff.
Celeste pushed her back on the bed moving her lips right above Rhea’s right nipple glancing her eyes up at her as Celeste slowly moved her tongue around. Rhea let out a whine as Celeste began to suck on it. Rhea loved it when Celeste bit down a little bit, her hand shooting out to Celeste's hair. Her moans got louder as Celeste began kissing down her abdomen undoing the zipper on her jeans. Celeste got on her knees hooking her arms under Rhea’s muscular thighs. Celeste admired her thighs for a moment licking and sucking dangerously close to her heat.
“Fuck stop being such a tease they are going to start getting suspicious,” Rhea whined.
“They will only be suspicious if you don't keep your fucking moans down,” Celeste said kissing Rhea’s slit making her gasp.
Celeste loved seeing Rhea like this. To the world, she was the strongest, the most dominant woman on the planet. So Celeste loved it when she was moaning and restless underneath her begging for more. Celeste moved her tongue slowly in a figure-eight motion over her clit savoring the way Rhea tasted. Rhea reached out for a pillow covering her face as her moans got louder. When Celeste added two fingers she could tell Rhea was already close. As she curled her fingers up Celeste applied more pressure with her tongue on her clit.
“Fuck baby I love when you do that.” She said in a raspy voice making Celeste's eyes roll back.
Celeste increased the speed of her fingers as sinful sounds started echoing through the room Rhea’s breath getting faster.
“I'm going to.. Oh fuck” She groaned as her back arched off the bed.
Celeste smiled not letting up her speed as she came around her fingers.
Celeste wanted to keep going but eventually slowed down making sure Rhea felt every moment of her orgasm before pulling her fingers out and laying down next to Rhea on the bed.
“Shit if all I had to do to get that kind of head were be nice to your family I would have begged for you to take me home sooner,” Rhea smirked pushing Celeste's hair behind her ear and giving her a tender kiss.
hen Celeste pulled back, she beamed at Rhea with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"Well, you better get used to it, Miss Ripley. Imagine the head after the wedding," Celeste smirked, teasingly.
Rhea's eyes widened in faux shock. "Well, shit, let me go find a ring," she exclaimed, leaping up from her seat and making Celeste burst into laughter.
Celeste smoothed down her hair as she watched Rhea rummage through her old jewelry box. Rhea turned back to Celeste, dropping to one knee with a playful grin.
"Will you do me the honor?" Rhea asked, presenting Celeste with her mood ring from seventh grade.
Celeste erupted into laughter, showing Rhea her hand as she accepted the ring. "It's what I've always dreamed of, how did you know?" she dramatically gasped.
Amid their laughter, Celeste and Rhea exchanged the ring, enjoying the playful moment together. As they fixed each other up to ensure their actions weren't too obvious, Rhea paused Celeste before they headed back downstairs.
"I really cannot wait to be your wife," Rhea said softly.
"To have and to hold..." Celeste smiled, leaning in to kiss her.
"...and give the best head," Celeste added with a mischievous grin, playfully smacking Rhea on the ass before darting back downstairs, with Rhea hot on her trail.
Rhea couldn't help but think she could get used to this little life with Celeste.

“This isn’t gonna end well,” Sam huffed as he shouldered Dean’s duffle bag, and turned to stare at Y/N and Dean as she helped him into his flannel and rolled up the sleeves for him. He’d lost so much weight in the few weeks he’d been in the hospital that his clothes looked baggy on him, and he just looked small overall. But Dean’s mind was made up. He was ready to go home.
The doctor had released him to finish his recovery at home since he was moving around some on his own after his trip to the shower, and Dean informed the doctor that he was originally from Kansas and wanted to recover there instead of staying in Ohio. At first, the doctor was reluctant, but with some convincing; he agreed that if Dean kept moving around on his own some, mainly getting up at least once a day and showering or going to the bathroom, and as long as his pain level stayed basically managed, he’d refer his case over to a friend of his that had an office not far from Lawrance. He could take up Dean’s care from there, as well as sending him to a physical therapy center in Lebanon when it was time to move onto that phase of the recovery.
He did give him strict orders to remain in bed as much as possible; not walking long distances, and absolutely no heavy lifting or strenuous activity whatsoever. If he had to travel long distances, use the wheelchair, if he had to shower, someone needed to be present to help him at all times. Basically, he was bed bound with bathroom privileges.
“Sammy, I appreciate the effort that you and Eileen put into finding me an apartment and all that, I really do. But the doctor said it could take up to a year before I’m back to even being able to walk properly or even think about starting physical therapy. I’m not staying here a fucking year. I wanna go home,” Dean said, his tone leaving little room for argument, but Sam was gonna try anyway, and Y/N was gonna keep her mouth shut as she knelt down in front of Dean to slip his socks on his feet and start to lace up his boots because he refused to wear the pair of flip flops that Sam had brought in. This was not her fight. She was here to help Dean, and if Dean wanted to go home, and the doctor said he could go, then home is where they were going.
Home, that was a word she had never had before, but Dean had made it very clear, the bunker was now her home too, and that he wanted her there with him. It was a strange feeling. As long as Y/N had been an adult, she’d never had a place to call home. Even though she’d only been there once before, she longed for it now. She wanted it. She wanted a home, and she wanted it with Dean, even though she wasn’t about to admit that outloud and scare him away. Nope, not gonna happen.
“You could at least stay there until your back is healed better,” Sam pressed. “This ride is not going to be fun Dean, it’s going to be excruciating.”
“I can lay down in the back seat while Y/N drives Sam. That’s why I told you to put the pillows back there. I’ve been in excruciating pain since I woke up, so whether I’m here or in my Baby going home to my room, I’m going to be in some form of pain, at least this pain will be worth it.”
“This is a fourteen-hour drive Dean, do you really think you can just—”
“And if I get too uncomfortable, Y/N and I will get a hotel room for the night, but as of right now you standing here wanting to argue with me about it is burning daylight! I’m not a goddamn invalid, and I’m not a child. I’m going home. End of discussion!” Dean shot back before reaching for Y/N to help him stand so that he could lower himself into the waiting wheelchair.
“Sam,” Eileen butted in, placing a hand on Sam’s shoulder to stop him from turning this into a full on fight. “Dean wants to go home. He’s been through a lot, I think he could make this trip home.”
Sam’s mouth formed a thin line, but he said nothing, just passed Dean’s bag to Y/N and threw his hands up in the air in defeat.
“Fine,” Sam gave in, before turning to Y/N, “Do you want us to follow you since you’re gonna be driving him all that way?”
“No,” Dean cut in, and Sam looked down at him with narrow eyes, “Y/N’s got me. She’s been here taking care of me this whole time; I think she can handle helping me in and out of the car.”
Sam gave his brother a dead panned look, and Y/N finally decided whether she wanted to or not she was going to have to be part of this argument.
“We’ll be fine Sam; you and Eileen go on ahead and if I have any trouble, I will call you guys. Go get Dean’s room ready and get Miracle home. I’m going to take it slow with him. If we decide to stop, I’ll let you guys know, but I don’t see why we should all have to caravan there and back.”
“Alright,” Sam said with a huff before turning to put his hand on Eileen’s shoulder, “I guess we’ll head out and get Miracle, and then head towards home.”
“You ready to break out of here,” Y/N turned to ask Dean; he nodded stubbornly as she unlocked the chair and Sam held open his door for her to roll his brother out of it and down to the elevators to bring him to his Baby.
“Yeah, I just wish I was walking out instead of having to be rolled around in this damn chair.”
“Hey,” she said as Sam pushed the button between the shiny silver doors and everyone waited for the ding and green down arrow, “You’re getting out of here and going home, that’s all that matters. Okay?”
Dean swallowed thickly and nodded as Y/N pushed him inside and the doors closed behind them.
The tension in the small elevator was almost tangible. Y/N disagreed with Sam in a lot of ways. She understood why he was afraid for Dean to get too far away from this hospital or drive that far away, he had almost lost him for good the night of the hunt, but Y/N did think that he was trying to drive home what Dean couldn’t or shouldn’t do too much. Dean was already struggling mentally; he didn’t need someone telling him he couldn’t do it. If he wanted to, Y/N was willing to get him there within safe limits.
It also irked her that Sam didn’t trust her to take his brother home. At least, that’s how she felt. She’d been here with him night and day since Dean had gotten hurt. She’d done some things she was sure Sam would not have exactly volunteered to do; like help clean him up after he’d had an accident the night, they took the catheter out. She’d cleaned up vomit. She’d dressed him, and bathed him. She had learned how to dress his wounds in his back. She’d spent hours with the doctors and nurses learning how to give him his medication; learning the exercises needed to be done with his legs until he became more mobile. She’d slept on the couch next to him, at least when she slept, because at first she was afraid to go to sleep, afraid he’d need her and couldn’t wake her up. She never left his side. She never left the hospital while he was there. She had been there with him through it all. She’d surely be there with him through this journey home, and she’d die before putting him in danger or doing anything that would hurt him.
As the elevator came to a stop at the bottom floor, Dean took a deep breath and pulled his car keys from his pocket and passed them over to her; which she took with slightly trembling hands. She rolled him out to where she’d parked Baby under the breezeway; to make it easier for Dean to get into the bed she had created in the backseat for him.
“Hey Baby,” Dean greeted her as Y/N pushed him up to the back passenger door that the nurse had opened up for him, “Did you miss me?”
The nurse chuckled as she wished them luck as Y/N dropped Dean’s duffle into the front passenger seat, before helping him stabilize himself long enough to stand up and sit down with a whine into the backseat while Sam placed the wheelchair into the top trunk compartment.
Dean sat there for a moment to catch his breath, his fist gripping Y/N’s arm’s tightly and she wasn’t sure if they were even going to get out of the parking lot until he relaxed enough for her to help him slide over onto the pillow propped up against the locked door across from him, and rest his legs comfortably on the seat before she draped a blanket over him.
“All set handsome?” she questioned, and Dean nodded tightly as she crawled back out of the car to shut the door.
“If you guys need us, just call,” Sam said. “I know Dean doesn’t want us to follow you, but let us know if you have to stop with him for the night, or if you need me to turn around, because I don’t care if I’m already in the driveway I will do it.”
“I got this Sam,” Y/N countered, “he’s gonna be fine. I’ll let you know if we stop for the night.”
Before Sam could protest anymore, Y/N hurried her way around to the driver’s side and slid inside before shutting the door to see Dean looking at her in the rearview mirror.
“You ready?” She asked as she turned the key and Baby roared to life, causing a few passersby to turn their heads and she smirked to herself; remembering the first time she’d heard her too. She was pretty sure that was the moment she’d fallen in love with Dean, and honestly, had the situation been different, she would have been over the moon to have finally been allowed to drive her.
“I’m more than ready, let’s put this fucking hunt behind us sweetheart, I wanna go home.”
Dean made it a grand total of one hour before he was asleep soundly in the backseat, more soundly than he had ever slept in the hospital, which really should not have surprised her at all. Baby was more of a home to Dean over the years than anything he’d had; even with his injury, and the discomfort, he felt safe. Safer than he had anywhere else since he’d woken up, and that alone was enough to lull him to sleep.
Her eyes drifted to him every few minutes, and she was afraid every bump she hit in the road, or even if she turned too hard, she’d hurt him, but he never even flinched, just snored softly in the background with the occasional grunt in his sleep.
He slept for a good bit of the trip before she pulled over to the nearest fast-food place about four hours into the trip, and he’d woken up for the first time. He still wasn’t eating in the hospital as much as he probably should have been, but much to her surprise he’d eaten all of his burger, and the majority of his fries.
She thought that maybe, just maybe, he’d be able to make it the whole trip, but about nine hours into the journey she could see the physical discomfort setting in, and she knew they weren't going to make it the whole way in one day. It wasn’t so much the fact that they were going to have to stop that concerned her; rather the thought that he’d be too sore in the morning and that might delay their return by several days instead of making it in one or two days, which she worried would agitate him more.
Still, she convinced him after about thirty minutes of arguing about it that it would not hurt him to stop and sleep at a hotel room for the night, and she was almost convinced that he was afraid she’d turn around and take him back to the hospital, but she wouldn't do that, not unless it was really necessary. She’d already seen him relax too much, seen too much improvement in him. It would take something really drastic to take him back now.
“Just a few more steps Dean,” she coaxed him as she shuffled him towards the bed, and Dean nodded but didn’t really make much of a sound other than a tired grunt as she helped lower him onto the bed.
Granted, she didn’t exactly rent a roach motel, and mostly because she was afraid of infection and things he might be exposed to with a wound. She wanted something clean, and something he could shower in. The nicer motels usually had handicap accessible rooms, which is just what she was lucky enough to get.
“Fuck,” he groaned as he worked to stretch himself out on the bed, slapping her hand away as he did so, “Why the hell am I still so fucking tired? All I’ve done is ride in the back of a car?”
“I personally think you did pretty damn good,” Y/N countered. “In fact, you went a lot further today than I expected you too. Give yourself some credit Dean, this is the first time you’ve been out of the hospital, and you just made a fucking nine hour ride all the way here, I’d say that’s pretty fucking impressive.”
Dean just shook his head, completely unconvinced.
“I’m never gonna get used to this,” he admitted, watching as she took his shoes and socks off of him with irritation clear on his face. “I can’t even take my own Goddamn shoes off.”
“Maybe not, but you did get yourself in and out of the car today several times with little to no help. You’re going to the bathroom on your own. Most importantly, you’re sitting up in the bed right now being extremely stubborn, when you could be dead. It’s gotten a lot better Dean, and it WILL get better. You just have to give yourself some time. Stop being so hard on yourself.”
Dean didn’t argue with her, but she could see he was still pretty down at the moment as she worked to help him out of his jeans and shirts. This was the hardest part of it all. Knowing what he could do, and no longer could; what he wanted to do, and no longer could. It was horrible.
“Wanna try out the shower tonight, or in the morning before we hit the road again?” she tried to change the subject, and he looked towards the bathroom with his lower lip between his teeth for a moment, debating.
“I mean, I didn’t do anything to get really dirty, all I did was ride in the back of the car. I think I’d rather wait until the morning to take one so I can get in the car and make the rest of the journey a little more relaxed, maybe not as bound up in Jeans and shit either, just put some sweats on me and an old shirt. I think that would help.”
She nodded in agreement, and looked around the room, at the couch that lay within eye shot of the queen-sized bed Dean was stretched out on, before grabbing the pillows that were next to him, as well as an extra blanket she had brought in from the bag to make her bed on the couch. She had hoped they would have a double queen handicap available, but there was no such luck. She’d slept on the couch for this long, one more night wasn’t going to kill her.
“What are you doing?” Dean questioned, reaching for her arm and stopping her in her tracks. She furrowed her brows at him in confusion before pointing towards the small couch again with her free hand.
“Going to make my bed,” Y/N said as if it should have been something that was obvious.
“Uhm, you’re not sleeping on that,” Dean said, and continued to stare at him in confusion.
“Sooo, where am I supposed to sleep? The floor?”
“No! God Y/N/N, this is a fucking queen-sized bed, get your ass in here and stop being so fucking stubborn. I mean, you’re gonna have to share a bed with me when we get home. It’s a long walk to the bathroom from my room, and I don’t think I’d be able to make it alone if I needed something right away. I told you sweetheart, I’m gonna need you close.”
There was something in his eyes, something that if she didn’t know better, she would have categorized as fear. But that was impossible, Dean Winchester feared nothing, and in the time she’d known them, there was not a chance in hell that she would have thought he would let it show if he did. There was a vulnerability there, one that almost knocked her on her ass.
“Okay, you’re right,” Y/N agreed, and Dean sighed as he let go of her arm and she placed the pillows back on the bed next to him. “I just… I guess I don’t really know what my boundaries are, you know, when it comes between me and you. I guess we weren’t exactly close before this, and I don’t want to do anything that might make you uncomfortable, or be something that you don’t want me to do.”
Dean reached for her hand again, and this time Y/N sat on the bed next to him and watched as he twirled the ring on her finger around, examining it closely.
“I get what you’re saying, and I appreciate that, but honey, you’ve seen more of me and seen more of the worst parts of me than anyone has; including Sam. Sure, we weren’t ‘close’, but I… I wanted us to be closer. I know it’s too little too late, and I know, the likelihood of me being the man I was is almost non-existent, but I did want more. I wanted to get to know you. I wanted things to, I don’t, I’m not good with words or expressions, but I wanted us to… maybe be an ‘US’, and not just friends before I ended up this way. So, I guess what I’m trying to say is, that there really are no boundaries you can cross with me. I know I can’t… I don’t really have anything to contribute to an actual relationship, but I still want you as close to me as you’re willing to get, so there really is no boundaries there. At least, not for me.”
“Dean,” she managed to get around the huge lump that had suddenly formed in her throat as she placed a gentle hand to the side of his face, and fuck if she didn’t almost cry as soon as he leaned into her touch. She was dumb struck, and she almost didn’t believe him, but there was something deep, deep down that told her Dean wasn’t just saying that for her to just stay there with him, in fear she’d leave him alone, but he really did mean it.
“Dean, you have no idea how much I’d love for there to be an ‘us’, and that I want to be close to you. I’ve always wanted to be close to you. This horrible, fucked up situation doesn’t change that. So what, you can’t hunt anymore. What if I told you I’m sick of fucking hunting anyway?! I’m sick of all the horrible shit we had to face every day. I don’t care that you might have a physical handicap now, or even for the rest of your life. That’s not why I care about you. That’s not why I’m here.”
Dean bit down hard on his lip and looked away from her as he tried to blink back the sudden moisture in his eyes.
“But it… It might be a really long time, before we can… before I can—”
“Then it will just be a long time,” Y/N cut in. “Sex isn’t everything Dean.”
“I know,” Dean admitted before swallowing hard, and looking back down at his lap.
“Do you really mean it?” he questioned. “Do you really want to try? I know this isn’t the way I had planned to start things off with us. I had actually planned to see if I could talk you into driving out to the coast with me, maybe spend some time on the beach or something… I would have never guess…”
“I mean it Dean, I really do.”
Dean took a heavy breath before reaching for her, and she slid under the cover next to him, as gently as possible, and slowly she laid her head on his shoulder as he wrapped his arm around her. If the man could have melted in that moment she swore he would have done it. He was so touch starved. Which she never really noticed before, maybe because he didn’t want her to see it.
“I’m so tired,” Dean voiced after a long time of her just laying there with him, her fingers tracing the freckles on his bare chest, committing every precious one to memory.
In a fit of bravery, she leaned upward and kissed his cheek before settling back down next to him wrapping herself as close to him as she thought safe too without hurting him.
“Sleep Dean, tomorrow we can finally get home.”

Hi girl! Yeah, I wouldn't mind if you answered me privately or not, haha.
I kind of feel bad and guilty, because I only have criticisms against him here, even though I've seen criticisms on Twitter or a friend who has the same opinions as me.
Yes, Fernando is a Formula 1 driver, I already knew him, but after he dealt with Taylor about everything, I started watching Formula 1 like others watch American football, honestly? I believed that they could have had an affair, because he was the first namesake, after Joe (and Joe made me choose him in any discussion, after he showed support for Palestine), who was linked as a boyfriend or something like that with her. I thought they could have something, but I think he was joking with the fans, who thought they were dating and with the fansx who knew he wasn't with Taylor, when journalists asked him questions, I think that, Fernando liked to know that he was connected with such a beautiful woman, but he never made any disrespectful comments about her, he was one of the few that I never found sexist at all with her, I stopped believing that they had something, with the songs about M*tty.
I've heard, at the very beginning, when she started going to games or when no one knew, if his brother was telling the truth about him knowing her, some fans were misogynistic towards her, I wouldn't be surprised, although I love watching football that the rest of the world follows, the players and fans can be very misogynistic or racist and everything, I remember this, since I was a little girl, so I wouldn't be surprised by this kind of behavior in such a masculine sport like American football.
I thought, you had heard about him talking about going to her show, I don't remember, whether it was in Kansas or another night, he felt like a very hot man, I think in a radio interview, he said that he made friendship bracelets to exchange with her fans and one with his phone number for her, honestly? I think that, from the beginning, he uses her to be more famous, because an American friend who, neutral with Taylor, and loves American football, told me that he was better known in the past, she wouldn't be surprised, if he had said misogynists things about her, but after you answered the anonymous question, I also think she uses him as the same reason.
After that, I was in Pedro Pascal's fandom for a year or almost two years, I don't remember, I think fandoms have a lot of hypocrisy, Pedro's fans pretend to accept everyone, like he accepts everyone, but the history of his life, how old he is, how he was born in another country and being an immigrant in the United States, you understand, why he is so different from other men or people of his generation in having an open mind, but some fans, who are American white or European people don't understand, and they don't accept you, even if you're from the same fandom as them and you're a fan of his, so nowadays, I don't consider myself part of his fandom anymore, especially because I'm a Latina like him, and I'm just an admirer of his work and the person he is.
Thank you very much, but whenever, I make a comment criticizing him or their relationship, I always lose a follow, but how I was treated in Pedro's fandom or am treated, when I criticize how some people, who say they are his fans treat Pedro, I don't bother anymore, if someone didn't agree with my opinion about her boyfriend or their relationship.
Hey girl! You shouldn’t feel bad! A lot of people share your opinion and you’ve raised some really important and valid points (especially about fan culture).
I agree with you that Travis leans on Taylor’s fame and loves this about her. For example, his podcast merch sold out when Taylor wore the cap at Coachella and his brands social media account was updating everyone to know that they were restocking $$$$.
Trayvis fans like to believe that Travis’ behaviour is endearing and romantic but to do so would be to overlook the financial stake he has in this relationship. He profits off of her and we all know it.
However, like you pointed out, Taylor also benefits from being exposed to a new marketing demographic. Taylor and Travis have a mutually beneficial marketing arrangement. It’s what makes their relationship seem so superficial to me.
I also agree with your points on fandom culture. It’s why I don’t really consider myself to be a “swiftie” in the intense fan way. At the end of the day, all we want is to admire art and form connections within a safe community.

