I know!!! It’s insane to just reduce her to only a love interest when she’s such a compelling character. Idk why fun characters who can have agency and will to shape the world and narrative are just never given the chance. It makes for a better story??? But whatever. I have no clue what happens behind the scenes of comic stuff so I don’t even know who to point a finger at LMAO

I just saw your most recent post and it's very cool + intriguing! Is Penelope a half-spider person, or is the black widow just meant to represent that she ate her lover (hence the blood on her mouth??)? Either way, very cool art!

The black widow is indeed representative of her eating her beloved! Her story is focused around her high school romance where Penelope has a uh, different love language than most ^^" Bugs in general are a motif in her story, both because she lacks a lot of human connection and because of the cannibalistic behaviours a lot of them display, but of course black widows are obv the most notorious for it ^^

This being said I have also toyed around with the concept of her being a half spider prom queen and it's also a prominent idea within her Batman AU !

Hm. Something about how Avrana Kern partially despises humanity for its history of genocide, hates them for being so prone to ideological stupidity, and yet not only is she actively advocating for the genocide of humanity (despite those humans being victims of the same awful event that caused her to believe humanity wasn’t worth saving) pretty much the only reason the humans are willing to resort to genocide is because her “humans are bastards” ideology meant she kept trying to kill them. And refused to grant them asylum when they asked for it. And told the spiders time and time again that the humans were an ancient enemy that would inevitably destroy them.

So, naturally, the humans stopped trusting anything to do with her. Including the entire sapient species they had no idea existed as a result of her experiment.

thinking abt atsv. and how i think “miles was never meant to be spider-man” is kind of bullshit or at the very least being spider-man is so not his fault. bc clearly kingpin was meant to set up that collider. so following that pattern of logic that spider was meant to be brought into the universe. so it’s not too far-fetched that miles was bitten. not like he sought out the spider

not to mention the canon has pretty clearly accepted miles as a spider-man. he’s been spider-man for a year and a half and his dimension is fine (interestingly enough, so is the universe his spider came from). he had/has canon events like uncle aaron and also his dad potentially dying soon

like i think he actually very much was meant to be a spider-man. so

i go "no i've never really read comics actually :)" but that is patently untrue. i don't Usually read comics. but i've read the spiderman/deadpool crossover at least twice and i read through a bunch of venom runs like a starving man for like two months straight at one point. so. i read comics when there's Freak Shit in there
