It feels like LOGH is rubbing my nose in the fact that it won’t let Frederica do anything

#it’s so frustrating lol #the author gave Yang an adoring fangirl-secretary-wife to marvel at his intelligence while getting to do nothing on her own #I’d be fine if Yang married a completely uninvolved civilian!#but the show keeps Frederica around seemingly for the sole purpose of having her be a pretty face or something #it’s not THAT bad but the contrast between her and Julian is insane #she’s like 7 years older than him #they’re the two who were closest to Yang #they’re both supposedly the new leaders of the democratic republican movement #but she’s done like 1 thing the whole show while Julian is practically a main character #I keep dreaming of a version of the story where Jessica was Yang’s long term love interest #wouldn’t it be great if there was a civilian character on the alliance side who actually operated in the democratic system?#and then it would be like husband and wife are fighting the same war in different arenas #but no #and now Frederica gets to have a lifeless political career as a figurehead w no ideas of her own #just like how her military career was just being an assistant #LAME AND BORING AND BAD #I’m not saying she’s completely mishandled but I’m not happy w it at all #I don’t even care if a story has ‘strong female characters’ or whatever #but if you’re going to include women don’t insult them at every turn #there was literally a part where one of the alliance guys said she’s not that smart or accomplished #omg. I have complaints about th gender politics of the show but this is hands down the worst aspect

alright so question here how tall is lark, caeru, the silverer and the scoundrel. i need to update my mental image of them and think of How specifically his brother is going "it should have been me" in regards to these relationship. is caeru shorter then the silverer. can she pick him up or is he doing the picking up. things like that sorry if I'm being too weird about it

no no i 100% get it op. height differences are the most beautiful thing in the whole wide world. unfortunately with the exception of terry most of these heights are pretty equal

the height chart goes terry > the scoundrel > lark > caeru > the silverer, in that very rough order. terry is 5'0, the scoundrel is 5'8, lark is 5'9, caeru is 6'0, and the silverer is 6'5.

tldr unfortunately nobody is really picking each other up. the scientist and the silverer have just been tall person 4 tall person this entire time (with the latter being Very Fucking Tall). that being said i feel like louise could still totally suplex her boyfriend if she felt like it, purely by virtue of having Actual Arm Strength while meanwhile caeru weighs maybe 2 sacks of feathers maximum. the scoundrel could also probably pick him up despite their height difference but that's just the curator genes talking

sometimes it hits me that like. there is a pretty valid reason calling kiryu a granddad despite that being literally true feels Weird to me. and that’s the fact that. oh yeah. haruka has a baby at fuckin 19-20 years old. meaning kiryu is a granddad before he’s even 50.

The bad thing about having a sleepover with my lil cousins is that they woke up at like 7:20 or something but the good thing is that we watched megamind last night

If you've been on this blog for any amount of time, you know how obsessed I am with Peter Lorres portrayal of Joel Cairo, but I really should sing the praises of Mary Astor as Brigid o Shaughnessy more often. Compared to some other 'femme fatales' in films of the time, who's supposed moral failings rather unambiguously disappear thanks to the love of some man they usually just met, I appreciate that there's no reason to assume Brigid truly fell in love with Spade anymore than theres a reason to assume she genuinely was inlove with Thursby or really even Archer.

Honestly, Mary Astor gives my second favourite performance in the film and that's stiff competition. It's a shame that she and Peter Lorre weren't in any other films together(that I know of)

tbh i have specific reasons why the marlowe sibs each act the way that they do like diane acts out and shit bcos she was literally 21 when she died and her manner of death was incredibly traumatizing and she wants it to MEAN SOMETHING. she's a priest through-and-through, she wants her suffering to have meaning so badly. vs erick who basically attempts to return to the man he was before his death bcos he's ashamed of his actions in classic and BC bcos he thought his kids were dead so he was very VERY in-line w ur classic forsaken 'life is meaningless and the living are stupid' mentality. vs their older sister anna who was saddled w two kids she did not want during a zombie apocalypse bcos their dad (her brother) "died" and was essentially indoctrinated into the scarlet crusade bcos she was alone and desperate.