Colin and Michael - New Year's Day 2025

Hello Henry,
Thanks for your email, I hope you've recovered from Thanksgiving? How's the TIE Fighter coming along? You'll have to send me a photo next time. I was thinking of getting a Millenium Falcon for Christmas but I'm not sure your mum would want it taking up her house! Maybe I can get one and you can keep it here. I'm sorry to hear about your dad and Marie, you were right - he didn't tell me. I hope he's OK, he told me what you said when you came over last time. He wants to be close to you, and I can't blame him - you're so much fun to hang out with! Next time you visit we'll have to plan some days out - as long as you don't mind me tagging along?
Speak to you soon!
With warm regards, Rebecca
(Hi Michelle, of course I don't mind, it's lovely to hear from both of you. I sometimes wonder what might have happened if Ted hadn't been so stubborn in keeping his UK and Kansas lives so separate. Take care, R)

Hey Becca (can I call you that? Dad does so…?),
I hope you're ready for Christmas? I can't wait to visit again, I hope I can get dad to agree to take me in the spring. It would be so cool to have a Millenium Falcon! But it is huge, mom said it could live at yours and we can build it together when I visit. I asked mom whether I could visit more but she said it's up to my dad.
Thanks for the Roblox credits! There's a way cool new game on there I want to try!
Love H xoxo
Hey Rebecca, at this point I think Henry’s ready to hop on a plane alone to visit. He misses Richmond so much! I think I'll join him! It's a shame Ted can't understand that it's not just about where he is. I'm guessing you haven't spoken to him recently but he's probably less present a few blocks away than he was 4000 miles away. How can I persuade him that home isn't a place? After what I've heard about/from Marie, I get it now. It's you. Will keep trying, but you know how stubborn he is! Speak soon, Chelle xo

Hi both!
Did you get the Christmas box OK? Just some things for both of you. The Falcon is safe in my office ready for when you visit!
You're both welcome to visit whenever you want - without Ted if you wish!
(Here’s the boring bit for mum! If only you knew the things I suggested to him. Schools for both of you - anything you wanted or needed. I know it was too much to ask of you though. Just as I'd never ask Ted to leave Henry, he'd never ask you to uproot your lives in Kansas. It's not about me, I know this is the sacrifice he believes he needs to make as a parent.)
We had a crazy Christmas party this week - Isaac dressed as Santa again and we somehow managed to get Jamie to dress up as an Elf! I've sent some of the tamer pictures for you, but it did get wild! Nate has got a new Karaoke machine and it gets a bit of a workout every Friday after training. I’m pretty sure it’s just so Roy can go and do some work in peace though and he knows they won’t bother him. I’m going to Leslie’s for Christmas dinner this year, but first I have to go and take some gifts to some families in the community. I’ll pop in and say hello to Mae for you, H - she asks after you all the time! She suggested one of the gifts in your box - I wonder if you can guess which one?!
Love, Becca (of course you can call me Becca, darling. I love it!) xxx

Hi Becca,
Merry Christmas!
Your gift box was way too generous - thank you! Henry loved all of it - especially the dart board! And I'm so grateful for the things you included for me, you really shouldn't have!
Hen told his dad that we'd been mailing you, I think he was a little surprised!
I don't think you overstepped by looking into schools etc. It just shows how much you care for Ted - for all of us, really. Things were obviously a bit strained at the time with Jake around. Turns out he wasn’t as great as I thought - always the way!
Have a great Christmas & hopefully we'll get to see you soon.
Love, Chelle & H xoxo

Rebecca beamed at her inbox, the month she’d spent exchanging emails with Henry and Michelle had been lovely - her responses had gotten less and less formal and she’d really been able to see Michelle in a new light. Though she hadn’t heard from Ted personally and therefore wasn’t supposed to know about his split with Marie, she was grateful that Henry had told her. It had brought her so much joy to send a huge gift basket over to them for Christmas. She’d laughed hysterically at the thought of Henry and Michelle trawling through the big box with gifts for both of them while Ted looked on utterly bemused. She’d sent a box to him too, a separate one with new LASSO Richmond shirts - she hadn’t taken him off the staff workwear order list so every few months a handful of new training polos arrived for him, she’d taken to sleeping in them. She’d also put a really great picture of the two of them from Keeley and Roy’s wedding where they’d been laughing together in the box along with the snacks she knew he’d come to love which he couldn’t get in the US. She’d had the guru in the IT department burn a CD for her - to their horror - of songs she’d noted that reminded her of Ted. She could picture him driving Henry to school and the Macarena coming on. She’d had a wonderful Christmas dinner with the Higgins’ and members of the team who didn’t have family locally. Since the year when everyone had descended on his house, the event had remained popular and once she’d done her gift deliveries she’d joined them. She’d taken photos of the huge table - the surfboard needed to be used again, selfies with half the team and Julie, and sent them to Ted. She’d video called Keeley, Roy and Jamie who’d had a quiet morning but were expecting Phoebe for a sleepover, she’d caught up with her mother, Sassy and Nora and exchanged messages with Trent. By 10pm she was back home and exhausted. She poured a large glass of wine and took it to her sitting room where she could put her feet up and Netflix on. Her phone buzzed on the arm of the sofa with a call from Ted.
“Hello stranger. Merry Christmas.”
“Hey Becca, Merry Christmas. Sorry it’s been a while.”
“I’ll forgive you. How’s your day going?” She checked her watch, late afternoon for Ted.
“So far so good. Been at Michelle’s with Hen and both of our moms.”
“Hmm… ouch?”
“Something like that. I keep running into Michelle in the kitchen trying to hide from them. Henry keeps dragging us back in so he doesn’t have to handle them alone.”
“Poor boy, you can’t do that to him!”
“Good job someone sent him a heap of lego to keep him busy?”
“If you think that’s a lot of lego, you should see my home office.”
“You didn’t have to, you know?”
“I wanted to. Henry means a lot to me, he deserves to be spoiled.”
“And Michelle? I didn’t realise my ex wife and my… you had gotten so close.”
“My you? We’ve made a connection, that’s all. And I remember you said she’d heard about my skincare routine so I thought I’d send some products. One of those luxuries she’d never purchase for herself.”
“At 200 dollars a bottle?”
“Ted, we’re in our forties, I have no intention of looking like my father when I get to 70 and ‘m sure neither does Michelle. We have to take care of ourselves.” He didn’t respond. “Ted, are you mad that your ex wife and son and I are emailing each other?”
“No. Yes. I don’t know. Why does it feel like you’re all conspiring against me?”
“We would never do that. I don’t know what kind of woman you think I am, Ted, but I distinctly recall telling you that I would never influence your choices when it came to Henry. And Henry and Michelle are looking out for you.”
“Some would call it meddling.”
“Some would call it loving you. If you’re going to be a prick, I’m hanging up. It’s Christmas day and You’ve Got Mail is on.”
“I’m sorry, you’re right. Of course Henry isn’t meddling, he’s a kid.”
“He knows more than you give him credit for. He knows his own mind, and he knows when the people he loves aren’t happy.” Silence again. “Are you coming over next week? For the wedding?”
“Of course, I’ve got a streak to maintain.” Rebecca choked on her wine. “In that, I haven’t missed a Richmond wedding yet?”
“Right, that streak. Well Colin is very excitable. Everyone is looking forward to seeing you.”
“I’m surprised they’re not sick of me. Is it me or has there been a lot of weddings since I left?”
“No, there has. Keeley and I were talking about it. They all seem to be happening in very quick succession. I’m ready for a break from them now. But you know us, any excuse for a good party.”
“True.” He mused. "How've you been?"
"Good, I've not long gotten back from Leslie’s. Half the team were there, it was a lovely day. Thierry is awful at charades and Richard brought his new Victoria's Secret model girlfriend."
"Sounds fun, what's she like?"
"Oh she's lovely, she's doing a PHD in mechanical engineering. The modelling is just a side hustle."
"Sounds like the premise for a romcom."
"It does, doesn't it? Suffice to say all of the boys were very enamoured with her. Though I think she's far too smart for them."
"Someone I know is remarkably similar, actually."
"Keeley? That's what I said."
"You, sweetheart."
"Don't be silly."
"Underestimated by anyone and everyone."
"Except you."
"Oh I'm definitely stupid enough to have underestimated you in the past. I try to avoid it now." She heard hushed voices in the background of the call, "hang on a sec." She waited for a minute and her phone beeped with a request to switch to video. She accepted and the screen filled with Ted and Henry.
"Henry!"
"Becca! Merry Christmas!"
"You too! Having fun?"
"Both grandma's are asleep on the sofa. I came to get dad to do some lego."
"You guys had better run then! Can't miss out on lego."
"Have you had a good day?"
"I have, thank you, all the better for seeing you though!"
"Mom says hi, she's starting the book you sent her."
"That's wonderful, darling. You've still got the rest of the day to have fun, it's nearly bedtime for me." Ted watched back and forth, first surprised by Henry calling her 'Becca', then by her calling him 'darling'. "I'll let you both go, thank you for calling me. It was so lovely to hear you both. Ted, I'll see you in a few days? And H, we'll work on a Spring visit? See you soon my love!" She said with a wink.
"Go choose a lego set, Hen, I'll just say goodbye to Becca." Henry disappeared from view, "A Spring visit?"
"We've got some great days out planned. You should join us." Rebecca said with a smirk.
"You're trouble."
"Only occasionally."
"I'll see you in a few days."
"You will. Goodnight, Ted. Merry Christmas."
"Goodnight, Bec. Merry Christmas."
~~~~~~~~
Ted was due to arrive the day before New Year's eve. Rebecca and Keeley had planned on attending the match late afternoon on New Year's eve and then a low key team celebration to see in 2025. Roy had given strict instructions for everyone to have a tame night, nothing wild or crazy, so that they could all be fresh and ready for Colin's wedding.
"Come on, Jamie!" Rebecca roared alongside Ted as Jamie received the ball from Dani and found space through the center of the pitch. They were 2-0 down and the second half had just started. They needed three goals in the next 45 minutes to avoid struggling in the second half of the season. He hit the post and Rebecca growled in frustration, the ball bounced back towards Sam who managed to get it under control and take a shot of his own. Nelson Road went crazy as Sam's shot found the goal. Rebecca was on her feet, as were Keeley and Ted. The ball was barely back in play when Dani took a shot of his own to make it 2-2.
"I don't know whether I like watching from up here more, or down by the pitch. I didn't realise how excited you get." He said with a knowing grin.
"Ted, this is nothing - I thought she was going to run down to the pitch during your last game!" Keeley laughed. The match frustratingly slowed down and Richmond were unable to score again, luckily neither did the other team so they settled with a tie. Beard did some complicated math over dinner at Ola's and tried to come up with the various combinations of final standings until Rebecca took his notebook away with a glare,
"We are 5 months away from the end of the season. We're only halfway through." She sat back down next to Ted and stashed the book into her bag. Isaac's hand came down to knock on the table.
"Get the karaoke out - Jamie's gotta sing Britney!" he ordered.
"Why?!"
"You hit the post. Thems the rules bro."
"Nah man, we got the goal!"
"Sammy got the goal. You got the post. Sing for me, pretty boy." Jamie cursed and grumbled while Nate set the machine up. He soon warmed up to his audience and treated them all to a rendition of Toxic - complete with saucy dance moves.
"It's no Macarena, but that boy can dance." Ted pointed out.
"One day, I'm sure he'll teach you how to Macarena if it means that much to you." Rebecca soothed.
"I'd rather learn it from you. Them hips definitely don't lie, honey." They’d hardly left each other's side since he arrived at Nelson Road just in time for the match, they'd also not said a word about Marie. Rebecca could feel the knowledge that he was single coursing through her veins, it both put her on edge and comforted her all at once. It seemed to put more tension between them. Should anything happen, neither of them would be in the wrong this time, but the arrival and departure of both Matthijs and Marie hadn't never really been the issue. They'd just been disguising the original blocker of Ted's move back to Kansas. The karaoke continued despite Roy trying to tame them all. When it became clear that Colin and Michael were also up for a party, no one else had any excuse to leave early. If the grooms wanted to sing karaoke the night before their wedding then the team wouldn't let them down. After much persuasion from Rebecca and Keeley - who'd both worked their way through the Spice Girls back catalogue - Ted was finally on stage. He'd refused to sing alone though so Keeley cued up a duet for him to share with Rebecca.
Don't go breaking my heart
I couldn't if I tried
Honey if I get restless
Baby you're not that kind
Don't go breaking my heart
You take the weight off of me
Honey when you knock on my door
Ooh, I gave you my key
They bumped hips in time to the music, Rebecca’s arm over his shoulder and a shared microphone between them. Around the room, the team loved every second.
Woo hoo
Nobody knows it
But when I was down
I was your clown
Woo hoo
Nobody knows it
Right from the start
I gave you my heart
Oh-oh
I give you my heart
Rebecca pointed at Ted, singing every word to him. He joined in, laughing and spinning her around. Jamie watched curiously,
"Ey, are they together or what?" He nudged Roy.
"Fuck if I know."
"I mean, they look like they're together. They act like it. Do ya reckon they've fucked?"
"Course they have." Despite having asked the question, Jamie still nearly fell off his chair in shock.
"Fuck offffffff! How'd you know?"
"Cos I fuckin' know."
"Keeley told ya dint she?"
"No, she wouldn't tell me anything. I guessed. And I had to go back to our room at Beard's wedding so I overheard them. Scarred me for life."
"Obviously dint scar ya that much, me an Keeley had a great night." He teased. "I can't believe it. I mean, I can, it's just weird to think about."
"Too weird to think about?"
"Too fuckin weird."
"What's weird?" Keeley asked, squeezing between them.
"Ted and Rebecca fucking."
"That's not weird. That would literally be the hottest thing in the world. I'd combust."
"Hang on, hang on, you've got us… but you wanna watch that?" Jamie asked, affronted. Keeley nodded her head,
"Duhhh! Anyway, it's nearly midnight so get ready for a snog boys!" Sam managed to wrestle the microphone from Beard and gave them a two minute heads up. He switched the speakers to the radio for the countdown and went back to drag Simi away from the bar where she was lining up row after row of shots. Ted returned to Rebecca after catching up with Nate for a while.
"So, boss-"
"Not your boss, Ted."
"If you say so. Who ya kissing at midnight? Keeley Jones-Kent? Beardo the Weirdo?"
"You?"
"Me? You sure about that?"
"I'm not fully convinced, but I don't exactly have long left to find an alternative." Ted turned to face her.
"You want an alternative? How 'bout Dani?"
"Hmm. Both girlfriends are here."
"Jan?"
"You?" She suggested again, an exasperated smile forming.
"Back to me again, huh? Wow you're really limited on options." In the background, the team were counting down.
"Oh, I think you might be the best option." She leaned in towards him,
Six, five, -
"In fact, you're the only option."
Four, three, two, -
She hesitated briefly halfway to a kiss, but of course, he met her in the middle.
One! Happy New Year!
The noise of their family around them faded into the background as Ted's hand cupped the back of her head and his fingers tangled into her hair. He pulled her closer, sliding along the bench to bridge the gap between them.
"Happy New Year, Becca." He whispered, resting his forehead against hers.
"Happy New Year." She went to lean back in to kiss him again, "Will you come back with me tonight?"
"Sure will, sweetheart, if that's what you want?"
~~~~~~~
The party quickly began to fade with the new year coming in. Colin and Michael left to try and get some rest before the next day. With Leslie, Julie, Trent and the other older members of the group heading out, Rebecca and Ted decided to join them. They all jumped into a selection of waiting Ubers, calling out goodnight, blowing kisses and looking forward to the wedding. No one said a word when Ted got into Rebecca’s cab. She leaned against him in the back seat, her hand on his thigh and his hand tracing patterns down her arm. At her house, he helped her out of her coat and followed her upstairs where he unzipped her dress. She sat on the edge of the bed while he removed her high heels, a hand stroking up her calf. She pulled the dress up and over her head, leaving her in the lingerie set she told him she brought with him in mind. He sat back on his heels with a smile.
"You look beautiful."
"Thank you," she said shyly. "I missed you." She reached out for him. "I've had enough of quick, stolen moments."
"Tell me what you need, baby?"
"I need you to make love to me, Ted." He stood up to remove his clothes while she watched. He blushed, but she pulled him towards her by the waistband of his boxers and kissed a line from one hip to the other. She palmed the hard line in his boxers but he gripped her wrist before she could touch him any more. He pushed her gently back onto the bed, still holding her wrists, and raised them above her head.
"Keep those hands right there for me, honey." He muttered against her skin, then he kissed a hot path down her body, his mustache scratching against her stomach and hips. "I just realised the most terrible thing." He said, pulling her lace knickers down. He pulled her thighs apart and dragged her down to the edge of the bed. "I haven't gone down on you since the first time."
"That can't be true." She whined as he licked through her folds. He stopped to reply, making her moan with the loss of contact.
"Sure is baby, it's been more than a year of quick, stolen moments, remember?" Before she could reply again, his mouth was on her clit and he was pumping two fingers inside her. He had her on the edge almost immediately, knowing exactly where and how she needed him. She came hard, her hands still above her head but frantically gripping the sheets. He didn't let up as she came, he continued to suck and tease her until her thighs clenched around him again. Unable to touch him with her hands, she ground her hips against his mouth, desperate for more contact, more of him. He took his time so he could really see her fall apart, he'd missed being able to drag it out for her - they’d had such little time together. When he released her clit with a pop, she moved her legs and reached to pull him up the bed. "Where d'ya want me, sweetheart?" He asked, hands coveting her body, biting a nipple through her bra.
"Sit up." He did as she asked, back against the headboard. She straddled his lap and wasted no time in sinking down onto him.
"Hmm, thought we were taking our time?" He asked, grunting into her collarbone as she settled. She stopped moving,
"Maybe you were. Shall I go slow?" She teased, bringing his face up to her. She ground her hips so slowly, it was like she'd barely moved at all. They both groaned deeply. She fucked him slowly, languidly, rising and falling onto his cock at an agonising pace. The friction against her clit was exquisite each time she rolled her hips. The tension built until they were both mumbling each other's names and little else. Rebecca captured Ted’s mouth in a filthy kiss, sending them both over the edge as he gripped her hips tightly while he spilled inside her. He held her against him as they caught their breath.
"Fuck, Becca. I love you." They fell asleep together quickly, knowing that for the first time in over a year, they'd also wake up together. Their morning together reminded Rebecca of the morning after their first time - right before Ted had left. Before Matthijs, before Marie. She woke to him spooned around her, hands roaming her body. He pulled her leg back to hook over the back of his knee and open her up to him. His hand snaked across her waist, dipped to guide himself into her and then rolled around her clit until she reached behind her to pull him into a messy kiss. Then in the shower, he’d gotten to his knees while she was trying to wash her hair. In the kitchen, bent over her kitchen table, just as he’d dreamed about. And then finally, on the stairs before they left for the wedding.
~~~~~~~~
Rebecca watched Colin fiddle with his tie again. The young Welshman looked more nervous than she had ever seen. She couldn't hold herself still any longer. She passed Ted her bag and brushed past him. It was only a few steps to the front of the room where she took his hands away from his tie and held them gently. Ted watched her smile at the young man, she talked quietly to him as she released his hands, unknotted and retied the tie. She kissed his cheek, also turned to Isaac alongside him, and held his hand for a second before popping back to her seat.
"Soccer mom." Ted teased.
"Fuck you."
"Please do. That was very sweet, is he OK?"
"Have you not had enough of me since midnight?" she asked, eyebrows raised. "He's nervous. He'll be fine. The very public declarations of love are the hardest part." Michael appeared in the doorway, appearing far calmer than Colin.
"There's no such thing as enough of you." He whispered. Once again, Rebecca cried during the ceremony while Ted supplied tissues and held her hand. Once the ceremony was over, the attendees headed toward the bar. Colinand Michael had chosen a lovely boutique hotel in central London for their venue, both families had descended en masse along with seemingly all of Richmond.
“Someone had a good night.” Keeley said to Rebecca while Ted was at the bar with Roy and Jamie.
“Are we talking about you guys? Because, I would probably pay to watch that.”
“Aww babe! I’d let you watch for free. I meant you though.”
“You’re too kind.”
“You’re glowing. The kind of glow that only comes from about 5 orgasms.”
“Pretty sure it was more like 7 or 8.” Rebecca muttered.
“Fuck me!”
“I’m a bit tired actually, can we reschedule?”
“I’m not surprised you’re tired! How are you still standing?!” Keeley asked gleefully.
“No idea. Gin and the promise of more?”
“Yeah that’d probably keep me going too. So are you… together? Giving it a go?” Ted was on his way over with Roy and the drinks.
“No idea, haven’t talked yet. Mostly just fucked.” Rebecca managed to admit just before they were in earshot.
“Hi Ted!” Keeley greeted him with a knowing grin. “Get back to Mae’s ok last night?” She asked innocently.
“Hey Keels,” he kissed her cheek, “did you guys have a good night? I stayed at Rebecca’s last night, shared a cab y’know. New Year's Eve, crazy Uber prices and all that.”
“Hmm yeah. I mean, it’s not like you’re both filthy rich or anything. Who needs to spend an extra 30 quid on a taxi, that would just be reckless.” She raised an eyebrow. Rebecca cleared her throat.
“Excuse me, I’m just going to the ladies. Keeley?”
“Nope, I’m good right here thanks babe.” Rebecca hesitated,
“Sure?”
“Yep, off you pop.”
“What is it with you two and off you pop?” Ted questioned as Rebecca disappeared from view.
“I’m asking the questions here, pal.” Keeley spun to face him. “What’s going on?” Ted had a caught in the headlights look about him.
“I… don’t know?” Roy stood behind Keeley shaking his head.
“Wrong answer. You’re in for it now.”
“Wrong answer. You’ve got this whole perfect boyfriend vibe going on since you arrived yesterday, loving on her like you two haven’t been torturing each other for over a year. And she told me about last night. Or this morning. Whichever, whatever.”
“Keeley, I-”
“I want to make sure that you’re not going to hurt her. You have no idea how brightly she shines when you’re around - those little infrequent visits and the hot, sneaky sex and then you bugger off back to Kansas and it’s like she’s not sure of herself.”
“She always shines.”
“She does, yes. But when you’re here it’s… honestly it’s something else. And maybe you don’t see it, but when you’re not here there’s a piece missing.”
“Let me guess, the lemon in the gin? The salt in the tequila?”
“Yes! See - you do get it!”
“Beard said something similar. So did Becca, actually. But they were referring to…” he gestured around the room, the team. “All of this. Everyone.”
“It is everyone, don’t get me wrong. But we all have something, someone. I’ve got Roy and Jamie, Leslie’s got Julie, the team are the team. We all pulled each other along when you first left and we got by, but you just don’t see how much harder it is for her. Going home alone every night? She’s the only one with no one.” Ted looked down into his whiskey. “I, we,” she looked around the room, “care too much for her for her to be alone. We care too much for you too.”
“I’ll bear that in mind. Thanks Keeley.”
“I love you , Ted.”
“I love you too, hon. You’re the best.” He put an arm around her.
“Don’t fuckin’ tell her that, she’ll get a big head.” Roy groaned. “She’s already got enough people under her thumb.”
“Including you, baby!” Keeley replied with a wink and a finger gun.
“Oh god, are we telling Keeley how great she is again?” Rebecca rejoined them.
“I’m the best, apparently.” The younger woman beamed.
“Yes you are, darling. I certainly can’t live without you.” The party soon got into full swing, despite hangovers from the previous night. With Keeley’s comments echoing in his mind, Ted focused on Rebecca. Slow dancing with her, joining her with the team and staying by her side. No one questioned it, no one asked what they were to each other. He stayed at her house again that night. He made her a cup of brown water in the morning to take back up to her in bed, eager to get back to her.
“Goodness me! Ted, you nearly gave me a heart attack!”
“Mornin’ Deborah, nice to see you again.”
“Good morning. Nice to see you’re wearing clothes.”
“Yeah well, Rebecca warned me you have a habit of dropping by unannounced. I’ll go and get her.” They spent the day together, went out for dinner with the coaches, their partners, Leslie, Julie and Trent. Rebecca could almost believe that it was real, that this was their life together. She watched as he packed up the small suitcase he’d retrieved from Mae’s after apologising to her for not once sleeping in the bed he’d paid for. She sat cross-legged in the center of the bed wearing one of his coaching t-shirts. He’d found the drawer full and she’d had to come clean about why she had them.
~~~~~~~~~
The following morning, he left her with a kiss at the front door to go to the airport. She managed to wait all of 20 minutes before she was hurriedly dressing and following him out of the door. Habit again saw her purchasing another first class ticket.
“Well this feels a lot like deja vu.” He said, stepping away from the ticket desk. “Another first class ticket? Where for this time?”
“I need to say something.” She replied nervously. “I didn’t say it last time, I was too scared. But I can’t let you leave again without saying it. We’ve both ruined potential new relationships because we can’t seem to let go of whatever this is. I need you to know that I love you, Ted. I love you more than anything in the world and I’d do anything if you’d stay. I want-” her voice broke over her tears as she voiced everything she hadn’t said previously. “I want you to come back to me. I want you to come back for me. If it means I spend half a year in Kansas with you, I’d do it. Whatever it takes, I need you to know that I’ll be all in, just say the word. But we can’t keep doing whatever this is. I love you too much to keep stringing this along. I love Henry too much to take you away from him. So we either find a way, or we don’t.” He stepped forwards to hold her as she cried in his arms again.
Last call for passengers to Paris, France.
“Let me… let me think. Let me talk to Michelle and Henry. God, sweetheart I’d give anything to be selfish right now, but I can’t. I love you, Rebecca. I’ll love you forever, but I need to figure this out first.” She nodded through her tears, her fingers holding onto his until the last moment as he stepped through the gate to his waiting flight.

Ted Lasso predictions
Ok so I was gonna write this before season 3 started, but then the internet lied to me about exactly WHEN that would be, so now episode 1 is out, and I haven't written it, so I am showing SOME INCREDIBLY RESTRAINT in writing this now, before I watch.
I have a bajillion thoughts, and I want to write them down so I can go either "I told you so" or "wow I was way off base", depending.
Okay let's go.
The biggest question I struggle the most with is whether Ted/Rebecca will be a thing.
The show has consistently built them up as soulmates, showing us the connection between the two. I could point to a million moments of foreshadowing. Jason has called them soulmates. But will that be romantic? I would honestly love it either way. I'd love to see the two of them romantically together, but I'd also love for some a big influential show to keep them platonic and show that that's how they are.
What I do know more or less for sure, is that come 1/3 into episode 11, there will be some big revelation between Rebecca and Ted, in Ted's office. This one has been foreshadowed SO heavily.
And it just seems like they both have had all of the character development to be ready to be together. Rebecca saying she needs to let herself be loved by someone wonderful - but she wasn't able to with Sam so now she's still trying to figure out why. And Ted of course dealing with his emotions and his problems, making him a much healthier partner to be with.
The main thing that stops me from thinking it'll be a thing is that I don't think Ted will stay in London. He needs to go back to Henry.
I already thought that, but couldn't necessarily point to something big, but then Brendan mentioned in an interview something about how Beard has immersed himself in local culture, while Ted hasn't. Which yeah - he's barely changed a single thing in his apartment, or his clothing style, while Beard clearly has. Ted isn't making a long-time home, it's like he's living in a motel.
Also references to Wizard of Oz and the red shoes. "There's no place like home." to mirror "I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore" in the pilot. (Rebecca is shown with the red shoes. Does that mean she'll come with Ted?)
Nate saying "back to Kansas, where you belong, with your son" and it clearly hits Ted. The phone call where Henry forgot his lunch, and Ted looked devastated to be ocean away. Whatever happens, Ted needs to be with his son, he needs to be a better dad than his own dad was.
I think/hope we'll see Ted's mom. There's only minor things that have told me that might be happening, but nonetheless. Ted making a point of "and my mom" whenever he talked about his dad's suicide. Ted saying "I love meeting people's moms." And there's some filming pics that shows an older lady with him, with a suitcase.
As for Roy/Keeley, I feel like they're gonna break up. There's a lot of build-up to it. The issues between them. Ms Bowen. Jamie still being in love with her. The question is whether it's gonna be forever or not. I have a vague feeling they're the kind of people who come into each other's lives to make each other better - that they're transitional. They both very much needed to date someone like the other one. But that doesn't mean they're destined to be together forever. Could go either way though. We'll see.
And it depends on what they decide to do with Jamie, which I actually don't necessarily have any predictions for. I've loved seeing his himbo development. And I find it deeply interesting how much Ted thinks about him, how he seems to feature in Ted's panic attacks.
And what are they gonna do about Nate? Well, obviously Ted isn't giving up on him. I've read a lovely post about how it's not going to be one big redemption, and I agree. I think Nate has to crawl himself out of the hole he's dug himself (emotionally), and I hope he does that. I hope it takes effort, but I hope he makes it. Whatever his flaws, he does deserve happiness, and deserves a chance to be a better person.
I also think the show is finally gonna dig into homophobia in football. AT LEAST I PRAY. I've been wanting this for so long, and obviously the show is pro-queerness.
So, how? Trent Crimm doing something more meaningful. He's heavily implied to be gay (based on that one pub scene), and he cares about sports, and he cares about major issues. (Everyone and their mum has predicted he'll write a book about the team or about Ted.)
There's also Colin, implied slightly subtler to be gay. ("Like Grindr.") Plus on red carpet a week ago, his actor implied love would be in his future, and he also said something about getting a storyline you can sink your teeth into, and about Colin living his best life. I already thought this might be a thing, but the interview kind of confirmed it.
What about Dr Sharon? Not sure what role she has to play, if it's important or not. Is she involved in the whole gay thing? Does she go work for Rupert? Who knows trtbh.
Also apparently we're getting a new player called Zava, who Dani adores. How will this play? No idea but I'm excited to see.
Sam? Well, he's got the restaurant plot. Making a safe space for his team, because that's what he needed when he got there. It kind of sounds like that's his main plot this season. (I don't think him and Rebecca are getting back together.) Is the restaurant called "Ola's"? That's supposedly the name of an episode, and it's a Nigerian name, so.
There's a new character named Jack. She's described as a charming venture capitalist, so I assume she wants to work with Keeley. The fact she's charming and played by a queer actress makes me think Keeley is gonna dip her toes back into the lady pool, or at least be tempted to.
OH!! And for the love of god, please give us a fucking musical episode. Almost everyone in this show can sing, for fuck's sake.
Uhhhh I think that's it. I can't think of anything more off the top of my head, or looking at the character list and such.
SO NOW I'M GONNA GO WATCH THE FUCKING EPISODE.

The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthropology
Day 6: But Daddy I love Him
Hey Swifties! Let's dive deep into Taylor Swift's latest lyrics and unravel the layers of meaning behind her captivating words. Taylor, our beloved Chairman of The Tortured Poets Department, always knows how to strike a chord with her fans, and this time is no different!
Taylor's reference to this classic film epic gives us a glimpse into her journey through fame and relationships. Just like in the movies, Taylor navigates the Wild West of love and fame with courage and resilience. It's like watching Travis Kelce lead the Kansas City Chiefs to victory while Taylor cheers from the sidelines, experiencing her own victories and defeats in the game of love.
Taylor doesn't hold back when it comes to calling out society's double standards. From "Nothing New" to this latest track, she's been vocal about the unfair scrutiny women face in relationships. It's like she's saying, "Girls, go out and have your fun, but don't be surprised when they hunt you down for actually doing it." It's a powerful message that resonates with Swifties everywhere, challenging us to break free from societal expectations and embrace our true selves.
The mention of "Daddy" in the lyrics hints at Taylor's defiance against parental or authoritative advice. As Swifties, we've seen her rebel against the powers that be, whether it's her dad's warnings or the media's judgment. But just like in her songs, Taylor always stands her ground and follows her heart, no matter the consequences.
Taylor has a knack for weaving timeless tales into her lyrics, adding depth and meaning to her music. From "Romeo and Juliet" to "The Little Mermaid," she draws inspiration from classic literature and fairy tales to tell her own story of love and rebellion. It's like she's inviting us into a magical world where anything is possible, and love conquers all.
As Swifties, we know that our love for Taylor runs deep. But sometimes, our passion can veer into criticism, and Taylor isn't afraid to call us out on it. By likening us to "vipers dressed in empath's clothing," she reminds us to support her unconditionally, even when we don't agree with her choices. It's a humbling reminder that our idol is human too, and she deserves our unwavering support.
Despite the pressures of fame and fan scrutiny, Taylor celebrates her autonomy and agency in choosing her own path. It's like she's saying, "I'll follow my heart, even if it leads me down a rocky road." And as Swifties, we're right there beside her, cheering her on every step of the way.
In conclusion, Taylor Swift's lyrics are a masterclass in storytelling, blending personal experiences with universal themes of love, rebellion, and self-discovery. As Swifties, we're lucky to have her as our Chairman, guiding us through life's ups and downs with her music. Here's to many more lyrical adventures with our fearless leader!

I have had Shower Thoughts (tm) so I am now ready to write about why the ted lasso ending is actually ANTI romcommunism (mostly in relation to ted, beard, and rebecca’s endings). I do want to preface this by saying that as an aromantic who doesn’t watch a lot of movies I haven’t seen many romcoms so perhaps I’m not the most qualified for this but here goes.
Gonna start out by saying that a while ago I saw someone (I don’t remember who, if anyone does that would be great) say that the reason beard after hours is a different genre than the rest of the show is because that’s how beard sees the world. By extension this means that ted lasso the show is framed as a romcom because that’s how ted views the world. The events of the ending don’t fit a romcom plot, but ted tries to make it one anyway in his outlook which is why the ending feels so off. I think the ending also shows some ways this outlook is actually harmful to ted.
First of all, ted the titular character does not get a romcom ending. He doesn’t end up with the female lead and in fact he doesn’t end up with anyone romantically. He may or may not be happy in kansas with henry, but either way he doesn’t get a romcom style happy ending. He’s still trying for it at the last minute by calling rebecca’s goodbye a “leave cute.” It makes me wonder whether he was counting on rebecca to come with him to complete his romcom ending. But you can’t count on others to follow a plot where you’re the main character, and in many ways he ends up back where he was at the beginning of the show, both physically and emotionally. He’s made new connections and worked on his health, but he leaves those connections behind and instead of replacing his mask of cheer and comedy with real emotion, he is oddly unexpressive the entire episode as many others have pointed out. Because this is the end of a chapter of his life, ted tries to convince himself that this is a happy ending and he isn’t still in his dark forest. However, many have said and I agree that he doesn’t look especially happy in the final shot. It looks forced. Life doesn’t have endings where everything turns out right the way movies do. We will always have struggles and ted needs to realize that a perfect happy ending isn’t possible in real life before he can be as happy as possible.
Rebecca’s ending subverts romcommunism in the opposite way. She does end up with someone in what will presumably be a happy relationship, but it’s seemingly out of nowhere. Romcoms do rely on chance meetings, but both of them seemed relatively happy to leave their encounter as is after one night on the boat. They didn’t pursue each other the way romcom couples do. This is also just the beginning of their relationship, not a happy ending. It’s ambiguous if they’ll even get together romantically at all (although it’s implied they will).
The show teased tedbecca a lot, but I’d argue that was because of ted’s influence on the narrative. It’s the same reason there are so many hints of tedtrent from trent as a character but less from the narrative itself, where as a lot of the tedbecca hints come from framing rather than rebecca herself. (not that there isn’t evidence for both these relationships from both narrative framing and character actions). In my opinion both tedtrent and tedbecca are unrequited. The beginning of the episode is set up the way it is because ted thinks of it as a possibility for him and rebecca to get together. Trent doesn’t get closure in his relationship with ted because ted sees a career related happy ending as more important for trent.
I’d argue though (maybe because I’m a beard fan) that the biggest place his romcommunist mindset fails ted is with beard. Because he thinks beard deserves a romcom ending, and right now he’s in a relationship with jane who he says he’s in love with, ted thinks beard should get a romcom ending with jane. Fleeing a plane at the last minute to get married to the love of your life is pretty romcom. Except for this couple there can be no happy ending. Ted chalks up jane’s abuse to genuine romance because that’s what he wants to see. Part of the problem here is also the importance placed on romantic over platonic relationships that leads ted to believe a romantic relationship should be prioritized over he and beard’s friendship. He overlooks his relationship with beard and the trouble in beard’s relationship for romcommunism and this leaves beard in a disastrous place.
This leads me to the ending dream sequence. Beard and jane’s wedding is probably the most romantic scene in the episode. It’s extremely painful to watch knowing what their relationship is like, but this is ted trying to create a romcom ending for his best friend. His attempt at an ending for roy, jamie, and keeley also doesn’t work because they’re still very much in the middle of their story together, and because romcoms don’t usually allow space for polyamory. In my opinion, the dream sequence is ted’s attempt at creating endings where they don’t exist and trying to give his friends an ending he thinks will make them happy, while often overlooking what they really need. For example, sam has always said he wants to join the nigerian national team and this is an easy goal for ted to understand, and an easy ending for ted to give him instead of dealing with the more complicated realities of sam’s life. Something similar goes for nate. Nate’s life is too complicated for ted to resolve so he glosses over it. This is also why trent gets his particular ending, because ted thinks what he loves is writing. I think there has definitely been disregard and mishandling this season of stories about race and sexuality and of minority characters’ stories in general which is probably because of the writers’ biases but within the story this could be framed as because of ted’s biases. He thinks the team helping sam clean up his restaurant is a happy ending because he doesn’t understand sam’s experience.
Another theme of the whole season is fate, with the fortune teller and the red string of fate motif. The show discredits both these though by calling the fortune teller a fraud and mocking the red string of fate in the training drill. In romcoms, the main couple are “fated to be together,” but this doesn’t seem true for any couple in ted lasso. It could be argued for boatbecca, but their meeting is more random chance than fate, and even if it could be considered fate it certainly doesn’t fit comfortably in the story the show is telling in the way fate does in a romcom. Beard and jane are shown with a literal red string around their hands at their wedding but the string seems more confining than anything here, calling back to the training exercise where the red strings actually hurt the people they were attached to when they strayed too far from their partner, the way jane does to beard.
So many of the characters don’t actually end up with anyone at the end of the show, which is actually one of the things I liked about the finale, but it’s certainly not a romcom ending. Almost everyone’s story feels incomplete and unhappy in some way. I don’t think this was intentional but it’s a good demonstration of the impossibility of true happy endings in real life.
I feel like the main message of that ted lasso ending ended up being that romcommunism isn't real. Perhaps I will elaborate later . . .

A.N: this is a bad bio but idk how else to put it. it’s a baby fic! I wouldn’t say this is enemies to lovers but they certainly don’t like each other at first so it kinda is. comment on this chap or message to be on the taglist. much love, Cia
Prologue: A Powerpoint, Really?
If you had told 16 year old Y/N that she’d be working at the FBI, she would’ve called you batshit.
Not only, did you not have any respect for authority or any inclination for rules in that matter, working for the FBI was never in the forefront of your mind. But when given the option of Jail or a full time job with benefits, it was fairly easy to make a choice. You remember the first day when you met your work partner and now best friend Penelope Garcia or specifically the day she caught you.
You were waiting tables like you did every weekend to stay afloat. Today was unreasonably slow so you were just finding small things to do. That’s when she came in, an extremely brightly dressed woman, sat at the bar of the diner.
“Hi, how can I help you?” You smile at the woman who looks up at you and smiles.
“Yes, I’m looking for the Emerald City.” She says, smirking at you. Your face drops, you knew what she was talking about.
When you started hacking it was only supposed to be a one time thing. You grew up poor, spent most of your life poor so when you saw your childhood home was set to be demolished to build a fancy new headquarters for Scotty Realins, an upcoming asshole tech CEO, without a cent going to your parents. Something in you snapped. You had already been pretty decent at code and you flirted with a couple of guys in your STEM classes to learn how to hack so you would say you were pretty good at this point. So you hacked into the website and made sure all the Revenue for that day actually was wired to lower-income housing. At the end of the day, it was only a couple hundred thousand dollars but what was pennies to Scotty Realins changed some people's lives.
So you started doing it more, to different companies under the pseudonym OZ. The money always went to different places that needed it whether it was paying the rent for a bunch of families or anonymous large donations to food banks or soup kitchens. You gained a bit of fame in the hacker community as a modern day Robin Hood.
All good things come to an end though. And the end was standing in front of you in clunky, rainbow colored jewelry.
“You don’t look like a cop.” you say, crossing your arms.
“I’ll do you one better.” She says, pulling her FBI badge out, showing it to you briefly. You curse under your breath. “I’ve been following you for a while, OZ. Though I wasn’t expecting the man behind the curtain to be a woman. I will say, having my computers route back to a loop of “We’re not in Kansas anymore.” everytime I tried to track your IP was impressive. I couldn’t even be mad about it.”
“Clearly not that impressive because you found me.”
“Still took me longer than usual, which is saying a lot.”
“This is a really long winded conversation if you’re just here to arrest me.” You say, taking off your apron. No use in keeping it on if you were going to be in handcuffs soon.
“That’s because I’m not here to arrest you. I’m here to offer you a job, to work under me as a Tech Analyst in the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI.” Penelope says.
“And if I don’t want to?”
“Then you’re going to want a lawyer and my very good handsome friend outside is going to arrest you. You’re smart and you have a chance to help people which is why you started hacking in the first place, right? Please don’t make me do that.” She looked at you pleadingly like she really cared and didn’t want you to go to prison. You didn’t say anything but something told you she’d been in the same boat as you before.
“Hmmm…. I’m tired of waiting tables anyway.”
So you uprooted your life and moved from Philadelphia to Quantico. Garcia took you under her wing and pretty soon the two of you functioned in her batcave like a well oiled machine. You could do without the constant gore that filled your screens but at the end of the day, you loved what you were doing and you wouldn’t change that for the world.
The team was an added bonus, it was nice to have your own little found family. Garcia, of course, taking on the role as best friend mere days after your first meeting. You met Derek Morgan right after you agreed to take the job, he’d been there to arrest you and was very glad he wouldn’t have to do that. He told you often about how you reminded him of his sister and he regarded you in the role of younger sister from that day on. The next person you met had been Aaron Hotchner, your new boss. It took him a couple of weeks to warm up to you, you guessed he had a difficulty trusting new people and when he would call you guys for information he would always ask for Garcia instantly instead of you, not very trusting in your skills yet. Though that changed when you had been the one to track down the Unsub once.
Rossi was easily won over when you told him about your Italian side of the family, specifically your grandmother who loved to cook and left you a lot of recipes. You and him often went back and forth in sharing dishes. Emily and JJ had also been easily won over with one bottle of tequila and a regrettable girls night.
Then there was Dr. Spencer Reid.
You had a lot of opinions on Dr. Reid, most of them weren’t good. It wasn’t like you hated him in fact, you’d consider him a friend but the two of you seemed to butt heads on well, everything. Both of you needing to be the smartest in the room and neither of you wanting to admit when you’re wrong will do that though. You still respected Spencer though, he was an extreme asset to the team and he was your best friend’s other best friend so you couldn’t really hate the guy.
You also didn’t have to like him.
So you had a good job, good friends, a nice house to live in. You were finally happy, content even. So why did it feel like something was missing?
The something missing came in a stroller pushed by JJ the next week.
The last case had been rough. Really rough. So while the team was on their way back you and Garcia hatched a plan for JJ to come visit from maternity leave and surprise everyone with the baby. While you guys were waiting for them to land, Garcia wanted to show JJ something she had gotten her godson so JJ asked if you could watch him and feed him until she got back, which you obviously agreed to. As you were feeding the child his bottle, and his ravioli sized fist wrapped around your finger you realized what had been missing.
Fuck, you wanted a kid.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
You told Garcia first, it slipped when she noticed how off you were being. You wanted to have a kid bad now and you knew you didn’t want to wait. Penny tried to convince you that you’d “find the right person” but let’s face it, with this job, long term relationships were few and far inbetween. Plus you didn’t need a man, you had a good job and insurance, you knew you could provide a child with a life full of love it deserved. So you made an appointment at a fertility clinic. As the doctor was talking to you about your options, you felt yourself feeling more and more down about your decision and that only increased as you looked in the book of sperm donors in front of you. You looked at too many serial killers daily that it made you uneasy, carrying a stranger's baby. Maybe Garcia was right and your best bet was to wait for ‘the right guy.’ Even though you really didn’t want to.
You walked into work later, a little sullen. Heading immediately towards the coffee machine. Penelope, who had been at Derek’s desk, makes a beeline towards you.
“So how’d it go?” She says, smiling. “Did you make an appointment to be baby-fied?”
You sigh. “I couldn’t do it, Pen.” You say, frowning. “I just-- We see so much here that I don’t want to accidentally end up with a sociopath’s baby because I couldn’t wait.”
“But you don’t want to wait, do you?” She says softly, empathizing with you.
“No, I don’t.” You sigh again, finishing making your cup before walking back out into the bullpen. JJ had brought Henry again for the others to see on the slow paperwork day. You tried not to look bitter but it was like she was flaunting the one thing you couldn’t have, even if it was unintentional. You watched as she handed the baby to Spencer, who instantly smiled and made faces at the laughing baby.
“Spencer is actually a surprisingly good godfather.” Garcia says, smiling at the exchange in front of you. “Kinda makes you wonder what he’d be like with his own baby geniuses.” She says before walking over to the group and scooping her godson out of Spencer’s arms, Spencer still held on to his fist with his pinky, smiling down at the child.
“Yea…” You say, to no one in particular.
You had an idea. A probably bad one.
-------------------------------------------------------
You were sitting in the coffee shop, nervously fiddling on your laptop while waiting for Spencer. You were surprised he even agreed to meet with you for coffee though you were sure he was just doing it out of curiosity because you told him you had something important to talk about. You weren’t even sure if you were going about this the right way. Hey Spencer, I know we’re not even friends but how would you feel about fathering my child? God, this was going to be terrible.
You looked up when you heard the tell-tale bell on the door indicating someone walking in. Spencer gave you a small wave before going to the counter to get a coffee. You took that time to nervously sip yours. Your heart was beating a mile a minute, it was now or never.
“Hey.” Spencer says, when he finally gets to the table, coffee in hand. “Why are you all the way in the corner?”
“This isn’t really a conversation I want overheard.”
Spencer tilts his head confused at that. “So what is the conversation we’re supposed to be having. I asked Garcia but she seemed to also have no idea.”
“Yea, I didn’t tell her on account of this maybe going extremely bad.” You say, before sighing and turning your laptop around so Spencer could see the Powerpoint screen you have on it. When he reads it, he chokes on his coffee.
“A Powerpoint, really?” He chokes, still coughing around the coffee. “Y/N, what is this?”
“This is Reasons Why You Should Make a Baby With me.”
“Yea, I got that from the title, Y/N.” He says, still shocked. “Is this a joke?!”
“I wish it was, Reid.”
“Can I at least ask why you thought a Powerpoint was the best way to ask?”
“Because I felt you’d be more inclined to consider it if you knew I spent time on a presentation.”
“That’s true.” He leans back, taking a sip of his coffee, gesturing for you to continue. You hit the next slide.
“Ok, reason number one is we both want kids.” You say, looking at him. “Garcia told me the other day that you were talking about how much you wanted a kid and I also want a kid.”
“I did tell Garcia that.” He muses.
“Reason two, an offspring between us would probably result in another genius. As you know, you are smart.”
“Yes.”
“And I am smarter.” You say, Spencer opens his mouth to protest but you keep talking. “A child between us could probably be the next Einstein.”
Spencer nods and you continue. “Reason three, I’d be a great mom.”
“That’s a debatable fact.”
“No, it’s not. You’ve seen me around kids, have I ever given an inclination that I wouldn’t be?” You ask, he shakes his head. “Plus, I happen to think you’d be a great father. Which brings me to Reason 4.” You say clicking through the next slide. “If you don’t want to be involved in raising that’s fine. I’m perfectly fine raising the child myself an--”
“What?! No!” Spencer says, sitting up. “If I do agree to have this baby, which I’m not completely doing yet. I want to be involved, I want them to know I’m their father and that I didn’t abandon them because I know what that’s like.” He says, seriously. You nod, already knowing this about Spencer.
“Reason 5: I’d be the perfect platonic co-parent, I won’t ask you for anything unless it’s pertaining to the child and if you decide that later down the road you want your own family, I’d be supportive and help you along the way.”
Spencer nods. “We’re never home enough for a baby.”
“That’s where you’re wrong because I’ll be here. I mainly stay here anyway and if there’s ever a case where you need a tech analyst to fly out, Garcia’s already agreed to have it already be her when I floated the baby idea around last month.”
Spencer hummed, silent for a second. “You really want a kid, huh?”
“Yes.” You say.
“So much so you’re asking me?” Spencer says, matter-of-factly. “A Coworker you barely speak to?”
Well, when he says it like that.
“Yes. I’m asking because while we don’t get along the best you are still one of the most compassionate, understanding men I know. And I know that if I have to raise this kid with somebody, you would love them just as much as I would.” You say, Spencer nods at that. “So, please?”
Spencer sighs. “When’s your next appointment? At the fertility clinic?”
You didn’t even want to ask how he knew about that. “Next tuesday.”
He nods. “I’m going with you.” He says, standing, pulling the strap of his messenger bag over his shoulder. “This isn’t a yes.”
“It’s not a no, either.” You point out.
“No, it’s not.” He says, leaving you behind in the coffee shop with a huge grin on your face.

Inner Demons (Jack Kline x Reader)
Warnings: Angst, violence, self-loathing, mentions of death, smidge of fluff, small spoilers for 13x23
Pairings: Jack Kline x Reader
Characters: Reader, Jack, Sam, Dean, Castiel, Mary, Bobby.
Word Count: 2k
AU: Soulmates
Summary: When Jack runs away after accidentally hurting you, you run after him.
Requested by: @ivyyie
You sat in the bunker, chatting happily with the survivors of apocalypse world. You loved meeting new people, and this was no exception.
You were 22, and had been hunting since you were little. Your parents had known Sam and Dean, two of the greatest hunters of all time. So when they passed away, the Winchester's swore to look after you. Although, you had said repeatedly that you didn't need their help. That was a lie, of course; you loved living with them. They were like the older brothers you never had.
Dean came up to you, a grim look on his face. "C'mon, kiddo. We need your help with something."
· · ·
You stood underneath Mary's umbrella as you looked at the dead body of Maggie. You felt your heart break at the sight. She had been an awfully sweet girl, and you knew that Jack had been close friends with her. You squeezed his hand gently, trying to give him a little bit of comfort.
"I - I-" Jack mumbled, shaking his head. I said I'd protect her, and, Sam. . ."
"Stop, Jack." Sam interjected. "This isn't your fault.'
"Sammy's right." You agreed gently. "There's no way you could have stopped this."
"What happened to her?" Dean questioned.
"I don't know." Mary said with furrowed eyebrows. "Doesn't look supernatural"
"Looks like some son of a bitch beat on her until. . ." Bobby broke off, not being able to finish his sentence. You looked away from Maggie, seeing her like this was too hard for you.
"Who would do something like this?" Castiel growled
On the way back to the bunker, Jack was silent. You could tell he was blaming himself for what happened to Maggie. He was so angry.
"Jack." You whispered. "You can't blame yourself. There's sick people out in the world that aim to hurt people. Not just monsters are capable of killing someone like that."
"I promised that I would protect her." Jack insisted. "I promised that I would protect all of them. That they wouldn't have to worry about Michael and his army. And they come back here just to be killed? How is that fair, Y/n?"
"I never said it was fair, Jack. Nothing's fair. Good people die all the time, and the worst ones stick around for the longest time. It's infuriating, but that's just how it is."
"But why? I don't understand. Bad people are supposed to be punished." Jack's voice shook in anger.
"I used to say that when I was younger. I would ask my mom why that would happen, and she would say, 'When you're picking a flower, do you pick the beautiful one, or the one that's wilted?' Of course I would say the beautiful one. And she would reply with, 'That's how God works. He picks to most beautiful ones for his garden.'"
"Your mother sounds like a good woman." Jack noted.
"Yeah, she was." You nodded. "We're going to find out who did this to Maggie and make sure she finds justice." You assured Jack.
You decided to help Sam, Dean, Castiel and Jack interview people who were close with Maggie.
"Word is, you're friends with Maggie." Dean inquired as he entered the library.
"Um, yeah, since we came over." The girl said. You didn't have a chance to speak with her prior to this, so you had no clue what her name was. "Me and her, we didn't have anybody else, so we kinda stuck together."
"So I'm sure you know she went out last night." Sam raised an eyebrow at the girl. She nodded. "Well, she didn't come home."
"Um. . . Is Maggie in trouble?"
You looked down at your hands, not sure how to tell her what happened. Although, Cas seemed to be prepared.
"She's dead." He spoke up, rather nonchalantly. You smacked your palm against your forehead. Castiel could be really insensitive at times.
"She. . . No, that's not. . ." The girl was obviously in shock. Her only friend was dead. "We were supposed to be safe here."
"We need to know where Maggie went," Sam pushed. "Who she was talking to."
The girl shook her head. "I don't. . . There was a boy."
"What boy?" Jack demanded, looking up.
"Nate." She informed him. "He works at that store out on Route 281. Maggie, she had a crush. That's why she snuck out last night. She was going to meet him."
"All right." Dean grumbled, running a hand over his face. "Well, let's go talk to this boy, Jack-"
You all turned to see that Jack was now gone. "Shit." You mumbled, grabbing your jacket and bolting out the door.
You knew how Jack could get when he was upset or when someone he cared about was hurt. It never ended well.
You, Cas, Sam and Dean hopped into the Impala, driving like mad to the store that Nate worked at.
You were worried, not only for Nate, but for Jack as well. If this kid didn't murder Maggie, and Jack hurt him, it would kill Jack. Hurting innocent people was one of Jack's worst fears.
You were the first one out of the car, bolting inside the store. To your horror, Jack was holding Nate against the wall by his throat.
"Jack!" You exclaimed, running up to him. "Jack! Stop!" You put a hand on his shoulder, trying to get him to leave Nate alone.
Jack whipped around, his eyes glowing orange. The next thing you knew, you were sent flying back into a shelf.
You gave out a grown, holding your injured arm. "Y/n!" Dean called, running up to you. "Are you okay?" You nodded, very visibly in pain.
Jack continued his assault on Nate, refusing to let up.
"Jack?" Sam pleaded. "Let him go!"
"Alright," Dean muttered, pulling his gun out of his waistband. "Jack!" Three loud shots rang out, making you flinch. You slowly got to your feet with the help of Cas. The Nephilim dropped Nate and turned around, and as he did so,
Jack had a look of surprise on his face as he gazed at the four of you. "You. . . Shot me?"
"To get your attention!" Dean yelled. "You're acting like a psychopath!"
"Jack," You said, limping to him.
"He killed Maggie!" He growled.
"Maggie? Maggie's dead?" Nate whimpered.
"Jack, Nate didn't do it. Look at him." You whispered. "He's destroyed. He would have never hurt Maggie. Not in a million years."
"Y-you're hurt." Jack noted, looking at you. "I did that. I made you bleed."
"Jack, it's okay, you didn't kn-"
"I'm so sorry." He cried, running out the door.
"Jack!" Castiel called out.
Dean put a hand on his chest, stopping him from following after Jack. "No, hey, just – let him go."
"Yeah," You huffed. "Fat chance." You pushed past Dean and ran after the Nephilim.
You looked around, not seeing him anywhere. "C'mon, Jack." You mumbled. "Where are you?" You closed your eyes, taking a deep breath. You knew you could find him, you just had to use the bond that you shared.
You figured out a long time ago that Jack Kline was your soulmate. You felt what he was feeling, whether it be sad, happy, angry or confused. And all you could feel right now was self loathing. If you could just get a feel of where he is right now, then you would be able to find him.
There were trees surrounding him, and it all seemed oddly familiar. You knew the forests of Kansas like the back of your hand. You would often go exploring around there whenever you were bored and Sam and Dean were off on a hunt. You recognized the large oak tree that sat in the middle of a clearing. You knew exactly where Jack was.
You ran as fast as your hurt ankle would let you. It was probably just sprained, but it was going to hurt a hell of a lot worse when all of this was over.
As you approached the clearing, you could hear Jack talking to himself. He kept hitting his chest, as a way of hurting himself. Your heart broke as he continued talking.
"You keep hurting people!" He yelled. "You keep. . ." His voice cracked as he cried. "Hurting. . . Why do you keep hurting people?!"
"Jack?" You said timidly.
Jack turned around, clearly horrified to see that you followed him. "Y/n! D-don't come any closer. I don't want to hurt you!"
"You're not going to hurt me, Jack." You held your hands out, trying to show that you wouldn't harm him.
"I already have!" He pointed out, seeing your limp, your bruising wrist and your cut cheek. "I did that to you. You're in pain because of me."
"Jack, I'm a hunter. I've felt things ten times worse than this. I'm not in pain. I know you didn't mean to hurt me, you were just startled is all."
"But I almost killed Nate!" He yelled. "He was innocent. He never murdered Maggie and I almost -" He broke off into sobs. You came closer to him, gently putting a hand on his shoulder. He refused to look up. "I'm a monster. I'm just like him."
"Jack Kline." You said sternly, drawing his attention up to your face. "You are not a monster. Do you hear me?" He stayed silent. "And you aren't like Lucifer either."
"You don't know that." He whispered.
"Yes, I do. I've met Lucifer, and I've met you. Jack, you are the most compassionate person I know. You feel everyone's pain and you feel emotion on a completely different scale than other people. You brought those people from Apocalypse World here and gave them another chance. Lucifer wouldn't have done that. But you cared enough to do that." You cupped Jack's face in your hands. "You are good, Jack. Something that Lucifer's not. He will never have your compassion, and he will never know what it feels like to love and be loved."
You felt Jack's tears hit your fingers. You gently brushed them away. "It's okay." You assured him.
"But it's not." He insisted quietly. "I've hurt people, Y/n. People are dead because of me. What I've done is unforgivable."
"Jack, we've all made mistakes. And yes, some are worse than others, but we've all been where you are. Me, Sam, Dean, Cas, we all know what it's like. We are here for you, because we are your family."
"You haven't made a mistake where someone's gotten killed though." Jack took a hold of your hands and lowered them to your sides.
You swallowed hard. You had to tell him. That was the only way to get through to him. "Jack, when I was younger, I made a mistake. A mistake that got two people killed." Jack looked at you in surprised. "I was on a hunt with them, and I was supposed to be a lookout. I had been awake for days because I had been having nightmares and refused to sleep. So while I was supposed to warn them if I saw anything, I fell asleep and they were both killed by vampires." He stayed silent as you continued to talk. "They were my parents. I'm the reason they're dead." You were now crying. "We make mistakes Jack, and some of them get people killed. It's a fact of life and it's what happens when you're a hunter. I've made peace with my inner demons, and I can help you do that too. Just let me help, Jack."
"I'm sorry." Jack whimpered as you both continued to cry. "I'm so sorry."
You shook your head as you brought him in for a hug. "It's okay. It's all gonna be okay, I promise." You buried your head in his chest, breathing in his scent. "I love you."
Jack shifted slightly, making you look up at him. "You. . . Love me?" He questioned.
"Yes. I love you, Jack." You repeated yourself. "I love you like Dean loves Cas. I love you like you like Sam loved Eileen. I love you, Jack Kline."
Jack gave you a weak smile as he looked down at you. He hesitantly pressed his lips to yours, obviously unsure if what he was doing was right. Your mouth moved against his, your tears mingling together.
"I love you, Y/n Y/l/n." He mumbled against your mouth.
The two of you stood there, holding each other, completely content.

Dean stared at Lisa, his eyes glaring as his jaw clenched. He was waiting for her to say something about what he could clearly see on her phone. He had really hoped that making the effort was going to pay off, and that they could finally be happy again. He thought about how he had doubted her in the past, over a year ago, when she had gone back to Indiana for a couple of weeks. She came back completely disinterested in him and their relationship.
They had fought a lot about whether she had slept with someone else. She had denied it and he had chosen to believe her, even if he did have his doubts about it. Since then, is when things turned for the worst. He thought he had judged her too quickly. Maybe nothing had actually happened.
Turns out, he had been right all along.
Lisa shook her head, not being able to say anything. Dean could tell from her expression that she was trying to find a way to say something.
“I don’t know what to say-” she started but he cut her off.
“Don’t” he hissed, as he leaned in so no one would hear their conversation. “I’m only gonna ask this one more time, and you better give me a straight answer.”
When she didn’t say anything, he continued.
“Did you sleep with someone else?” he asked, bluntly. He had asked that very question a year before, when she got back from Indiana. He never got a proper answer from her.
Lisa was quiet as she sat across from him. She looked up at him, and he saw sadness in her eyes for the first time in a long time.
“Yes” she whispered.
He nodded as he stared at her. He huffed a laugh and it bubbled into a bitter tone. “Who’s the guy?”
She took another few moments to say anything. “His name’s Matt. He’s a doctor.”
“Oh, Doctor Matt. How respectable” he snapped.
She looked guilty as she dropped her head, avoiding his gaze. “I’m sorry you found out like this” she said, quietly, but Dean heard her.
“Why did you keep this going for another year? Why didn’t you just answer me when I asked? This could’ve all been over then, and we could’ve forgotten about each other” Dean asked, shaking his head.
“Because… Ben really looks up to you, and I wanted a father figure for him” she replied, as she looked up at him, her eyes glistening.
Dean shook his head, confused. “But what? Suddenly I’m not good enough? You want some doctor for him to look up to instead now?”
“Matt and I fell for each other years ago, but it didn’t go far, and then I was there last year… we started things up again, and when he was here in July-” she rambled, trying to explain but Dean cut her off when something occurred to him.
“He was here?” he asked, as he stared at her.
She only nodded.
“That’s why we stopped having sex.” He didn’t need to ask because it was obvious why.
An uncomfortable silence fell between them.
“So… when should we tell Ben?” she asked, quietly.
“I’m gonna leave that to you” he replied, shaking his head. “But when you decide to leave… you’re gonna let me say goodbye to him. You owe me that much.”
He looked at her as he waited for a reply. She nodded as she continued to stare at him.
“Dean-” she started but he cut her off.
“Save it” he growled; his jaw clenched. “It’s done.”
She nodded and didn’t say anything else, as Ben returned to the table unaware of what had just occurred.
As they went about like nothing had just happened, Dean couldn’t help but think that maybe he didn’t deserve to be angry. After all, he had kissed Y/N and it had made him feel awful for doing that to Lisa, despite the fact that he couldn’t stop thinking about his beautiful neighbor. So, did he have the right to be angry with Lisa when he had done that? He came to the conclusion pretty quickly. Yes, he did have the right. Lisa had lied to him for a year, she had slept around with that guy behind his back and didn’t seem to regret it at all. Her sadness came more from the fact that Dean had found out. It wasn’t “I’m sorry I did this to you” it was “I’m sorry you found out like this”.
So, yes. He did deserve to be angry and to be the one to end the relationship.
When they got back home, Lisa went into Ben’s room to break the news. Dean wasn’t sure what she told him, about whether or not she said she had met someone else or not. Quite frankly, he didn’t care. He kicked back on the couch with a beer, some re-runs of M.A.S.H. on the TV keeping him entertained. He heard some yelling from Ben and then a door slam, and then another one close a bit more gently. Dean would eventually go in and see how Ben was taking the news but for now… he was taking a moment for himself.
For the first time in a long, long time, he felt lighter. He felt better, and in a weird way, as much as it hurt to hear that Lisa had cheated on him, he was relieved. He finally got the answer to his question, and now… he could finally move on. He could concentrate on his business, be available to his family more, and just be himself without worrying what Lisa would say. All the constant fighting or ignoring each other and pretending to be civil was over. He had been down the road with her several times in the last couple of years, the road of things being fine and then not fine, but he was never going back to that again.
He was looking forward to living his life the way he wanted again.
Over the next week, Y/N and Mark texted back and forth. There were messages about their days, what they had for lunch or dinner, silly jokes and flirty comments. Y/N liked him enough, but she hoped that he did ask her out so that she could get to know him more.
Mark: I can’t beat around the bush anymore. I really want to take you out. Saturday night, 7pm?
Y/N had agreed instantly and tried to protest when he said he would drive to Lawrence and have their date there, but he insisted. She wanted to avoid anyone seeing them, or even possibly running into Dean, but she supposed she couldn’t ignore that fact. She just hoped she could avoid him, though.
The restaurant buzzed with sounds of chatter from patrons and the soft jazz music playing through the speakers. Mark sat across from her, dressed in black jeans and deep green v-neck sweater, while she had adorned a silk navy blue strappy top, with black jeans and her long fawn coat, that was hanging off the back of her chair.
“This place is great” he said, as he looked around the room.
“Yeah, the food’s really good and the drinks are even better” she said, as took a forkful of her meal. It was the same place she had come to with Charlie for drinks. She loved the vibe there.
“So… what’s 8th grade teaching like?” he asked her.
She laughed a little, putting her fork down. “Challenging. It’s an interesting age for kids, they don’t really want to be told what to do but they know they have to. It’s rewarding though, especially when their faces light up because they’ve done well on a test or homework.”
“I suppose it helps they have a teacher as passionate as you” he complemented her.
It was nice of him to say that but somehow when Dean had some similar words to her, it was easier to believe him.
“Thanks” she said, accepting the complement with a smile. She needed to give him a chance.
“I gotta ask though. You said you’re from upstate New York. Why such a big move to Lawrence, Kansas? Of all places” he inquired with a laugh.
She smiled slightly, her muscles not committing to a genuine one. It was touchy subject, something that she couldn’t tell him just yet. She had told Dean, which she never expected to do so soon into their friendship, but she had trusted him. He made her feel safe to tell him, even in such a short time. It wasn’t going to be the same with Mark.
“I just needed a change, a new experience” she replied, not even remotely divulging the real reason.
“Fair enough” he nodded, taking a sip of his wine.
“What about you?” she asked, changing the subject. “What’s a day in advertising like?”
“Stressful” he huffed. “Not nearly as rewarding as teaching, but there are days when things go well, and you can relax for a small fraction of time. Then it’s just back to the grind, not a whole lot of time to appreciate your achievements.”
“But you love it, right?” she said, shrugging.
“Yeah” he said, simply as he went back to eating.
The rest of their conversation was light-hearted and fun, and Y/N was surprised at how much of a great time she was having with Mark. She thought that wouldn’t happen so soon, but she was glad that it had.
Dean got out of the shower, quickly drying off before getting dressed into jeans and a thicker white Henley, now that the weather was starting to turn. He was going to the bar tonight, with Cas and Benny joining him. It been a week since he and Lisa broke up. The day after it happened, Lisa took Ben and herself and some of their necessities to a hotel. During the week, she had been over a few times to pack up her things. It seemed like it would take a little while longer for her to completely clear her things out, but at least she was doing it while Dean was at work and he wouldn’t have to see her.
Dean drove to the bar, his thumbs drumming against the steering wheel as he listened to his music, loudly. When he arrived at the bar, he ordered a neat double of his favorite whiskey. As he sipped his drink, he frowned as he heard the words to the song that were playing.
You want commitment, and take a look into these eyes.
They burn with fire, yeah, until the end of time.
And I would do anything, I’d beg, I’d steal
I’d die to have you in these arms tonight.
He shook his head as the words hit home to what he was feeling. He may have rocked on occasion, but Dean hated Bon Jovi with a passion in that moment. He was trying not to think about Y/N. Nights out with Lisa had helped, but then something or other would remind him of her and he’d start thinking about her again. Now that things were over with Lisa, however, Y/N had been a constant thought in his mind this past week.
As he was hunched over on the table, he felt a pat on his back. He looked up to see Benny sit down in front of him, Cas not too far behind as he took the chair next to Benny.
“Good to see ya, brother” Benny commented, a big grin on his face.
“You get laid before getting here?” Dean asked, taking in his friend’s expression.
Benny chuckled, as the bartender came over and put a glass of whiskey down in front of him and Cas. “I don’t kiss and tell, Dean.”
Dean shook his head, rolling his eyes with a small smirk. He lifted up his glass as they all clinked theirs together.
“You seem… not grumpy” Cas commented, as he took in the lack of a scowl on Dean’s face.
Dean shrugged. “Things are… I don’t know, better”
“Really?” Cas asked, confused.
“Yeah” Dean nodded, simply. He hadn’t told his friends yet as he wanted to wait to get them to a bar to break the news. “I broke up with Lisa.”
Both Cas and Benny were in shock, their eyes widened. Cas sat forward as he squinted. “Seriously?”
Dean nodded, sipping his whiskey.
“Well… I never thought I’d see the day that happened” Benny said, shaking his head, with a smile on her face.
“Hilarious” Dean said, rolling his eyes.
“And you’re really… okay?” Cas asked, concerned.
“Yeah, man. I really am. I probably should feel worse, and I do, considering Ben was pretty upset. When it comes to Lisa, though… yeah. I’m good” Dean replied, truthfully.
“What happened?” Benny asked, curiously.
“Turns out, I was right. She cheated on me with some guy she used to know, when she went back to Indiana last year” Dean replied, staring down at the table.
“Damn” Benny whispered, shaking his head.
“Yeah” Dean agreed, sipping his drink. “Her phone was in front of me and I saw his messages. So… I ended it.”
“Good for you, brother” Benny said, clinking his glass with Dean’s.
Cas did the same with his glass against Dean’s.
“So, what now?” Cas asked, taking a sip of his drink.
“I don’t know” Dean shrugged, as one side of his mouth lifted up into a half smirk. “Something different, I guess.”
“What was that?” Benny asked, eying him suspiciously.
“Nothing” Dean replied, his eyebrows furrowed.
Cas leaned back in his chair, silently questioning Dean. “Does this have something to do with Y/N?” Cas asked, something occurring to him suddenly.
“No” Dean said, too quickly.
“Oh, it so does” Benny laughed slightly.
Dean looked between his friends, not knowing whether he should say anything or not. He hung his head, giving up the pretence.
“Yeah, it does” he said, his voice low but they heard him anyway.
“I should’ve known something was up when you were both making eyes at each other at the garage” Benny said, smiling wide.
“Nothing’s up, okay? Nothing happened” Dean lied yet again.
“That didn’t sound true, did it?” Cas asked Benny, knowing their friend well.
“Nope” Benny replied, popping the ‘p’.
They looked at him and he couldn’t deal with their knowing stares.
“Fine” Dean sighed, exasperated. “We kissed.”
“Dean” Cas groaned.
Benny let out a long whistle. “Damn, brother.”
“Yeah, I know, I know what you’re gonna say. It was a mistake, I shouldn’t have done it, I know I shouldn’t have. Okay?” Dean grumbled. “It’s just… I can’t stop thinking about her.”
“Do you like her?” Cas asked, genuinely wanting to know. He knew what his friend was like before he met Lisa, and he wanted to make sure he wasn’t reverting back to his old ways.
“Fuck, this is like high school” Dean mumbled, sipping his drink. “Yeah, I do. I like her. I mean, it’s more than that… I’m really falling for her.”
“And you haven’t told Lisa?” Cas asked, sitting forward in his chair.
Dean rolled his eyes and glared at him. “Well, I don’t think I have to now considering we’re not together and she actually cheated on me. This was just a moment of weakness.”
Cas nodded. “I guess you’re right.”
“Hey.” Dean leaned forward in his chair as he looked at both of them. “It was a mistake, the way it happened. I know that. Y/N said that she wouldn’t let it go any further as long as Lisa and I were together, and I agreed with her.”
“No wonder you two haven’t spoken in weeks” Cas muttered.
“Yeah” Dean scoffed, nodding. “It’s just… now that Lisa and I are over, I don’t know, but – maybe now I got a shot with Y/N.”
“Maybe” Benny said, a small smile on his face.
Dean looked at Cas and thought about whether or not he should ask about Y/N, but he needed to know.
“How… how is she?” he tried to ask as casually as possible.
“She looked pretty sad for a while. I guess we know a little about why now. She’s been better in the last week, though. She’s uh…” Cas replied, but he didn’t know how to broach the next subject.
“She’s what?” Dean was concerned as he asked the question.
“Y/N’s on a date. Some guy she met in the city when she went out with Meg and Charlie last weekend. It’s their first date tonight” Cas told him.
Dean’s jaw clenched as he looked down at the table. “Who’s the guy?” He looked up at Cas, his expression hard and distant.
“Mark something, I don’t know who he is. She seemed excited about tonight though” Cas replied, trying to gage some kind of reaction from Dean.
Dean huffed as he looked down at the table. She was on a date with some guy. Mark. She was moving on from him, and while Dean wanted to find the guy and tell him that he couldn’t have her, he knew she was right in moving on. She wasn’t anything to him for him to get protective of her. Maybe Mark was a nice guy and after what she had been through, she deserved a nice guy.
“Well…” he sighed, throwing his head back as he finished his drink. “Good for her.”
Benny knew that look on his friend’s face. “You alright there, brother?”
“Oh yeah” Dean replied, twirling his glass around in his hand.
“Dean-” Cas started but Dean cut him off with a glare.
“I’m gonna head back” he muttered, standing up from the table. He dropped a few bills on the table, before picking up his jacket.
“Thanks for tonight, fellas.” Dean walked away, without looking at his friends.
When he got back home, he poured himself another whiskey and sat down on the couch. He leaned his head back and closed his eyes. He kept thinking about how life would’ve been if Y/N hadn’t moved across the street. He may never have realized that he and Lisa were in a meaningless relationship, and probably would’ve kept going the way they had been for many more years.
Y/N encouraged him to go ahead with his plans for expanding the garage, a move he was scared to make, but he couldn’t wait to get started on that. She talked to him about all his likes and dislikes, listened when he talked about his family, and told him that maybe he and his dad still have to work out some things from the past. She trusted him enough to tell him about her previous relationship and what her asshole of an ex did to her. She cared about him and he cared about her. Hell, he was really starting to fall for her, but he had to respect what she wanted. Yes, it was a first date with this guy, and she might not want things to go further, but she deserved to give things a chance without him being a factor. She deserved to be happy.
Dean frowned and lifted his head, as he heard a car from outside, the breaks squeaking softly as it pulled up to the curb. He stood up and slowly walked to the window, his heart sinking when he saw Y/N get out of the car. She was coming back to her house with her date.
Mark drove her home, chatting and changing songs in the car to suit their mutual tastes, which she quickly learnt were quite similar. He wasn’t much for classic rock, but more for the folksy stuff of now. They kept the small talk going as he pulled up outside her house. She quickly got out of the car and walked to her front door as he walked beside her. She turned to him and smiled as they stood outside her door.
“I had a really great time” she smiled. There was definitely promise of more and of better, and she was going to give him the chance.
“Me too” he smiled in return.
He slowly and tentatively leaned in, kissing her cheek, softly. She smiled wider at the sweet gesture.
“Goodnight, Y/N” he whispered as he moved back.
“Goodnight” she said, watching him leave.
As she watched him drive off, she sighed. There was something there, and while she didn’t know what it was, she knew she had to take a leap and find out.
She really needed to call her sister and talk about this with her soon.
Dean watched as the guy leaned in and kissed Y/N’s cheek, very relieved that he hadn’t kissed her on the lips. She looked happy, and that’s what mattered. It was what he wanted for her. Even if he wasn’t the one to do that for her.
2 weeks later…
Dean had come to a conclusion about Mark. He hated the guy.
It had been two weeks since Y/N and Mark’s first date, and in that time, he had seen them together around town quite a few times. They would be talking and laughing, kissing and being happy and honestly, it made him sick. To someone else, it may have looked like he was jealous, and maybe he was a little, but he was mostly concerned for her and hoped that she had made the right decision. It was irrational to hate him based on all of this, considering he had never met the guy, but he couldn’t help how he felt.
The alarm blared obnoxiously, even though Dean had been awake for a few minutes already. He tapped it hard and turned it off, his hand combing through his hair. He got up and dragged himself into bathroom, quickly brushing his teeth and freshening up. He had opted to have a shower when he came back from doing some manual labor.
He got dressed in his worn jeans, dark brown Henley and a brown and white plaid shirt over the top, his black jacket over that and walked through the house. He picked up his wallet and keys and then left, firing up his Baby and driving away from the house, as his music blared. He made a quick stop to pick up three coffees from the coffee shop, and then drove for about 15 minutes, before reaching another street. He drove down, past all the pristine houses, until he came to the one he was looking for.
He looked up at the house as he got out of the car. It had seen better days and he had bought it for a steal a few months ago. With the help of Cas and Benny, he was going to fix it up and make it a home. They would do what they could until builders came in at a later stage and did all the more complicated things like wiring and plumbing.
As he walked into the house, his mind started thinking in overdrive. Throughout his time as a bachelor, he was the love ‘em and leave ‘em type of guy, opting for one-night stands rather than proper relationships. It was fun and easy, but over time he had gotten over that. Cassie was his first serious girlfriend when he was 24, and they dated for 6 weeks. He had cared about her, but they weren’t meant to be. He dated girls and continued his one-night flings for a few years, before he met Lisa. She didn’t end up being just a one-night thing, and he really thought that they would be great for each other.
While being every woman’s “Mr. Right Now”, Dean had always longed for something more, even if he didn’t admit it to anyone. He barely admitted it to himself. That being said, he used to have a recurring dream. A beautiful woman in a beautiful house, welcoming him with a passionate kiss as he came home from work. They had three children, 2 boys and a girl. He couldn’t see their faces, as it was a fantasy in his mind that would never come true. When he met Lisa, the woman had morphed into her. However, as they started to have their problems, the woman became faceless again.
Standing there in the house at that moment, images of the dream started to flash before him. The woman had a face again. This time… it was Y/N. He suddenly began to imagine her in this house with him and Dean’s heart began to beat rapidly at the thought. She belonged here. He wanted her here with him. He wanted a life with her. He couldn’t want that. He tried hard to turn the image of Y/N back into a faceless woman, but nothing happened.
He was 34 years old and his little brother had gotten married before him, and would no doubt tell him that they were having kids soon. He loved his brother and sister-in-law, but every time he looked at them it was a reminder of the fact that he may never have that. He never thought he wanted those things, but this recurring dream always told him otherwise.
A slap on his back startled him out of his daydream. Benny walked around him with Cas right behind him.
“You okay, chief?” he asked, picking up the coffee with his name on it.
Dean nodded, blinking a few times. “Yeah. Fine.”
“You sure?” Cas said, concerned when seeing his friend looking slightly out of it.
“Uh… yeah. I, um… just have a few things on my mind” Dean said, looking around the house.
“Well” Benny started, lifting up a sledgehammer. “Nothing like breaking some shit to clear your mind.”
Dean huffed a laugh and took the tool from him, walking over to the nearest wall and getting to work.
Y/N pushed her sunglasses up and pulled her brown checkered coat a little tighter around herself. Despite the sun, there was a chill in the air as brown leaves brushed over the pavement. She sat outside a café, waiting on Charlie and Meg to get there for brunch. It was Sunday and Meg always had them off, so they were taking the opportunity to see each other. Her foot tapped along to the song that came from the café, the leaves making a crunching noise as they caught under her shoe. She smiled when she saw them walking up the sidewalk, both bundled up as well. The fall was in full force and it wasn’t Y/N’s favorite in terms of weather, but she had to admit, it was incredibly beautiful as she admired the leaves changing color.
She sat up a little and kissed them both on their cheeks, as they sat down across from her. She smiled as she watched them settle in.
“I’m starving!” Meg groaned, as she looked at the menu.
“Hello to you, too” Y/N laughed at her dramatics.
“We better order quick before the demon comes out” Charlie joked, earning a side eyed glare from Meg.
Y/N laughed as she called the waitress over and they all ordered, after Charlie and Meg quickly decided what they wanted.
“So, how are things going with Mark?” Meg asked, getting straight to the point.
Y/N shrugged, knowing there wasn’t much to tell. “It’s been a good two weeks. I’m having fun with him. He’s a great guy. We’re seeing each other again tonight, for a movie.”
“That’s so great, Y/N” Charlie beamed. “I’m so glad you’re happy.”
Y/N smiled, nodding. “I am.”
Mark made her laugh and forget about everything that had happened before they met, but at the same time, she was still waiting to feel the sexual chemistry with him.
“He’s coming to your birthday dinner on Friday, right? We gotta meet this guy properly” Meg asked, as the waitress came back with their coffee orders.
“Yeah, he is. So, you can assess him then” Y/N laughed, as she took a sip of her coffee.
Charlie joined in but stopped as she wondered if she should ask Y/N what she wanted to ask at that point. “Have you… have you talked to Dean at all?”
Y/N sighed as she looked at her friend, and then shook her head after a few seconds. “No.”
“You really want to cut off from him completely?” the redhaired woman asked, her face morphing into sadness.
“I think I have to” Y/N replied, as she avoided her friend’s gaze. She knew that if she looked at her, she’d change her mind, and she couldn’t do that.
Charlie bit her lip as she and Meg looked at each other. Meg nodded, and Charlie turned to Y/N.
“What?” Y/N asked, knowing something was up.
“Y/N… Dean and Lisa broke up” Charlie told her.
Y/N felt her breath catch in her throat as her eyes widened. That was the last thing she was expecting Charlie to say. “W-When?”
“A few weeks ago” Meg replied, her fingers tapping against her coffee cup, nervously.
Y/N scoffed, shaking her head. “And you’re telling me this now?” She was annoyed that they hadn’t bothered to tell her this for weeks.
“We wanted to, we really did” Charlie reasoned. “But Y/N, things seemed to be going great with Mark, so we thought we shouldn’t.”
Y/N looked between them. She sighed, looking down at the table and fiddling with the cutlery. “I guess you’re right.”
“It’s just that after that night,” Meg started, putting her coffee down after taking a sip. “You seemed pretty ready to move on and let him deal with whatever happened with Lisa.”
A night out with just Meg a little over a week ago, Y/N had told her what had happened with Dean. She was sure that Cas knew from Dean considering they were best friends, but she was glad that he kept it in confidence that he knew and didn’t tell Meg, despite them being a couple.
“Yeah” Y/N nodded, but her mind was a whirlwind of thoughts at that point. “What happened?”
“He found out about her cheating on him” Charlie replied, sadly.
Y/N’s eyes closed as she shook her head. She couldn’t believe it. Her heart was breaking for him, and all she wanted to do was go over to him and see how he was doing.
“Y/N” Charlie said, trying to get her attention.
YN shook her head as she looked at her friend, having spaced out for a few moments.
“You okay?” Charlie asked, knowing that she wasn’t but asking anyway.
“Yeah” Y/N nodded, smiling. It didn’t really convince her friends. “I’m good.”
Y/N was thankful as their food arrived and it distracted them from what they were talking about.
As Meg told them about something that had happened at the hospital recently, Y/N spaced out again. She couldn’t believe that Dean actually broke up with Lisa. Knowing the reason though, she was glad that he finally had, even if finding out she was cheating on him was the most awful thing that could ever happen. Now, Y/N found herself at a dilemma. Dean was suddenly single, and she was with someone. She really liked Mark and she was having a great time with him. She wasn’t about to break up with him just to be with someone else, but her mind kept floating back to her green-eyed neighbor. She told herself it wasn’t a good idea for several reasons.
One, she was with Mark and she was having a wonderful time with him. Two, Dean had just gotten out of the relationship and he needed some time to himself. Three… she was Mark. She couldn’t break his heart just to be with someone else. She really liked him, and he even kept her mind off Dean, sometimes. So, she wasn’t going to do anything about this new information of the breakup.
It was officially time to move on.
Y/N smiled as she walked hand-in-hand with Mark, down the sidewalk. They had just watched a movie and were walking back to the car, Mark insisting on driving her to and from their movie date. The night air was chilly, and they were thankful they were both rugged up; Mark in a long black coat over a white sweater and jeans, Y/N in a thick, high neck grey sweater, jeans and ankle boots. They were walking in content silence, but every now and then Mark would lean in and kiss her head. It had been two weeks for them and while Y/N was happy with where things were with them, she had a feeling that things were going to progress every soon. They had had several make-out sessions on her couch, but they were still yet to do anything else. It might’ve felt like it was too soon, but she really did like him and she felt they were ready to take the next step in their relationship.
As they were walking down the sidewalk, they walked past a few bars and restaurants. Suddenly, Mark’s path was cut off slightly as someone walked out from a bar and onto the sidewalk.
“Oh, sorry, man” Mark said, looking at him.
The guy turned to face them, and Y/N felt her breath stop as she saw Dean. He looked so good, wearing a leather jacket over a red and black plaid and dark blue jeans. Dean looked between her, the guy she was with and their hands joined together. So, this is him he thought as he looked at Mark.
“It’s okay” Dean said back. “Hey, Y/N” Dean said, looking at her.
“Hi, Dean” she tentatively smiled.
“You both know each other?” Mark asked, confused.
“Uh, yeah. Dean’s my neighbor” Y/N said, looking up at Mark. “Dean, this is Mark.”
Y/N watched as an older man walked out of the bar and up to Dean, looking at him.
“Everything okay?” he asked him, as looked at her and Mark.
“Yeah” Dean nodded quickly. “Dad… this is Y/N my neighbor and this is Mike” he said, introducing them.
“It’s Mark” the man in question corrected Dean.
“My mistake” Dean said, trying to give him a polite smile, but it didn’t move far enough on his face to be genuine.
Y/N took a deep breath. This was the moment she had feared most. She decided to ignore it, as she smiled at Dean’s father.
“It’s so wonderful to finally meet you, sir” she said, offering her hand. “Dean’s told me a lot about you.” She felt Mark looking at her and knew she was going to get a lot of questions later.
“Well, Dean hasn’t told me anything about you, but it’s still great to meet you, as well” John said, shaking her hand as he glanced at his son.
“We should really go” Dean said, looking between the couple and his dad.
“We should too” Y/N said, looking at Mark.
“Great to meet you, man” Mark said, offering his hand to Dean.
Dean looked down at it for a second, before he shook it. “Yeah.”
As they all dispersed, and Y/N walked back to the car with Mark, she was practically hyperventilating at the thought that Mark and Dean had now met. Albeit briefly, but they had. Dean who she had kissed. Dean who she was trying to deny her feelings for but failing miserably.
She was suddenly wishing for the floor to open up and swallow her whole.
When they got back to her house and Mark took off his coat while she kicked off her shoes, the content silence they had before meeting Dean, was now awkward. Y/N filled two glasses of water and handed one to Mark, as she waited patiently for him to say what she knew he was thinking.
“So… did something between you and Dean?” he asked, looking up at her from his glass.
She shook her head. “No.”
“Really?” he asked, raising an eyebrow. “Because it felt a little-”
She walked over to him, cupping his jaw in her hands. “Mark, nothing ever happened between Dean and I. He was a good neighbor, invited me for dinner one night and told me a little about his family. That’s it.”
She came to the conclusion that he didn’t need to know what really happened. It was before she met him, and it shouldn’t affect them considering she didn’t know him then.
Mark sighed as he looked at her, a small smile appearing on his face. “Okay.”
She smiled and leaned up, kissing him softly. It didn’t take long for Mark to deepen it, as they wrapped their arms around each other.
“Hold on” he said, pulling away from the kiss and taking out his phone, connecting it through Bluetooth to her speaker.
So long, I’ve been looking too hard, I’ve been waiting too long
Sometimes I don’t know what I will find, I only know it’s a matter of time
Y/N laughed a little at the cheesy song choice but smiled up at him as he pulled her closer and wrapped his arms around her waist, swaying side to side. She wrapped her arms around his neck as he leaned down, kissing her, passionately. Things began to heat up, as Y/N cupped his face, kissing him firmly. She nipped at his bottom lip and opened her mouth, their tongues meeting. He was a good kisser, even if he wasn’t quite the kisser a certain someone else was. In that moment, however, she didn’t want to think about her gorgeous green-eyed neighbor.
Mark walked them back to the couch, helping her lie down. Y/N looked up at him as she undid her jeans and pushed them down her legs, throwing them on the floor. He looked down at her, his eyes dark with lust as he lowered himself and wrapped his arms under her, pulling her close. His hands pulled her high collar down as his lips moved down her jaw, nipping and sucking as they landed on her neck. He moved his hips against hers, and she felt herself getting wet from the friction of him getting hard against her panties, through his jeans. He lifted his sweater and took it off, and her hands quickly reached for the white t-shirt he was wearing underneath it. She took it off him and flung it somewhere, both of them not caring. She caressed his arms, his flexed muscles rippling.
Y/N’s cupped his jaw in one hand as she kissed him, the other moving down and rubbing against the seam of his jeans. She felt him growing hard against her hand and she moaned into the kiss.
“You’re sure, right?” he breathlessly asked, going for her neck again.
“Yeah” she gasped, closing her eyes. She quickly pushed him up and sat up, pulling her sweater off, pulling it over her head and off her arms.
Mark stared down at her light pink lacy bra and groaned. “Shit, baby.” He leaned in and kissed her, his hands in her hair.
Y/N started unbuckling his belt and pulled it through the loops, as he fumbled with taking his wallet out of his back pocket. He took out a foil packet and she took it from his hands. He unzipped his jeans and pulled them down along with his boxers, revealing his hard cock. He was a reasonable size, and she looked up into his eyes as she wrapped her hand around his shaft, pumping her hand slowly. She leaned back and laid down on the couch, biting her lip as she smiled up at him. He took the packet and tried opening it with one hand, but it fell out of his hand, disappearing somewhere on the couch.
“Oh shit” he whispered, laughing slightly.
“It’s okay, let me see where it is” she said, laughing along with him as she felt around for the foil packet. “If I don’t find it, I’ve started back on the pill, so we should be good.”
It was a moment or two before she found it, lodged under a couch cushion. She waved it with a smile and went to open the packet, but her eyes widened as she looked down at him. His hard on had gone down, becoming flaccid again, in the time that it had taken to find the condom.
Mark noticed her expression and looked down, cursing. “Oh shit, I-I-I uh,” he stuttered.
Y/N tried to calm him down, putting her hands on his shoulders. “It’s okay…”
“No, no, it’s not-” he shook his head, but stopped when she cupped his face, making her look at him.
“Mark” she said, shaking her head. “It’s honestly okay. It happens sometimes. It’s okay. Seriously.”
“Okay.” He nodded as he moved away from her, reached for his boxers and quickly put them on.
“Hey” she whispered, cupping his jaw. “I mean it.”
“Thanks.” He tried to smile but couldn’t. “I should go” he said, disappointed. He avoided her gaze, frowning. He quickly got up and got dressed again.
She walked up to him, wrapping her arms around his neck. “Look at me.”
He looked at her, still frowning. She leaned in, pecking his lips, softly.
“We’ll try again soon, and it’ll be amazing” she smiled, wagging her eyebrows. “Okay?”
His lips turned up in a small smile as he nodded. “Yeah.”
She kissed him again, a little harder this time, a way to emphasise what she just said.
“Get some sleep” she whispered against his lips. “I’ll see you on Friday, right?”
“Yeah” he said, as he moved away from her.
“Goodnight” she smiled.
“Goodnight” he said, as he picked up his coat and put it on. He walked over to the door and looked back at her. She smiled at him and blew him a kiss, trying to cheer him up.
“Bye” he called out.
She gave him a little wave as he walked through the door, closing it behind him.
Y/N’s mind was racing. Maybe what happened just now was because it hadn’t been very long in their relationship. Maybe they needed longer than 2 weeks to decide how they felt about each other and for the connection to form. It wasn’t his fault, and she knew that; it did happen sometimes.
They would try again. She was determined to try again because she did like him.
Or maybe she needed to stop trying to deny what she felt for the man who lived across the street. Would it be easier to end things with Mark now and move on with Dean? She shook her head, as she really thought it through. She couldn’t break Mark’s heart after what just happened, and Dean had just broken with Lisa recently. She kept coming back to the fact that he needed some time to himself.
She really wanted to make things work with Mark. Tonight didn’t turn out like she thought it would, but she couldn’t let it be a setback.
“So… Y/N” John said, smirking at his son as they walked back to their cars.
“Dad” Dean groaned, shaking his head.
“You failed to mention who she was, so clearly there’s something I’m missing” John smiled, as he dissected the situation.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about” Dean denied as they reached where the Impala and his dad’s truck were parked.
John chuckled as he turned to face his son. “You just denied it which means it’s serious.” John looked at him knowingly.
Dean shook his head as he looked at his father. “It’s nothing.”
Dean knew that admitting it wouldn’t change anything. She was still with him. It wouldn’t make a difference.
“Okay” John said, not believing him. “I’ll get it outta ya eventually. Or Sam will.”
Dean rolled his eyes. “Bye, dad.”
“Bye” John said, with another small chuckle.
They hugged and went their separate ways, with a promise from Dean that he’d be over during the week for dinner. As he drove home, his mind was on Y/N again. She was a constant thought and quite frankly, he didn’t think he could take it anymore. If his mind could stop teasing him with thoughts of her while he couldn’t do anything about it, it would make life more tolerable.
As he went to bed that night, he knew that it was too good to be true. He drifted to sleep, his thoughts morphing into dreams of Y/N and the life they could have together.
A life he desperately wanted with her but knew he couldn’t have.

Injustice 3 Characters?........I’m hoping so!
So as of late, I've been hearing rumors that an Injustice 3 game is in the works. As much as I want all characters from both games to come back I think there are some characters whether they are DC characters that have yet to make an appearance, Crossover characters, or simply characters Warner Brothers has the movie rights to that I would love to see. This is my short list on who I would love to see in Injustice 3 if the rumors are indeed true as DLC characters.
DC Comics Characters: Abby Arcane - Current Avatar of the Rot: She could be an interesting addition to the Injustice cast if Swamp Thing and Poison Ivy return. I could see her dialogue with Swamp Thing being similar to Ollie & Dinah's and her dialogue with Ivy being more vicious towards because Swamp Thing's heart and soul has always been Abby's. Now I know, that they are no longer an item (regrettibly) but it has been proven in one of the recent Justice League Dark comics that they still have feelings for each other even though one is the Avatar of the Rot and the other is the Avatar of the Green
Anton Arcane - Rival Rot Avatar: If Abby is added for Swamp Thing then you have to have the one person who is their worst enemy. Dialogue between both him and Abby and him and Swamp Thing would be vicious and awesome. Even his dialogue with Ivy a hinted future Avatar of the Green from the New 52 Swamp Thing series. he could also be an invaluable ally to Superman to a point because in one of the tie-in crossover series to Injustice Superman obtained Rot-Creatures to protect his territory from magic.
Zuggernaut: I admit I know little to nothing about this character, except that he appears to be a copy of the manga version of the last character in this short list (who was created in 1985) and think it would be nice to see both on screen together challenging each other on who the true Alien Bio-Weapon really is. Would also be kind of sweet to see him and Jaime’s Blue Beetle fight.
Animal Man: An ally to Alec Holland during the RotWorld saga, I think interactions with not Just Swamp Thing but Vixen, Cheetah, Ivy, Aquaman (who is literally the Avatar of the Blue - Water) would be interesting. More so if Abby Arcane and Anton Arcane are added to the game.
Crossover Characters:
Oroku Saki aka The Shredder: Come on now, like Swamp Thing and Anton Arcane, you can't add the Ninja Turtles without adding their greatest enemy the Shredder. If memory also serves me right from the Batman vs TMNT movie, Shredder was also someone who could go toe to toe with Batman in combat and beat him and had him on the ropes their second encounter. Depending on what continuity you follow Shredder has been known to take down aliens 3 times bigger and stronger than him. So him taking on someone like Superman and soundly beating in a game like Injustice wouldn’t be that much of a stretch.
He-Man and Teela: Let me be as blunt as blunt can be. This is NOT because of the new Kevin Smith series. This is because of the Injustice vs Masters of the Universe tie-in comics. Both He-Man and Teela in those comics proved they could fight not just Superman but with Bane and Wonder Woman also. Teela mortally wounded Wonder Woman (who was saved on Batman’s quick thinking) and was even called a Good Soldier by a bleeding out Wonder Woman and up until the power of Greyskull ran out, He-Man was going blow for blow with Superman. Teela also got the attention of Granny Goodness with her prowess of a fighter and considered.....”TRAINING”..... her to be an addition to her Furies.
But even the He-Man vs Teela dialogue could be prove to be rather interesting, especially if she is te Injustice vs MotU Teela who knows Prince Adam is He-Man, and could prove to be comical with others because she kind of gets jealous when Zatanna touches Adam’s chest-plate.
Skeletor: But including He-Man and Teela, you have to include Skeletor who was plotting not just against Superman but also Darkseid all to gain access to Castle Greyskull even though it cost him his life in the end..... or did it?
But with the inclusion of He-Man, Teela, and Skeletor it also can open up the door for Hordak who in the Injustice vs Masters of the Universe forms his own version of a Red-Ring corps and took over Apokolips. The Hordak who like Darkseid is more than happy to commit genocide on hundreds of planets just for a whim. Which I know some will argue with his involvement you gotta have She-Ra - which I would agree, BUT Classic She-Ra. The same She-Ra who also had the title Desparda who had no qualms killing thousands in the name of Hordak and nearly killed her brother in the MotU: Eternity War saga which was also done by DC Comics. I know the She-Ra fans of the recent series will be upset with that, but lets be honest - for something that is dark and serious like Injustice, the new versions of Hordak and She-Ra just simply wouldn’t cut it. She-Ra and Teela matches and She-Ra and He-Man matches alone would be a nice add. Sibling Rivalry and two future Sister-in-Laws... “SPARRING.”
Guyver: I know, I know this is a wishful-thinking-pipe dream of a fan to a dying franchise. I know New Line Cinemas did the movies and Warner Brothers now own the rights to the Guyver movies, since I last checked or at least Guyver: Dark Hero (1994) which is the main reason I want to see Guyver crossover into Injustice. But I would love to see Guyver and Blue-Beetle (2 Alien War Machines) go at it and even even Guyver vs Zuggernaut. The dialogue alone along with their super attacks would be absolute gold!
Edit-Addons for DC Characters (6-25): Magog (Kingdom Come): If anyone by now isn’t familiar with Kingdom Come, it is an alternative to the Injustice Series. Instead of Superman killing Joker for Lois’ death it was Magog. When the aquittal of Magog forced Superman to go into a self imposed exile, Magog formed his own group of Super-humans and distributed his own ruthless form of justice upon those that his group fought culminating in the destruction of Kansas. The inclusion of his character could prove interesting because like Injustice the death of Lois at the hands of Joker and his deaths set into motion in both “universes” where the Justice League (who’s dangerously close to turning into the regime) and Batman’s allies fight.
Gog (The Kingdom): With the Multi-Verse in play from both games, the inclusion of this guy is a must! He started off as a normal man by the name of William who was one of the survivors of the Kansas Disaster caused by Magog, saw Superman as the as quite literally a Jesus Christ type figure. When Superman set him straight on things including the Kansas Disaster, William’s beliefs were shaken to the core and questioning his worth, in which the Phantom Stranger bestowed upon him all sorts of powers (powers of Zeus, Shazam, Oan, and a few others I believe). But with his beliefs shaken along with his worth and mental stability fractured, he used said abilities to go on a Superman killing spree throughout the multi-verse. He was so mad that he even went back in time and caused his own Kansas Disaster catching the attention of the present Superman/Wonder Woman/Batman. It took the combined might of the time Traveling Superman/Wonder Woman/Batman and some allies with the “present day” versions of themselves and “PD”-Superman piercing the veil of the multi-verse to completely defeat Gog. Seeing him fight Injustice-Superman alone would be worth his inclusion.

I’ll Make a Million Mistakes
Read here on AO3!
Summary:
“Don’t worry,” Dick says, throwing his arm around Duke’s shoulders. “Everyone in this room has had their teeth knocked out at one point or another. It’s a rite of passage around here.”
“I don’t know how to tell you thith, but that doethn’t happen to normal people. We acthually prefer to keep our teeth, believe it or not.”
“Wait until you get your first major battle scar. Trust me, they’re cool.”
“Y’all need Jethuth.”
Bruce likes to think of himself as a patient man. Even more, he’d like to think it’s a trait he earned all on his own, but anyone who’s met him would testify that he inherited his patience from the man who raised him, and Bruce would have to agree. This level of restraint he possesses is an acquired skill—one that is reserved for the world’s best butlers and for fathers of six. Karen from the PTA wishes she were on Bruce’s level. His exceedingly calm temperament is the only reason Bruce doesn’t melt into a puddle on the ground now, his bones turning into a milky froth because Jesus fucking Christ, hasn’t he had a hard enough night as it is? No person should have to spend two hours solving riddles because Eddie was feeling manic tonight and then be forced to come home to human children. Duke smiles around a mouthful of bloody gauze. “In my defenth, I’ve never even had a cavity before.” “No, you just got your tooth knocked out.” “Teeth.” “What?” “Ith acthually teeth, plural. I lotht two of them.” Bruce facepalms. “Goddamn it.” He ignores the giggles from his other kids, all of whom apparently decided they needed to be present for this conversation. He’s picking his battles tonight.
“Ith not my fault!” Duke points over at Tim, standing against the Batcave’s wall minding his own business. “Ith hith fault.” “It is not. Bruce, don’t listen to him.” “Oh, yeah? Who knocked me into the railing in the firtht plathe?” “That was Jason’s fault. He’s the one who threw the football.” “Actually,” Jason chimes in, “that was Cass. I was an innocent bystander.” “Liar,” Cass says. “Don’t call me a liar.” “Liar.” “You’re the liar. She’s framing me, Bruce, I swear to god. I’ve never done anything wrong to my siblings in my entire life.” Dick makes a spluttering noise. “You once threw a pineapple at my head because I was breathing too loudly!” “And I don’t regret it one bit.” Bruce sighs. He doesn’t have the energy for this. He gently grasps Duke’s chin, being mindful of his sore jaw. “Where?” Duke pulls out the wad of gauze and opens his mouth wide. He points at the space where his front tooth used to be, then a canine on the bottom left which now consists of half a white shard. “Ith thith one and thith one.” Bruce hums. “I can get you a dentist appointment tomorrow afternoon. They’ll put a couple of caps in and you’ll be good as new.” He’ll have to rearrange a few things in his schedule. At least now he has a valid excuse to skip racquetball with Clark. There is no logical reason a bumpkin from Kansas should be better at racquetball than Bruce is, there just isn’t. “Tho my thmile ithn’t permanently ruined? Thath a relief. Thethe babieth are my betht feature,” he says, all the while bloody saliva dribbles from his lip like a deranged vampire. Best feature, definitely. “Don’t worry,” Dick says, throwing his arm around Duke’s shoulders. “Everyone in this room has had their teeth knocked out at one point or another. It’s a rite of passage around here.” “I don’t know how to tell you thith, but that doethn’t happen to normal people. We acthually prefer to keep our teeth, believe it or not.” “Wait until you get your first major battle scar. Trust me, they’re cool.” “Y’all need Jethuth.” “At least it’ll make for a good story one day,” Tim says. “Everyone loves scar stories.” Jason snorts. “People actually like death stories more, but go off I guess.” “Nobody cares that you died, Jay. Find new material.” “You want new material? Check this out.” Jason tugs down the collar of his sweater. He shows off the mostly-faded autopsy scar sliced up his torso and to his shoulders. Bruce winces. Dick yawns. “So? You got autopsied. Big whoop. Scars don’t count if you’re dead when you get them.” He tips his head down, parts a section of his hair with his fingers to show off the fresh scar on his scalp. “Talk to me when you get shot in the head.” Tim rolls his eyes. “You realize how stupid this is, right? We shouldn’t be arguing about who has the worst bodily trauma.” “Why,” Jason says, “because you know you’d lose?” “Because I’ve got you both beat.” He pulls up his t-shirt to display the surgical scar on his abdomen. “Missing spleen. Beat that.” “I lost a kidney. Kidney trumps spleen any day.” Cass rolls up the leg of her shorts to show off her bullet-riddled thigh. “Connect the dots. I win.” “But have you lost a vital organ?” Tim asks. “No.” “Spleens aren’t that vital,” Dick says. “Fuck off, at least you still have one.” “I would prefer to keep my organth,” Duke says. “Juth thaying.” “And you will,” Bruce assures him. “Probably.” “Probably?” “Look, I’m tired. We’re all tired. Can we schedule the scar contest for a later time when I’m hopefully not here to witness it?” Maybe he can ask Alfred to drug his tea from now on. At least then he can rest easy in a drug-induced slumber, knowing all the while that he’s missing the kind of petty arguments no parent should have to hear. “No one said you had to be here,” Dick says. “Anyway, Bane once slammed me against a wall and now my hip throbs when it rains.” “At least your wrist doesn’t click when you move it at the right angle.” Jason shakes his wrist next to Tim’s ear. Tim cringes. “You’re all amateurs,” a new voice says, and Bruce wants to die. Damian and Stephanie appear to have returned from patrol, still in their uniforms. “Try having your entire spine replaced.” Tim wrinkles his nose. “Great, it’s time to hear Damian talk about how much better than us he is. My favorite activity.” “Shut up, Drake. You’ve never experienced pain.” “I got blown up once! I still have burn scars all over my neck and shoulders!” “Eh. I’ve had worse.” Steph grins and holds up her left hand, just happy to be included. (Note to self: ponder whether Stephanie is secretly a golden retriever in human form.) “I have no feeling in these three fingers.” She pokes them to demonstrate. “And should I mention that I was tortured by Black Mask once? No? Because power tools were involved, in case anyone was wondering.” “Do I need to reiterate that I once died in an explosion?” “Jason. Little wing. I’m begging you to shut up about your death.” Cass points to a spot on her ribcage. “Two ribs made of metal. Got shattered during a fight. Four years old.” “My dad used to burn me with cigarettes every time I was bad, so...seven times a week, more or less.” “Oh, same!” Jason and Steph high-five. “My grandfather broke my arm in two places when I made a mistake during a training drill. He made me fight assassins for three hours straight afterward without so much as an ice pack.” Duke looks horrified. “Are you guyth okay?” “No offense, but none of you should talk unless you’ve gone through childbirth.” Stephanie rolls up the top portion of her Batgirl suit just enough to show off the scar across her lower belly. “You think getting blown up is hard? Try spending three hours in labor and having a baby ripped out of you. That’s hard.” Jason wipes away a fake tear. “Boo-hoo, someone had a baby when she was a teenager. Human reproduction doesn’t involve being beaten to death with a crowbar.” “Nobody cares that you died, Jason!” “Indeed,” Damian agrees. “Being stabbed by your clone is far worse than being caught in a little explosion. And I can take a crowbar beating in my sleep.” “I’m gonna kill him, Bruce. I’ll kill him right now. Just say the word and I’ll do it.” Bruce sighs, closing his eyes. “Duke, there are painkillers in the medicine cabinet if you need them. I’ll text you the time of your dentist appointment. The rest of you, please refrain from talking to me for the rest of the night.” Bruce walks away toward the manor, silently praying that he can forget this conversation ever happened. “Hey, who wants to see where Killer Croc bit my ass once?”

hey~
hope you are having an amazing week!
how would you feel about doing a noah harris x mc request from the best vs worst prompts?
maybe 21. best day at school vs worst day at school OR 27. best game vs worst game?
hi anon! thank you for the request, #27 was fitting and allowed me to close-out the chapter of my noah x mc arc (a little bit got cut out from my outline, but at least now it's finished).
author’s note: when I got this prompt, I decided to take the outline I had written for a continuation of my other MTFL fics and retro-fit it here, which is why it’s a bit longer than typical prompt fills. this finally gave me the motivation to continue the relationship I started in “first choice” and “the perfect gift.” I also drew some real-life inspiration from patrick mahomes of the kansas city chiefs (national football league in the u.s.). enjoy!
copyright: all characters owned by pixelberry studios. series/pairing: my two first loves - noah harris x mc (emma price) rating/warnings: 13+; none based on/prompt: best vs. worst / 27. best game vs. worst game; also inspired by the song “never really over” by katy perry word count: 1.7k summary: two years after graduating college and agreeing to go their separate ways, the universe seems to want emma and noah back together.
best game vs. worst game
worst game
emma tapped her finger on her thigh nervously as she waited in her boss’s office for her first assignment. she had spent the last two years since graduating college curating a travel blog for a small magazine, which had allowed her to travel all over europe, north america, and south america – an experience she knew was probably once-in-a-lifetime.
but she was homesick and decided to return stateside once her contract was up. it didn’t take long to find a position with a professional agency that contracts photographers out for high-profile athletic and celebrity events. even as a junior photographer, she was going to have the chance to take her own photos.
her boss finally handed her a sheet of paper without so much as a glance, motioning toward the door. emma supposed she was excused then, quickly scanning the sheet as she walked out to her car. a pre-nfl charity meet-and-greet was the assignment, and if she wanted, she could stick around to take some back-up photos of the game.
seemed easy enough. except the team was the nightingales. where her ex-boyfriend was currently the quarterback.
a little over two years ago
noah gripped emma’s hand, leg thumping nervously in anticipation. his other hand held hazel’s, who wasn’t faring much better at keeping still. on the other hand, mrs. harris had sat frozen still in front of the t.v. for the last thirty minutes, and emma had to keep glancing over to make sure she was still breathing.
to say they were all on edge was an understatement. in a matter of minutes, they’d find out of noah was going to become a professional football player.
“and the twenty-third pick goes to… noah harris!”
the room filled with squeals as they all jumped up from the couch and gathered noah into a giant group hug. his arm never left emma’s waist, even as he lifted hazel off the ground in excitement.
“you’re coming with me, right?”
she avoided his gaze, choosing to hug him and duck her head underneath his chin instead.
“tonight is about you! we can talk about us tomorrow. we should be celebrating!”
emma took a deep breath and pulled her car out onto the main road, making sure her phone was navigating to the stadium. she hadn’t seen or spoken to noah since they broke up – even though he tried to understand her reasoning, which was that he needed to focus on football and she was going to be traveling constantly – and she wondered if he was still upset.
if they ran into each other, would he even acknowledge her?
her mind raced with different scenarios of how their “reunion” could go and before she knew it, she was pulling into the stadium parking lot reserved for press. you’re here to do a job, she reminded herself as she took a deep breath and made her way into the meet-and-greet area where players were speaking to and hanging out with several families and children.
she took a quick look around and sighed in relief when she didn’t see noah anywhere. she could do this.
about an hour later, she was packing up her equipment. the game would start soon and she needed to get into position. she hefted her bag onto her shoulder carefully before standing up, immediately wobbling under the weight and losing her balance.
a strong arm wrapped around her waist and steadied her.
“thank you—” her voice died in her throat as she looked up at the man that still haunted her dreams.
his eyes and face were mostly the same, but there was a hardened edge to them that wasn’t there a few years ago. his body and shoulders were much larger as well, and he pretty much overwhelmed her frame.
“hey cheerleader.”
she swallowed. “hi, noah.”
his hand lingered even as she righted herself and cleared her throat nervously.
“good luck—”
“it’s good to—”
they chuckled, tension broken for the moment as they looked into each other’s eyes.
“harris, let’s go!”
noah shoved his hands in his pockets and took a step back. “maybe we could catch up after the game, if you want to.”
her eyes brightened. “i’d love to.”
they didn’t get the chance. the world seemed to move in slow motion when emma saw noah go down in the pocket from a particularly bad tackle. he had to be carried off the field in a stretcher and it was all she could do to keep from running onto the field.
they had broken up so he could focus on his career. she hoped it wasn’t in vain.
best game
two years later
emma crouched low to the ground with her long-range camera, snapping pictures of the huddle. there was less than twenty seconds left in the game – just enough, if barely, time for one last play. they needed a touchdown. and she could feel the nervous energy in her body thrumming in time with that of the crowd.
when noah went down with that horrific injury a couple years ago, most people wrote him off and didn’t think he’d play again. and if he somehow managed to recover? they all just said he probably wouldn’t be the same. a collarbone injury was usually a career death sentence for quarterbacks.
but the media, press, and so-called sportscasters didn’t know noah like she did. how strong a fighter he was. how he picked himself back up after every setback and pushed onward.
this time, she was with him every step of the way.
that didn’t mean he had an easy go of it.
he had to get surgery and go through months of intense physical therapy to get his shoulder feeling back to normal. then he had rehab for football to try to get back into form. and there was always doubt as to whether he’d be as good as before.
the season hadn’t gone smoothly. they scraped and clawed their way to the playoffs, with opposing teams taking advantage of noah’s occasional hesitance in the pocket and conservative throwing by pressuring his position. but somehow, they pulled through.
sportscasters all over would remark about how something seemed to just “click” back into place for noah harris.
only noah and emma knew what that something was.
a few weeks earlier
“are you nervous?”
noah hummed thoughtfully as his hand trailed up and down emma’s shoulder.
“surprisingly, no,” he said after a moment. “win or lose, i have everything i’ve ever wanted right here in my arms.”
emma chuckled. “when did you become such a romantic?”
“you know you bring it out of me.”
he turned on his side so he could nuzzle his nose in her hair. “you’re it for me, babe.”
“me too, noah. i mean it. if you’ll have me forever, i want that with you.”
noah pulled back to look at her. “for real?”
she nodded.
of course, emma couldn’t say with confidence that their conversation made that big of a difference, but noah’s performance every game afterward seemed to be nothing short of miraculous. by all means, his shoulder should still be giving him trouble, but the way he was throwing today in the championship game would make anyone wonder if he had been injured at all.
but this was it. everything was riding on this last play.
they were down by three points and too far for a field goal. a touchdown would end the game and clinch the championship. the team wasn’t known for playing it safe, not with noah and his arm at the helm.
emma was glued to her camera lens and clicking away, but she was barely focused on the shots. she just hoped the footage was positioned correctly and usable. she heard noah call out the play and quickly scanned the field as players moved into position.
a hail mary.
it really was going to come down to these last few seconds.
she saw the wide receiver break through the line and speed down the field, turning back to where noah had stepped back, arm poised to throw. on instinct, emma moved her camera up and snapped the shutter, capturing the exact moment noah released the ball, right before he was tackled to the ground.
and then everything seemed to move in slow motion.
she swung the camera to the left, finding the receiver in the end zone with his arms outstretched. he jumped up and the ball came arcing directly into his arms and the stadium roared with such an intensity she thought she was going deaf.
emma quickly put away her camera and left her bag with her assistant before running on to the confetti-strewn field, weaving around reports, players, and staff.
she knew noah got tackled. she needed to see that he was okay.
despite the reporters surrounding him, she squeezed her way through and wrapped her arms around him.
“i’m so glad you’re okay,” she yelled over the stadium noise. “i knew you could do it.”
noah smiled and removed her hands from his neck. she frowned in confusion as he took a step back and dropped to one knee.
“what are you doing?”
he was holding out a ring box in his hand and she had no clue how that got there. did a trainer or someone sneak that over to him?
it didn’t matter. it didn’t matter that they were surrounded by tens of thousands of screaming fans or that this moment was likely being broadcasted live by the sheer number of cameras around them. it didn’t matter that his friends and teammates were all hollering and creating a protective circle around them.
all she could see was the love of her life looking up at her like she was the most precious thing in the world.
“the championship ring we just won today is nothing compared to what this ring means right here,” he said, opening the box to reveal a very sizable diamond.
“marry me, em?”
emma squealed, not caring that it made her look like an excited teenager.
“of course, i’ll marry you!”
noah carefully placed the ring on her finger before wrapping his arms around her waist and lifting her up. he swung her around before placing her carefully back on the ground, bringing her in for a deep kiss.
“i love you,” he whispered against her lips.
“i love you too, noah,” she whispered back as they held hands and headed off the field.

Mistake of a Lifetime
I LIVE!!!!!!! Hey everyone! I don’t know what happened last month. It was like my brain shut down. It was the worst feeling ever. I just couldn’t write. Which was insanely frustrating. But I’m back and off of work for the next three week due to COVID-19. And since I’m not venturing into the outside world, hopefully I’ll be able to get more writing done!!! So thank you all for being patient with me. I honestly have absolutely no idea where this story came from, but enjoy my beauties. Warning, there is a tiny, little bit of swearing but nothing major. As always, if you have any questions or comments feel free to let me know. Anyway, hope ya’ll enjoy!!! Peace!!!
Damian was frustrated. He couldn’t find that girl anywhere. He knew when he explained what he had done what he did that she would understand. His angel always did. She loved him too much to stay mad at him for long. Once she learned why, Damian knew that she would come back. That’s one of the reasons he loved her, she was so trusting and forgiving. No matter what he did, he knew she would welcome him back with open arms. But right now, he was irritated with his girlfriend. She hadn’t been in contact with any of the family in five months. No one knew where she was. Tim couldn’t even find her. It was as if she just disappeared. Which is what led him here, to what was hopefully the door of his best friend’s apartment. If anyone would know where Marinette was, it would be Jon.
Finding the apartment had been a slightly more difficult then Damian had first thought. Jon wasn’t one for covering his civilian tracts, usually allowing anyone, if they so wished, to track him down. But he had been strangely quiet the past few months. Superboy had also been absent from the hero scene. When Damian had inquired as to why, no one could supply a straight answer. Jon had spoken to his parents every few weeks to assure them that he was fine, but other then that, no one knew much.
The search for apartments rented out to a Jonathan Samuel Kent had turned up blank, as did all the other alias that Damian could think his best friend might possibly use. It eventually arrived at the point that Damian had run his handwriting through the data base to find a match for a signature. Eight states and eleven empty apartments later, Damian Wayne found himself climbing the squeaking steps to the apartment located above a little Chinese restaurant in the middle of Chinatown, San Francisco.
‘Honestly Jon, the other places where far better off then this,’ Damian muttered as he knocked on the door. The sound of scuffling followed by multiple items falling sparked a flicker of hope from the Wayne heir. Though he would never tell Jon this, Damian had missed his idiot of a friend.
“Buy too much at the market again? M, I told you, just get what we need for dinner tonight and we’ll get the rest tomor . . .” Jon said opening the door, the laughter that was oh so evident in his voice died the moment he saw who was at his door.
Damian watched as a wave of emotions filtered across his friend’s face. Surprise, confusion, and doubt where all understandable, at least in Damian’s opinion, but when Jon’s face finally settled on a mixture of anger and disgust, Damian grew confused and slightly irritated. He had not come all this way nor spent all that time looking for him to be received like that. Not by Kent, not by anyone.
“What are you doing here, Wayne?”
Now that caught him off guard. Damian could not, for the life of him, remember a single moment when Jon had referred to him, or anyone, by their last name. Ever.
“Tt, came looking for you. No one’s seen so much as a flutter of your cape in five month. The last time anyone heard from you was your parents, six weeks ago.”
“Well, as you can see, I’m fine. Now if there’s nothing else . . .” Jon said, closing the door, causing Damian to bit back a growl. He did not come all this way to get a door shut in his face.
“Actually, there is,” Damian countered, forcing the door back open as Jon sent a chilling glare his way, nearly causing him to laugh. If Kent thought he could scare Damian, the only blood son of Bruce Wayne, the Batman, with that poor excuse of a glare, he was in for a nasty surprise. “I need to know if you’ve seen my girlfriend?”
Damian was expecting many things, but none of them was the utterly disgusted scoff that came from the dark-haired young man as his face twisted into a scowl.
“Yeah. Two weeks ago. On tv. At the Wayne Gala. You remember, she was hanging off your arm like one of those rich people’s lapdogs. You know, the really yappy ones.” He said, something sparking in his eyes, though Damian couldn’t quiet place it.
“Not the Italian she-devil, you idiot. I mean Marinette.” Damian strained, actively using more force to push the door open as Jon was closing it. The disbelieving laugh that left the young half-kryptonian surprised Damian.
“Mar is not your girlfriend anymore, Wayne. Remember? YOU broke up with her five months ago. And then YOU announced that you were dating that – that – Rossi girl the next day on national tv.”
“Look Kent, all I want to know is if you know where she is or not, because I need to talk with her.” Damian ground out as he began to lose what little leverage he had on the door. The half second hesitation and slight dilation of Jon’s eyes was all Damian need to know whatever came out of his friend’s mouth was a lie.
“No.”
“You were always a terrible liar Kent.” Damian stated. Taking advantage to the slight surprise, Damian force the door open, stepping inside before the other man could react.
The apartment itself was rather small, though Damian was use to having far more space then needed. The apartment was an open floor concept. The only thing separating the kitchen from the living room was a counter that extended from the wall, cutting the room in half. A worn couch was sitting in the middle of the main room with a small coffee table in front of it. A tv was pushed against the wall, a few open movie cases lay scattered across the stand with a gaming console tucked neatly underneath. A bookshelf was shoved into the far corner. A fallen stack of books lay by a beaded doorway that Damian could only assumed lead to a bedroom. A few pictures adorned the walls, though Jon drew Damian’s attention before he could get a chance to identify who was in them.
“What the heck do you think you’re doing? I didn’t invite you in! Get out!” Jon said, his voice raising an octave, jabbing his finger towards the door.
“And here I thought your mother taught you hospitality,” Damian countered, enjoying the growl his comment caused. “As for what I’m doing here, I already informed you why. I want to know where my angel is and I need you to tell me.”
“Never. Gonna. Happen! What makes you think you have any right to see her let alone call her ‘yours’?” Jon growled, actually growled, at Damian. Under any other circumstances, he would have been impressed that the cheerful, happy Kansas native sounded so . . . threatening in his questioning. But Damian was quickly reaching the end of his already short patience. Pinning the other man with a glare that would have made his father proud, Damian watched as the other subconsciously straightened to his full height.
“I’m bringing her back, where she belongs. The Rossi mission is over and I want my Angel back.”
For five seconds, Jon stood there, brows drawn together in confusion as his brain processed what was said. Five seconds where he could have been telling Damian where his girlfriend was, Jon just stood there.
“. . . what?”
“Lila Rossi held vital, insider information of a new program which my mother and Dr. Hugo Strange were developing. We needed the information, but more importantly, we needed Rossi to trust us. I, obviously, was the best candidate for the job. Father and the others helped plan and execute it. We have the information we need and the parties involved have been dealt with appropriately, including Rossi.”
“. . . all of this . . . everything . . . was for a mission?” Jon asked quietly, his voice calm as he bent his head, his bangs covering his eyes. Damian let a small smile slip. He knew Jon would understand, and once he told him where his angel was, she would too.
“Yes. Now I need to know where . . .” Damian began to say when the left side of his face erupted in pain as the sound of something breaking filled the air. Whether it was his jaw or the picture frames he landed against, he didn’t know. He didn’t have the time to figure out as he was hauled to his feet and slammed into the wall, his head smashing into an other picture. Once Damian’s vision cleared, confused emerald met rage filled electric blue.
“You mean to tell me, that everything, Every hatful word, Every cutting remark, Every. Single. Day! Marinette spent CRYING was for some GOD DAMN MISSION!?!” Jon yelled, pulling Damian closer as his eyes flashed back and forth between blue and red, and for the first time in a long time, Damian felt fear. “Do you have any idea how much you hurt her!?!”
“It was a sacrifice necessary for the completion of the mission. Once she knows that, she’ll understand!” Damian shouted, defending himself. Everyone who knew agreed. The action was necessary for the mission. Without it, the whole mission would have been unnecessarily complicated. Even Clark and Diana had agreed, so why couldn’t Jon?
“Sacrifice? Is that what you think this was?” Jon hissed, eyes steadily changing from blue to solid red. “You broke her!”
“I didn’t . . .” Damian started to say before he was slammed against the wall again, causing the remaining pictures to fall, glass breaking on impact.
“SHUT UP!!!” Jon screamed. If it was possible, Damian saw his eyes fill with more rage then he had ever seen in one person, Jason included. “You know nothing! You broke her Wayne. She trusted you! After everything that happened to her, after being abandoned by so many others, she trusted you and you broke her! She gave her heart to YOU! Marinette gave you everything, only for you to turn around and throw her away like trash!”
“Jon,” Damian tried to say, but Jon wasn’t done.
“Do you know how I found her? After I found out you not only broke up with her but then decided to date the person that made her life a living hell, I spent six, SIX, hours looking for her. I finally found her on the roof where we first met her. She was just sitting there, on the edge, looking over the city. When she finally looked at me, her face was completely blank. No trace of emotion. The only real sign of life was how red and swollen her eyes were from crying. Do you want to know the first thing she said to me? ‘He left me.’ ‘He LEFT me!’” Jon snarled. “You have no idea how hard it was to keep her going after that. What it was like seeing her like that. Do you know what its like seeing someone who’s so full of life to just wilt in front of you. To see them lose everything that made them who they are.” Jon asked, his voice dropping in grief as his grip on Damian shirt loosened.
“Jon, I know. I hurt her. I know. That’s why I need to talk to her. I know my angel. Once I tell her, once I explain, everything will be fine.”
“No, Wayne. I don’t think you do know her.” Jon said, completely letting go of him as if he couldn’t stand touching him. “I know Mar better then my own mind at this point. She is the most trusting and kindest person you will ever meet, but even she has her limits.” He hissed, turning his back on his once friend, running his hands through his hair in anger and frustration.
All Damian could do was stare at the person, who had for the longest time, been his only friend. Steadying himself against the wall, the young Wayne looked down. Trying to gather his thoughts. To think of something to say when one of the picture frames caught his eye. Gingerly picking it up, Damian found himself looking through shattered glass at what appeared to be an ultra-sound photo sitting beside one the soon to be mother. Barely legible through the broken glass was Jon’s handwriting, ‘Mama and baby at eight months.’ The photo was dated three days ago. Damian couldn’t stop staring. There, through the shattered glass, stood HIS angel, her belly swollen to the point where it looked ready to burst, smiling at the camera.
What Damian was seeing wasn’t making sense. Eight months pregnant. They had broken up five months ago. He knew she had never slept with another guy before. Her first time had been with him. Once. Three months before they broke up. Eight months ago. She was pregnant. She was eight months pregnant.
His mind flashed to the last time he had seen her. The day he had ‘broken up’ with her. She had an appointment the day. A doctor’s appointment. She hadn’t been feeling well for the last few weeks. She had wanted to tell him something after the appointment. She had sounded so excited over the phone. She promised she’d tell him over dinner but he had gone first, telling her they were over. She had looked so heartbroken. So devastated. She never got a chance to tell him her news
Suddenly, the frame was torn from his hands but the damage had been done. He knew. Lifting his eyes, Damian met Jon’s gaze. Utter shock met panicked anger. For a few moment’s neither spoke. Neither man knew what say or how to react.
“Jon, I’m so sorry I’m back late! I distracted chatting with Aunty Liu and Grandpa Zhao wanted to know how the baby’s doing and then Mama Zhang wanted to give me some tea that’s suppose to help with my back pain an . . .” The sweet, sweet voice of his angel broke through the apartment before abruptly cutting off.
Damian’s whole body twisted toward the door faster then he thought possible. There, standing in the doorway, was the most beautiful sight Damian had ever seen. His angel, dressed in a soft, baby blue shirt that proudly displayed her heavily pregnant belly and black pant, stood completely frozen as her eyes, her gorgeous blue eyes that he had missed so, so much, darted between the apartment and the two occupant.
Damian took a step forward, she instinctively took one back, panic blooming in her eyes.
“Beloved I . . .”
Damian never got father then that. As soon as he spoke, Marinette’s face drained of colour as she turned and bolted from the apartment as fast as a woman of her condition could. He raced to follow, to hold her and tell her everything would be alright. That he would take care of her and their child. Their child! The very thought of his child sent an unbelievable wave of joy coursing through him! He was going to be a father! Damian was going to spoil his angel, his beloved, rotten. They would need to have one of the manor rooms renovated into a nursery. He would need to have someone take over his patrol for the next few month, his child and soon-to-be wife would need him and . . .
Both Damian’s train of thought and path was halted by the very painful grip on his arm. Fully ready to bite Jon’s head off, Damian was silenced by the red tinted glare his friend was giving him. He immediately notice how tense Jon was. He looked like he was ready for a fight, one that the kryptonian knew he would win.
“No. You are not going after her. The last thing Mar needs is this kind of stress this far in the pregnancy.”
“But . . .”
“I said no Wayne! Mar almost lost the baby once already. I am not going to allow her to go through that again! She can’t go through that again. I can’t handle going through that again!” Jon hissed, dropping his hold on Damian’s arm as he made a beeline for the stairs.
“Jon!” Damian yelled, hoping against hope that he would change his mind. That was his girlfriend and his child, damn it. He needed to be with them.
“No, Damian! Just . . . just go. You’ve done enough.” Jon shouted as he disappeared down the stairs.
Jon’s last comment caused the young heir to pause. He had done enough? He hadn’t been given a chance to fix what he had done. How could he have done enough? Sure, he had messed up royally, but he wanted to fix it. Why wouldn’t Jon let him fix it?
Pushing those questions aside, Damian ran down the stair, praying that he would at least catch a glimpse of his beloved. But the scene that met him as he burst into the street somehow drove Jon’s parting words home. There, braced against the wall of the building across from him, was Marinette. She was curled up as tightly as she physically could be, her face buried in Jon’s shirt as she let out the most heart wrenching sobs. Damian’s body refused to move as he watched Jon gently rock the mother of his child. His body refused to move as he watched the other man stroked her hair, promising to never leave her, whispering soft words of comfort to her as he planted butterfly kisses on her head. That he would always be there. That no one was going to hurt her. That she was safe.
Seconds turned into minutes before he could summon the strength to do what Jon had said. Casting one last look at his angel, his Marinette, Damian knew that taking that mission, that leaving her, had been the worst mistake of his life.

--
Pearl stood in line at the Buddwick Public Library alongside many other parents and parental figures like her, waiting as a bearded, glasses-wearing Japanese-American man signed books at a table.
"Hey, you wouldn't happen to not be from around here, right?" a single dad standing behind Pearl asked her.
"Well, technically yes," Pearl informed the father. "I come from a planet of beings similar to myself who are all based around gemstones, which explains my appearance. Also, just last week I helped save your world from a sociopathic revolutionary, so you're welcome."
"You foreigners say the craziest things!" the father giggled in disbelief of Pearl, who just groaned flatly as the line began to pick up.
Eventually, Pearl was at the front of the line and now face to face with childcare author George Ikari, who had his fingers clasped together as he gazed at Pearl.
"Let me guess, you are here because of your own son, daughter, or whatever pronouns your child prefers to be dubbed?" George asked Pearl while he took out another copy of his book, titled "When Your Child Wants Time Apart", to sign for the Gem.
"Well, he's not really my son, but Steven is the closest thing my team, the Crystal Gems, have to one after his mother died giving birth to him." Pearl explained as George got to signing. "And that's not even getting into the fact that his mother was a former despotic alien conqueror who grew tired of her life and the constant neglect from her fellow despots, so she faked her death because of how much she valued your planet as part of a big war, then thousands of years later she met a rock star and fell in love with him before they consummated their relationship and she gave up her physical form to give birth to Steven."
George just stared in shock at Pearl's tale before she tried to continue. "And just last week, there was this other Gem with a vendetta against Steven's mother who tried to destroy the planet and kill us a-"
"Stop." George commanded Pearl with a raise of his hand before handing over the signed book. "Just take the book and leave. Your tales are holding up the line."
"What did I tell ya, foreigners say the craziest things!" the single father from before laughed.
"I'm deeply sorry Mr. Ikari, it's just that Steven has been going through some rough times lately." Pearl apologized to the author.
"I completely understand miss." George said while pulling out his phone to show Pearl a picture of his own son, a young man with scruffy brown hair, a white dress shirt, and a nervous expression on his face. "My son Shane has had his fair share of troubles ever since his mother died, troubles that he insisted on running away from rather than facing them maturely."
"Just like Steven." Pearl compared the two boys sympathetically. "I am deeply sorry for your loss sir."
"Thank you for your kindness." George smiled, putting away his phone. "The best thing I feel could work for a situation like this is to let things play out and discuss his problems when the time is right."
"Thank you very much George." Pearl thanked the author as she finally began to leave the library with her new book in hand. "Though I doubt that'll be of any use to Steven."
--
Not too far away from the library, Steven was sitting in his room talking to Connie on the phone while she was on her study break.
"Wow Connie, looks like you got all this college stuff figured out." Steven laughed with his dear human friend over his phone.
"I've got a whole plan figured out for early admission into the University of Jayhawk, but I'm still not sure about my major," Connie explained to Steven. "Maybe I should major in political science and minor in sociology, or perhaps the other way around."
"Did all our galactic adventures together get you interested in politics?" Steven asked.
"Maybe." Connie chuckled. "But I'm thinking more down to earth, as far as long-term careers go." As the two laughed at Connie's pun, the timer on her phone began to go off. "Wow, fifteen minutes went by pretty fast."
"Aw man, these study breaks are too short." Steven complained before he realized something. "Hey wait, you left a brochure at my place last time." He stated, pulling out a brochure for Connie's college of choice to show her. "You want it back?"
"It's alright Steven, I still have two more, and the Internet too." Connie answered smiling.
"Oh, right." Steven realized. "Well, call me when you still wanna hang out, okay?"
"You know I will, silly!" Connie beamed. "Okay, for real now, bye!"
After Connie ended the call, Steven turned over on his back and gazed at the brochure in his hands. "The University of Jayhawk, huh?" he muttered to himself. "And how far is that from here?" Steven then opened up the brochure to learn how far the distance between Beach City and the university's location in Kansas was. "Oh, that far."
Once again, Steven began to glow pink as he sadly sank into his bed, fretting over how little often he'd be able to see Connie regularly. Gazing at his rose-colored hand, he then started pondering on whether he should do something about this new condition, as he had been thinking about since the titanic battle with Black Rutile.
--
Soon, Steven had decided to get up off his bed and walk downstairs, to which he found Garnet standing in the living room dressed in a hat and kerchief. "Oh Garnet, you're still here?"
"Steven." Garnet greeted Steven tersely.
"I could really use your advice right now." Steven declared racing over to the fusion. "It's about-"
"Not right now Steven, I gotta split." Garnet cut Steven off before un-fusing into Ruby and Sapphire.
"I'm terribly sorry Steven, but I'm running late for my lecture on alternate timelines." Sapphire apologized while taking off the scoutmaster's hat and giving it to Ruby, along with a kiss on the cheek, before racing off to her lecture. "See you soon!"
"Sapphire might be going, but you still got good ol' Ruby to talk to." Ruby said to Steven as she went to fetch a backpack. "Let's walk and talk scout, I got things to do."
"Oh, okay." Steven agreed as he followed Ruby to the Warp Pad, and the two set off.
--
Later that day, Steven had joined Ruby's class, consisting of Onion, Zebra Jasper, and Little Larimar, as they strolled through the woods on a gorgeous afternoon. When the class got to a good stopping point near a stump, Ruby hopped up on the stump to speak. "Okay everyone, you remember what we learned last week, right?" she asked her students. "Well, today is the day! Brace yourselves, 'cause today we're sketching nature and the animals around us!"
Onion and his Gem classmates excitedly took out their notepads to draw on as Ruby continued. "Draw to your heart's content scouts!" Ruby declared. "Feel the beauty of everything around you, and you'll have the honor of receiving this Nature Sketching Badge!" She then presented a patch depicting a paint palette and brush in front of depictions of a wolf and a bird. "Got that? Now get to drawing!"
As soon as the three pupils left to go draw the beauty of nature around them, Ruby took it as her cue to jump down from the stump to talk with Steven. "So, what did you need Garnet for?"
"It's about Connie." Steven admitted to the small red Gem. "Every time I talk with her, I feel like she knows exactly what to do with her life, mostly thanks to her parents, and I don't. When we're together as Stevonnie, I feel so ready for anything, but on my own, I feel so lost. Just, what do I want with life?"
"That's tough Steven." Ruby declared sympathetically.
"Exactly!" Steven replied. "Connie is gonna go super far away for college, and I'm gonna be stuck here in Beach City where barely anything can go right for me nowadays and I don't know what to do about them! I want to be with Connie forever, like how you and Sapphire are basically together forever as Garnet!" That was when he came to a conclusion. "Wait, if I want to be together with Connie, then she's my future!"
Steven's revelation made Ruby super excited, and she began scuttling in place with stars in her eyes, her rapid footsteps creating a small fire beneath her feet. "STEVEN STEVEN STEVEN STEVEN STEVEN!" she cheered, but stopped short once she noticed the fire she created. "Oh my gosh, one sec!" Ruby quickly ran off and came back with a towel that she used to put it out. "Anyways, STEVEN, YOU GOTTA PROPOSE!"
"Wait, propose?!" Steven exclaimed in shock. "But, we're only teenagers, we can't get married yet! But then again…"
"Don't say you haven't thought of it!" Ruby added cheerfully. "Besides, aren't there couples in this country that get married at 18 or something?"
"Y-yeah, I thought of it." Steven began blushing, which he tried to hide within his jacket. "I mean, we just had this discussion."
"Well, what are you waiting for?!" Ruby yelled happily while jumping up and grabbing onto his head. "DO IT, DO IT, DO IT! DO IT LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!"
"Are you still really sure?" Steven asked the overly eager Gem. "As I said, Connie and I are still only teenagers."
"C'mon, we told you about how it worked for Sapphire and I." Ruby responded. "And if you're successful, you'll have the honor of receiving this!" She presented Steven with a badge depicting one figure popping the question to another. "The Proposal Badge! And if you're not so sure, well, seeing the future would be really helpful here."
Steven gasped, knowing just who Ruby was implying.
--
Far away from Ruby, Sapphire sat down with her class, made up of the Watermelon Tourmaline fusion, two of the Nephrites, Orange Spodumene, Cherry Quartz, and Angel Aura Quartz, while drawing lines in the sand with a stick.
"Okay class, let's begin our lesson." Sapphire announced to her students when she spotted Steven racing towards her with a big smile on his face. "Ah, Steven. I've been expecting you."
"Hi, Sapphire." Steven greeted Sapphire. "I'm sorry to interrupt your class, but I got big news! I've been thinking about my future with Connie lately, and a chat with Ruby convinced me that I should propose!"
"Wait, don't you have to wait until you're a grown-up to do that?" Cherry Quartz inquired with a raise of her hand.
"Let me guess, you're here because of my future vision?" Sapphire asked. "Let's run the numbers then." She then let Steven stand next to her before beginning to speak to her class. "Okay class, let's review what we've learned today." She began while drawing complex math equations in the sand. "Using the concepts we discussed so far, let us calculate the probability of Steven succeeding in asking Connie to marry him. Let's begin with the probability that she'll want to spend her life with someone, and then we'll multiply that by the differential factor in sociocultural marriage acceptance. Next, we multiply that by a possibly happy cohabitation, the factor of fear of engagement, the intensity of the love you share, and finally the robustness of your goals in life." As Sapphire finished her equation, she finally turned back to Steven. "Are you following so far, Steven?"
"Uh, maybe?" Steven answered as he stared at the equation Sapphire had jotted down for him in the sand, but it wasn't long before the ocean tides began to wash them away. "Oh no, your work!"
"And there we have it." Sapphire declared with a chuckle. "Don't you get it, Steven? My marriage to Ruby, our fusion as Garnet, it eluded my future vision for so long, defied the odds, and perhaps even changed the course of time itself!" she declared encouragingly. "We could just write equations in the sand all day, but then a wave of chance can come crashing in and wash everything away! Love is truly unquantifiable! Even with my gift of clairvoyance, I know far better than anyone that love can make the impossible possible! And that is why I say do it! Do it, Steven, just do it!"
"Yeah, you're right!" Steven began getting pumped up before turning to Sapphire's class. "Get one last good look at me, everyone, because after today you're gonna be calling me Steven Quartz Cutie Pie DeMayo Diamond Universe-Maheswaran!"
The class began cheering vibrantly, bringing a big smile to Steven's face as he finally realized what his future now held.
--
As the afternoon slowly began to give way to evening, Ruby and Sapphire reunited by rushing towards each other on the sand, excited about the big proposal.
"Steven told me first, and I led him to you!" Ruby cheered, spinning her little blue wife around by the waist.
"I told him to go for it!" Sapphire laughed. "Oh, it's going to be so wonderful!"
As the two fused back into Garnet, she stood still for a few moments, contemplating her components' decisions before coming to one of her own. "I take full responsibility for their actions." Just then, Garnet heard footsteps and found Pearl walking behind her, her pointy nose stuck in a book. "Pearl, I'm guessing you want to see me about the book you're reading."
"I was just thinking about calling up you and Amethyst," Pearl announced as her gaze turned from the pages to her leader. "Where's Steven?"
"Oh, nothing much," Garnet answered. "Just going to make a rash decision that'll emotionally damage him in the long run."
"Oh, that's ni-" Pearl began before she did a double-take. "WAIT, WHAT?!"
--
As for Steven, he was too busy getting ready for an evening with Connie without a care in the world, picking up a cake from Spacetries that said 'Together forever!' on it, buying some flowers from Crazy Lace Agate, lighting up the glow bracelet that brought him & Connie together to begin with and dressing up in some nice clothes. If all goes well, he would soon become Steven Quartz Cutie Pie DeMayo Diamond Universe-Maheswaran.
Meanwhile, at Connie's house, Connie kept on studying for the University of Jayhawk when she heard a roar coming from outside her window. Walking over to the window, she discovered Steven parked outside her home with Lion by his side.
"Evening Connie, how are you doing?" Steven asked his ladylove.
"Steven?" Connie replied. "What are you doing here, and why are you all dressed up like that?"
"You got a fifteen-minute study break in two minutes, right?" Steven inquired, gazing at his watch to check if his timing is correct.
"Whoa, spot-on!" Connie exclaimed, gazing at her phone to learn that he was indeed right. "So, what did you come here for?"
"You want to go for a walk with me?" Steven offered. "I'm sure you could use some fresh air."
"That's very sweet Steven." Connie smiled. "I'd really love to, but I-"
"Don't worry, we can take Lion, and then I'll bring you home in fifteen!" Steven declared with a thumbs up.
"Okay, let's do this!" Connie accepted the offer and left her room to meet Steven outside, taking a moment to tell her parents along the way. "Bye Mom and Dad, I'm spending my study break with Steven!"
Once Connie was out the door, she and Steven mounted on Lion's back and he ran away from the Maheswaran residence.
--
"Remember when we first met here?" Steven asked Connie as they dismounted from Lion and began walking down the beach.
"You mean when you tried riding a bike in the sand and then started running away screaming?" Connie replied with a chuckle.
"Yeah, I was trying to get your attention." Steven added.
"Last I remember, I was more focused on my book than your silly antics." Connie stated.
"Well, that all happened right here." Steven declared, gesturing to a picnic at the very spot where he and Connie first met all those years ago. "You like what I have here?"
"Steven!" Connie exclaimed in awe at the picnic set before them. "I don't know what to say! I also can't believe you still remember this exact spot!"
"I just remember it like it was yesterday!" Steven exclaimed just as eagerly before running over to a nearby rock to sit on.
"This is too cute." Connie squealed while blushing.
"And without further ado," Steven announced as he picked up a guitar to play while Connie sat down. "There's something very important that I'd like to tell you today." With that, he started strumming the guitar and began to sing. "I'd rather be tall, I'd rather be smart, I'd rather be sure you know I care." He sang for Connie. "Wherever you go, wherever you start, I'd rather be sure you know I'm there. I'd rather I always be a part of whatever you do. I'd rather be me, with you."
Although Connie was a little turned off by the deeper meaning of Steven's song, she chose to just keep those feelings hidden to not hurt Steven's while he continued singing. "Wherever we go, I already trust, I'd know what to do if it were us. I'd know what to say, I'd know how to be, I'd know your entire syllabus." Steven continued as the song reached its climax. "I can't think of any other thing in the world that I would rather do. If I could be, I'd rather be me with you."
"Oh Steven, that's so beautiful!" Connie applauded the love song. "If a little unsettling, but I'd rather not say it out loud because-" Steven then got down on one knee and presented him her old glow bracelet. "Huh?"
"Connie, will you marry me?" Steven popped the question at last.
"Come again?" Connie asked, completely taken off guard by such a proposal.
"Let's get married and live together as Stevonnie, just like Garnet!" Steven reiterated for his possible wife.
"Are you serious?" Connie chuckled at the marriage proposal. "I think we should talk about this first."
"You might think I'm being sentimental, but this makes sense!" Steven exclaimed. "I don't know what you'll be studying, but I'm sure Stevonnie will! We can go to Jayhawk together!"
"I really appreciate this little date, but come on! You're still young!" Connie said as she stood up. "And acting a little clingy, I might add." She added under her breath.
"What was that?" Steven asked Connie.
"Nothing!" Connie lied. "Like I said, we're still young. And even if some couples get married at like, eighteen, I don't think we're fit to be one of those."
"So, you don't want to be Stevonnie with me?" Steven asked despondently, but Connie was there to comfort him.
"Of course I'd want to be Stevonnie, but I'd like to be my own person too," Connie answered reassuringly. "You get that, right?"
"Yeah, but," Steven began while putting the bracelet away as Connie hugged him. "Is it a no?"
"I'd say it's not right now." Connie answered.
"But if we're going to spend our lives together, why didn't you say it now?" Steven kept on inquiring fretfully.
"We got plenty of time." Connie declared, moving on from hugging Steven to holding his hands. "Don't you worry."
"I'm not worried, honest." Steven tried correcting his best friend. "I'm just happy when I'm with you."
"I'm happy around you too." Connie replied. "It's just that-" Before Connie could finish, the alarm on her phone went off. "Oh snap, my alarm!" she yelped in realization while pulling her phone out. "Forget studying right now, I don't think it matters."
"But it does matter to you!" Steven yelled.
"And you're just as important!" Connie responded, beginning to notice Steven getting more stressed out.
"I'm fine, we can talk about it later." Steven began rapidly panting. "Look, Lion's still right there, you can go now."
"Are you sure Steven?" Connie wondered sympathetically. "You're looking a little on edge. Maybe I can hook you up with a good therapist. She's a good friend of my mom named Dr. Rebe-"
"I'm sure I'm fine." Steven cut Connie off. "Now go."
"Okay." Connie obliged before giving Steven a goodbye hug. "I'll call you again tomorrow at noon." She said before walking towards Lion to have him take her home.
"Have fun studying!" Steven continued putting up a happy front as he bid Connie farewell. But as soon as she was out of sight, that front completely fell. "Nobody I love ever wants to stay."
With that, Steven fell back-first to the sand and turned pink, the resulting impact ruining the nice picnic around him as he wallowed in a crater of his sadness, and stayed there for the rest of the day.
--
Many hours later, Steven kept on lying in the crater long into the night with tears in his eyes, and when he finally decided to get up, Garnet was there waiting for him with the picnic basket containing the cake still intact.
"I assume it didn't go well." Garnet theorized as she helped Steven up from the crater and began walking him home.
"I don't get it," Steven muttered cynically. "Ruby and Sapphire said I should go for it, and I did, but everything went wrong."
"I apologize on their behalf," Garnet stated. "You just can't trust love advice from hopeless romantics like those two."
"Then why didn't you stop me?" Steven asked the fusion.
"I couldn't see a future where you didn't try proposing to Connie," Garnet answered. "However, there were quite a few where after she said no, you forced her to fuse with you and subsequently went insane."
"Of course." Steven moaned. "Even in alternate timelines, nothing can ever go right for me."
"Don't be so hard on yourself." Garnet comforted her half-human ward with a hug to the side. "Your soulmate should be your complement, not a missing piece. Ruby and Sapphire may deeply love each other, but they still have their own thoughts, feelings, and lives." The pair soon reached the beach house and sat down on the steps together. "Whatever hole you have in your life Steven, I want you to know that Connie or Stevonnie might not fill it."
"It's just that you guys make it so easy!" Steven revealed as he took the basket from Garnet. "Can't believe I'm saying this, but it's kinda your fault for being so dang perfect!"
"I know you're upset Steven, and I take responsibility for your plight," Garnet apologized to Steven. "but blaming others as much as you blame yourself won't help."
"Then maybe shoving this adorable cake in my face will!" Steven declared as he opened the picnic basket to reveal that the cake was in pieces.
"It probably won't." Garnet deadpanned, but Steven didn't listen and started eating the broken cake anyways.
"Well, I'm still gonna do it!" Steven exclaimed, his mouth now full of cake.
"I know," Garnet added as she gazed up at the sky. However, what she didn't catch was a fly buzzing around her and Steven, and its green eyes started blinking.
--
"Ah, romance. So utterly futile." Black Rutile grimaced as she watched the live footage of Steven drowning his sorrows in cake through a hard light welding mask. "Still, all that trauma could be useful in the future."
As Black Rutile was spectating on Steven's pain, she was hard at work on her plans for revenge, using a blowtorch to put together the final touches on a special wrist-mounted device. Once she was done, the villainous Rutile aimed the device at a rock carved into the exact shape of White Diamond's gem and fired. The resulting blast destroyed the rock and left a massive cloud of ash where it once was, but she wasn't satisfied with the smattering of pebbles that once made up the rock.
"Hm, need to work on the disintegration aspect a bit more." Black Rutile pondered while retracting the welding mask into her visor and began going back to the drawing board.
--
Guess who's back? Back again? Black Rutile's back, she's no friend! And on that rather sad turned ominous note, we conclude the first chapter of Part 3. Now that we have Steven's romance issues out of the way, expect to see the following in the coming chapters, in no particular order.
Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl re-enact Ace Attorney while Steven becomes even more scarred for life.
Viva Los Diego! Lapis & Amethyst get involved with a James Bond parody, Garnet & Bismuth solve mysteries together with a police officer who's basically the Plumber from Ratchet and Clank, Pearl matches wits with a snooty film director who's like Michael Bay, David Cage, Neil Druckmann & Zack Snyder in one, and Peridot tries promoting her CPH reboot.
Steven hangs out with Spinel and plays basketball with Wolverine.
Peridot finally gets her own song.
Jasper finally gets her own song.
A certain Stevonnie-chasing jerk dares Steven to reform him.
And finally, Black Rutile plays a role in a certain event in Fragments, the final chapter of this part.
Have I gotten your interest yet? Good, cause strap in everyone, it's gonna be nuts.
